Better get onto this one so that I don't get lost!

Arrgh! Miss J now just laughs at us when we are telling her off. She asks to go into the corner - I think she thinks it's a joke! It's wearing very thin.

Maybe if I start now I won't get so lost???

Nai - how funny! Miss I doesn't always do what we say either... But she still does cry when I put her in the naughty corner. She's started saying "No!" when I tell her to do something!

She's doing our heads in tbh!

How's everyone else going? I will really try and keep up better...

Malyna - lots of stuff similar to boys, eg wooden puzzles, more advanced blocks/building stuff, painting/craft stuff, books... DD got some baking stuff for her bday (an apron with her name on it, some kids cooking utensils, etc), Thomas stuff... then some girlie stuff like DD got a doll's house, hair ties, a brush, some clothes...

    Hey ladies

Well I think we are doing kinder next year. I've got Miss I's 2yo check up on Thurs, bit late I know but we had gastro thru so I had to reschedule our appt... Anyway I will ask about it, but I feel that she will be ready. She is such a strong, independent child, and I think quite clever - I know we all think our kids are geniuses but I just think she's a clever one...

She says things in Spanish, that she has learned from Dora, but says them in context... Eg we go into get DS in the morning and she says "Good morning little man, buenos dias!" which I think is pretty good!

Anyway I just think she needs the extra stimulation and learning that kinder will give. I went to kinder, school and uni when I was young and I turned out ok

On another note... I've started the hunt for childcare. Back to work soon So we'll need to put our two into care. Bit sad... But with the new house etc we need a bit of extra cash. It'll be interesting going back... I think I need a change. Need to talk to you Nai about HR!

Kaz - I think of you lots xxx Love your photos on FB, little J is so cute, great that he's being a good boy for you too, as much as can be expected.

Shell - hope you guys are feeling better soon!

Malyna - are you guys all better now?

Heaven - glad that G is settling into life as a big sister! She sounds like she is loving her new role! Impressed with your tandem feeding as well!

ETA - google mainly music, if there is one run around you, we go and DD loves it! Our session runs as half an hour free play, half an hour of singing and dancing, morning tea and then a little bit more singing. So it's more structured than most playgroups, which I have found good. Might be worth looking into...

Olive - been meaning to ask, how is your new job going??

    How's everyone else going?

DS had his first night in a big bed the other night. We were back in the city and as my parents were away we decided to stay at a hotel near the hossy to avoid the long drive first thing in the morning. So DS thinks it's party time, he'd had a late sleep in the car 4-5pm and then when we got there we went out for dinner (which we hardly ever do normally!) and then he had a shower with daddy which was different too so by the time he got into bed, even though it wasn't late he thought it was party time!! LOL. He stayed on the bed most of the time but would not stay lying down let alone try to go to sleep. He was up until at least 10:30pm I think that's when I went off to sleep. DP and I woke around midnight to find that he was sleeping on the floor, head on ducky & grover and bum in the air LOL!! He stayed there until after 6am! We have no idea how he got down there (fell vs climbed) but he didn't cry or wake us up and he had no visible injuries the next day.

Too funny, first night in a big bed, that we paid money for and everything and he prefers to sleep on the floor

Anyway, we are back off to Syd today. DP into hossy this afternoon. In for 5 days, out for 5 days, in for 5 days out for 5 days etc and then the schedule changes. At some point he will be in for a month. At this point work are really supportive and I have leave so we'll just go with the flow and return home to work/CC when we can. We thought we'd have the whole week this week back at home and we were really looking forward to it but a few hours after we got back on Monday, they called saying to come back today. Can't plan anything so I'm trying to find the balance between not planning or getting attached to what I expect to happen but not descending into helplessness either. So far so good!

    Much love to all. xxx

    Hi all

Miss I's pretty good at nights now. Her brother has taken her place as the non-sleeping baby...!! Grr!

She sleeps in a dark room... No problem with being afraid of it yet... We also go in before we go to bed and tuck her in, add another blanket to her bed, to try and prevent the early morning wake ups... Mostly works. We've also got a toddler clock where we say night night to the sun at bed time, then the moon comes out and at 7am the sun rises again. So if she wakes before 7am we just tell her she needs to stay in bed and stay quiet until the sun wakes up.

    Again, mostly works!

She's pushing every boundary possible ATM and her fave word is NO! Driving me insane!!!

    Hope everyone is going well...

What a great clock! Miss J wakes when our alarm goes off at 6 or at 6.18am if it's the weekend - seriously! on the dot! every weekend! She now gets up quietly, comes into our room and says "shhh! Vievey (Genevieve) sleeping!"

She has been waking at night but she does have a cold at the moment so that is bothering her I think. We are also getting to the defiance stage. Her favourite saying is "I NOT doing that!" when asked to do anything. We tell her that that isn't a nice way to talk and she has to say sorry or go in the corner. She will usually say sorry but not always....

LOL Nai, we have a bit of that here too but mostly just 'No thanks!' in a cheery voice when I tell her to do something I have to try not to laugh. Then when I try and make her do it it's 'NO NO NO don't want to! Don't like it!' Sometimes I wonder what the neighbours think I'm doing to her.

They clock sounds awesome. Where did you get it?
If I dare touch E while she is climbing high on the play equipment I get "let go. Go away."

Hahaha I have to laugh ladies - it sounds like our girls are all getting pretty strong-willed!!

Nai - how cute on Vievy sleeping! On weekends DH gets up with Miss and she comes down to our room and says "Mummy sleeping, mummy very tired!"

The clock is pretty awesome - it was a Christmas present from my folks, mum got it online at my request! I told her what sort of thing I wanted and she chose... I think it's called a Gro clock! It's made by the grobag people. Google gro clock and i think the first like that comes up is on Bonito Baby, that's it!

It was actually Olive's suggestion, about six months ago when the 5-6am wake ups were doing my head in! Mind you - today she slept in til 7.30am!!

to all on the night waking and early morning waking too!!

Malyna - in terms of night waking, DS has never really stopped doing it He did get much MUCH better in about mid Jan until early March when it started again. By better I mean that he was still waking 1-3 times a night but only needed a few minutes to resettle (dummy replacement, tucking back in, drink, quick cuddle etc). Lately with all the comings and goings of his dad, he's been not wanting to go down of an evening and much harder to resettle overnight too. The worst was nearly 2hours awake a few nights in a row last week. *yawn* Having said all of that, we are still getting the random sleep through though too. And he still has a day sleep of at least an hour (although it's getting later and later in the day - still awake now for example). So I can't really complain that much.

OP/Olive - That clock sounds awesome! I've heard of them before but forgot about them. DS would love a sheep one as we are in the middle of a Shaun the Sheep obsession here. He would watch the episodes all day if we let him LOL!!

Meg - Your DD sounds very clever knowing all of that!! DS can do some counting but not always in order, he can say "A-B-C" and knows the letter J by sight and he has some colours but tends to say everything is blue if he is not sure!

We made it to DSs 2 year old check the other day. He is 11.355kg (following his own curve just above the 10th%); 89cm tall (getting taller for his age) and head circ of 49.5cm (getting more in proportion to his height!). His favourite sayings are "I don't like it" when he doesn't want to do something. Or he just says no and runs away We are working on please and thank you atm and of course, just coping with increased seperation anxiety given what is going on. It's understandable but hard work when DP is not around and DS tells me he is going to "see daddy tomorrow, yes, ok".

DP is going ok so far. We are enjoying some time at home this weekend and through this next week. They are going to see if they can harvest his stem cells next Monday and he has to do self injections twice a day to help the cells leave his bone marrow. If not enough get out into his blood stream they won't be able to do the transplant and so the chemo won't be as high a dose as if they could put stem cells back afterwards. I have really mixed feelings about his treatment. On the one hand it will save his life (hopefully) and what could be more important than that? But on the other hand, his scans are clear again and these drugs have massive implications for his fertility. Some say chances are low it will ever return, others say it could be 2 years before it comes back. I am not coping very well with the thought of never having another baby. Of raising DS as an only child. It's not what we planned and not what I want (although a live DP and having a DS at all are of course most important). It's really hard to explain.

Anyway, hope you are all enjoying the long weekend. xx
