Great to meet you, look forward to getting to know you all.
My little one was born *th Dec, but at 31 weeks, actual due date 8th Feb.
So I have to go by his corrected age for all his milestone development, so would like to chat with this group.
He was 1.84kg born and is now 4.2kg at 1 week corrected age.
He is doing well, although got a stuffy nose at the mo, and keeping me awake all night, about every 2 hours.
Advice Wanted:
I am not sure what I should be doing.. Miranda is BF and attaches well, seems to drink well pretty much every 2 hours. However, she often falls asleep at the breast and and when I try to put her down she starts crying and often wont stop until I BF her again. I don't want to just leave her to cry but I need to put her down at times. Just wondering if anyone has this problem or has any thoughts...

TUP - frustrating isn't it. Matteo does this all the time, feel like I am continually feeding. I try and change his nappy after he has had one breast and fallen asleep, if that doesn't wake him up, I wash his face with cold water
TUP - BF has given some great advice. Unless I know that Lucinda has done a poo already, I don't change her until she falls asleep during a feed - she also does it every time. In these early days they do pretty much continuously feed and I find I'm having to remind myself of that when I feel dead tired. At the moment, Lucinda is feeding every hour or so for around 1/2 hour. Today she has had more of a space between feeds and longer feeds too, so things are looking up
Do your babies cry when you put them down after a feed? I find that Miranda will sleep for 10 - 20 min and then wake up and I know she cant be hungry b/c I've just put her down after a feed but nothing seems to stop her crying unless I BF her. How do you get your babies to sleep if they wake up after a feed?
I am using a dummy at the moment but I don't know if I want to follow this path b/c if it falls out she will wake up... (this was added)
TUP - to keep Amelia awake the midwife on the hospital suggested I strip her down to her nappy while feeding her and play with her feet if she falls asleep. As for how to settle upon waking I have no advice there as Amelia sleeps for longer so I assume she actually is hungry when she awakes...... I give her a dummy too but always take it out when she falls asleep so she doesn't wake when in her bed.....
DS was born on the 7th. His my first, so its an interesting journey so far. I'm loving it!
Chody, In response to the belly buddies thread, Xavier was sleeping less before he started sleeping in these little blocks. He still has some unsettled time of nights where his up every hour or so for a few hours, but he seems to be sleeping better more so than not. I hope it doesnt get *much* worse lol.
TUP, I too cant offer much advice re the settling as Xavier sleeps for quite a while so once his awake again I know he's ready for another feed. Although my midwife did say if he wakes after 20mins or so, he may have wind that needs bringing up. If its not that though I just rock or pat his bum until he's asleep again or I just let him go to sleep himself. He rarely cries and self settles (he doesnt grizzle or cry, just lays there awake until he drifts off) a lot so for the moment its working.

Afm, I'm feeling great this morning lol. Xavier woke about 3 times last night so I got some solid sleep. The night before the little guy was restless and woke every hour from about 4-7am, and I really felt it yesterday. So last night was heaven in comparison lol.
How long do your bubbas feed for? Xavier usually feeds for 10-15mins, with a few 20min feeds. I dont know if thats too short? I'll do a bum change during the feed and offer the other side, but he seems content with what he gets. He can feed up to every hour during the day though. I guess he's still working out his own routine.
And burping. Xavier wont burp! Its not bothering him, if it does he'll wake after 20mins of being asleep or so and let some big ones out. Or he works them out himself. But its still frustrating that he wont bring them up after a feed, I worry that it will start to bother him eventually.
And I wish I could get my blasted breastpump back together! I wouldnt mind being able to express a little once a day as my breasts have been feeling a little fuller and sore at times. Although they dont go rock hard anymore which is a bonus lol. But I cant get a one part back together, its like one piece is suddenly too big to fit into the other. So frustrating lol.

Ok, call me crazy but I miss being pregnant! Its SO WEIRD not having Xavier there with me 24/7 lol. I feel so alone when he's in bed (he sleeps in his own room atm). It doesnt seem to bother him, just me lol. Almost like I'm having separation anxiety LOL. A good friend is 18 weeks pregnant and is feeling her bubs move a lot, and I cant help but miss it all hahaha
