Lairdoz, I took motilium from 2.5-4.5wks. I also started fenugreek at 2 weeks. When the motilium ran out I started taking blessed thistle and that seems to be working as well as the motilium, so I didn't bother getting a new prescription. My SIL is a naturopath and she also recommended trying flax seed oil for the milk quality, so I'm just about rattling with all the tablets I'm taking to support the BF... When I told the paed that I hadn't regained my birthweight until 6wks when I was a baby he said that meant my mum probably had low supply too and that it tends to run in families. I really didn't like our paed, he just made me feel like a failure....

Bec, I can't believe that Dr! Is Infants Friend for gas? We've been having a bit of trouble with gas and my SIL (different one) is a pharmacist and recommended Infacol, but I haven't tried it yet as her gas has only been mild. Mind you, if you're using something that works, it's good to stick with it.

TUP, FX she keeps up the nice long sleeps for you!! Amber started sleeping better right around that age. Before that she wouldn't go to bed before 1am and now she goes to bed between 9-11pm. It took a week or so to really settle into it though.

I'm assuming that first "infacol" should be "infants friend"? Natural does sound a better option.

Lairdoz, I hope your little guy is feeling better and i hope you got some much needed sleep.

I was using Infants Friend for a while and it didn't seem to be working very well so mum suggested Infacol and it worked great for gas. Now we look back and when we started using Infacol she had reflux and only had 1 dirty nappy a week. Now she's back on Infants Friend she has no reflux, 1 dirty nappy every 2 or 3 days and has no gas i'm just happy that she's better and i won't be going to that quack again! I'll be using my own GP.
Yesterday Soph rolled from her back to her belly and got stuck and chucked the biggest tantrum!! I think she might be a bit of a handfull She dosn't like tummy time although i try to presist with it. Are anyone's bub's trying to sit up?

Samcougar - great news that the reflux has resolved itself. Some bubs can only have it for the first 3-4 months while others seem to have the joy for much longer. My little guy seems very refluxy, however the losec means he doesn't cry which is all that really matters!

My little guy has done a couple of roll, but my DD did at 11 weeks, then couldn't sit up until she was almost eight months old.

I can't believe this - my DS has just woken after 20 minutes - yesterday he only had two twenty minute sleeps, wakes up screaming his head off and today is exactly the same. I can't get anything done!

I thought I was going to have more time, but everything I read tells me to get him up when he cat naps so that was my ten minutes of quiet time....

Waah omg I havent been on all week, its been such a loooooong week.

Xavier is so unsettled and grumpy and clingy and sleeping like poo at night. Where has my good sleeper & settler gone?!
All week, he has been out of sorts. He's now waking 1-2hourly after giving me a 4-5 hour block when his down for the night at 9.30pm. The last three nights his woken at 10.30pm for a feed again. After the 3rd or 4th wake up at night I usually bring him into bed with me. Then between 7am-7.30am, he SCREAMS. Has done the last 4 mornings. Really upset crying. This morning though I was able to stop him by rubbing his tummy and he farted a bit, so maybe it is gas.
And then during the day he is really clingy. Is more happy to sit with us on the couch than play on the floor. He's getting grumpy & tired quicker. Like when his awake his really happy and content like normal, he just gets grumpy so much sooner than he has been and then wants to be held.
And he is SO FUSSY on the breast. He looks for it, clamps down and sucks for a little bit, then pulls off crying and thrashes around. This can go on for up to 15mins before he'll feed properly. Or I have enough and give him his dummy. He's day feed are stretching out to as long as 4-5 hourly! Oh and his dummy, his loving it. I use to only give it to him as a last resort for settling, but he's been wanting it to go to sleep with most naps. Wont have a bar of my boob, he wants the dummy. Oh and his loving his fist/fingers. Lol he gets his fingers in so far I swear he'll swallow them LOL. I'm surprised he hasnt made himself gag hahaha.

I've no idea whats going on! I checked out the wonder weeks website and they say there is one around 11-12 weeks, but I thought they only lasted a couple of days?
I just hope this phase is over soon, I am so tired.

Anyway I have to go get ready for mothers group, and try and get this little boy to feed!

Shan, that disruption to his sleep sounds like what the CHN was telling our mother's group this afternoon to expect at 4 months. Maybe he's doing it earlier? I don't know if that's possible?
On the hand thing, Amber has been gagging on her hands for a couple of weeks now (and she is 2 weeks older than Xavier so that would match up).

Afm, I had a chat with the CHN after mother's group today about Amber's napping issues during the day and she offered to write us a referral to the clinic that helps with sleep issues. I was quite surprised since I know that clinic can be hard to get into and I figured there were others more in need than us. We're going to wait and see if we have any improvement between now and our next scheduled home visit (in 2 weeks). There's a waiting list anyway, so I guess if we get the referral at that time and later see an improvement before our turn we can always remove ourselves from the waiting list. I don't want to take up a spot that someone else may be more in need of, but I also need to start getting something other than feeding and holding her done during the day. She's 14wks old and I can count the number of times I have successfully put her down for a nap (ie napping in her cradle, not on my lap) on my fingers. Yesterday's attempt resulted in an hour of crying...

Hi Juniper -
I had a serial cat napper and googled everything on catnapping. He hated his cot and would wake after twenty minutes no matter what I did. I googled extensively, as well as looking at save our sleep which has worked for us so far, and quite a few suggested getting them up and not fighting the fact they weren't great sleepers.

So I got went and got him, told him what a great boy he was to have slept, then kept him up until his next feed, and next sleep time (letting him nap on his activity map if he needed to) he has now had three days in a row of one 1.5 hour and another 2.5 hour sleep (9-10:30am and 12:30 until about 2:45pm).

I have no idea if this will help you, I didn't know what to do as I was exhausted and having no time to myself, but it worked for us. I also made sure I topped his feed up 1/2 hour before his sleep was due, my little guy isn't a great feeder with his reflux, so I think he was also waking as he was genuinely hungry.

Shan - sorry to hear that Xavier has been having it tough. It's so hard when they won't feed and you know they are hungry! Bubs seem to love sucking, I was like you and not really wanting my DD to have one, but she LOVED it - we just used to take it out after she had gone to sleep and by 12 months she didn't use it anymore so don't stress too much about him loving it if it makes him (and therefore you!) happy.

Thanks Lairdoz. To be honest, we don't even have a feeding routine yet. We're still doing demand feeding. Because she had weight gain issues early on I never delay a feed for the sake of sticking to a routine. They are spacing out more though, so hopefully we'll get a pattern emerge soon that I can build a routine around?

i hope everyone had a lovely Mother's day!! did we all get spoilt? i know DH did and tried to make my day as smooth as possible despite the poor bugger being sick

juniper - welcome! i was wondering whether you would join us! i've missed seeing you around
we had the same thing with ayva, she doesnt want anyone but me, and she wont be put down, so it makes doing anything around the house nigh on impossible. have you tried using a hugabub or ergo so you can still be holding her but doing housework? it has worked with us a few times when i've really needed to get things done!
we're also still demand feeding, she's in SOMEWHAT of a routine, but nothing set in stone really, her last feed is usually around 11-12pm, then again at around 5am, then 8ish, then around 12.30ish, then around 4, then 8, so i guess its around every 4 hours usually? but sometimes she completely changes it! lol

Shan - Ayva's wonder week lasted around 1 week or so, from memory, and she was acting EXACTLY like xavier! and she also didnt want bar of anyone or anything but me! i couldnt put her down or give her to anyone else! lol! im not sure if its always a week though, might differ with each baby?

AFM - i had my first AF since baby arriving! has anyone else? i'm not sure whether to be disappointed or relieved? its good in the sense that it hasnt been anywhere near as severe as what it used to be before bubs, i remember i used to LIVE off painkillers for the first couple days, and they used to be really heavy! but now i havent needed painkillers at all and its been quite a bit lighter! so im happy with that if nothing else lol.

and we got Ayva weighed and measured today! she's 5.51kg, and 59cm tall, and when we got her head measured 2 weeks ago it was 40cm.
She's a sight smaller than all the other bubs in this group! lol!
in a way wish i had a rolly michelin baby, but i think im glad ive got a small bubba with some rolls at least i can enjoy the smaller stage for longer

but its good to see other bubs are doing so well! my friends sister has a little girl who's 1.5 weeks younger than ayva and she's 6.9kg! not sure her height r anything, but shes such a chubba!! :O :O i couldnt believe how big she was when my friend told me! lol!

Gem - I've not had AF arrive yet and I am so glad not to! This is the longest I have gone without AF and not been pregnant. I use a HAB when I have days that I can't put Lucy down. I wear it in the car all done up and when I get to my destination, I just hop out, get Lucy out of her seat, pop her in and we're good to go. My little sticky beak likes facing out now and watching the world.

Juniper - Have you tried her on your bed using a pillow? Now, I am not one to advocate unsafe sleeping, but I find that Lucinda goes down for a nap much better if there is a pillow involved. She flat out refuses to sleep in her cradle and I think she has only slept in there once as there is no pillow. Because she co sleeps with us she definitely naps better with a pillow. If you're going to do it, I am sure I don't need to tell you to make sure she is supervised whilst you're doing it. It could just be enough to give you a break.

AFM - We got past the whole wonder week thing and now we have a tooth! I have stolen Anelise's amber necklace for Lucinda to wear but wouldn't you know it, now Anelise won't sleep at night due to her teeth. Time to invest in a 2nd necklace I think!
Lucinda is rolling so much now that it is hard to keep her still. She is napping next to me on my bed at the moment and she kept still because I wrapped her in a blanket which she completely hates but meh, it kept her still. She also hates being covered up at night and rolls out from under her blanket so she is now sleeping in a grow suit at night. Cheeky child! lol

Lol, actually, I weighed Amber on Friday and she was 5.6kg and she's almost 2 weeks older than Ayva. She's just about to grow out of the 000 clothes. She has grown out of the smaller brands (lengthwise) but has only just grown into the bigger brands. I was looking at the Ergos. Just need to get to a store to try one.

Lisa, she sleeps fine in the cradle at night and I do everything the same during the day (same spot, same sleeping bag, etc). As for trying her on our bed, last night we were woken at 2.30am by our bed frame breaking, so I won't be putting her on our bed until that's fixed. DH has rigged it up temporarily so we can sleep on it, but I'm not all that confident about it and seriously considered sleeping on the lounge tonight... Meanwhile, she managed a 1 hour nap this afternoon which gave me enough time to try out my new Wii Fit Plus for the first time today!

Hope -your DD is right on the 50th percentile for a girl in weight (boys are a whole other story!) so your beautiful DD is not too tiny but I know what you mean about michelin babies. I always wanted a chubbier baby, but my little kidlets have proven to be failures in the delicious chubb legs category but they make up for it with big heads (for their big brains we like to tell ourselves....)

Juniper - even though I have found routines make my life much easier, I am completely supportive of Mum's choice to feed their bubs the way they want to. I certainly do demand feed to a point ( like when you know they are really hungry and can't las to the next feed) but my little guy snack feeds which makes his reflux worse.

Lucy has been teething like crazy and crying loads because of it so my time is spent either on FB or reading these last few days. One tooth has broken through (too cute & sharp!) and it seems #2 won't be far behind.

I know! It is so strange. Lucy is my earliest teether. Both DS2 & DD2 were later teethers with DS2 not getting his first tooh until 16 months. I kinda expected Lucy to be the same (my first 2 kids are to my ex but Noah, DS2, DD2 & DD3 are to my DH) but she went and shocked us all by getting her first tooth already. She chews on everything and has some cute little teether toys but she prefers my thumb
