AFM - finally learnt to use the hug a bub. It was freaking awesome!! Had to wait over an hour at an apptment for ella today plus we were in the cardiologist office for 45 minutes. And I didn't hear a peep! Plus I had my hands free going to use it at kindy drop off tomorrow.
Twinkle toes (at wakerley) do it in-house now. Little images Alex Hills closed down! I rang head office about getting the free newborn thing they do and there's supposed to be a new studio starting up in manly this month. She was supposed to call me and hasn't. The newborn thing was for up to 1mth olds, so they better give me a darn good deal for not getting back to me TWICE. Not the best way to start a business, by ignoring potential customers!
I've emailed them twice too and no answer!!!! I didn't know the Alex hills one closed....kind of dont want to use them now, but they were good last time, and pretty well priced.
P#ssed off i wrote a long post and my stupid computer logged off and shut down the power cord had come out and i didnt relise so i lost it all.
Sconeonamission-Ella gets her needles wed and i always cry when my newborns have their needles.
Kitty-my scar hurt just above also even when i lay on my belly i cant wait to be able to do exercises my extra 4kgs ia all around my belly and waist i fit into all my normal clothes just cant do the bas#ards up.
Good god chase is almost 3 months that means our bubs are not far behind.
Ella is 6 weeks today!
Iona-how was your night?
OK i dont know if it was the Zantac but Ella had her bottle at 7pm she had her 1st dose of Zantac at 4pm so 3 hours before anyway we put her to bed at 8pm and she went off to sleep by herself NO crying and i didnt need to go in and settle her she just sucked her dummy and went off to sleep no moaning or groaning at all.
She woke at 12:30 had a bottle with no fuss no arching her back or neck no gulping and crying she just drank and went back to sleep until 5:30 had her next bottle with no fuss at all and went straight back to sleep sucking her dummy no moaning groaning at all she actually had a peacful sleep and she has just woken now and is laying on her play mat so what can i say i dont want to jump the gun but so far the Zantac is looking good.
Oh and we put a pillow under her sheets to keep up more upright so that helped also.
ferrals - yay on ella having a good night. jack slept for 5hrs to and then did his usual wake up every couple of hrs after but have noticed he will only feed for about 5-10mins instead of his normal 20-30 before he falls asleep so this could be causing the 2hrly wake up calls
Needles for E went well, I had to have my blood pressure taken 3 times - first didn't work, 2nd done manually, 3rd I had to stand up. Then my pulse was taken and the dr said my pulse was irregular (48bpm)and then 60-something bpm, so I had to have an ECG which shows there's a tiny something with my heart beat, which isn't there all the time. She's told me it's nothing to worry about, but that's hard to do! I'm sitting waiting for a blood test for thyroid and iron. I have an appt Thursday to discuss blood test results, and in the meantime the dr is showing the ECG to someone who can read more in depth.
oh scone - hope it's nothing major and it sorts itself out and yay on E being soo good at getting her needles.
jack has been soo good this morn, he slept from 9-12, all while i got my nails done and picked up a few things at coles....ahh always a first for everything now let's see how the arvo goes
Iona - yay for getting your nails done with bub sleeping!! I'm jealous as mine are pretty ruined from constant washing of bottles and pump equipment.
Scone - I hope everything resolves really soon. Thursday must seem like a long way away. If it's thyroid or iron (I have issues with both) it can be resolved easily. It's great you've worked out bubs cries, it must make things a bit easier.
Ferrals - great you had a peaceful night. I'm carrying an extra 4.5kgs around the waist. I have the same issues with clothes...I can't get the waist done up. I just started back a couple of sessions at the gym but the Easter eggs aren't helping
We are having a good day...so far. I have even had a chance to do a little bit of housework. We are in chaos at the moment.
Still having a fantastic day Ella has been a bliss and falling asleep after her feeds all by herself we just put her down and pop her dummy in once or twice and she is out we have had no back arching or moaning and groaning during her sleep yet god i hope it continues, waiting to see if we still have the 6pm-8pm grizzly hours.
Do you remember sunshine&stars who started off in our belly buddies group at the very begining she had her little boy obie early before Kitty had chase well her little man died on the 5th of April he had a neurological disorder poor little bub he held on for just over 2 months just thought id let you know as someone mentioned her during the end of our pregnancies.
I'm glad the medicine is working, hopefully it works here too.
After a shocking few days and disaster last night, we finally admitted to ourselves that S has silent reflux too. I didn't want to believe it, so was in denial about her symptoms, couldn't believe I was unlucky enough to have 4 babies - all with reflux of some description. So took her to the doc today, he finally gave me a script for Zantac after telling me she probably has a bladder infection (errr but no fever which usually accompanies an infection dip shiat) so I'll give her a dose of that soon I guess.
Ferrals - were you told specific times to give it? My doc didn't give me any info on it and the chemist just said twice a day - and what measure is Ella on? I got told 2.5mls for S - again by the chemist. And did they tell you to give it before or after a feed? I was told nothing...

Oh Ella, Ouch with your C-section scar! Mine is healed and I just got the go ahead with waxing and Body pump. Yaaa. Really hope yours is okay? wouldn't it of dissolved? Btw started the gym yesterday and WW. I am doing unlimited and it is $14 a week for unlimited. I am going to meetings twice a week until I lost 10 kilos. Little goal I made with myself. : ) I think the meetings are super motivational so going to stick with it.
I am sorry to hear about all these stressed moms. I was like that a few days ago.. DH loves to pick up K at every single sound he makes!! Drives me nuttah as with this crappy rain Mark has been home all week.... God help me.

mel - i was prescribed 2.5mls twice a day but the chemist questioned it as she thought it was too high so tried to call my dr but couldn't get a hold of him...anyway jack won't take the 2.5ml so dropped it to 1ml and i just give to him in the morn when we get up so is after a feed and at night last night it was an hr after a feed
Ferrals I just saw that you had posted in that thread so i was nosey and had a look sooo sad.
Ok so J doesnt sook or grunt or groan after any feed other than the first one at night so about 230 depending on what time he goes to bed. I can hear him groaning from our room. He doesnt do this any other time. Do you think he is just resettling after being awake for the feed. Happens every night without fail.
I cant believe my baby is already 9 weeks old. WHat the. Where has the time gone. I gave him and went to the chn on Wed cause DH is home and he is now 6.1kg and 58cm long. Is this too big for his age? The lady didnt seem concered about anything other than I dont put him in his cot to sleep during the day. Everytime I do he only sleeps for 30min max.
That makes me so very sad. I saw her posts just after she had him and tried to stalk her a week or so ago to see how he was.
Such a long struggle to get pregnant and stay pregnant for her and dh, such a tragic ending for them :'(
Arimeh-My doctor rang the childrens hospital after he got on the computer to check the dosage and as adults take 10mls twice a day newborns would only have a small amount anyway he rang the hospital and they said 1ml twice a day to start with for her weight when she gets bigger it may increase.
I give it to her in the morning with her 9:30 bottle and then with her 4-5pm bottle but i might give it to her half hour before because tonight she brought up her whole bottle so i am not sure how much Zantac stayed down.
Kylz-Ella still grunts and groans while going off to sleep which is normal she just doesnt do it constantly in her sleep since starting the Zantac.
Jaki-I know i feel for them after all they have been through.
Well we have made it to 7:40 with no grizzly hour ella had her bottle at 5:30 and i put her to bed at 7pm and she just laid there and has made a few noises sucking her dummy i went in and checked on her and she is slowy dozing off her eyes are almost closed i cant believe how content she is i am not fighting with her and repeatedly running the stairs to pop the dummy in.
Question about the Zantac can you mix it with anything it tastes like crap and ella is not a fan of it.
ferrals: oh I tried to stalk sunshine&stars as well to see how she was going with Obie. Such sad news.

Kylz: I think we worked out C is about 5.6kg, we don't get him weighed anymore cos I have to make an appointment with the health nurses now. I just get Dh to stand on the scales without bubby then get him to stand on them with bubby and work out how much he weighs from there hehe
sorry everyone else, I'm so tired. C has gone back to waking up at midnight and 3am and the change is messing with my sleep not to mention he refuses to sleep during the day as well. Leading up to the growth spurt I think lucky me. C wouldn't sleep all day nor this arvo for longer than 20mins. Got him to sleep just before and he woke up again. Too stressed to try again, he just cries and keeps smacking my face and chest and I don't know what else to do so left him to daddy. Wish he took a dummy, what types of dummies do you guys have??
Kitty - I can't remember if you are BF or not. The LC and MCHN told me there is new research that shows dummies don't affect BF and the best ones are the ones with the ball type end. We are using a tommee tippee one. We just use it in the difficult afternoon hours and seems to really help DS settle apart from the fact it drops out frequently. Other times DS is able to settle himself to sleep without the dummie. My DS started to get unsettled at about that 5 weeks mark - which is your bubs adjusted age (according to your signature). It's really hard when they don't get to sleep in the afternoon or day, and then to face wake ups in the night. I had a melt down the other day when this happened to me.
Kitty- Wyatt prefers advent but I think it's because it was his first.
We have tried nuk which I hate, the teat is weird and the actual dummy is quite unattractive.
We have tommy teepee which he isn't a fan of, the base around the mouth is quite heavy compared to the size of the teat so it takes a hard suction to keep it in. So it depends on his mood if he will take it.
I'm planning on trying an old fashioned happy baby dummy. It has quite a large teat which I think will be better for Wyatt as he is dropping off to sleep. That's when his dummy falls out alot requiring me to walk in to pop it back in several times.
Plus the HB ones are $2 rather than $8-12
