Jaki-all my kids have loved loved loved the happy baby dummies i tried all the fancy ones and they just wouldnt suck them the only thing i had trouble finding was the newborn size they sell the 0-3 months and up but the newborn one is tiny and not in stores so i ordered them on line and got a whole bunch Ella loves them.
You sure that friend of your is still your friend now?

Arimeh- it's awesome isnt it when you find the reason for them being unsettled and in pain and can fix it.

AFM-had another great night with ella feeding without a problem she just drinks comfortably she had a bottle at 6pm 12pm 4am and went to sleep no problem after she woke at 5:30 for her dummy and then was up at her usual 7:30 it has been bliss so i make sure she gets every drop of her medicine.
Ella hates it and tries to spit it out so i came up with an idea to try.
I mix 2-3 drops of honey with a few drops of hot boiled water to dilute it then mix her 1ml of zantac and suck the lot into a dropper it makes the total volume to 1.5mls and slowly give it to her and she sucked the dropper dry this morning so got the entire dose of zantac.
I hope it is ok to do that but it works for her so a little(.05ml) watery honey is going to help it go down then im all for it.

Careful about the use of honey ferrals - not supposed to introduce it before they are 1 cos of the botulism risk xxx

But yes it's awesome - she's stopped fussing at the breast too! I did have an idea of mixing her Zantac with a bit of breast milk, so maybe you could mix it with a teaspoon of formula or something? :dunno:

And what the hell to all those mothers putting honey on there babies dummies my girlfriend does that i better tell her to google honey and babies so she can see for herself.

I might just mix it with a bit of infants friend she likes that.

Anyone still bleeding i am it tapered off at 4 weeks to very light almost non exsistant for a few days so i thought it had stopped and DH and i got some loving in but then it started again a few days later and hasnt stopped and it's still red blood and i am having period like pain with it i only ever bleed for 4 weeks with my natural births.

I know a woman who dips her babies dummies in honey. Coincidentally her older one has just had all her teeth ripped out at 4yo.

Ferrals I'm starting to wonder if she is still a friend too... Her Bub is 5 weeks older than W and when she was born we send a card and gift. Got nothing in return for W. Then while we were in coffs I text all my friends to meet up for lunch to meet Wyatt and she didn't even bother texting to say they werent coming.

Mel I find football hold so awkward. But I am a gumby :D

I know lots of people who's kids have had there teeth pulled from going to bed with cordial bottles honey on the dummy ect my boys all got boiled water bottle to go to bed with then when they turned 1 they got a sippy cup the only thing i ever used was gripe water which is sugar free and my boys have never had a problem with their teeth my eldest is 18 soon and not one filling.

My mum sugested glycerine as its sugar free also to mix with the zantac anyone heard of glycerine it's supose to be a sweet flavoured liquid but healthy and sugar free i have not seen it maybe my mum is thinking of many many years ago lol.

And she definately doesnt sound like much of a friend.

I can only do the football hold with a boomerang pillow, not too practical for out in public!! Meanwhile c is feeding every 2 hours, driving me nuts!!

They shouldn't! But, each to their own.

E was so sore and in pain yesterday afternoon after her needles. It didn't seem to bother her until about 4pm. One leg has 2 marks on it (lines, though, not one big redness) and around that time yesterday they were a bit raised and hot and very very sensitive. Poor little thing couldn't feed on the side that she'd be lying on that leg.

She had her last feed at 10pm, but I had to pick her up and dream feed her at 3 because I had milk everywhere! She slept til about 7ish. I think she may be putting her self in a pattern! Oh, that would be awesome! I sleep with washers in my feeding top, but that didn't stop it! It made my flat sheet wet and I had to change my top. Then I sat up for the next hour and hand expressed both sides coz they were rock hard, the left side more. It was so painful :( I managed to express 120ml, 90 of that just from the left.

Dr told me yesterday to rest. Today J has been good, but he's not listening anymore. He'll do things that previously he knew not to do (like run out on to the road - which he did twice yesterday and there were cars coming :wall:) Today I found the carriage to his train. But 'he' found it. He thanked daddy for putting new batteries in said train... which I did coz DH wasn't home until about an hour ago. He took off out the front this morning while I was hanging out the washing. I told him where to find the blocks for the above mentioned train and he would just reply "Where, I can't find it!" with out even looking. Then when I directed to the right cupboard, he still couldnt find them, despite them being where you could blantantly see them.

Apart from that, I got 4 loads of washing and the dishes done.

I gtg, J's not even listening to DH now, he's being rough near E :rolleyes:

scone: that sounds like a good sign E is getting into a pattern all by herself. I thought C had a nice sleep pattern going on but now its all over the place again.

tams: unfortunately I'm pretty sure my BIL did that or something like that. From what I remember they put milk in bottles with chocolate quick for the kids before bedtime...I will not be taking food for baby advice from them obviously lol

lou: I have to football hold C on the right side, he hates that boobie for some reason and the only time he wont play with it is that hold. Like you said its bloody tricky to do without pillows.

ferrals: I bled for about 6 weeks, but mine was a really light flow and dark blood. couldnt wait for the bleeding to be over and just when i thought all was swell AF came along, stupid AF lol

jaki: im going to try that hold and see if C likes it, I think I worked out what to do from your post :)

just bought the happy babby cherry dummy and after a few tries C is sucking :) and he hasn't popped it out yet, woo, now I just need to get him to realise that when he gets this dummy its bed time buddy. oop spoke too soon he is screaming his head off now lol

Tams-my ex husbands best friends wife did with all her kids to keep them quiet at night all 5 of her kids had shocking teeth.

Ella has got herself into a sort of routine seems to have her last feed at 8ish then goes to bed then its 12:30 and 4:30 and she is awake at 7am her daytime feeds are anywhere from 4 to 6 hours and she is staying awake longer and getting over tired if we have a day out shopping ect she likes her bed to sleep and will sleep solidly there for hours but if only cat naps off and on if in the pram or car seat little bugger.

I had a friend who gave her daughter strawberry quick in a bottle until she started primary school. She is now 7 and still talks like a baby, not on purpose she really does sound like a toddler trying to speak.

AFM- tried to DTD for the first time..... bit upset, i think they stitched me up wrong cause it wouldnt go in :( It really hurt and now it stings when i pee. Did anyone else need more than the recommended 6 weeks?

Argh....at night jack only feeds off my left bb for like 5-19mins before he has fallen asleep and then when he goes to have my right next time his on there for the usual 20-30mins. Wondering if my flow is too slow on the left???

iona: C is the same, I just assumed it was because he favours my left boobie that he just drains it quicker/easier. He really hates the right boobie so takes longer fussing around on it.

Ferrals - I'm still bleeding, most days it will stop for half a day and then start again in the afternoon or start in the morning and stop in the afternoon, and it's like a light to medium AF with AF type cramping too, it's been like that for 2 weeks now. With DS my bleeding stopped at 3wks, an then I got AF again 2 weeks later.
Wish it would make up it's mind, I want to DTD already :(

hi everyone else :)

afm - I feel a bit bad by saying that Elise sleeps through most nights from 10-11pm through to 8-9am... sometimes she wakes up at 5am for a feed though and then sleeps for 2-3 hours.
DS was similar though, sleeping through from 8pm to 6am from 3wks. I think it's the formula that makes Elise sleep so well, she always has a formula feed last thing at night when she sleeps through.
Heading up to Lara tomorrow afternoon, so won't be online again until either tuesday night or wednesday morning. Have no idea what we will be doing on monday but I'm sure my MIL will think of something lol and should be a great day on tuesday :)

Anyway, I'm going to go to try and put Elise down - she's been asleep in both mine & hubbies arms since 10:30 - as I need to go to bed, I'm exhausted.

morning everyone,

I'm having a really hard time with DS feeding at the moment. He is only taking half his usual amount of EBM in the bottle before grizzling or just ejecting the teat. Sometimes I think he is still hungry but won't accept the bottle. I took him to a GP yesterday who didn't really come up with any explanation other than he couldn't find anything wrong with him. DS is still putting out regular wet nappies but not as saturated as they have been. I am quite concerned. He does share some of the reflux symptoms like some back arching, regular large vomits and now refusing to complete a feed. He doesn't have the crying which I've read about from the accounts here. I'm not sure what to do. He does have a MCHN appointment on Monday so I will raise it with the nurse. We also have paediatrician appointment on Wednesday.

Is it only a public holiday here in QLD tomorrow?

Some asked earlier how the photo shoot went. E was good for about 20 mins and heard "let's try her on her tummy" and that was it! Apparently they got some good ones. We go back Saturday and choose one. Im taking dh with me coz I'm in decisive and picky :) least then too if they try to push a package (coz they took lots of photos), he can say no, coz I don't like to offend. I'm already dreading calling pixi about their free 0-3mth photo... I just want it coz it's free!!

Ended up calling little images at shailer park, theyre letting me get the free newborn package (at 6.5wks) on wednesday. Its only valid up til 1mth but they they stuffed me round and head office approved it for me :) hopefully, E will pose well :)

BIL leaves for Doomadgee today with his fiancée. They're teachers and have a 7week contract. They come back 1am before end of term, then get married, have their honeymoon and (if they liked Doomadgee) head back for a 6mth contract!

Yep only a holiday here scone. All the other states have it either later or have had it already.

Im still waiting to seem my Little Images photos I got done for free and like you will prob have a hard time picking one. I too have to use the pixie one but im leaving it to closrer to 3 months.

Lisa do you try him on the breast regularly? He may be ready. When we were on full time ebm I would give it a go with and without the shield before most feeds until he took it. Do you give him some infants friend first?

Grrrr post from 3am stupid phone wouldn't post.
Iona mine is the same. Chloe hates the right side and stuffs around for ages. It also never feels overly full, but I have expressed that side cos I panicked there was no milk on there, and got heaps,not as much as the left though. Like right now c hasn't had a feed for 6 hours, but for the last 2 days has been feeding 2 hourly, left side woke me up and is rock hard sore and leaking, but right side not really bothering me. I have been making her feed from that side first to perhaps encourage more milk cos she sucks so hard but no change....
Meanwhile chloe was awake yesterday for 13 hours straight with a couple of 5 minute cat naps hereand there. Wtf don't know how she does it, I was under the impression newborns sleep a lot!
Scone how did the photos go?
Tams - those WW prices don't sound too bad. I'm going to go cheapo and figure out how many calories I need then use calorie king to work out my food. And going to start meal planning again, used to every week but since Chloe dinner is whatever DH or I could be bothered making

Jenna-dont feel bad for saying elise sleeps so well my 3 boys did i just lucked out with missy moo she actually goes to sleep really well just wakes up for her dummy or food and its always 12ish and 4ish i need to try and get her last bottle for the night to be about 10pm then i might be able to get her to 5 or 6am what formula is she on?

Ellasmummy-newborns are supposed to sleep 18 hour a day but ella is staying awake more during they day she had a good 4 hour sleep in the morning and then was awake from 12 until 5pm with just a few 10min naps here and there and i can tell you she was over tired and a biatch!!!!! to get to sleep last night.

Well its 8:15 and Ella is playing up she is tired and is fighting going down for a sleep so making me eat my words.

Jaki - we aren't having much joy at the breast either, it's still the same pattern of failed latching and resorting to EBM on bottle. I haven't tried infants friend. I think we have something similar in the cupboard so maybe we can try that before the next feed.

Ellasmummy - I know what you mean. My DS doesn't sleep for long period, or has some catnaps a few days a week. I find it difficult because he is usually unsettled on these days and just can't get himself off to sleep. Ouchy for the left boob. I have had blocked ducts maybe about 3 times and that is the feeling I have got. Sometimes it takes me about 24-48 hours to clear it via expressing and trying to latch DS onto it first. DS can usually clear it (despite his short latches) better than expressing. I had antibiotics on one occasion just in case it went onto mastitis but now I just keep an eye on the symptoms as the ABs led to DS getting oral thrush so I'm not as quick to turn to ABs.

We switched from infants friend to infacol but I'm switching back, I found it had a bit of a calming effect as well as a wind helper :)

Thanks girls glad its not just chloe. She has slept pretty well today,will see what tonight brings lol.

Chase has been lovely all day :) don't know what I did but I like it. The only thing now is the stinky stinky fluffs he does when i am BFing lol we are heading to Jacobs well tomorrow with SIL to see if we can go swimming, if its too cold we are heading back to beenleigh to the heated pool, so excited that I can finally get him in the togs i bought hehehe

Jenna, i know how you feel with the bras, all the b cup nursing ones i got are now big and they dont have any smaller sizes in them and my pre-preg ones dig in and are to small :( i know not the same, but still frustrating!!
who mentioned older siblings being pests and noisy? poor Allyssa cant sleep in her room during the day as K wakes her up, so i have her in a rocker on the dining table, and the past week T hass taken it upon himself, everytime she moves or makes a sound, he jumps up and climbes in it to give her kisses and cuddles, so for the last 2 days she has been grizly crabby and needing to be held, just when i was getting her to self settle, its out the window.

im regreting having her in our bed now. i needed sleep and the first few days, each time she woke she would wake Krystal up and they would spend the night screaming at each other, was easier to put allyssa in our bed, and k would stay asleep, now id love one night were i dont wake up with a sore arm/neck and back, its easier when there todlers you dont have to hold them in the right possition all night!

anyone else still getting bad cramps??

sarah: im with you on the bad cramps with bubby in bed. When DH is in bed with us I've taken to rolling out of bed once C is asleep and then curling up at the foot of the bed just so i can be comfortable with no chance of me rolling on him lol

kitty - DS is a windy baby too.

Sarah - no cramps here but starting to get some niggles in that area and am beginning to wonder if it means AF is just around the corner.

It's still a battle to give DS his bottle and he is taking half maybe 3/4 of his usual volume. Just did one which was almost his full quota. Seeing the nurse later today so will chat more about it to her then

I put Ella on Nan reflux formula yesterday because she has been real vomity and since the zantac is working i dont want her to bring it up.
And she slept from 7pm til 12:30 and then 1am until 6am it was awesome.

Anyone else ever used thickend formula for reflux it is harder to get a burp out of her.

AFM-I have been bleeding lightly for over 6 weeks now (tapered off at 4 weeks) for a few days then started again and last night i woke to a massive flood of bright red blood WTF! is it AF when i hadnt even stopped bleeding from birth or is there something wrong.

I only bled for a week and it was light as. Thought that was normal as they suctioned most of the blood during the Caesar? Anytime after 6 weeks is a period I thought but no clue if it is ongoing. Would assume because it is bright red that af is back though....

Well if it keeps going i am going to end up aneamic and i didnt think AF would show until i stopped post partum bleeding 1st i am sick to death of it.

That was like me with DD. Waited it out and it seemed to last forever. For some reason, even though my tubes are completely out of my body.. I am waiting on my period and anxious for it. Wt? Too many years on birth control I suppose, so used to taking the bloody thing! I hope it stops soon darlin. xx

Ferrals, I bled for 6 weeks after my first c-section and then got af two weeks later. Can't remember when I got af after my second one, but I bled longer, however I did have a uterine infection from the csection. If you are worried, please see a doc. Are you taking iron supplements still?

Having much better nights here with S since the medicine! Last feed at 8pm, then bed, woke up at 3, put her down at 4, she put herself to sleep then awake at 7.30!! Only one other child woke up last night, and that was when I was crawling into bed, so I actually feel quite rested today! The older two slept through! Woohoo!!! Thank god for small miracles...

Ferrals, with MJ I bled for about 4 weeks then got AF 2 weeks later.
Bleeding is just stopping here, so light it might as well not be here iykwim, A is 5 weeks now. As Mel said, if you are concerned see a Dr.

Sorry there are so many babies with reflux, but glad it is getting sorted and they are happier.
We have some of the symptoms, but not the screaming, pretty sure it's just wind though.

Jaki - I am feeding on the right side almost upright, she sort of lies between my boobs, sounds like what you are doing, sucks less air tgat way... Also that side has a faster flow and she keeps pulling off and getting sprayed!

Just got home from the maternal child health nurse. She thinks that DS might have some reflux as he has many of the symptoms but just not the crying. He isn't a crying baby just a grizzly one. We are seeing a paediatrician on Wednesday so will raise with him then. Am a bit worried about his head circumference which has dropped from 50th to 25 percentile. Have posted about this in another thread.

health nurses, Aghh, poo to them!! dont know why i tell her anythiong! next check im just going to play along and feed her what she wants to hear.
had yet another check today, was going great, she even called to let me know about a cancellation closer to school pick up so it was convienient for me.
she wants me to have a sleep consultan out as i told her how she sleeps in with me at night, else im up and down all night with both girls, and she hasnt had the best sleeps during the day, ds2 just wont leave the poor bugger alone, every 5 mins hes litraly on top of her trying to kiss and cuddle her, if she is asleep he claims she made a noise and woke:eyeroll:
then it came time for the bloody scales.... 110g in 2 weeks..... therefor "the supply just isnt there, go to the doctor and get a script for domperidome" apparently it will give me a full supply but once i take it i have to continue to take it untill its time to wean her, stoping it will instantly dry up the milk.

ive had her, i dont want to go back in a week, yup my bub is getting "weekly weigh-ins" as her weight is not a steady gain, befor she even got on the scales lee said "were going to push for a 400 gain"

sorry rant over, i should know by know not to listen to these people!
