BG - Is funny about the advice from hospital, what the hospital said to me regarding clots following my c-section is almost direct opposite from what yours said. They said any reasonably size clots or much fresh blood - and should get back in touch. We have to have a follow up hearing test at 8 months just because DH wears hearing aids (that has only come on recently so is unlikely to be something CJ has) but also my mum is deaf in one ear has been since birth (nerve in the wrong place or something).
Bridg - Welcome to the group
My parents arrive from UK this evening, dad for two weeks, mum for three, so I might be MIA for a bit, or maybe I will have more free time for posting who knows. I last saw them before christmas when they were over, so is not that long since last saw them. I don't envisage having any issues with them (along the lines you are talking about BG and Naomi) - but you never know I suppose, things seem to change with a baby in the picture.
When we left hospital the paed found CJ had a clicky hip, she was kicking fine and the paed seemed to think that might well clear itself up, the hip wasn't dislocated just made a clicking sound. Anyway the hospital said to arrange with GP for an ultrasound this week, however the MCHN said that even if do an ultrasound now that they will need to do it again at six weeks anyway so is a bit pointless to get it done earlier. Anyone know anything about clicky hips?
BG- Eeww!! I was planning on putting some soil in the pot first, then the placenta, then some more soil, and then the tree. Hopefully it doesnt leak blood.
KrystieLove- I have also heard that if u dont plant it deep enough, that cats and dogs can dig them up and eat them, and considering we have a cat, I dont fancy walking outside to see her eating it. Boen (sp??) therapy is supposed to be really good to help babies with wind. Maybe Google it, and see what u can find. My DS has wind problems too, but he generally either farts or burps them out.
Snacks- Well done for finishing ur birth story. I havent written mine yet, but my Doula did take notes and stuff, and she said she was writing one for me, so I'll add it here when she writes it. I can hardly remember much about labouring at the hospital.
Amy - love the birth story, I cant wait to do it all over again, when I re-read my or anyone elses story it makes me excited to relive and re-experience it all. We had a great afternoon, had a late lunch and then saw Angels and Demons which was awesome, I really enjoyed it. I love the Dan Brown books, especially Angels and Demons and the movie really lived up to the book (I am usually disappointed in the movie if made from a book as more often than not the intricate details are lost, but Ron Howard did the book justice.
Catherine - Continuing on from our Expressing convo a few posts back, I fed Bailey at 1230pm, left him with my Mum and by the time we got home and I expressed (as Mum had given Bailey a bottle of EBM shortly before we picked him up as he was ready for a feed) I was bursting and my BB were ready to explode. I expressed 250ml!!!!!! So much for having trouble expressing LOL - that was a mammoth effort, and now I have enough to really start my freezer stash.
Krystie - The IL aren't all bad, although my vent is accurate I know they mean well, they are just 'old school' and a bit insensitive and thoughtless at times. I know they love their grandson to pieces, they just have to remember that although he is their grandson - he is my son first and foremost. Hope Kysons first nightclub experience is fun LOL, and glad to hear his wind is improving - Bailey is now a champion farter, he gives Dad a run for his money
Niadla - I'm so jealous - Allira slept 8 hours - what a little legend sleeper you have - that is just awesome!
Vic - enjoy the visit from your UK family, I bet they are excited to meet CJ
BG - re the question regarding family health issues, DHs nephew has a chromosonal issue where he has an extra chromosone (chromosone 15 or 21 I think? I cant remember what the condition is called), anyway its really rare, like there are only a few cases in Aus. He is fine physically, but he is 7yo and has the mental development of about a 2 yo, can barely talk, isn't toilet trained etc and this worried me when we were pregnant, but it really is one of those rare things and we were reassured that its not heriditory, but fortunately Bailey is fine. There are a few other things I will be on the lookout for - Sean has bad ears and hearing and had grommets as a kid, also his eyes are a bit lopsided and there are a few other health issues on his side of the family, not too much to worry about on mine luckily. The other 'disease' I am worried Bailey may get from Seans family is that they are all Port Power supporters LMAO - I hope he is Adelaide Crows like Mum
Bridg - so from your tickler you have three boys? Congrats! My older brother and his family live in Shepparton, we are heading there later in the year - great place, very green!
Hi Everyone Else!!
Have a hair-dresser appt tomorrow - looking forward to it. I told my hairdresser that if I come in after having bubs and ask to chop all my hair off she was not to listen to me (as every new mother I know tends to go the chop for convenience). I am having a colour and a trim only My Hairdresser works from home (has a salon at the back of the house) and is really fantastic and told me to bring Bailey and as she has no other clients while I am there I can feed etc - legend, she is a Mum so is supportive
Well it appears that the whole BF = No AF theory is not right for me. I finally stopped bleeding (lochia) at about 5 weeks and now (2 weeks later) my AF has decided to visit - DOH, I was hoping the BF would keep it away for months to come, never mind. Perhaps because I started taking the mini pill. DH and I decided that in case of a 'miracle' natural conception we should use some birth control (the irony of going on the pill after trying to get pregnant last time still makes me shake my head), but the reality is that if we did get pregnant before I return to work next year, we would be in a difficult situation financially, so once I go back to work I will go off the pill again, and hope like hell something happens, we wont start 'trying' properly until Bailey is probably 2-3 but god it would be nice to get pregnant the 'normal' way
I think Bailey has had a 'wonder week' this week, he has really developed ALOT and is smiling now all the time (in response to us, rather than just random smiles) and is significantly more talkative, almost giggly and active, and has really changed alot. I know there is supposed to be a wonder week around 5 weeks, so wondering if I take his prematurity into consideration whether the timing is a little different for him (7 weeks) - any one know much about the wonder week theories? He had a few days last week where he was unsettled, cluster feeding and at times it seemed he didn't know what to do with himself (nor did we LOL) so his behaviour really seems to 'match' this theory. Seeing him smile is just amazing, especially when he smiles at me. We had the most active play session earlier tonight and he was just having so much fun (as was I) and its just so much more enjoyable to be able to interact with him more - it just gets better and better
Lastly I passed my "first day out without Bubs" with flying colours. I am really comfortable leaving him with my Mum and she is so respectful of our parenting ways, so was able to enjoy the time with Sean without worrying about him as I knew Mum had everything under control. It was great to have some couple time. We saw a couple out with their baby and Sean and I commented to each other that we felt like telling everyone we were parents, not just some random couple out and about LMAO I did miss him to bits though and when the movie finished I was so excited to go and pick him up hehehehe
Well, have a good week all, this week should bring Bella's babies arrival - very exciting - our last Belly Buddy Birth!!

niadla: i wish j slept for that long the most ive ever got is 5 hours except for whe nhe first came home those first days of long sleep are a distant memory we get some longer sleeps soon
just trying to come up with a plan for him to actually sleep in his bassinet not in the bed with mummy and daddy so we can have some alone time IYKWIM
Hey ladies, got room for one more.......
Will do my best to catch up with everyone in the next few days.
DH and I had our much anticipated baby boy Aaron on the 22nd May.
This is our first child and is a result of a second time lucky IVF cycle.
Everything is going well so far, although I have mastitis but the meds are finally fixing things.
One question I do have is in the last 2 days Aaron has started to get baby acne under his eyes and near his cheeks. Also noticed that since this time he has had a couple of really runny No2?? I have no idea if the two are linked together but am seeing the clinic on Thursday.
Anyway must try and get a few Zzzzz while the little one is down.
OMG, have had mastitis!! been in bed with shivers and sweating, thought i was going to die yesterday. worse than CS pain! boobs are soooooo sore and hard and heavy. but we are on the mend, redness is gone and she is feeding better. she gets wind pain at night and then munches and it sparked mastitis. just like it did with Q.
damn, she wants to feed AGAIN!!!
cant type with 1 hand will come back later.
Welcome Nicole!! We certainly have room for one more! Congrats on the birth of Aaron, looks like you had a long journey to have your little boy - how wonderful to welcome him to the world!!
Re the acne, I think most ppl refer to them as 'milk spots' and they are really common - infact our midwife told us not to schedule any pics around 4-6 weeks as they look shocking at this time, so it may get a little worse, but they will go away - Bailey is 7.5 weeks now and they are pretty much gone.
The runny poo is normal too (not related to the acne) - is Aaron BF? Baileys poo's are usually runny or really soft (and gooey so to speak), but definately run all your questions past your MW on Thurs, it will no doubt give you some piece of mind
On the poo front, Bailey is no longer pooing every feed, now its more every 2-3 feeds and they are massive (and messy) when he does, not sure what I prefer, big but less frequent or tidier little parcels LOL I always tell DH its his turn when I hear the 'explosion'
Right off to shower and get ready for the hair-dresser
niadla... OMG.... 8 hours?? i can't imagine that. our 6 year old doesn't even sleep that long!! LOL, ok, maybe he does now, but that has only just started! he used to wake up at 3am and want to watch cartoons thinking he was going to school soon. I am lucky to get 3 hours in a row with ralie now.
and as for the bed.... what bed? you can't see our bed there are so many of us in it!! LOL. DH is on the verge of setting up on the floor and leaving me with the kids! your lucky.
krystie... Q never used to burp either. and he had the most eratic feeding behaviour. i NEVER had a timetable or pattern with him until he was 18 months old. on the other hand Ralie burps well, and she farts and poos like a trooper!! it does sometimes cause her pain though and she gets a bit miserable. doesn't like the water either, where as Q Loved the water. still does. i have a little blow up bath for ralie, Q had one in london. now he is refusing to bath in the shower and insists on sitting in the blow up bath for AGES. LOL
naomi... i am lucky i get to stay home but we are poor. LOL 4 kids cost lots of money. TBH the money i would earn would all go in child care so it defeats the purpose we think. and its not for long. in a couple of years they won't all be so young and will be able to cope with part child care and school. we just sit tight financially for a bit. i spent all my time in london (when i was teaching) just cooking, cleaning, getting things ready for school, going to work, then shopping for the week, washing for the week... I NEVER got time to do anything with the kids! It was awful. at least if you are at work part-time you can take bub to playgroup or whatever and still have a balance. you don't have to go back till he is a year old too, and its hard to imagine cause he is so little. i left Q at 6 months and he couldn't sit up. but 2 weeks later he was able to sit up and i felt so much better about leaving him. the thought of him lying round helpless, crying and not able to move about used to make me cry and almost not able to go to work. if i had have been able to take the year it would have been much better. he wasn't even eating when i left him. at least by 1 they are eating as well as BF.
i am off now. its hot up here today. you all sound like you are down in victoria, (except i know cathy is just down the road). i am back in my summer clothes. love it love it love it!!! hate winter.
bloody freezing here today! i want spring or decent Autumn weather back! i cope better with the cold than the heat - and i prefer winter personally - but having to use the heaters to keep the house warm for E is doing my head in - esp when we have to venture out - hating it! i want those kinda in betweeny days back!
not a lot happening with us at the moment - Emerald seems to be feeding allllll the time at the moment - just got a call from the LC that i was dealing with in the hospital and she said it's normal for them to feed heaps around the 2.5-3 week mark, then again around 6 weeks - so i'm feeling less like my boobs aren't good enough, and more like my girl is just being a normal little piggy wiggy!
she's half snoozing at the moment in her bouncer - scrap that - she WAS snoozing - lost her dummy and daddy spoke, so who knows what the next few minutes will bring...
Welcome Bridg and Nicole! Congrats on the arrivals of your little ones!
Raindrops - I nearly died too! 8 hours was bliss, although I did wake up and make sure she was still breathing. It gets a bit freaky. Had another good night last night too. I shouldn't brag, but DS was HORRIBLE for 12 months, so this time is just bliss.
And I am jealous that you are in summer clothes! My toes are about to freeze off!
I hope the mastitis buggers off for you soon!
Naomi-7.5 week already??? That has just flown! I can't believe Allira is over a month old now!
With DS my Af came back after 4 weeks!! My lochia stopped after 10 days with him though. I was not happy that my body was ready to again so soon!! I am hoping it stays away this time. Enjoy your hair appt!I wish I could get my hair done... I just can't do the taking 2 kids out on my own just yet. DS is too full on.
JwithJ - I co sleep at times, and not at others. I have found DD loves being wrapped. When she's wrapped she'll sleep for ages in her bassinette. If she's unwrapped, she'll go about an hour before waking. We don't wrap her when she co sleeps though. You could try that? DS hated being wrapped so was in our bed until he as 4 months old and could sleep on his belly.
Well it's nearly feed time here. Then housework
I hope you are all well!
I gave peace both my boys are settled so i have sometime to myself.
Nicole welcome the acne is normal andy has and my first son did too. all babies do at some point.
ive got the worse headache, overtired.
i gotta get some study done as i have a test end of the week oh the joy lol. hmm i her andy making his funny nosies....
Nicole- Hiya chicky. Good to see Aaron is doing well. When I had the boys, I ended up with mastitis, so I know exactly how u are feeling. Hopefully it goes away soon.
BG- Its actually not too bad here today. It was a tad chilly this morning, but really nice and sunny now. I too hate the hot weather. I know how u feel about feeding all the time. Logan is feeding every 2 hours.
Niadla- Ur so lucky ur DD slept for 8 hours! That would have been soooo nice.
Congratulations Bella!!! The birth may not have been quite what you'd hoped for, but I'm sure the final outcome was well worth it! Welcome to the world sweet Jemima!!!
