Naomi, I was going to ask how Bailey went in his own room, then read your latest post. LOL! No pressure to move him out if you're not comfy. I was going to ask because I'm going to try Phoebe in her room tonight. I have her in there for day sleeps when we're home and she is so settled and happy in her cot, I thought I'd give it a go overnight to see if she likes it more than the hammock in our room.
Re the dream feed, I've heard them called the 'rollover' feed too. No nappy change and the burping depends on the baby. The idea is that baby stays asleep while they feed, so no unnecessary stimulation. And because they are sleeping and therefore very relaxed they rarely take in any air so the burping is often not necessary. You'd do it around 10ish in the hope that he'd drop that midnight feed, therefore giving you a longer block of sleep.
I tried it a few times with Natty once she started going to bed at a reasonable hour, but it didn't work for us - she either woke up and then needed to be resettled or she'd be so sleepy she wouldn't feed properly. I gave it up because she was a pretty good sleeper in the early days anyway.
Worth a try though- I know people who swear by it. GL!

Nicky, LOL @ the stickers. I have been known to strap Phoebe in her bouncer and put it on the dining table in order to protect her from Natty.
Away for the weekend - you legend! I hope you have a great time.

Amy - I have NO DOUBT that Bailey would have been absolutely FINE, I would have had a sleepless night though - LOL @ me

I read somewhere, maybe here, that its a good idea to have them in their own room by 5 month as they are more aware of the change in surroundings after that and its harder - so have given myself a deadline to have him in there around 4 months - so I still have another 6 weeks to share a room LOL

OMIGOD my baby will be 4 months in just 6 weeks - what the?

Snacks- Thanks for getting that thread for me. Its really his feeding routine I need to get worked out. Although he is sleeping and feeding overnight pretty good, and Im not as tired as I used to be. How nice of ur DH to let u have a morning nap. It would have also been good for Natty to spend some quality time with her daddy.

Naomi- I will add u when Im finished here. I know what u mean about wanting them to sleep in ur room. Logan is in with us, and I just feel he is too small to be on his own. We also havent worked out how and if the cot mattress can go higher if that makes sense.

Nicky- Yay for getting to go shopping. I know what u mean about not enough parent parks. Around here, people with no kids or prams still park in those spots. Lucky u for getting to go away for the weekend. Make sure u relax and enjoy urself.

AFU, We had the MCHN today. I asked her about Logans feeding patterns, and she said if I need to feed him to fit in with the kinder run, then to just wake him up earlier, and feed him earlier, or make him wait. I wouldnt be able to make him wait, because thats just too unfair. He now weighs 4.355kg and has grown aout 1cm in a week.

JwithJ - My GP didn't do alot either. It was more a talk about contraception (which I need to get cracking with). He didn't even check Allira (and he didn't check Lachie for his 6 weeker either 2 years ago nearly).
I am happy enough with my MCHN's checking the kids out. I've had fantastic MCHN's.

Bridg - If I have to be somewhere, and Allira will be due for a feed, I feed her just before I go. She's another who will not wait! If she's hungry, she's hungry NOW and no amount of shoosing and patting and kissing will calm her down. Milk milk milk woman! haha.

Another sleep brag - we got another 8 hours last night. Iam hoping tonight is the same. We are going to cosleep from the minute we go to bed as she tends to sleep so so well when in with us. MIL is taking DS in the morning, so I will have all day tomorrow to catch up on sleep if I need to, and finish packing.

Hi everyone! I hope you are all going really really well!!

J- I havent been to the gp since I was about 14wks pregnant.

Naomi- Thank u. I was surprised when he had blonde hair, and he has heaps! Bailey is gorgeous. He looks like a cheeky little monkey. Im sure he will keep u on ur toes when he is older.

Nicky- Im thinking of feeding him before we do the kinder run, so then he wont be screaming from one end of town to the other. Yay for 8 hrs! Sooo jealous! I added u to FB too.

AFU, We had an ok night. Logan had a bath, and hes really enjoying them now. Logan did a nice stinky poopie for daddy last night. I seem to cop them all during the daytime while hes at work, so it was his turn last night. Logan has also started to make laughing like noises, and is actually smiling at things, not just when he has wind. We are heading downtown today to buy a sleeping bag thingo for Logan as he likes to kick his blankets off.

    Hi Gals,

Well I am sitting here actually waiting for Bailey to wake for a feed - LOL! Normally I am wanting him to sleep longer. He is starting to have a regular morning nap rather than sporadic sleeps whenever, and an afternoon sleep or two as well. The good thing is I have been putting him in his cot in his room during the day which seems to be promoting a longer period of unbroken sleep.

I got an invite today from our CYH (same as the MCHN in the eastern states) to attend a Getting to Know your Baby Group - they run all different parenting workshops over 6 weeks and the good thing is that all the babies are born within a few weeks of each other - so it will be good to hook up with some Mums of bubs at the same age/development. I was whinging a few weeks ago about finding it hard to find a mothers group here so hoping this will provide a solution.

Amy - did you try Phoebs in her own room and how did that go? Re the dream feed, its not working for us. Bailey just doesn't feed well when he's sleeping and it actually means he wakes for a food sooner as he hasn't had enough so I think I'll stick with our current routine as realistically I have it pretty good as he is lasting anywhere between 3-4.5 hours between feeds at night so I am getting some good blocks of unbroken sleep.

Jacinta - I agree, we had much more time to be chatty pre our bubs arrivals LOL. At my six week check my OB only checked me out, we had a Paed appt at 8 weeks for Bailey. Good luck with Jamie's needles, hope he doesn't cry too much. Great growth by your little guy - Wow, he is doing really well, you are obviously doing a great job with him

Niadla - hope your time away is fab. And yes, you are such a bragger re Allira's sleeping patterns, good on ya mate, I'd be shouting it from the rooftops too LOL.

Brid - I am a big fan of the sleeping bags, I think thats one of the reasons Bailey sleeps so well, he stays warm and seems to know that the sleeping bag means sleep - I haven't gone out and bought a gro-bag as they are so expensive and he's growing so quickly atm, but have bought some sleeping bags from Best and Less which are soft and so warm for winter bubs - not sure if you have a Best and Less in Shepparton. I also put mittens on Bailey to keep his hands warm (and stop him from scratching his face, his nails grow so quickly I keep seeing little scratches on his face -so need to keep on top of that)

Hope everyone else is doing well!!

Naomi- Unfortunately, we dont have a B&L over here. If we did, it would be great. Logans hands get really cold too, but he always seems to pull his mittens off. I got a 'Snug as a bug' brand sleeping bag, and also got the snug as a bug wrap thingo that can go in his capsule. I looked at the Grobag, and they were $70! Hopefully u can meet some mums from the group, and maybe start ur own playgroup.

AFU, Well the sleeping bag idea went really well last night. I finally settled him at 1am, and he didnt wake til 4.15am for a feed, and then woke at about half 8 for another feed. Had a morning sleep, and then had a feed just before 12 noon. All I put on him in his sleeping bag was his nappy and his singlet suit thingo, and he stayed really warm. I just put some mittens on him, so it will be interesting to see how long they last.

A quick question- Do u mummies go by when they start their feed or when they finish it, to work out how long between feeds? (if that makes sense)

Yup, start of the feed here too. Good thing is that Phoebe is finally getting more efficient at feeding - we can feed and resettle within the hour now. Woohoo, LOL!
Naomi, yeah, Phoebe has been in her room the last two nights. She doesn't sleep any longer than when she was in our room (so I guess our noise didn't make a big difference to her) but I sleep better because I only hear her murmurs and crying, not the snorting, grunting, growling noises, LOL! Working for us so far. I felt a bit nervous at first - worried I wouldn't hear her as it turns out our monitor is pretty crap. But after last night when she woke me after only 1.5 hours in the first block ( little minx!) when I was DEAD asleep, I feel much more confident. Plus I could hear her chatting away to herself at 6:30 this morning and because she wasn't crying I didn't get up to her til 7. If she'd have been in our room I would've been worried about her waking DH or Natty, so wouldn't have gotten that extra half hour. Every little bit makes such a big difference to me atm - I am so shattered.
Hope you have a lovely weekend, Nicky!

We went to Kindy Farm at Natty's childcare this morning and she shocked me by having a ride on a pony! (Natty is VERY clingy and afraid of new things - my mum came too and we both were gob-smacked at how brave she was!) The bummer was I forgot the camera I'm hopeless.
Ok. Enough procrastinating - gotta hit the dishes while both girls are in bed. xx

Nicky- Have a great weekend. A meet up next time ur over this way sounds like a plan. Its going to be cold here this weekend, so I hope u have packed warm clothes.

Naomi- Thats what I thought too, but my Mum thought it was when he finished it. (Crazy lady )

Snacks- Its good when they feed and settle in the hr. I think the other night it only took Logan 45min, so he must have been hungry and not had much wind. Good to hear Natty enjoyed herself on the pony ride. J&Z are the opposite. They have no fear. How cute of Phoebe to be chatting to herself.

Aw Naomi, so sorry. Poor little mite. Do you reckon he's overtired? Phoebe is like that some nights - I just can't do anything for her. Hope he's not sick and that he settles down for you soon.
Bridg, Natty's always been a cling-on. She's also really scared of dogs, regardless of their size or temperament. Hence my surprise.
Yeah, Phoebe is verbalising a bit - sometimes she does it when she's whingy/crying - she'll actually say the word 'wah' LOL! Cracks me up. And after she sneezes she makes this sighing kind of noise. And when she's lying down and 'playing' she just makes little 'oooh', 'ahhh' noises. Very cute.

Amy - our girls sound very alike - i love the little post-sneeze sigh! E sounds like she has sucked in enough for another sneeze and then just lets it out on a sigh! so cute

dream feed - i will put E in bed with me and offer her the boob - she usually takes it within a really short time. i'll feed her, gently burp her, check if her nappy is wet (usually isn't - i've heard that new borns only pee when they stir, not during deep sleep) feed again, burp then back into her bed. in the past two weeks she's only fully woken up twice! it takes about half hour, she rarely gets much wind cos she's feeding gently not gulping like a starved little munchkin... last night we did this about half 5 when she woke up a bit (notmuch - she was stirring so i got to her before she cried) - back to sleep, then i woke up feeling mighty engorged on the other side around 8 when hubby woke me, so i did it all again, shower, breakfast, ready to go to the doctors - then changed her from sleep suit to "going out" clothes and she barely woke up! into the capsule, and by the time we got to the car she was awake - and talked all the way to GP (40 minutes), whole time we were there she was happy (got handed around friends that work there - no drama), and didn't actuallly cry til we went to a friends place, i fed and changed her and she wanted another feed but i handed her to B for first cuddles - she realised the boobies she was snuggling weren't mummy's and got upset. hardly anything else all day. bit upset at the shops, but nothing major - mummy got brave and breast fed her in the middle of the very busy shopping centre! sooooo scared to do it, but my girl needed a feed so i fed her. the parents room only has two cubicle things for feeding and it was lunch time so i didn't like my chances so just didn't bother...

have booked appt for her to have her 8 week injections but realised after we left that it's probablynot the best time - it's the day before her baptism and if she gets the grizzles she'll be a nightmare with so many people around the next day - so i'll ring on monday and change it to earlier that week (or early the next week - DH home the next week - that might be better esp seeing i have to have pap smear at same time...) makes more sense to have him there if she gets distressed. lucky friend lives about half a km from gp so we can go round there and feed and settle her again - make sure she is ok. council run jabs are when he will be away so i'm not keen to spend the night with an upset bubba on my own!

Naomi- Sorry to hear Bailey was upset. They say babies can sense a mothers tension or stress, so they normally do stop crying when handed to someone else. Logan does the exact same thing.

Amy- I love it when babies start gooing and gaaing.

BG- Good idea to wait til DH is home for injections. Just make sure u have some panadol on hand for E.

Well we had a crap afternoon. Logan spewed up a little bit, which is not normally like him. Then he was fighting his tiredness. Then J&Z were fighting. Logan woke up not long after DH got home, so he fed him, and I had 5 mins to myself.
