Bella - don't let anyone tell you not to share your positive mummy moments. this week it's your turn to have something to be proud of - next week, someone else might have something they're extremely happy with - are they to hush up in case they upset you? damn!! if we all kept our good mummy moments to ourselves in here, it would be one very dreary thread!
Naomi - i hope some day soon your IL's will work out that, even though they're being facetious, those comments can hurt - esp for a BF mummy! it's so hard to know how much your baby is getting, and no matter how confident you feel, those comments will cause niggling doubts - tell your MIL to go take a flying leap next time! or maybe say "he eats what i eat - so the only way i starve him is if you don't feed me right" and give her a backhanded insult lol had to giggle at the "good boy" to your DH's burp! i've done that to DH as well - our usual comment is "better out than in 'ay Donkey" - can you tell we like Shrek (DH and his bestie used to be called Shrek and Donkey on the CB's at work lol)
Well this will be a quick one but I did want to boast! I got my best ever sleep yet last night! Jemima decided that she just couldn't sleep last night without waking until about 10:30 which is around when we go to bed... Ussually she goes to bed at 8pm which is btwn 2-4 hrs before us. Were shift workers and we both mostly do afternoon or night shifts so our body clocks have been set to evenings, so even though she has slept thru, she hadn't slept thru on our time. Anyway. last night she slept 10.30 - 7 when DH's alarm went off and I swear she would hav slept longer if not for him making a racket in our room. I woke up so disorientated... couldn't believe it was morning!! But it was refreshing, but it was nice.
Now we have an unexpected house guest who is lovely but who we have stayed up all night talking to which is why i am up now... hope Jem sleeps late or I will pay for my indulgence..
fantastic news on the sleep front Bella! it's blissful but sooooo weird when you first start getting a decent sleep. E has been weird this week - a couple of nights of waking, one of sleeping through, another of waking, then slept through last night same hours as J - back asleep about 8 and still sleeping now - i'm fed, showered, dressed, and sitting here listening to her start to squirm on the monitor. we had a big day out yesterday and we're out again today (if daddy isn't home, mummy REFUSES to be a hermit at home all the time!) so i'm hoping she's in a good frame of mind today!
last night she slept while at a birthday party - through all the food and chatter, happy birthday, all the clapping and stuff - only woke up and got grizzly when the kids (it was a kids party!) started squealing cos they got their cake and stuff. i was so proud of her
DH has decided working on the weekend is fun but im bored lol he was gone at 8:30 so far bub is behaving but its only been 2 hours (background DH is unemployed but he sometimes helps his mate out with jobs today hes cutting up an old garbage truck and 2moro he's doing some welding used to be a welder)
J usually sleeps from about 8 to 8 with one feed about 2 sometimes longer since hes been doing it i've felt so refreshed its awesme when they sleep. he loves to play on his mat so far the amber bracelet is working on me i haven't had a headache since i put it on when i usually get at least one a day
Just a quickie - Bailey slept until 2am last night, one feed (he went 8 hours between feeds). I'm excited and hoping his little belly is growing and holding more milk, or maybe it will be a once off LOL
Naomi: LOL @ dust bunnies - you should've seen out place! It hadn't had a decent clean since my pre-Phoebe nesting days DH and I finished things off (inasmuch as you can 'finish off' a never-ending process) today as he took the day off. He spent 2 hours on our upstairs ensuite! Took apart the sink drain to clean, squeegied the wall tiles from floor to ceiling etc... It looks better than it has in years, LOL!
Oooooh, I LOVE fondue. What a great choice for dessert. Bleugh @ your MIL. What a shame she had to ruin what sounds like a good night. I applaud you for putting up with that crap as much as you do. And you are an awesome Mum. I know its not quite as meaningful on here as IRL, but I love reading your posts and hearing your opinions on mummy matters. You are so obviously in love with your little bloke and the ease of your transition into motherhood has been inspirational - you're a natural! Should be your MIL telling you this to your face. But I hope you realise how true it is.
BG: Hope Miss E has continued to be kind to you on the sleep front. IKWYM about needing to get out - I am the same. Being at home all day doesn't appeal to me at all.

So bummed. Phoebe did a 6-hour stretch tonight but we had people round for dinner so I missed 2 hours of it We are headed out to a big lunch @ my folks' today, with a dozen adults and several young kids. Natty's going to love it.
OMG, how cold is it?!! Phoebe is having a very light sleep right now - I know if I put her down she'll wake after 10 mins (enough time for me to get back into the warm bed, lol!) so I might get my granny blanket and have some lounge time. Hope you're all having a good weekend.
ahhhh my good sleeper seems to be back! not that she's a good sleeper during the day, but at night, it's good. i think it helps me to not miss DH so much if we get a good night of sleep. if she wakes, i call him cos i just miss him so much! E's day sleeps are still all over the place - and when she feeds she is still refusing to burp which means she's in pain as well as being grumpy from tiredness so gets so worked up! poor poppet
went to mum's for lunch and dinner yesterday. one of her neighbours that we're both friends with was having a digital scrapbooking presentation. seeing i was given the software for E's baptism, i thought i'd turn up and scope it out, hoping to get some hints - i learnt more in the half hour i played with it the other night on my own! i was telling the consultant how to do stuff - and she was supposedly trained! grrrrr not happy. consultant was useless so i didn't spend much money (only spent what i did to do the right thing by the friend having the party) - spent most of last night downloading free add ons from the net - am really looking forward to working on some stuff for E (and probably our wedding - only been a few years lol). E was pretty good seeing she had a 12 month old little boy all over her - he's about to become a big brother in Dec and they want him to have plenty of time with bubbas so it was really good for him.
E has started actively looking for DH when he is on speakerphone or when i ask "where's daddy?" pokes her tongue out at granpa - and whe he says not to, she does it more lol! last night at dinner she was trying to grab at my food so mum gace her a plastic spoon to play with. she grabbed it and put it straight in her mouth! licked it, then extended it towards my plate and back to her mouth. so very very cute,
i was crook last night but she slept really well thankfully. we only surfaced about an hour ago lol

I wish I were artie enough to do scrapbooking. SIL (my brother's wife) is really into it and she's so good at it. We did an album for my grandfather's 90th. All the kids and grandkids (and some great-grandkids) did a page. Ours looked so boring compared to their ones, LOL! DH is the visual person in our relationship, so I'm getting him to create albums for the girls. He's been saying for the last 6 months that he's going to do a coffee table book of Natty pictures through his work... Still yet to see any evidence of that though.

Hey all. I'm still here. Tough week... poor Ivy is only just getting better today and has been so snotty and sad, poor sweetheart. She's practically threatening to call DHS on me for assault with a tissue as she now recoils and starts to cry every time I put a tissue anywhere near her nose. On top of that, DH has been working really long hours so I've been pretty-much solo-mummying. BG I don't know how you do it with DH on the road so much. OMG I love my girl to pieces but at the end of a long day of tears and cuddles, I still just need the physical space from her when I can hand her over to DH for a while.
I'm sorry I'm not going to manage persies as usual. I'm hopeless, I know but there's just so much going on here, I start reading back and trying to take notes and my head starts swimming! I'll try and keep up more, but this week's already looking hectic with friends here from overseas. BG - thanks and you are right, they are just facetious comments but they still sh*t me to tears. I think of all sorts of smart ars** replies but I only say them in my head LOL, its easier to keep the peace and DH would get upset. Amy thanks for the Mummy compliments also - I think I needed my Mummy ego stroking and you guys came to the party LMAO. Seriously though, I guess its tough sometimes as I've gone from a fast paced job where I got lots of feedback and recognition constantly to the thankless task of being a Mummy and sometimes I feel like a bit of a nobody - Boo Hoo to me, having said that it IS the best job in the world, but Kat I TOTALLY agree with you too, I do enjoy when DH takes Bailey and I get that little bit of time and space - its definately a must for Mummy sanity. Glad Ivy is on the mend, sorry to hear its been a tough week. Dont worry about the persies, I only do them when the little guys is asleep or when DH is on baby duty (I think most of my post are later at night LOL)
Amy - loving the Zoo pix, looks like a great family day! We went up to Harndorf today (a german town in the Adelaide Hills) and went to lunch at a brewhaus (very exciting for DH) and then to a chocolate factory (very exciting for me) and had a great day. Had to pull over in the middle of the hills and feed the little guy in the car (finding places to breastfeed sure is tough sometimes as although I'll happily feed in front of people I know or in parents rooms, I'm not one to pull out the boobies in a german pub LOL).
Jacinta - saw you latest pics and Jamies amber necklace - NICE!! I checked and the last time Jess logged in was in our thread on July 19th, so perhaps she is busy with her studies, I might also send her a message on FB to see how she is going

AFU - Bailey is constantly sticking his hands in his mouth atm, as soon as the dummy is out, his hands are in, or if in the car he pushes the little padding that covers his seatbelt in the car seat into this mouth - everything goes in the mouth - included DHs fingers. His little tooth has come up more and its really sharp - luckily its a bottom tooth so his tongue covers it while BF'ing hahahha
Have been keeping an eye on flights for late Nov, nothing real cheap as yet - Kat did you have somewhere in mind for that meet up, we might need a back up plan in case of weather issues too

Naomi, I'm thinking botanic gardens might be best as I figure those from far away are most likely to be staying in the city... and the gardens are an easy walk / tram. I'm thinking I might go in there one day and have a wander and see if I can find a good spot. There's also BBQs along beside the Yarra which might be nice and would give the DH's something to stand around!! If it's raining there's always Southbank which is also central and has plenty of eateries but I'm not sure about that... it's great for prams etc but will be pretty chaotic and noisy.
What sort of environment do we want gals? I keep having an image of a picnic, but a) I guess it's going to be tricky for those travelling to organise food, and b) we need a rain contingency.
My plan was to have a chat about it with the girls coming to the Sept meet and hopefully we can come up with something but suggestions prior are very welcome.
Kat - the picnic idea is great (weather permitting obviously), but I like it. If it has to be indoors somewhere open with roomy seating (a cafe with lounges etc?) might be good but I dont know Melb enough to know if somewhere like that exists, if it does we could contact the venue and 'book' some space maybe. We SHOULD be safe with mild weather in November but you never know do you....
Us travelling girls can be creatively boring with our contributions - eg I can bring plates, drinks, chips, etc (something I can grab from a supermarket on the way LOL)
This reminds me that when I went out with one of my GF for breakfast a few weeks ago we went to this parent friendly cafe and I remember thinking how cool it would be to open a Family Friendly Cafe that catered to Mothers Groups and the like, and was BF, toddler friendly etc - if only I had the funds to do it, I reckon I could make it work a treat. I'd set up a feeding area with some comfy seating and discreet screening so Mums were comfy and at ease, and handy change station, and a little self service area for warming bottles/baby food, and a cool play area for the bigger kids in the middle so the parents could see it from any seat/table, and LOTS of room for prams ................ maybe one day!!
Kat - DH will prob come along to the Nov one. Thanks for organising this. I will have a think about where might be good for Nov if the weather is no good - if weather is fine a picnic in Botanic gardens sounds good (the BBQ's by the Yarra aren't bad but if the weather is good can be a pain to get one and they are in pairs and last time we went the one next to us was occupied by a load of drunks they were good natured enough but a bit of a pain) - I can scope out where would be a good spot in the gardens (not too far from toilets etc) if you like, we are often in the city. Naomi - I was thinking why is it IL's who tend to make those types of comments - mine do too "Are they starving you?" etc etc, and I reckon is probably just because if my parents said anything like that (have done occasionally I think) I tell them to "rack off" (ha that makes me laugh that I thought rack off and not get lost because rack off you wouldn't say in England at all - I am becoming an Aussie hurrah!) - but I just keep stum with the IL's. My MIL seems to be obsessed with having CJ to herself (she is in the UK) when we go back for a visit in October she has suggested that we leave CJ with her while we go to Barcelona (she doesn't seem to get that we are BF and couldn't leave her for that long even if wanted to - which I certainly don't!), that she will take her for first swimming trip (if allowed brace off) and that she will teach her everything. It gets up my nose a bit, we want to spend time altogether why does she want to take over!
Jacinta - where did you get the amber necklaces from? Enjoy the new car. Like the comparison pic you have put of Jamie and yourself on facebook, I keep meaning to do one. CJ's head shape, ears and mouth are like me but eyes and cheeks are like DH.
Amy - what does your DH do? Photography of some sort? Looked like a great day out at the zoo. My mum forced me to make a little picture book of CJ so she can show off to her friends (I use an American site called QOOP because it links to Flickr where store all my pics) so now her and the MIL and a great grandma have this little photo book which they force poor unsuspecting people to look at! My favourite possession is this photo frame my parents bought us for our wedding is a digital one pretty big 21 inch I think and it connects via wireless to flickr and displays photos from RSS feeds you subscribe to, so all our pics of CJ show up on there, as do any pics friends and family load up to flickr. Company are called Photovu and their slogan is Photos - out of the shoebox and onto the wall - I am so determined not to end up like my parents who have boxes of photos and sometimes can't even work out which child it is!
Bella - Hurrah for the great sleeps from Jem, our bubs do sound similar in sleeping. CJ is sleeping so well at night now has done 8:30pm to 7:00/7:30 for a whole week now, but will only catnap in the day, and still can't get her to go down in her cot in day. As long as she gets the catnaps she doesn't seem too irritable though so maybe she can just cope on catnaps (I am pretty good at feeling refreshed after half an hour or so, so maybe she is like me) or maybe once she gets more active will sleep better in day.
BG Glad E is being so good for you regarding sleeps as well. What is the name of the software you are using for scrapbooking? I work in IT and am pretty good at figuring things out for myself and it does often amaze me how little people who are supposed to be training you know about the product. Although I have also delivered training and it can be very hard work - but it is one of my favourite parts of the job.
AFU - We are good, CJ has lots of scratches on one side of her nose, she has started sucking her thumb but hasn't quite worked out how not to poke herself in the eye or scratch her nose while doing it. I am not fussed about her sucking her thumb but not pleased with the scratches - she has drawn blood on two occasions - she doesn't seem to care though and makes such a row sucking her thumb! Got a Baby Einstein DVD out the library and she seems to enjoy that (although DH said yesterday morning "Please no more classics on a Casio keyboard". He was sick yesterday, some sort of stomach bug up most of Sat night being sick or on the loo - so have kept him away from CJ, but was a bit disappointing as we were planning to go out for the day and weather was lovely yesterday. I think he got it from eating sample nuts at a fruit and nut store (only thing we ate diff on Sat). Finally had Mothers Group last week, unofficial one as real one doesn't start till 27th Aug, but was good to meet up with people will be doing it with - 4 of us had bubs born within a couple of days of each other and one was a bit younger - think will turn out to be fun. This morning CJ seems to have some very sore looking areas on her bum - have some MooGoo waiting at post office to pick up so hopefully that will sort it.

Oh and I told my mum off yesterday because she called CJ brilliant for sleeping through the night - I said she would be brilliant even if she didn't and she was wrong to suggest she was good or bad based on how she sleeps. I am lucky, but who knows how long it will continue and if she does start waking in the night is for a reason, even if that reason is just needing a cuddle, is fine with me. Now mum agrees and has promised to stop doing the other thing that annoys me which is her first question was always "how did she sleep last night" - as I think she is so much more interesting than her sleep habits.

How are we all? I've been busy even with a stuffed leg. My tail bone is much better though.
Allira is doing well. She's starting to get fussy at the boob like DS did at the same age. Luckily I've been through it before and we can usually work out how to get around it.
She had a bad night Saturday night ( haha it's only bad because it was different to what she normally does and we just aren't used to it), and woke at 3am for a feed. No worries, fed her, but she then decided she wanted to get up and it took DH and I 2 hours to calm her down and get her to sleep. She then only slept for one more hour. Luckily she didn't wake DS until 6am, but that was the start of our day I was buggered by about 2pm.
She wasn't too bad last night, waking at about 4am for a short cry before she took her dummy and went back to sleep until 7.30am. DS on the other hand has decided 6-6.30am is his new wake up time now that he can get himself out of bed. Which moves his morning sleep to 9am which I HATE. I was trying to get him to wait at least another hour this morning, but he kept asking me to go to bed, so I let him. Not looking forward to this afternoon when he gets cranky at 4pm but I can't put him to bed otherwise he'll be up all night. The joys. LOL
Osteo trip seems to have really helped with Allira's flat spot. She's moving her head freely between each side now which is good and doesn't seem to have a favourite anymore. I've got another visit to the osteo on Weds, and then we'll see how things are going.
Ok with the meet. I had a meet with some other net friends at the botanical gardens a few years ago. I'd probably prefer to be away from the waters edge if I have to bring DS.
I remember having lunch in a cafe at the gardens before catching up with my friends, and it was quite roomy so would be good for prams. I think it was not far from gate 'A' but that's from memory. We found parking around the gardens on a Saturday was pretty good too. Just thought I'd share in case any of that helps
Has anyone else got a Bumbo seat? I am thinking of getting one for Allira so she can sit up ( would also help with the flat spot if she's not placing pressure on her head). I might ask the osteo what she thinks, because I was always worried that they might damage a babies back... but have heard that they are good for them. They are expensive, but I think it will come in really handy. We'll see.
