Jacinta: How are the eyes today?
Kat: Oh, poor Ivy! I hope she's much better again soon.
Can you add me on to the list for the November one? I just booked my tickets this morning! Woohoo! Are the gardens easy to get to from the airport? (Was just thinking of public transporting it rather than hiring a car...?) I'm happy for a picnic - it should be easy enough to pick up a sandwich and something to share from a shop somewhere, shouldn't it.
I hope you have a great time with your OS mates this week.
Naomi: Love your cafe idea... I'll buy a franchise, LOL! Oooooh, love the sound of the chocolate factory And PMSL @ the thought of pulling a boob out in a pub... Don't think I'd bring myself to do that either.
Vic: Love the sound of your photo display (and the books!). Yeah, DH is a wedding and portrait photographer. Means he can get good deals through work but he's just lazy about doing our stuff because its what he does for other people all day, KWIM? He hasn't even taken many photos of Phoebe Phoebe has a couple of scratches on her nose too from sucking her fists - she hasn't worked out that her thumb/fingers would be easier to fit in her mouth, LOL.
I remember getting that sleep training thing on the email a couple of years back. I think it is hillarious.
Nicky: Sorry the kids have been mixing it up with the sleep. That's my worry about putting Natty into a bed - I'm scared she'll start getting up at sparrows! She doesn't sleep during the day (except in the stroller), so I desperately need her to keep sleeping in in the mornings.
We don't have a bumbo, but I have heard mixed things about them. I've heard people say they are fantastic for giving them a different perspective, also for keeping them immobile once they start to crawl. I've heard they're handy to take places with you for feeding them solids. I've also heard that they're not good for baby's developing back, but my personal opinion on this is that just like a jolly jumper or a bouncer or a baby bjorn or a lie-down gym, you wouldn't leave your baby in it all day long. Perhaps if you did, it would adversely affect their physical development. Everything in moderation is just fine IMO, and I'd use one. Its just not a priority for me (cause yeah, I've heard they are quite exxy).

Well, I'm super excited about coming down in november! I've never been to Melbs before (even though I have and aunt and cousins down there ! I'm just not very close to them).
Phoebe is having a lovely nap right now... I have pegged out some washing, had lunch, booked flights, talked to DH and posted on here, and she's been asleep all that time! I might jump on the wii in a minute... she'll be sure to wake up then

ETA: WB Jess! Glad you have finished your assignments off - that must be a relief. Do you think you'll join us for lunch in November?

Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh only just had a shower, Bailey is very clingy and I'm exhausted, on a brighter note, he just did a poo after 5 days and Dad is changing it - LOL @ Dad

I must book some flights - What time do you arrive/leave Melb Amy? I might try to find similar times if possible and we can make our way from the airport together

    Back later

Naomi, fully intended to PM you this afternoon and ask you if you wanted to meet up and travel from airport together... Just forgot! I arrive in Melbs @ 8:45am and don't leave until 8:15pm ( the earlier flight was at 3:15 and that was too early). I was amazed at how quickly the flights that were there last week have disappeared... e.g. the red-eye @ 6am that was only going to cost $30 is gone, as is the 7:30pm flight that I had been looking at. Pleased though - the whole trip including a day's parking @ Syd airport has cost me $160. I was pretty happy with that.
Anyhoo, I am happy to hang around and wait if you arrive after me - Phoebe and I can have a bonding day and have a coffee together... or several
Sorry Bailey has been hanging off you today. Gosh, that's tiring. Hope you have a good rest tonight.

    Hey all,

Well i will just make this a quick one cos it's been a long day and i just want to go sit and relax!! Jemima has a head cold and is feeling miserable! She has been really unsettled all day and just hasn't wanted to be put down at all. We gave her panadol at 11am cos we had tried everything else and low and behold she was asleep in 30 mins. same at 3 and again at 7 although she didn't go straight to sleep, she was out by 8pm. It seems that she is in pain Shes turned into a little snufflufugus! Today she woke after just 30mins asleep and went straight back to sleep, but only in my arms. just refused to be put down. So I have borrowed my sisters vaporiser and put some euki bear on her chest and i hope she has a more settled night than last night cos she woke 4 times o/n. Not that I blame her, her snuffly little nose keeps waking her I think. Anyway I think I am in for a long night so I will go now. Love to you all.

Aw, poor Jemima! I'm glad the Panadol is helping her - it is good when you feel like you are able to do something for them, hey. Vaporisers are worth their weight in gold IMO. Ours has been soooo useful over the last year.
I have been looking up flights for you, but no luck I'm afraid It is yucky expensive, plus it's hard to find direct flights. It's so disappointing.

We can amuse each other and Bailey and Phoebe to and from the airport etc

    Hello ladies.
    I am still here.
Everytime I go to write a post, I get interrupted.
I have been lurking and reading, and feel bad for not getting on and posting. Logan has been unsettled, and I have been extremely tired. The boys have been misbehaving quite a bit, so Im feeling a tad down at the moment.

Im still coming to the meet in November. Leigh said he will take the Monday off, so we can stay the night.
I have been keeping up with everyone on FB, and I must say we have some pretty cute bubbas in our group.

Im with Nicky on the no water idea. I will be bringing Jake and Zac, and they have no fear, and are very curious. Whats Federation Square like?

Anyhoo, Im off to bed since Logan is finally asleep. Will make an effort to come back tomorrow while J&Z are on their kinder excursion and do persies.

Again... you girls are amazing. SO excited that you're going to make the interstate mission!

We'll make sure we stay away from water and that wherever we choose is easy to get to from the airport. Prolly easiest way to botanic gardens from Tullamarine is to get the 'sky bus' which is the shuttle from the airport to Spencer St Station, and then the train 'round the city loop to Flinders Street station. Then the gardens are perhaps a 15 minute walk away. If we end up in the gardens we'll obviously pick a spot that's easy to reach from Flinder's St.

Vic if you're in the city some time soon, it would be fantastic if you could check it out! I'm never there - as you know, we live miles out.

As for the rain contingency... still not sure. Fed square is nice, but from the little I've experienced, the cafe's are kinda smallish and usually PACKED so probably not so great for prams. Again, Vic you might know more than me.

Bella - hope Jemima is feeling heaps better. It's horrible when they're sick isn't it? Glad the panadol worked. I haven't tried it yet, and didn't think to with a cold... worth a go next time.

We're having a lovely week. Friends are here from Seattle - my old housemate who I lived with when I first moved out of home - and it's sooo good to have them back, if just for a 'loan'! It's brought the old 'gang' out of the woodwork and we've got quite a few catch-ups planned. Going away to the Grampians with everyone this weekend which I'm really excited about as we haven't been away since Ivy came along. Will be so nice to 'go bush' for a few days.

    GTG... someone's awake!

Kat - thanks for the sky bus info, what timish do you reckon our get-together will be on the 22nd? I'll make sure I arrive in Melb with plenty of time. Poor Amy and I will be coming from different airports so I might fly in a bit later

Bridg I feel for ya, we are having a weird week too, not sure why its not a wonder week, just having a feeding frenzy and I am not deal with lack of sleep as well as normal

BG - bugger re the nightmares, as if you need a sleepness night like that!!!

We put Bailey in his room last night (in an effort to get more sleep), it didn't really improve things in anyway, if anything it was just further to walk in the cold to settle him - ah well

Back later, lots to do today

    MELBOURNE MEET-UPS...
(yes, I am finally going to make some kind of decision - but am still willing to be told that it's better another day or a diff place!)

    • Tuesday September 15th @ 1pm. Lunch at the cafe at Collingwood Children's farm (This was recommended by another BB member as parking and pram friendly and is kinda north-east of the CBD so I hoped it would suit people coming in from all directions as much as possible). Here's a link...
The Farm Cafe at the Collingwood Childrens Farm - home

      AND

    • Sunday November 22nd - Picnic lunch at venue TBC. I'm thinking either botanic gardens or Fairfield boat sheds but want to check out parking and access a little more.
Kris Kringles for bubs to be arranged once we know who's coming.

Please save the dates and RSVP if you can come. Would be wonderful to meet some interstate girls and bubbas too but I know it's quite a mission!
    Oooohh I'm so excited already!

Jess - good to hear from you, glad everything is well, no wonder you are MIA with your studies etc, cant imagine how busy that keeps you, very jealous re the 8 hours

So a question for the Breast Feeding Mums with long sleeping bubba's, Are you giving your babies more feeds or do they feed longer before going down for the night? (I am no longer Zen Amy, just seriously sleep deprived). How many feeds do they have during the day? Hoping I can stumble across a tip that may help me 'fill' Baileys belly so he sleeps longer (and therefore me). The thought of 'topping' him up with formula has crossed my mind but I am reluctant too in case he then refuses the boob or breast milk and I'd rather keep him on breast milk exclusively until he starts solids at six months (its only 2 months away so if I can hang in there perhaps once on solids he will sleep longer??)

I might post in the BF forum for some feedback too

Naomi - e feeds about every 1.5-2 hours during the day from lunchtime til 10 when she goes to bed (yes its late, but its working lol!), at 10 she feeds in bed for as long as she wants - usually 40mins plus. i feed laying down in bed so i'm resting too. once she is off for the night (she will come off a couple of times but nuzzle back on) she gets moved to her bed - we put on herb light and music show and as a rule, thats it. occassionally she'll grumble til we get her a dummy but not often.... her ave night is 8 hours, good night is 9.5

Naomi - In the day CJ feeds about every 3 hours sometimes goes 4 but mainly 3. At about 7:45pm DH or I give her a bottle of EBM (sometimes only 30ml depends how much I have expressed) and then she has a BF often for about 30 mins. After about 10 mins of cuddling / burping I put her into her cot (she is normally half asleep - we warm the cot up with a hot water bottle first), sometimes she will wake half an hour later and I just pick her up she burps and goes back to sleep. I have no idea whether is the extra milk in the bottle feed that is helping her sleep through till about 7:00am but she has done it everynight since starting giving her the EBM - I only started doing it to get her used to the bottle. She was always a pretty good sleeper though with normally only one wake up, perhaps because is a big baby - so not sure if that is any help.
