Having a hell of a time with the kids lately. DS has been suffering night terrors and night mares for the past month and Allira's cutting her eye teeth... so we're SUPER tired.
So busy too.

Just jumping in to wish everyone a most amazing Christmas - i know it's the second Christmas with our little terrorists, i mean, TODDLERS, but they are all so much older and so much more switched on - it feels like that first Christmas all over again!

we are mostly ready - need to do a last minute clean up ready for a friend to stay the night (Sopdet) and then we're off to my brothers tomorrow for lunch. need to finish wrapping when E crashes, and set up her outside fort thing (thanks again Naomi for finding it - please tell me it's easy to put up!). We've got the annual job of making chocolate ripple cake or part of dessert, so this year i've made two - a peppermint one in the shape of a candy cane (with red stripes and all!) and a "plain" one with green cream in the shape of a tree, which i'll decorate tomorrow. we also get to cook roast lamb (in the oven as i type) and it's my job at all family get togethers to make the gravy - it's becoming apparent that no one is ever going to take on that job - they keep saying i make awesom gravy (which i do lol) but i think it's more laziness on their part!

looking forward to hearing and seeing your Christmas stories on FB - i have a new lens for my camera, and doubled the memory... oh, and go a tripod, so i'm sure i'll be a bit of a snapparazzi!

Girls - I also wanted to pop by to wish you all a Merry Christmas, I agree with Lee, our munchkins are much more aware of Christmas this year. I love that every time Bailey see's a Christmas Tree or Christmas Lights he stops, points and says 'pweettyyyyy' with a big smile on his face

hmmm christmas we already started couldnt help it gave jamie his pressies tonite he got a little slide and a ball pit oh and a plate bowl cup spoon and fork set with monkeys on got lunch with the IL's 2moro and going over to my mums on sunday and looking at the house were hopefully moving into yay

Sorry I haven't been around as much... we're struggling with Lachie's lack of sleep/ Screams like he's dying every single night. He's gotten worse and other things are starting to happen with him... it's really frustrating and sometimes scary. I just wish he culd go back to his normal self ( oh and a full nights sleep would be nice! haha).
At least he slept all night Christmas Eve.
Allira's well now after having a old for a couple of weeks... but she did break out in a rash on Christmas Eve that looked like chicken pox. It had gone down by Christmas morning though... so no idea what it was.
We've had a fun time around here of late... PMSL.

not a lot happening here - i've just come off a four day migraine between Christmas and New Year - not fair!. finaly thought last night was all ok - and then last night, i ended up with serious head spins, hot flushes, feeling like absolute hell - DH had to help me onto the floor with my legs up on the chair, windows open and cold cloth on my head. NFI what happened but it scared me. i also discovered a lump yesterday, so off to the GP during the week to see what is going on there. blurgh! had a moment of panic at first, but now i'm just annoyed - 2011 was supposed to start (and continue) a lot better than this!

BG - Hope you are feeling better soon, and that E gives you a bit of room (from your other post) - I feel a bit like that with CJ sometimes, she is so all over me at the moment, and has developed a very annoying habit of posting things into the bin.

Nicky - any luck with the night terrors. We had some with CJ but she was much littler, and all could do was stay with her, putting a hand on her seemed to shorten them but nothing stopped them. I imagine they are much worse at an older age.

Krystie - can't believe you are 37 weeks - time does fly by - will be watching out for your BA.

Had my 12 weeks scan today - got to see bubs at last. All good - heart rate of 155BPM, measuring slightly ahead of my dates - saying I am the 12th rather than the 17th but am going to stick with the later EDD - no idea when I O'd, and I did get my BFP quite early and my HCG looked high so is possible O'd earlier I suppose, but only 4 days after end of LMP seems a bit early to me anyway. So happy to see all is good - bubs looked very similar to CJ really.

Vic - the same thing happened with me when I was pregnant with Allira. I stuck to my later dates aswell Apparently I got a BFP at 5DPO according to their dates...:S. Glad to hear all is going well!!

Not luck with Lachie yet. It seems to be getting worse. It's affecting him in other ways now and he's wetting the bed on occasion. His behaviour is also shocking! I just don't know what to do... I've tried everything that people have suggested. I'm going to talk to the GP in the next 2 weeks when I hear back from him about his voice issue.
having kids is fun! hahahaha.

Not much happening really. Kids are pretty good apart from that. We're moving in 2 months so I'm VERY slowly packing a few things. We've packed all the photos and a few of the little trinkets we had in the lounge room.... I really have to get sorted with the kids room though!

Nicky - I am sure you are well across this idea so apologies in advance if you've tried it already, but my godson was having night terrors about 6 months ago now and I know one of the techniques offered to my g/f was to try to be up with him when they started, apparantly they commonly happen at a similar time per night (eg at the same time within a sleep cycle, assuming Lachie goes to bed at the same time each night), anyway just ignore me if this is no use, but thought I'd put it out there JIC Hope he gets back to normal for you soon babe, that must be upsetting and frustrating for you

Vic - glad to see the pregnancy is out in the open, its such wonderful news to share - you must be getting some lovely well wishes for your growing family

Hi Everyone Else - it seems we communicate much more efficiently via FB these days

We are good, recovering from a few days with trying houseguests (read my post in platimum https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...d.php?t=152153 ) and today Bailey threw a massive tantrum that just left us flabbergasted, and crying, it was horrible, basically he did not want to go down for his afternoon nap, he had a physio appt looming a few hours away and he really needed a sleep, so stupid me forced the issue and he just cracked it, then lost all control, ended up throwing himself around his bedroom and actually made himself vomit as he was so worked up and hyperventilating. So I held him close while he just screamed and cried for what seemed like an hour, finally he whimpered to sleep and sobbed in his sleep for the next half an hour - it was the most heartbreaking thing I have ever witnessed and I had NO idea what the right thing to do was? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated - hopefully we will never get to that point again, I ended up cancelling the physio appt as I did not want to wake him - which was the whole point of trying to get him to sleep, so in hindsight I achieved nothing other than completely upsetting my baby We've just come off some trying days with a full house of guest and his routine was completely out of whack so I think that also had a lot to do with it, but golly gosh! He also seemed to have a stomach upset this arvo - which I dont know if it was a result of the tantrum and vomiting or just a coincidence so we ended up dosing him up with nurafen and dymadon to relieve his upset (it seemed to work, my happy little man came back) but I think I am still reeling from the shock of it all

Whew!! This parenting gig is tough sometimes, 95% of the time I find it delightful despite entering the stubborn, willful yet amazingly wonderful world of toddlerdom, but then a day like today happens and it throws you for a 6 - eeeek!

Tomorrow once we get our damn car to the mechanic we are going to have a Mummy/Bailey Date - to the pools or to the playcafe - come hell or high water, its the last day of my holidays

Nay: I am so sorry for the crappy visit from your brother and the family, especially as you've spoken so highly of them in the past... I could taste the disappointment as I read the details. That really sucks.
Re Bailey's tanty, I have found the last couple of days P has been REALLY hard to put to bed and DH dealt with a tanty of massive proportions tonight at bedtime and neither of us know what the problem was. So is he still having 2 sleeps a day?
Nicky: Sorry to hear about Lachie's night terrors. We haven't experienced it here so don't have any advice but I hope the GP helps. GL with the move!
Vic: Yay for the u/s! Glad bubs is looking healthy and (if just like CJ) cute I so KWYM about good shoes being pricey. I got a hammering from the nurse at Natty's 4yo check the other day because she was wearing silly girly shoes and it made her supinate her foot as she walked. I felt like saying, "yes, but have you SEEN how much Clarks shoes cost? And have you ever tried to tell a very girly 4yo she has to wear her sneakers with that pretty skirt and not her ballet flats?"
BG: That is very scary indeed. Have you been checked over yet? What's the update?

Hi everyone else! A belated Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you all
I didn't have much internet access while we were away, so I checked FB once or twice and that was about it. But we had a lovely time, very quiet, lots of family time and beer o'clock on the front deck of the holiday house overlooking the Endeavour River. Very pretty and balmy, were it not for the bloody mozzies.
Things have been fairly crazy since then too, with DH's 40th last night. We arrived home with 3 days to prepare for it! Anyway, we pulled it off and everyone had a good night I think. The girls are still crazy tired and no doubt that's the reason for P's meltdown tonight.
They had their needles on Friday morning and it was a nightmare! Natty got so worked up about it and so upset at the way it was done (as was I actually - we will not be going to the nurse anymore, only to my GP) that she threw up all over the floor. I was on my own with two hysterical kids... Not fun!
Phoebe's language has really come along while we've been away and she is now counting, from 6-10 only, LOL! But it's classic and she loves saying "EIGHT" - she has a real okka accent on her. Her tantrums are lasting much longer now, but I kind of find them endearing. Natalie turned 4 while we were away and over the last month or so she has matured a great deal. She asks loads of questions and loves to talk about emergency vehicles and "how things were a long, long time ago".

I am going to sit down on the lounge now with a cup of tea. No... Wine.

brief update. in the process of cleaning e's toys out from under the couch and dodgy arm went kaput. soooooooo much pain. stuck there, crying, couldnt move, c grumpy at mecos he couldn't hear the tears and thought i was slacking off - he had to move the couch to let me out! sick of it completely!!!!!!!!! now typing one handed... again...

went to GP. explained what was happening, including spotting. she says i need pao six months early. after ivf, i know my body, i know it's gonna hurt, but if it has to happen, fine. tewst done, THEN she takes BP and says it's too high - no *****!you''ve just ambushed me about a pap, it hurt like hell, wonder why my bp is up? anyway, she jumps on thew bp, says it;s too high, must be cos i'm fat (gee thanks), won't listen when i mention it was fine a week before in the midst of a migraine... mentioned meds so i lost it. asked if she had ever heard of whiter coat hypertension. acute stress related high bp, yada yada. dont think she liked it lol. told me during pap i still had an amount of blood, so now smear may be wrong and may need another, then followed with the suggestion i may have a UTI (i don't) and we should do a urine dipstick test. i wouldnt, she asked why, reminded her i was BLEEDING, the dip stick uses blood count to suggest positive for UTI so i'd be on ab's when not required

THEN, when i gave up on reasonable help for me, it was E's turn to get her needles. she didn't warn us she was ready to jab so we weren't holding e still - she jumped and pulled needle out so we had to do it again. poor bubba!

One sleep these days Amy - usually a 2-3 hr one anywhere from 11am-ish so I cant complain about sleep currently (although I think we'll always have an early riser!!). I've been reading 'Toddler Taming' that Mum's partner gave us for Christmas, its written by a pead (and father) - Christopher Green. Although I skipped through parts of it (eg self settling etc), I have found lots of it extremely useful. Rather than the name suggests, its more in me that I have made changes rather than 'taming' my child - eg in how I communicate with Bailey, what I react to / don't react to, the tone of voice I use (positive or firm depending on whats needed), and making sure I interact with him as much as possible so he is happy with the attention he is getting rather than seeking any kind of attention - eg he writes how basically toddlers just want your attention, they dont really care if its good or bad attention - as long as they get it. So I have found that its helping me massively with my tolerance level and because I am making positive changes and understanding what Bailey needs from me a bit more, its making Bailey happier which has the circle effect - Happy Kid, Happy Mummy, Happy Kid, Happy Mummy etc etc Can't believe its been so helpful. No doubt we'll have many future moments when we're both tired, over it etc, but I feel like a bit of a penny has dropped for me. I feel like I went from having this beautifully natured compliant toddler to a willful stubborn one in a matter of weeks, but now totally get how quickly he is growing and developing and how I need to grow my parenting skills along with him. This parenting gig is forever full of firsts!! So in a nutshell, bedtime/naptime has returned to a peaceful positive experience and we had the most wicked weekend with Bailz - I can see that Sean is really starting to enjoy Bailey more and more - not that he didn't before, but I think the toddler is more fun to the Dads than the babies are LOL. Currently Bailey is worshipping Sean, he copies absolutely EVERYTHING he does, puts on Daddy's necklace, his watch, his shoes, even his jocks the other day LOL! When he see's Sean at the end of the day he squeals with delight - Daddy is totally his hero - its adorable

BG - that Dr sounds like a PITA and very out of touch - was she even listening to you? Grrrrrrrrrr
