Hi girls,
How are we all? Well Mima has completely dropped her day sleeps now except for the occasional nap in the car. She has however decided to start falling asleep at about 6-6:30 and wakes up at 6-7. She has been asking to go to sleep recently with her 'nigh, nigh' sign, and when she is out she is pretty well out!. She has been doing it for about a month and has been slowly but surely been dropping her night waking down to just one or at a push two but only ever one after I go to sleep. It is amazing how much she has changed! We are having to have dinner ready by 5:30ish tho or else she is to tired. She has even had a couple of sleep thrus which have been true heaven. It is lovely tho that it comes at this point tho because I think I am going to need the extra sleep.... Yesterday I got a:bfp::leap::stickyvibesboy:
We are so excited! Can't wait. Really hoping and praying that this baby is sticky! DH thinks he is the greatest stud alive. That is 3 pregnancies for 4 months trying now. He doesn't count last month because it was the month after the M/C and so he thinks he is 3/3. I don't really care because I am just so happy.
As I was writing this I thought about how this might effect those of you who are struggling to conceive. I know hearing this might hurt, but I know your hearts are big enough to be happy for me even still and I thought it might insult you all more if I didn't share, for fear it would hurt you all for me to share my news.
I took my test to bed with me last night I was so happy... Love you all so much. My happiness is just so infectious right now I want to just hug and kiss you all!
Anyway I must away.
Lots of love my beautiful friends
XX Bella
Congrats Bella! Fantastic news!
As has been said before - never hold back your own excitement out of fear of how we might feel. Truth is, yeah, it hurts sometimes, BUT, it's not that i'm not overjoyed for you - it's about me. and yes, i'd be more saddened if you didn't share! We're all grown ups! we all have good days and we all have crappy days - sometimes seeing someone else having a good days is enough to drag us out of our shyte days (well, it is for me anyway) - sooooooooooo, don't feel you need to hide and protect us. Shout your joy from the rooftops babe - this is great news!
yeeeha go bella sticky sticky vibes for u xoxoxoxoxo
Congrats Bella - and sticky vibes too! Fantastic news.
Seen lots of comments about people wanting to press the pause button on our two/almost two year olds - and I have to admit that I don't feel this at all - and have never once thought my baby is growing up too quick. I suppose I am not really that keen on babies, toddlers, children yes but babies I find a bit boring. In fact I worry sometimes that I will want to just hand Stirling over to DH all the time so I can spend time with CJ as she is just so much more interesting. I mean I found her kind of interesting when she was little but that was because it was all new - I worry a bit that I will be wishing away Stirling's babyhood because I like the older phases (prob 18 months plus) more. When I imagine him, I imagine a 22 month old and find it hard to think of a baby. In the forum I see so many references about not wanting babies to grow up, maybe I should start a thread about my issue surely I can't be the only person who feels this way - am sure once he is here it will be fine.
Had a funny day here today - DD has a bit of a cold and has been very demanding and is always me she wants, we went to MCG for Hawks vs Geelong this arvo, and despite fact have membership couldn't get a seat in the area we normally sit and no one could tell us where we would get a seat, and the thought of going home had me almost in tears in the lift with the steward and then I did have a little cry when eventually found DH and DD who had managed to find seats all the way round other side of stadium. God knows what the people sat next to us thought. Feel slightly silly now that I was crying about not being able to watch the footy!
Fantastic news Bella! I'm so thrilled for you. I would love to have another bub, but if I can't have one then I'll live vicariously through other people's pregnancy news and pictures of their newborns ;) How cute is your DH thinking he's such a stud, hehe. Maybe let him know that you've managed to get 3/3 eggs, while he's managed to get 3 out of hundreds of millions of sperm, lol. Then tell him that seeings you're the one with such an amazing ratio that he should buy you something extra special, or at least give you one super special massage, hehe. I have no idea what gender you are hoping for (or even if you have a preference), but for some reason I could really imagine Jemima with a little sister ;)
Huge Congrats Bella!!!! Here's to a wonderfully happy and healthy pregnancy for you!
Hi everyone!
Same old here and I'm not with it enough to offer any advice, but I'm thinking of you all always.
Vic, I know what you mean sweetness. While a lot of the time I do wish I could press pause (on both the kids!), the rest of the time I am so excited about all the new things they do and how they are growing up. I bet that once Stirling is here you will love sitting with him in yours arms while you play games with CJ, because that's what I love. I get to snuggle my newbie while I play with such an interesting and amusing toddler. :)
Congrats Bella :)
Vic - My DH is the same as you, he LOVES the age Bailey is now, and I think he found early babyhood a little boring compared to toddlerdom. But me, ahhhh, I got teary the night before Bailz turned 2 as he really is growing up seemingly in the blink of an eye. I think though that my longing for another baby is perhaps what contributes to the majority of those feelings. Funnily enough though, a growing toddler is much easier than a newborn - much more independent, easier to read and work out what they want (especially as they can tell you hahahahaha) and very self sufficient at times, so there is LOTS to love about this age.
Having said that, I would love a pause button sometimes, I've caught myself using that saying a number of times :)
Kyson started back at his swimming lessons yesterday. He's started in the 2 year old class and he's now in the warmish kids pool, and not in my favorite super warm hydropool, lol. He did rather well considering he's the youngest in the group, took a term off, and also the class is very different so he was doing all new things. He really is a little water baby :)
We took Shayla in the warm pool and she loved it. She was so super chill even when I lay her on her back with her ears in the water, and I even swam her under the water a couple of times and she was fine with that too! I just hope that there was no one in the pool who is lactose intolerant because I looked down at one point and realised I was leaking breastmilk, LOL!!!
Well tomorrow is THE DAY! My "little guy" turns two! I've already had a teary about it in the car last friday, so I'm sure I'll have another little cry tomorrow too. I think the reason I get upset is because all the growing up stuff is still to come and I still get to enjoy it, but this stage that he's at now is slipping away and I'll never get to enjoy that with him again. Does that make sense? For example, he calls Thomas "dit dit" (no idea why, lol) and at some stage he's going to stop calling him that and just call him Thomas, so that'll be another thing that he won't ever do again that I'll miss :( I really do love watching him grow though. He now walks around the house singing a little song that I made up. I sing it to him every night when he goes to bed, and Bobby adopted it as well. But it starts with "Mummy/Daddy loves you" and he walks around singing it and it's so precious!
i can so understand where you're at KL! I love where E is at now. I miss the baby stuff and knowing that she is never going to learn that basic stuff again (like rolling and crawling, and her first words) but now she surprises me every single day with something new (and usually unexpected). i think this is such an amazing stage developmentally. i'm looking forward to seeing where she goes from here, but at the same time, i'm sad that we'll lose this stage as well.
latest prize bits from E -
"happy beerfday granpuppy" for my dad
"happy easter bunny"
she has learnt that "peeeez" (please) gets her much more of what she wants, and the way her face lights up when she realises she has to say it is just too cute
after every meal, i wash her face, hands and hair with a cloth, roughing her up in the process. she loves it. now no one else can clean her up the same as mummy.
after dinner i usually clean her up, then stand her in the highchair and take her bib off (LOVE the plastic bib) singing "shake your bootie" while i brush her legs off. last night she started wiggling her little tushie going "bootie bootie" after i said it - so cute! she has been running around the house "bootie bootie" and shaking her bum ever since!
i love that she's still excited by it - she is enthusiastic to say please rather than being forced to do it!
Hi Girls,
So has anyone started potty training? I bought the "3day potty training guide ebook" today and we are going to see how it goes. We have put Mima down to sleep tonight with no nappy on...:o So I will see how that goes overnight. I don't want to wait till I am lots bigger with this pregnancy even tho I am feeling properly knackered most evenings and mornings. So I hope Mima doesn't wake up to often overnight cos I will have to take her to the potty overnight if she does wake up and that is going to wake her up all the more and probably make her harder to put back to sleep.
Anyway I will cross my fingers and see how we go.
xx Bella
Bailey sits on the potty while I get his bath ready each night, most nights he does a wee, the other night he helped me empty it (all over the floor :o ) hahahahaha. I'm not going to start properly until he is dryer overnight though, so most likely a few months. I am basically just getting him to understand what the potty is for. We have a sticker sheet for him to use when he wee's but he pretty much just claps as soon as he has wee'd so he has the right idea. He actually started it not me as we have always had the potty in the bathroom, he loves it, he always follows us to the loo so I think he just loves to copy. As for #2s, he tells us AFTER he's done one, not before, so we are not ready to commence properly. I really dont want to attempt it until I am reasonably confident of success for two reasons, to make it easier on Bailey, and frankly I dont want to have to clean up the mess hahahahahaha
I also have that ebook d/loaded, I really like the idea of just focusing on it over a 3 day period rather than going back and forth between nappies and potty, too confusing. I actually got that idea from the Gregarious Peach Toilet Training Blog Bella :)
Yeah me too naomi:). Gotta love Georgia. She said it was semi successful for them. Just rook a little longer than the three days
Did the 3 day program with Lachie when he was about 30 months old. He was whizz trained within 4 hours! AMAZED! It took 2 weeks to get the #2's sorted, but that was fine. I didn't follow it to a T.
Allira loves sitting on the toilet. I'm sure she's only months away from being totally ready but I'll just wait until the day she's totally ready to do it.
I highly recommend once you start you get rid of ALL nappies. Do not use them as back up... It seems to confuse kids and draw the process out. Once we took Lachie's last nappy off, he never ever touched one again. It was VERY easy ( probably a couple of nights wetting the bed, but that was very short lived) and we will follow a similar routine with Allira.
Good luck with it ! :)
HI everyone. Hobbling around on crutches still with this stupid knee thing. Not sure when my MRI will be.... noone's in any hurry down here. LOL
Krystie I hope Kyson's party was a wonderful day! I'm so sorry we missed it :(
Hey girls. Sorry I've been offline lately. I am trying to keep up with you all on FB at least.
Hope you preggo ones are keeping well and feeling great.
Love to hear about babies using beautiful manners :) Phoebe doesn't say please, but I do get excited when she says thank you.
I hope all our May kiddos have wonderful birthdays. Sorry if I don't manage to wish everyone a personal happy birthday. It's hard getting on here every day.
Bella, we haven't started TT yet. P used to be happy to sit on the toilet before her bath but then she started to complain about it so I've decided to leave it alone for a while. We might start once the weather warms up towards the end of the year. But GL - let us know how she gets on.
I don't know if it is because she has been quite sick lately (ear infections and a cough that just. won't. go. away.) but Phoebe has been SUCH a tantrum queen. She has a couple a day at least and she squeals as she throws herself backwards. It can be about as little as our putting her shoes on for her (when she had intended to do it herself). Then there's no pleasing her until she's finished the tanty. It is getting a bit tiresome but I guess we're all managing with it.
She's been awake practically all night the last 2 nights and I'm trashed. She is crying in her semi-sleep and only sleeping deeply when I am holding her. Poor bubba - I think her ear/s may be infected again.
Our new place is so fricking cold! I can't get over it. The last couple of nights have been so frosty. Our power bill is going to hit the roof, I bet.
Other than the sickness & increase in tantrums we are really enjoying the girls atm. They are playing together quite well and we are so proud of the way Nat speaks to Phoebe. There was a time when all I wanted was for them to get along and it looks like that time is finally arriving. They get on each others' nerves at times but mostly they are very sweet together. It makes life so much easier when you don't have to adjudicate constantly! Phoebe also copies Nat like crazy. Natty makes up little songs in the car and after a few minutes they are in chorus, LOL. It's so funny and DH and I often laugh out loud at the pair of them.
I think P is awake so I'd better dash. Love you all. xx
 Amy xoxoxoxoxo
I can't stand my family well the blended part of it or rather I don't like having a kids birthday with them it's so frustrating but am excited for the little mans birthday
Hope Jamie's party went well, J. Families can be difficult. I hope it was a really happy day. xx
J, thanks for having us at Jamie's party! Kyson was loving the slide you have, lol!
Thats cool we had an awesome day altho jamie got feral towards 5ish till he went to bed at 7 coz of no nap in the afternoon
Hey again. We had a rough weekend! Phoebe has pneumonia and had to be admitted to the kids hospital on Monday. We stayed overnight and were discharged yesterday. We're both so tired!
I don't know if it's cause she is sick, but is anyone else having extreme tantrums? Like, she screams her head off and even bangs it against the ground. I don't remember Natty being quite that... fervent.
Sorry to hear P has been sick - I was about to come in here and ask after read about hospital trip on facebook - very scary. CJ tantrums are not so fervent but they are for her if you see what I mean so I think could be part two year old thing - but I know she was worse when she had an ear infection.
Aimes - big hugs for you and P, glad you are home again
Our tantrums are declining, however our cheekiness and selective deafness are increasing!!!
jamie has just started climbing out of the cot :o
and being a pain to put to bed its seriously doin my head in its getting to a stage of me putting him in bed and closing the door and listening to him scream for 5 mins then having to pick him up when he falls asleep on the floor any other ideas and he wont go to sleep with us which would be easier coz then i would get him a single bed and lay with him
J - whats your bedtime routine? If you aren't already, try to implement a bath, book, bedtime routine, seriously it works a treat and then Jamie will know whats coming
Perhaps he's ready for a bed? If he's climbing out of the cot (as well as the danger if he falls) he might just be anti cot now - maybe even try the cot mattress on the floor, and make the bed an exciting place to be - some nice kids sheets and a special pillow or something perhaps?
Glad to know she is not highly unusual then.
Vic, it was very scary. She was dehydrated and needed IV ABs. Poor baby had to have cannula inserted twice cause the first one failed :( I was bawling my eyes out having to hold her down while they stuck her. :( It was horrible.
Nay, LOL @ selective deafness! I get that with Natty a fair bit. And DH too, come to think of it... ;)
Jacinta, hugs babe. I know P's not ready for a bed yet as she'll just run around like a loony. But it must be tough when J has made the decision for you. Climbing out of the cot is a pretty strong indicator that it's got to go! Nay's suggestion of a mattress on the floor sounds like a real good one. I agree, make a big fuss about it, lie down with him and read a story together etc. If he keeps getting up you may need to just consistently put him back into his bed until he gets the idea. I have read stories where you can do this hundreds of times in a night! But all the stories say that the number of times you have to do it decreases dramatically within a couple of nights.
Hope it all works out for you, babe!
Oh dear. Kyson managed to spend $75 on my credit card last night.
Sounds impossible? Well I downloaded a book for him on the iPad. It was free, but I had to log in to the app store to get it. I assumed that when you leave the app store you are no longer logged in. Bad assumption! I also assumed that if Kyson was in a game and was trying to buy something in the game (even though he didn't know what he was doing) that it would ask for my password again. Another bad assumption! $75 dollars later we have 145,000 unwanted "coins" in a game he occasionally plays. I've contacted iTunes to see if they can refund...
Bwahahahahahahah Krystie - I hope Itunes give you your money back - that sucks - but clever Kyson!!
ooops but i think they will coz i have heard of someone else doing a similar thing
Jamie is better now i think it was just a little phase maybe over tired or something the mattress on the floor is looking good but not till we move yes we are moving again wont go into much details unless u wanna know just grab me on FB and i'll explain it long story short our house mates stuffed us around and are moving out 2moro we dont have the money to cover this place so we have to go somewhere cheaper i dont mind moving coz i was going to anyway i cant live with children who cant clean up after or look after themselves and i can watch them eat pizza anymore but more than a weeks notice would have been nice anyway not so short lol
Jamie loves his sister just earlier he was tickling her and putting the blanket on her and going nigh nighs lol
OMG Krystie! LOL! That's soooooo funny. Except so much money! Eeeeek! Hope they refund.
J, very cute re Jamie putting Jazzy to bed :) Sorry that you are having to move again. I hope it's quick and painless finding a new place and getting over there.
We went away with my family for a long weekend. Phoebe is getting sick again. While we were away she was getting temps and DH was fretting. I figured it was just a virus and she'll be over it soon but she is starting to get the cough back again :(
I am trying not to look too far ahead, trying to take things as they come but my SIL asked me on the weekend whether I would consider getting P tested for immune deficiency. SIL has now raised two immune deficient children and apparently the strain runs down my side of the family. One of my nieces grew out of it, the other is chronically ill and has monthly immunoglobulin infusions at 5 years old. She suggested that Phoebe is sick quite a lot and that my older niece began getting pneumonia at about 2 years old and was in and out of hospital for a couple of years.
It kind of freaked me out. I wonder what you guys would do if you were told something like that? Would you just let everything play out or would you want to give your LO a blood test so that you know what you're potentially up against? I must admit, I really am erring more towards sitting back, simply because the BT would be so traumatic for us. If she has to be admitted again I would ask them to check her Ig when they take bloods from the cannula at that stage.
But does that make me a bit irresponsible or a bit of a slacker not wanting to act on a potential threat to my kid? I honestly don't know what I'd do differently if it turns out she is immune deficient... I can't not work and therefore can't not send her to CC. We would have to move house again to somewhere cheaper and even then we would seriously struggle.
Probably am stressing out over nothing but I trust SIL, she has done this before and is also a nurse...
Sorry for going on. Look forward to hearing your thoughts though...?
Amy - I would rather know, as there is every chance she won't be and then you don't have to stress at all. So I would be going into it being optimistic that it would be nothing but doing it just to rule something out that could always be there stressing me out in back of my mind. I can understand the other side too, but naturally I tend to want to know as much as I can and am also an optimist so see it more as a rule it out. Not sure if that helps.
Amy, I'm also a believer in "better safe than sorry" and also that "knowledge is power". In your situation I'd want to know. Although I'd hate the idea of the blood test too. I guess whether I would have it done straight away would depend on whether there is anything that can be done if something is found? If nothing could be done at this stage, then it would make no difference if you waited to find out. My advice would be to make a dr appointment and discuss it with them. They could probably let you know what sort of odds she has of even having something like this, and that might help you make the decision.
I have a question for the Mummy's with girls. It's about a bit of a controversial topic (on BB anyway). Just wondering if any of the girls have had their ears pierced? I think E has hasn't she? I've been thinking about it for Shayla since I saw one of DH's cousin's baby girl with hers done. I hate the thought of the pain for her, but I also think that she's almost certainly going to want them done one day (I can't even think of one lady I know without pierced ears) so she'll experience the pain one day anyway. And if I have them done now I can pop her straight on the breast afterwards to try to cheer her up. I've been told if you get it done before about 6 months the baby is not able to play with the earrings while they are healing, and it's easier for the parents to keep them clean and healthy while they heal. Another concern is about positioning of the earring though. I've heard that sometimes as the ears grow the earrings can become uneven in the lobe. This happened to my sister and she ended up with one earring in the middle of the lobe, and the other much closer to the outside edge. When she was much older she took the earrings out and let the holes grow over and had them re-pierced. I'm not sure if its actually a common thing to happen, or whether her earrings were just originally not placed correctly. DH is happy to get them done if I want to, but doesn't want to come when she has them done. What are your thoughts?
Oh, and guess what? iTunes refunded my money!!! The guy that emailed me back was so lovely :)
Thanks for your thoughts girls. I am still unsure... I will probably chat to the GP about it. At this rate we may well be going to see her again during the week.
Great news about itunes, Krystie. I have found them to be helpful in the past too with getting a voucher activated.
Re the earrings, I don't want to offend anyone but I am not a fan. I don't get cross with others for choosing it for their kid but I wouldn't and haven't with my girls. Natty has asked me about them and I have said she can have them done when she's older. (Basically when she's old enough not to play around with them and to take responsibility for the decision herself.) She doesn't hassle me about it though because she remembers VERY clearly what it feels like to have needles and she asked me if it was similar. I said that it was - that they very quickly push an earring into your ear and it does hurt for a little while. On that basis she's quite happy to wait for now, LOL! Her best buddy has earrings which is why she asked me about it.
I personally see it as purely cosmetic and it's really not that important to me whether or not they have them and I can't see how it could be important to a little kid. And then when they are bigger (and btw, I know plenty of women who don't have earrings and tbh I've been tempted to remove mine in the past!) they can make the decision and own it for themselves. (I chose to pierce my ear at the top cartilage when I was 17 and I did it without my parents knowing. It was liberating and entirely my decision and I loved that earring - it totally represented my independence. It hurt like a biatch though! LOL. But the pain was great as it was my decision. Not that the girls would have to wait til they were 17, but you get my drift I hope.)
Understand though that that's just my perspective and what you choose for your kid is of course your decision and something I'd never criticise.
I would want to know too Amy. I think because DH and I are medical backgrounds we would do a bit of research. Aso getting a blood test isn't as bad as you may think. Having said that if you can wait till she is in hospital again it may give you more peace with your decision. It also would depend on whether you think with the info you have their could be any negative consequences from not finding out. Ie could she get really sick without treatment etc?
Krystie, I am not a big fan of the whole earrings on little girls thing myself. I think it looks tacky, but that is purely a personal bias and I have friends who have done it and it is just not discussed because you know what, it is nobodies business but yours. Now that I think of it I think it is because it was a little bit of a rite of passage for me and my sister as young women. You had to be grown up enough to be allowed to have your ears pierced and wear grown up things like earrings. I think that may be why I find it a little off putting, because I associate it with dressing little girls up to be too old. I don't know if that is a fair perception, but sitting here when I examine my thoughts on the subject I think that may be why. End of the day babe, it is completely up to you, and like Amy I would never criticise.
AFM- well and truly struggling with morning sickness. Not coping terribly well. DH is great for helping out but I could punch him sometimes cos he likes to remind me that he remembered how sick I was whereas I think I blocked it all out to a certain degree. Between the regular vomiting and the fatigue throw in the hormonal surges and I am a bit of a mess :( Never mind. It is what I wanted and I will just have to suck it up!
xx Bella
Bella, I'm sorry you're not feeling great. Hopefully this time it will ease off sooner for you.
Have thought about it a bit more I think the issue is that the BT is traumatic (and both my girls have had one in the last couple of months, Natty to check for dietary deficiencies and Phoebe upon her admission... the memories are clear as day in my mind as I consider it) and the reality is there's no real treatment as far as I know that would help her at this point. I think if she were a candidate for IVIg I would really know about it by now - she would be just so sick. And she's not. I guess I don't know if I really believe there's any immuno-deficiency in her that can't be explained by the fact that she's almost 2 and in regular childcare. So I think I'll stick with the wait-and-see approach for now. Not that you all haven't given me a great deal to think about. I am very keen to find out if she is, but the reality is that if she is, we will end up back in hospital soon enough and I will ask them then.
I have been missing a few of you on FB lately... Do you know if the puter defaults to that stupid setting by itself - the one where you can only see the updates by people you comment on most often? I am going to check as I've only seen pics from a few of you lately.
Amy - I totally hear you on not wanting to get the BT done. DH and I are OVER medical tests with Bailz - the poor kid has had more paediatrician, Dr, Specialist, xrays, scans appointments yadda yadda yadda than I ever would have expected, you get the idea. Every time it's traumatic and every time we all get upset. Last week we had Baileys last Physio appointment which is great, however as he'd grown out of his orthotics, he had to be fitted for new ones - which meant knee high plaster castings for both legs - he was totally beside himself and I cried with him. I think you'd be the best judge of P's health to have an instinct into the need for the test. Yes, you risk that you may miss something, but you also risk testing un-necessarily too, there is no right or wrong.
Krystie - I'm a bit old fashioned and if I had a girl I wouldn't be piercing her ears either. I think I had to wait until I was 13 or something when I was a kid. I do agree it looks pretty so I totally understand your temptation, however I am against anything that makes little girls grow up too quickly. A friend of mine has her daughter doing 'graceful girl' at age 3 which is a type of calisthenics program, and I see her post photos on FB with her all made up - hair, makeup, the works, it makes me worry and its a bit stomach churning. So basically I am totally against anything like that - I know there is a massive jump between ear piercing and 'toddlers and tiaras' but I guess its perhaps breaking into that area in my mind. God, I sound like a Nanna!! Sorry
ETA - I rarely wear earings now, if we are going out and I want to wear them, I practically have to re pierce my own ear sometimes LOL
Amy - i would find out if there is any detriment that can happen with a delayed diagnosis - if catching something early meant treatment could be started and reduce harm, then yes, i'd get the tests done. if it's only going to give you a diagnosis but no change to how it's managed, then i would probably wait. i tend to prefer to know what i'm up against, but if there was a chance it was "something" but finding out for sure would mean trauma to get the result, and no actual treatment, then i would probably assume all is ok but take the appropriate precautions as if it were diagnosed (kinda a harm minimisation thing - assume the best but act to prevent the eventualities if the outcome is the worst kwim?)
KL - yes, E does have her ears pierced. she has tiny little studs that we got done at 12 weeks. she was upset, but boob fixed all. she didn't touch them at all as she was too small. no infections or anything. i know it's a controversial topic, and words like tacky are thrown around, but ultimately, you have to decide what is right for you and yours. i wouldn't push anyone to do it, and wouldn't think any less of someone who chose not to. i, personally, don't see it as a right of passage because i've always had mine. i made the choice to add a second set, and the one up the top that Amy described.
Nay - you so sound like a Nana! i think we'll have to agree to disagree on the forcing of bubbas to grow up with ear piercing. i don't think E having her ears pierced has made her any more grown up than her female peers in here lol there are so many other ways that little girls are forced to grow up far too soon - clothing is far worse IMO - E has hand me down clothes from her cousins, and some of the size 8 clothes is the same body size as her size 2. now i know that girls tend to slim as they grow UP, but this is the same length in the body as well - cos most of the clothes out there are skin tight and midriff baring. i have far more issues with that kind of sexualisation of children than a little bit of bling. E's earings are just a bit of bling she doesn't take out (unlike the clips she loses in minutes - i'm sure our car is half full of mismatched clips)
