ok probably not the best question but how the heck do i get jazzy to want to sleep in her cot she sleeps without me plenty us will only sleep in the rocker which is too small or the couch snuggled in a pillow not safe so wat do i do just keep her in bed with me till i can no longer fully function it hurts my arm and my back most nights argh just a whingy day for me night peeps
Bel, I'm lucky that Kyson will play happily like that in his cot. He never used to, it's just a recent development. We used to have to rock him to sleep on one of us in his glider chair, then gently transfer him to his bed once he was asleep. We had to be super careful not to wake him because then he would just cry and we'd have to start all over again. He seemed to have a magical sleep change a month before Shayla was born where he started going down awake, being happy in his cot, and sleeping through the night. We didn't even do anything to make it happen, he just did it himself almost overnight. There IS hope, lol.
J, If you're not sure on your new avi, let me know and I'll make one up for you too and you can choose from them. I've been telling the couple of people I've done them for that there is absolutely no obligation for them to use what I make. Avi's are pretty personal so I'd hate for someone to use one of mine just out of obligation rather than having one they love :) As for getting Jazzy to sleep in her own cot, well that's a tough one. Kyson slept on me, or in the hugabub (still on me, lol) for his naps when he was little, and for the first 3-4 months he slept his nights in the crook of my arm. After that I started feeding him to sleep and sleeping with him in my arms until my back would start to hurt, then I would scoot him across into his cot while he was fast asleep. But our cot is "side car-ed" against our bed, so I literally was just sliding him across without having to move him around too much. Shayla is much different during her naps. She is happy to go down on the couch (ours is pretty flat and not terribly squishy) or on the bed/cot for hours at a time. The only problem is that she very much prefers to sleep on her tummy during her naps. A bit of a naughty no-no, but we've been allowing her to do it and just check her constantly. At night I tend to feed her and then put her in her cot either asleep or almost asleep and most of the time she'll nod off to sleep. When she wakes for a feed during the night I tend to dose off while I feed her so once she finishes feeding she stays along my side until I wake up and slide her back into her cot (which can be anywhere from minutes to hours). In the morning though she tends to be more restless and ends up staying in my arms, or sometimes laying on my tummy with me on my back, lol. I hope Jazzy makes things a little easier for you soon!

Feeling so flat tonight. Took Natty to the paed today. Have been waiting for this appt since January. Back then she'd had a height growth spurt and was a little under where her weight should have been. Today she was right on her usual line, normal as anything. I was pleased, even if feeling slightly fraudulent. Of course he made assumptions about Natalie's eating behaviour and generally made me feel like an idiot.
I am not an idiot.
I am fricking well educated on this subject! I have read tons of material and taken her to therapy sessions... I know what I'm doing.
Of course, DH drank it all up and was asking me if we're going to implement the things he was saying... I felt like screaming, "I ALREADY AM! WTF ARE YOU DOING THEN?!?!?"
I'm just feeling a bit lonely in all this and today was a bit of a blow to my confidence. To think he was sitting there smugly thinking that I allow my child to rule the roost and just choose whatever she wants to eat and when. It made me very cross.
Anyway, he recommended Nat have a blood test as she is very pale and he suspects iron deficiency (unsurprising - I would expect the same) and he said we need to check the levels so that we know with what and how to supplement her diet.
Sorry, I know this isn't really relevant here - Phoebe's not my problem atm, I'm just so depressed and feeling quite alone. I just wanted to share it with you guys as we've all got crap in our lives and can relate to feeling lonely in that at times. Thanks for letting me get it out there.
Oh Amy - massive hugs, and this IS the right place to post, we are all here to support you!!
I understand about wanting to smack paeds in the head :) I know from the many posts that you make Natty's eating/nutrition something you have put a HUGE effort into finding the right solution so I just want you to remember that - you know it yourself so don't let some idiot that see's your child for 30 mins every 6 months make you think that you know less than him - YOU know your child best and YOU know all the things you have tried, research you have done and help you have sought. Clearly he is the idiot not you!
I wish I could come and give you a hug - I'm so sorry he's made you feel this way. Go and made a cup of tea, give Natty a big hug, tell her how much you love her and what a lucky girl she is to have a Mum as wonderful as you, and then send him silent insults in your head about his saggy bum and bad personality (humour might help here hehehehe)

Amy, I agree with everything that Nay has said! Oh, except I would also laugh about his prematurely balding head, whether or not it was actually balding or not ;) You're doing a wonderful job with both the girls and you should be proud of yourself sweetness ♥
And before I forget, we had an awesome time on Saturday, glad you all finally got to meet Sean too, thankyou so much for a wonderful day - and for driving great distances to see us.

Amy - Please don't feel you can't share about Natty in here, I think having second time mums share their experiences in this thread makes it even more valuable.
In fact I think really we have been going long enough that most stuff is ok for this thread, and if it isn't am sure one of us will politely suggest a new thread is started :-), would be awful if worry about posting relevant stuff put any of us posting full stop.
Had a lovely time at the picnic - and thanks for all the pics I have stolen from you all. DH said that he didn't realize it was a BBQ with the paparazzi, and was a bit tired of sucking in his belly in case he was photographed by the end of it :-). You can never take too many photos in my book though.
J - CJ was like that at about 3 months, would sleep elsewhere in the day but not in her cot (was fine at night though). I just went with it for a while, and if I was feeling good would try her in the cot and would sometimes work, and sometimes not, I also made a little thing out of AFL men (from chips packets) for her to look at which seemed to help, and a suggestion from a book that I tried was I had a phil and teds cocoon thing, which she loved to sleep in so would let her go to sleep in that and then put that inside the cot - no idea if any of it worked in particular just the times she would refuse her cot got less and less. Our flat is pretty noisy, so I also put on white noise in her room as she seemed to not like the quiet - e.g. would sleep in the cocoon thing in middle of lounge floor where is noisiest for ages.

i have a small cocoon bassinet thingy i might try that i think she just likes being snuggled near her head jamie was so easy this is a whole new world

*sigh* If it weren't for you awesome girls, I would probably leave BB. It just seems to be one thing after another lately. First mods getting kicked off (not that it's any of my business, but the atmosphere of the forum was not pleasant when it happened), threads that I totally avoid because they just get nasty, the cliques, and now we have to remove the images from our tickers! I love looking at the pics of people kids in their tickers. I find it gives uniqueness to people in the forum in a sea of words, especially for those people that aren't members and don't have avi's. Oh, and apparently avi's might have to change soon too! I understand that some people might get upset by seeing small babies in tickers if they have recently had a loss etc, but can't there just be a setting to stop signatures showing up for the individual (if there isn't already...). *sigh again* I just get frustrated!

Tonight we took Kyson and Shayla to a thai restaurant with some family and friends. Shayla was an angel. She was in the hugabub and didn't make a peep even though she was awake the whole time. Kyson was an angel too, but at one point he grabbed a little bit of a chilli, so DH quickly grabbed it off him. But then he went to put his hand near his face and I was scared he was going to rub chilli in his eye, so I grabbed his hand real quick and started to wipe it with a wet towel. He must have thought I was grabbing his hand because he did something naughty, because his lip dropped for a few seconds, then the waterworks and extrememyl loud crying started! Poor bub. I didn't mean to upset him, just wanted to protect his little eyes. Luckily the restaurant is small and we basically all filled the place and there was only one other couple there.
Lol, and he was such a cheeky monkey in the bath today. I put him in the bath and then I was holding Shayla in the bath too. He started splash a bit so I asked him to stop. He would stop but after a bit start again until I asked him to stop again. Then I got Shayla out and was kneeling on the floor to dry her and felt a huge splash all across my back and legs. I turned around and there's Kyson grinning at me! It was all I could do not to laugh at that grin, but I asked him calmly not to splash again or else I'll have to take him out of the bath. He stared at me until I turned around and then he splashed me again! The cheeky monkey was then removed from the bath and ran from the room giggling, lol!

I just saw the link to ticker guidelines that was updated today. Not happy about that to be honest. I don't want to take Mima out of my ticker. I also was watching closely with all of the talk when everyne was leaving and it disturbed me the heavy handed way that mods seemed to deal with things too. Not that I know all of the things that had gone on before hand that may have led to those infractions. but what I did watch didn't seem as bad as the attitudes I was seeing. I am always on the outskirts of BB. Only since I have been TTC have I been on every day. And part of that is cos I am doing the list on the TTC 1-6month thread. Anyway. Oh BTW I am %DPO atm. You may see a BFP in about 5-10 days if you decide to stalk the thread. I feel preg. but I am not sure if that is because I just want to be so much.
Love you all too. I really mostly only post on here because I love you all so much and you all inspire me and keep it real so well that you bring me reality in a sub culture that can so often go extreme in one direction or other. So love love all my beautiful Mummas. I am so glad you are all so different and all so supportive of each other. You really are all a witness to what real women can do to support each other even when we all come from completely different spaces and places and do it well.

Krystie: PMSL @ Kyson! What a little cutie. P has a real cheeky streak sometimes too. DH was putting her to bed the other night and she was jumping up and down and cackling away. DH said, "Lie down please Phoebe" and she lay down, then 2 seconds later she starts cackling and jumping again - it was a brilliant game for her! DH couldn't keep a straight face and ended up leaving her to it.
Re the chilli event, we get those misunderstandings here too. If I try to right P's cup so her drink doesn't spill on the floor she thinks I am taking it off her and has a massive tanty! Is hard when they look so sad though, poor little guy. But nothing compared to how sad he would've been with chilli in his eyes!
Bella: Fingers crossed for a BFP for you, babe.
Phoebe and I are sick atm, coughing etc. I'm taking her to the drs later to check her ears and throat as she seems to be getting crankier rather than better. Was worried about how Nat would go with me sending her to kindy but not sending P. She was fine about it though when I mentioned that I was taking P to the drs. LOL, after her latest Dr excursions (and blood test) she jumped at the chance to be excused from that activity!
N's BT was all normal which is great. We just need to keep plugging away as we have been.
hope Phoebe gets better soon Amy. Jemima has a nasty cold too. She sounds kinda croupy at time. I worry it will hit her chest but the fevers are gone at least and it isn't slowing her down although she is pretty grumpy. Poor little sausage! So many of my gf's kids are in the same boat. Not good..

I hope P goes ok at the doctors. We had one of the DSS here coughing again recently and I was so worried that the rest of us would catch it. I was quarantining everyone as best as possible. DSS was confined to his room most of the time, which is not as bad as it sounds because he probably would have been in there almost as much anyway with his computer, xbox and Ipod, lol! Whenever her came out I would keep the babies away, and when he left I glen20'd everywhere he had been. Paranoid much?! Hehe. No one else got sick though!

I'm also generally out of the loop on the inner going-on's of the forum, but even still you can feel the vibe can't you? :( That's why I love our little corner so much. Isn't it amazing that a group of woman that used to be total strangers can become such a close-knit, supportive group of woman. You ladies are a very important part of my village. Although in my village we don't live in tents or huts, we reside in castles and palaces ;)

P's ears are infected so we are on ABs. She was sooooooo unhappy going to bed last night I had my suspicions. But then she slept all night (first night out of 5) so I just wasn't sure.
Is anyone going away over easter? We are going to stay a night with some friends on Sunday night (out 'rural') and I hope hope hope it goes well. They have 3 kids, all close together & similar in age to ours so hopefully they play together nicely.
I go through phases of being a relaxed parent and being anxious. Does anyone find this? Or are you all well and truly settled in to parenting? I mean I know different ages bring different challenges but I really am interested to know if my anxious feelings are normal, even with things you've done before like going on holiday or getting them minded by someone...

Oh hell yes!! and that's to the relaxed/anxious thing - not the loony bit!! My feelings swing from one to the other depending on what we're dealing with at the time. Thankfully E has been mostly ok lately, so i have chilled a bit - but i find it comes in waves - as she hits a new developmental milestone (and the associated experimenting she does) i get really worried about everything. climbing has caused me no end of stress!!! and whacking her head on concrete pot the other day didn't help either! lol:
I have just come back from GP appointment. have referral for xrays on my wrist to see if it has become arthritic. referral for full blood screening to try and work out why the heck i am soooooooooo tired alll the time. had a pelvic scan last week after 3.5 weeks of AF. nothing significant. roll on 4.45 tomorrow - i'm on the down hill to physical meltdown from physical and emotional exhaustion at the moment. 6 days off, work 1, 4 days off. i neeeeeed to rest up i think. head hurts constantly. i had to have an ecg today as the pain in my arm is in my left arm, damage to my back is on the left side, and tachychardia has gotten worse lately. i think the tachy is due to being anxious about things in general, and possibly being run down - but thankfully the GP took my concerns seriously and did the ECG. it's been really nasty bad pain wise today and i needed reassurance it was only muscular.
feeling like a really ordinary friend at the moment (both in here and away from here) - i'm really struggling to offer the support i know i want to give. i want to be able to be here for everyone, but i have read the last 24hours of posts three times today and i just can't process enough for persies! it's horrible. i feel so scattered
Hugs BG - I'm sure that the others echo my sentiments when I say that you are a great friend :) Good friendships ebb and flow depending on whats going on in everyones lives, good friendships will be sustained regardless of the amount of persies, sometimes we each need to take time for ourselves, so don't stress, we love ya! x
God Amy - Totally agree re going through the different spectrum of relaxed and anxious parenting - sometimes this can change in a matter of moments! I'm not totally sure what is the driver but sometimes I worry about my skills as a mother (especially those moments where I am tired, short tempered and over it) but also sometimes I wonder if I take the time to remember to teach Bailey things, to nuture the growth of his intellect, and worry that I just forget to sit down and play, and similarly to BG when a big developmental leap occurs, most commonly when its something I haven't come across before I wonder if I even know what the hell I am doing sometimes - eg with responding to new behaviours etc. Other times I just take it all in my stride and nothing fazes me - all part of the parenting roller coaster I guess! Funnily enough I had a bit of a anxious moment Monday arvo when I was driving Bailey and I home after work/childcare, he'd had a few visits to the Toddler room at care as part of his transition out of the Baby room at the end of this week and the carers told me he got quite upset during one of the visits. It totally gutted me and made me question myself about why on earth I have him in care, what am I doing, what if he gets tramautised by something that happens at care, yadda yadda yadda. You are most certainly NOT loony (otherwise I am too!!)
Krystie - I better change my ticker. I get what you mean re the community, I'm sick of all the whinging though - really sick of it. Most of it I don't even understand. Although I'd never post this in the main forum for fear of offending, I must admit seeing angel babies in tickers upsets me. Frankly I'd rather poke my head in the sand than be reminded of other peoples sadness, totally selfish I know :( Then I feel bad as I have my healthy baby in my own ticker, its a tough one. I try to post in other areas of the forums where possible, but our thread is my BB 'home' base, you guys are the reason I am here :)
Bella - hope your intuition is right and your BFP comes your way, be sure to post in here, I'll forget to stalk you in the TTC threads. I want to be pregnant, I am ready, I desperately want another baby, I have another one in me and I want Bailey to have a brother or a sister. Whether or not it happens is another thing altogether, we'll see what the next 12 months brings. DH isn't on the same page as me atm, he keeps getting cold feet. I want him to want it as much as me, not just go along with it to keep me happy. I am trying NOT to force the issue, but its hard, my emotions are taking over. **sigh**

Nay, just quickly because Shayla is squirming on the couch, lol. In regards to your DH possibly not wanting another baby as much as you... don't stress too much honey. Men often don't feel that overwhelming desire to have another child. My DH definitely wasn't as keen to have another baby as I was, yet he didn't complain at all when we were going through IVF, and he absolutely adores Shayla. I'm sure it would be the same with your DH, that even if he isn't as sure about another baby right now, he will be over the moon once that little bundle is tucked in his arms ♥
i think i'm the only one with a really clucky other half. he always puts it back on me ("dont' YOU want another one?") but he is fanging for another i think lol

Amy - sorry to hear you got made to feel so horrible about Natty's eating. Boy do I know what you are going through! I'm so Glad that I don't have the same problem with Allira, because Lachie is struggle enough! If you ever want to chat, drop me a line. I'm on and off most days.
Bella - fingers crossed for that BFP!! I know I could really feel my 2nd pregnancy alot more than I could my first. I knew before I tested. I'm hoping that you get a big BFP.
The vibe around here... well I've been here 4 years. See my low post count? See my non platinum membership? I think that speaks LOADS about how this place can be. I must admit, there are some sections (like this one) that I find are so amazingly helpful that I would be lost without. I guess things change as the membership of a place changes. With so many active members it's hard to guage what everyone is really thinking and feeling.
I'd like to think that the wonderful people like yourselves have been the big pull to keep me here this long. I've made some lifelong friends here and I'll always have that positive to remember.
Kids are doing well. I can't believe we have nearly 2 year olds!! Gosh it's flown. Goes so much quicker second time around. Allira is far to smart for her own good and far to smart for my own good aswell. I worry about how I am going to cope raising her.
Lachie's doing well. Thriving at kinder. He's got to have a procedure in July called a laryngoscopy which is basically a camera shoved down his throat while he is under to check his vocal chords and his throat as he has a husky voice. They suspect nodules which they would scrape off, but that might be during another procedure altogether. I'm a bit scared about my baby boy having to be put under though and I'm not looking forward to seeing it, but I need to be there when it happens. It's 2 days before his 4th birthday too.. poor bugger! Looks like I'll be guiltily spoiling him something shocking because of the timing. Can't be helped though.
Other than that, things are ok. I've had my own issues to deal with and am working with those. I'm still playing netball and really enjoying it and doing my strength training, but I've slackened off with the personal training which I'll need to get right back into again. I've got lots of weight to lose before my sister's wedding in Jan!

Krystie - Well since my post the other night we had a big chat last night about TTC #2. The outcome was good (for both of us), we have ditched the mini pill and although we agreed not to become obsessed with DTD obsessively at the right time, DH conceded that if I seduced him he couldn't be held responsible for not resisting HAHAHAHAHA. So I guess we are TTC or perhaps like Vic and Ryan we are NTNTGP (Not trying not to get pregnant). DH doesn't want it to consume us like it did last time (which I totally respect) and we chatted that as we are not on the same page with wanting another baby atm, we realise that there really isn't a compromise (eg you cant half have a baby) so this is a good place for us to be. Anyway, although its a step forward, its probably in vain as the odds of us conceiving naturally aren't great, but they are not impossible! So I guess our next step is moving from this to then looking at IVF again later in the year, this will be another big hurdle for DH to jump. We cant afford it until after June anyway so there is no point getting my knickers in a twist about it atm. Everyone pray for a frigin miracle!!!!! :pray:

If either of you decide to go through IVF again I have a whole box of unopened (use by 08/2012) progesterone gels (the individually wrapped ones) here that you girls left with me that you can have back. This forum has rules about giving away meds, so it's lucky that these are your meds that I am just looking after for you yeah? ;)

Thanks Guys, we had a great day, Loved the cake, now I just have to hope that the load of washing I currently have in the machine comes out clean (my pants, top, and Bailey clothes all ended up with LOTS of bright red icing on them hahahahahaha). The stain remover got a smashing tonight!!
