something i learnt when i had gastro, that was reinforced by another dr to a friend in hospital with it last week, is that the gastro bug can still be contagious for upto a week after symptoms have disappeared. That's why it is so readily spread as people think once they have stopped the symptoms they are fine. I was told to stay home for a week and not go to OB's office so as not to give it to any other patients. This friend was told 2 weeks!
