MD, I will take the challenge of the boring-ist assignment ever. The one I just handed in was horrible. It was basically to re-do someone elses experiment making improvements. There was no format given and I couldn't figure out a good way to organise it so it is just a steaming heap of random crap! In the end I handed it in just to hand something in. I am hoping I can make up marks in the next assignment which is more statistics/maths based. I was nerdy enough in my school years to go to school at 8am to attend extra calculus classes, I am hoping it is time for a payback lol

William got up in front of the class today for show and tell! So cute! He has been wanting to show something for ages and he had a photo printed out from when he went hunting on friday and it was in one of the holders that BIL mounts tourist pics in at the glacier, so he talked about hunting (didn't get one but heard them roar) and then about his uncle driving helicopters.

Arte: i dont envy you doing the solo mum thing. i hated and despised it when DH had to commute to wollongong. it was the pits. oh and i so hear you about the ILs and car space thing. i had the EXACT same thing happen to me during our "wonderful" wedding trip when DHs ILs came to visit for 3 frikkin weeks. "oh clare, we want to go to st kilda and have a swim, there's no room for you and L so we'll see you in a few hours"....oh boy i was MAD!

sherie: the little terds!!! omg, those mice would be in sooo much trouble with me right now lol! i am so glad that we dont have mice...but we do have some very fat and tenacious rats...so gross when the cat gets one of those...they scream....so hard to listen to.

AFM: well, we got some news that shocked us to our core today. Our friends son (the mum was also my midwife) got hit by a car here on Sydney Rd (for out of towners, it's a busy strip shopping style road...so not fast traffic, but lots of it ITMS). he is ok, very battered but poor dad witnessed it and saw his 5 year old get thrown in the air and land 10 meters away on his face...yep, on the face. by some miracle nothing is broken, but wow, traumatising. the woman who was driving ran a red light (they were crossing at the lights and had the green man).
so tomorrow we are over there to dish out some much needed cuddles. the poor dad is very traumatised (as i can only imagine, sheesh!).

Trill: there were mice here b4 i moved in. I put the green bait's down & got rid of them. I left the bait down though which was a good thing - being that Springfield Lakes is still being developed etc we still get the odd few. They don't last long hehe

I get to see a close GF in the morning. She spend 5 years TTC & she is due to pop on April 29. Woot woot.

Cass – that is just awful. I am glad your friends DS is OK. And I hope her hubby has done some debriefing and talking it all through. Are they charging the woman who ran the red light (I am guessing she is totally traumatized too, as much as it is her fault that is prob one of the most awful things that could happen). When I was 12 a friend and I were walking and he got hit by a speeding car and landed on his head (was knocked out). It was awful and the image stayed with me for a very long time (I can still picture it now if I think about it). You are a lovely friend and I am sure your support will really help them with it all.
Ginger – glad your SIL had a chat and confided in you. Given she shared her name choice with you I don’t think she was trying to exclude you – perhaps it is more how she views what the big choices are… I had a friend like that who didn’t actually think choosing an OB was an emotional decision or that it made much diff – she viewed it like when you would get a referral from a GP to a dermatologist or any other specialist. But telling me the names she had chosen for her twins was majorly important to her (I am their godmother – she is my best friend). It’s all about your mindset and how you view this whole process. Anyway, the great news is she is sharing with you – and I just feel that you will grow closer through all of this.
My skin is still bad but I think it is improving… incredibly itchy and v bruised and battered.. and still new patches coming… it is all over me. But at least it isn’t as ‘raw’ as it was a week ago. I am so tired though as it is really interrupting my sleep.
I have the contract for my new role – so will be resigning today or tomorrow.

Cass, I understand 100% what your friends are going through. The only thing that saved my sanity when L was hit by a car was that I didn't see it so I never had that visual in my mind, but imagining what it would have been like for him was horrific enough I hope he is OK and heals quickly both physically and emotionally.

Andie, we use the sachets of poison paste because it makes no mess - they just spread the pellets around otherwise and it's hard to know if they are eating them.

Arte, how was your night last night?

Well after catching two yesterday, last night I saw FOUR of the little ****ers - one in the loungeroom and 3 in the kitchen. Two of the ones in the kitchen looked like they were either fighting or ****ing LOL - I'm hoping it was fighting because the last thing we need is for them to breed inside. But they have also started nesting inside the stove and they have been pulling out the insulation in the sides of the stove. One even ran out of there as I was vacumming all the insulation out. I'm so ****ed off about that. So it is Operation Kill Mice today and we're doing everything we can to deter them. I put a small dish of bleach where they are getting up in the stove and I'm hoping the smell of it deters them and we've taken the front off the stove down the bottom so it's more open - that might not make a difference but with the bottom part on there it is all enclosed. DH said they are that bad out at his work that they just sit at their feet now all around you - he said its nothing to have 6 or more of them at your feet while you are working. They gave up trying to kill them out there because the stench of dead mice was far worse than the stench of live ones.

far out trill! i can't get over the mouse epidemic! we actually saw 3 of them when we were in echuca last weekend (one was in L's hat that he left in the boat). we thought there might be lots of them around from the floods or something?

oh cass your poor friends. so glad the little boy is ok. it's so scarey to think of all the accidents that can happen to kids and it's not the parents' fault at all.

andie - great news about your friend being pg

mp- excellent news on the job. i hope your current work takes you quitting well, i'm sure they'll be sad to see you go

took L to the dr this morning about his tonsills and they are reffering him to an ENT. i really want them taken out but i don't think it's going to be easy to get it done.

Had scan this morn. Heartbeat is 108 measuring 6wk 2day. My dates make me 6wk 6day.

Trill- yeah the bad thing bout the blocks i use is when they gnaw it leaves a mess but i can handle that cos it shows they are eating it. I too hate the dead mouse smell

So glad I've never had to deal with mice, I could not be as resilient as you Trill, I think I would be moving back to Mum and Dad's and telling DH I'd be back when they were gone. We have a latex mattress, they can be a bit warmer in summer time which could be an issue where you are.

DH and I are going in the Mothers Day Classic 10km run. We went and did sprint interval training this morning, so sore legs now. I actually got the giggles on the first one, I can't remember how long it is since I have sprinted and it just felt really funny!

MP - great news on the job, hope you enjoy the new challenges.

Cass - wow, how scary would that be!

Yeah, still naps here (today's was in her sleeping bag from 18 months ago, looked pretty cute). If she doesn't have naps, she has about 45 minutes quiet time in her room, playing, reading etc.

Ginger - how long until L can get in to the specialist? Glad that things are looking up with SIL.

Arte - good luck with the sleep until DH comes back. Glad that W's night's are improving, after our good run at the beginning of the year we have been back to night wakeups (usually just one) for the last month. Still nothing compared to you though. Bit jealous of your new friend, I could do with one of them.

he was private...i think we paid $1500. but by that stage it was really life or not for me IYKWIM, so had to be done. the public hossy was really unwilling to pay for it

Cass, I can't believe that public health wouldn't pay after you were rocking up half dead to the ER! Surely it is cheaper to chop out some tonsils than to life support someone!

Cally, I hope you get a new friend. My advice is to find someone that has just moved to town and get in before they can set up with other friends lol. It is actually working quite nicely, our DH's met at her DS's birthday party and they have become hunting buddies. I think that I used to do the sort of testing that you would use for sewerage plants. I mainly did cations and heavy metals testing, but I did a fair bit of BOD's, total solids etc.

Last night went o.k. Man, I don't know how single mothers do it! I am hanging out for a nap when DH gets back! Doesn't help that I stayed up too late tonight watching Glee lol

Arte - ah yeah, BOD, TSS, exciting stuff! We just do the metal testing at teh end in the stabilised sludge to check if it is suitable for reuse on farmland or if if has to go to landfill. My main problem with the whole new friend thing is the working full time means I don't get any chance to really meet new people via playgroup, preschool or anything like that. I have the Glee DVD, but haven't got around to wwatching it yet.

Is the Laid DVD worth getting anyone? I missed the first few episodes and then it was too difficult to catch up on.

We went out last night to someone that DH works with. DD was so good, she really has a thing for men once she settles in somewhere, she was following the husband around, making him pictures, giving him tissues..... Anyway, 9pm bedtimes do not mean sleep ins - she climbed in with me at 5:45 and told me to get up at 6. But on the plus side, we got to put a sticker on the staying in bed all night chart.

Cass - wow, can't believe you had to go private, do they ever pull them out through public?

Last day at home today, then heading up to Canberra tomorrow for some shopping. Need a complete new winter wardrobe - better check the credit card before we go!

yes of course it is...my friend is one of the writers (her and marieke wrote it). hahaha, but i guess i am biased lol!

Arte: i know right? i was so devastated when i got that letter in the mail telling me that my case wasnt urgent enough to warrant the public system doing it. it arrived 5 days after i was discharged after the resus incident not serious my bottom! thankfully John, the private ENT took one look and was action stations. he even told me that he would support me if I decided to complain about my treatment at the public

Cally: i think the issue with the public is that they have a policy that doesnt support adult tonsillectomies. and unfortunately they stick to it come hell or high water IYKWIM...even if presented with a case like mine because they can write it off by saying that what was causing organ failure wasnt the tonsilitis directly but rather the blood septacemia (that was caused by the infection in the tonsils entering the blood stream...and so the wheel turns lol).

aww man, now i want pineapple lumps!

in fact, i would just like food. full stop. we have NO kitchen. no sink, stove, nothing! driving me insane that to make a sandwich i have to go the lounge room to fetch a plate and a knife, then climb over shelving et al to get to the fridge and use the couch as a 'table'. can't wait til the new kitchen is in....
