thanks girls. DH also had a murmur when he was younger... it is just the breathlessness and blue thing that got me worried... Ange did you have to have ECG for Lu? does she still need check ups?
Thanks Arte re the job int too - i just need a new challenge, will see if this is the right thing for me (and if they want me lol). there was aniother opp a while back, but they couldnt afford me LOL! (at the end of last yr i decided i needed to make this yr more about me - hence job change and 12 week body transformation). its still in melb!

Yep we had an echo and ECG. Both normal so no need for further monitoring unless something changes. I was worried as Lu often had blue lips too, turns out it was just super cold at Kinglake! ;) I understand your worry though. Have you got paed app? It can take a while....

MP, Erin was born with a small VSD (hole) in her heart which caused a heart murmur. But it was gone by 12 months. We were supposed to take her for an ECG at 6mths as it was still there, but we said to the paed, is the guy doing the ECG going to do anything different to what you would do here in your rooms with a stethoscope in terms of telling us whether she still has it, and he said no, so we just went back to him at 12 months and it was fine. She had zero signs that it was affecting her though. I even have one as well and it wasn't picked up till I was pg with P! But they are so common MP, they really are. But if you feel that there are other indicators, then I would be getting it checked as well if for no other reason than peace of mind. I hope they boys are both well soon too :hug: And fingers crossed for the next interview too!
Cass, I hope it passes quickly for L, she's had such a bad run it must be taking a toll on her. WHOA at 4 mths though! I get antsy when it takes 3wks for a mark to come back LOL, but I guess we're talking 10's of thousands of words here so it's not something they would get through terribly quickly.
MD I was wondering where you'd gotten to :) You seem as engaged in your study as I am atm LOL.
Netball training last night hurt BAD! I nearly even had a biggest loser moment and felt like vomiting :lol: The first half hour was OK - gentle warm up and then a quick game where I somehow managed to hold my own against A and B grade players, but the 1hour of fitness part was the killer. We had to do sprints up and back the length of the court x 3, then we had to walk it while passing a ball between our legs x 3, then run it again BACKWARDS x 3, then 30 step-ups of a 50cm step and then 30 squats before doing a 5 minute continuous run. I thought I was going to die by the end of the runs and then the steps turned my legs to jelly LOL. But I never gave up and kept going, even if I wasn't running by the end of it ;) I am so glad I invested in a fantastic sports bra though or these puppies would have been bouncing all over the place.

girls as you know, one of the main reasons we got KitKat was to be a mouser/ratter as we live in a damp environment and used to have a bush rat problem. this also keeps snakes away as they are not tempted to come near the house to eat rodents...there is a rat epidemic up here, but we have hardly noticed any this year- mainly due to KitKat's excellent hunting skills. she actually killed a rat on monday and dh was super proud :)...but......today she killed a beautiful king parrot. i am pretty upset by it. how do we get her to distinguish though? i don't know what to do :(

G, I know that can be a big problem with cats and how they can kill the native animals. I have no idea how to teach KitKat to tell the difference though? I hope you can find out how to do it though.

Arte - Big hugs for you. I wont comment as I am not in here enough to know what you are going through with W. The sleep problems sound like hard work though, and I can imagine its wearing you down big time now. I hope you can sort it soon.

Trill - Glad you had a good time at netball, I miss netball heaps. Man wish I had the 'problem' of having to wear two sports bras hehehe!

MP: oh dear! i hope that he is all clear, i agree though best to get it checked out. and hey! goodluck for the job interview! i hope that you get it. you have worked so hard this last year and we dont want you to fade away; work stress is the worst i reckon.
G: it's a hard one and one that ultimately is fairly unsovlable. the only thing i can offer is to not go spazzo at the cat when they bring it to you. try to keep calm, this way they are more inclined to give it to you alive (and then you can release it back or take it to the vets...it's free to go with wildlife and they take it from there).

MP, DD1 had a murmur (from a leaky heart valve). They basically monitored it after doing an echo & ECG, and told us most kids grow out of them. Reminds me I need to take DD1 back to get her checked again. Good luck with the new job opp!!!
Trill, I was laughing so hard reading your netball description on the bus I did the full-on snort! Shiart I think I need full body compression skins...had to do the fat-lady wobble for the bus yesterday...felt very graceful NOT!
Cass, no workshop was an area of personal interest, I missed it for the last 2 years so it was good to finally go along. Of course you will be a Dr Cass, I'm gonna open a bottle of champers for you when the announcement happens!!! BTW my gastro trick is to give activated charcoal, it helps slow down the poo and also binds toxins/pathogens in the gut and seems to help with a quicker recovery. I buy the capsules, pop them open and mix them in honey (call it "black honey" LOL). it really works.
Ginger, our puss has always had a minimum of 2 bells on her collar (they can walk silently with one) and we keep her in overnight (that's when they do their main hunting). I always wondered how well it worked until she got out one night without her collar on and I found a dead bird first thing next morning. So maybe try the bells. When we were in the NT she still got lizards with the bells on, just not birds so maybe Kitkat will still be able to get the rats with the bells on too. If, not, you could keep her inside (or in the shed or wherever she is hunting) at nighttime without the collar and put it on again before she goes outside.

Cass, last year one of my lecturers got her Doctorate and we were so happy for her. We had a virtual party on Second Life for her to celebrate LOL. We even had virtual champers. How is L today?

i did a wobble run with all my clothes falling everywhere and scarves getting caught between my legs this afternoon in a mad dash through the rain....oh the horror, especially in front of all the uber fashionable first year uni of melb students and their skinny jeans and designer lenses lol.
Leila is feeling great now :dance: i am so relieved! i think Marta is running a small temp ATM though, so am keeping a close eye on her JIC. i also feel a bit under the weather but am hoping it is just the sheer exhaustion and nothing more sinister brewing.

Ginger - 2 bells is most definitely better than 1. Gosh I don't think I would sound so calm about dead bodies down the road.
Well we had a lovely weekend in Canberra. DH did some shopping and I hit Target for K's new winter wardrobe - which Mum then had to take all the pants in around the waist because they were falling down as she ran down the hall. Might just get her to make a heap of tracksuit pants next year, it's too hard trying to find something that has length but fits around the waist.
Took K to see the fireworks - she was very impressed.
My sister went all out for niece's birthday. Everything was so coordinated, I really don't know how she does it.
As for work - grrrr. I've been in tears in the boss' office twice this week. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen today. I'm just finding it so frustrating with some of the people I am dealing with - I just have to remember that it's not me stuffing everything up. Am looking forward to it all being over in 3 weeks or so.

Trill, that netball workout sounds like a killer! I had sore legs from my walk/run/wobble down the road the other day when A was stuck in the car - was only 5 minutes each way lol
Study this semester is not going well. I was going to pull out of a paper, but was two days late to get the refund so I guess I will keep chugging along. I have a 20% assignment due on Monday, was supposed to have the weekend to do it but DH has to cover at work and the power will be off all day Sunday so not sure how that will work now.
We had the kindy trike-a-thon on Wednesday night which was good fun. Kids take their bikes into kindy in the morning and decorate them, and then come back at 5 for the trike-a-thon and BBQ. Good fundraiser idea for anyone involved in kindy - kids are sponsored for the riding part and the BBQ at dinner time does well. They also had police cars there taking kids for a ride.

i have decided to leave KitKat as she is for the moment as we don't want to ruin her ratting mojo but if she kills another bird she will be getting 2 bells on her so she better look out!
i had an absolutely lovely day at my 'new friend's' house yesterday. didn't end up leaving till 3pm! turns out we have a lot in common and as her 3yo is her second child, she is really happy for him to have his own friend of a similar age iykwim? because most of her friends with kids have children of the older siblings age and the 3yo gets left out a little, so he and L get on like an absolute house on fire and were playing power rangers and superheroes all day LOL
we have the foxtel man coming today sometime between 7am and 12pm- great!!! so looks like i'm stuck home all morning. plus side is that we are getting a new 1q2 box with hd for free. woo hoo!

AFM: well Leila is def on the mend. she is still a bit woozy in that she doesnt/cant really stomach any fruits or rich foods but is back on track with no vomiting and runs (hallelujah!). thankfully so far no one else has it! although i have been feeling off, i think i will dodge the bullet and Marta i reckon is fine as i was really careful not to get them too close lol (it was tricky doing that without a certain 3 year old noticing :redface:).

Cally :hug: that must be awful dealing with that at work. I hope it is all sorted out soon for you. We saw the fireworks too - which side of the lake were you on? Naturally we were right where the big white dome was LOL for the concert, but I haven't seen fireworks like that since I was a kid so it was great fun.
G, well that sounds like the start of a fabulous friendship for both of you! I hope KitKat doesn't bring home anymore pressies for you either.
Arte, that would have been a great fundraiser to go to. Our preschool has their family fun night on tonight - which is a disco, jumping castle and BBQ dinner but we're not going - the weather is really dodgy and cold and I think A is coming down with P's cold she had last weekend.
So yeah, I think A might be getting a cold. Last night he woke up at 11 and was super hot but he refuses to take medicine for anything so we just layed on the couch together till he went back to sleep. He slept fine after that though but he was a little wrung out looking today although he wasn't hot. He seemed happy enough to go to preschool today though and they haven't called me so I guess that he is OK still.
Speaking of cats, for a while now we have had 3 resident feral cats that live up in our hayshed, which aside from them ****ing on everything and making it smell, we've not seen a single snake around the house this summer and we don't have a mouse problem like everyone else. So they seem to be earning their keep. HOWEVER last night we discovered that one of them has had friggen kittens and has taken to living under the house! we saw one of them last night and she had a kitten with her. But the kitten only has 3 legs, so not sure what happened there? Anyway here's me thinking that maybe we'd get lucky and all 3 of them were males LOL but I guess not. If they start getting out of control we'll have to get rid of them though.

just a quick q from me- L is complaining about having a sore leg. he has not hurt it and i can't see anything on the leg. i have given him some nurofen. is it possible he has a cramp or a growing pain? idk? should i still send him to kinder this arvo?
