Tilda, thanks for the kind words...I know I'll get through this - so will you! DH not worried about contraception! ha! I would get scared too! My body is not ready at all for the second and I am hoping to wait at least a year to a year and a half before discussing it. Also, having such a colicky child is making me reconsider how many I want to have. I am sure once she is out of this phase I will forget it and say give me three like I wanted, but right now, two is looking like enough lol...we'll see...
Alison, you are lucky she is such a good girl Eva is a good girl in public but at night, whoaaaaaaaaa! Glad the shots went well
Hello to everyone else!
I went yesterday and man it was awful - I let DH handle her while she got *****ed. I wanted to cry seeing her in so much pain but it was over fast and she nodded back off into sleep. We spoke to the doctor who reassured us that her checkup was perfect and that her colic would pass.
She is weighing in at 5.25 kilos, height is 57.5cm - she has grown so much from that little shrimp we left the hospital with!
DH hurt his shoulder and went to the osteopath to be examined and the guy said that many colicky babies come to the osteopath to be realigned...so we have an appt today or tomorrow - he has to confirm and hope it will help her settle a bit.
As far as the sleeping patterns (Tilda and Willow) he said many babies are like that and that those babies usually sleep better at night so there is apositive side to the naps all day. It is harder to get stuff done but it is true that eva sleeps at night and only wakes up for feeds....
Anyway girls, I'll try to be back on tomorrow to let you all know how her appt at the osteopath went!
Hi all,
Alison Glad Dh's friend turned out to not be so bad. But I can't believe she expected all the running around to be done especially as u have a new born. I have the Bebe baby ace and love it. You can steer one handed. I think it's about 11kgs. However because you fold it up (whilst in bassinett mode) in 2seperate parts it is very light. One thing I really researched was the pram and I am glad I did as I am really happy with it.
It seems as though most of us are having a rough time with all the bubs not wanting to sleep during the day.
Yesterday Jett had 2 catnaps of about 20mins each between 6am and 12noon. I went to lunch with the girls from antenatal classe and he only slept about 40mins while we were out and then between 3pm and 9.30pm he had little 10min catnaps and would then be screaming. I had tried everything feeding bath nappy change play time but nothing worked. I finally settled him with a bottle of formula and he slept for 6hrs. I am awake and feeding now. He also just did a massive poo. I think that could have been his problem as it had been 5 days since he had done one. Which is how he has been since birth he only poos every few days and everyone keeps saying that is ok.
Well sorry for a selfish post.
Hope everyone is managing with bubs everyone tells me it gets easier n you forget these first few months.
Feed has finished so hopefully a burp n back to bed.
Good Morning Baby Buddies..
I am currently writing this whilst Lila (my 22 month old) is at my chair begging me to lift her up so she can look at movies of her on the computer. It's a real juggle at the moment with her as she is getting quite jelous when I do anything other than play with her...Especially in the mornings when I am feeding Sienna. It is all good though, Sienna has become such a good sleeper. (I am very sceptical to say that....!). Brussels, Lila was an absolute nightmare as a baby. She had the worst colic and was a very chucky baby and wanted feeds every 2 hours. Like you say though, you do kind of forget to the point that you can do it all again.....we are glad we have as Sienna is a totally different baby and Lila is a beautiful little girl.
We have also bought a safe and sound support pillow that Sienna sleeps with, it's basically two long round pillows joined together with material that you can adjust with velcro and you can place baby on their side to sleep and they won't fall on to their front, I find that when Sienna has bad tummy pain it relieves her as she doesn't have the same pressure she does when lying on her back. If that fails we put her in the rocker for sleeps and she gets rocked to sleep.
Everyone seams to be getting out and doing lots of things, which is great. I went for a great walk the other day for about an hour and a half with the two girls. Sienna slept most of the time and Lila fell asleep just before I got home, It's funny as I really procrastinated about going as I just thought of all the worst things that could happen...ie: crying baby all the way and a toddler who just bucks to get out of the pram, but they were both so good. So in future I am just going to do things and not preempt them. I might just be surprised
Alison, I have got a Phil and Ted's pram. It has been fantastic and now we can use it with both kiddies. When Lila got a little older so she could sit up, we bought a quinny zapp and I am using that at the moment with sienna in the baby bjorn when I do a quick shop. I liked the Phil and Teds as I can take it on long walks too.
Ops got to go...I hear a baby crying and I think it's morning tea!
Alison - I have the Acclaim as well and was having problems with the steering as well until DH pointed out that I needed to have the brakes on on the back wheels. Now it steers like a dream. My SIL has the Strider and isn't too happy with it - same issues as you're having mostly with weight. Actually, I don't know too many people who actually like their prams! That said, I'm pretty happy with my Acclaim But I also don't use it too often - I'm far more likely to use a sling.
Liam's been pretty unsettled the last few days. Yesterday in particular he wouldn't nap, and got majorly overtired and cranky. He's been cranky again this morning, so I might be in for another day like yesterday. He just wants to "talk" all the time instead of sleeping - he finds the world and people too fascinating for his own good! It's really quite cute, though - he's discovering new sounds every day. Yesterday he was having fun trying to make a "g" sound and just kept on gurgling. So cute.
BS Sorry you've gone back to the crying again, hopefully it's a short phase and passes soon!
Hannah Glad you're feeling better! Sounds like your day is a bit out of whack starting in the afternoon like that hopefully she'll get her body clock sorted soon.
Tilda So you could be riding the belly buddies thread again soon How exciting! ...When you're ready of course... killed the re emerging libido I can understand that at this point!
The floor toy frame thing in the photos was actually a hand me down from sister and a friend of hers gave it to her, so I'm not sure where they bought it from?? I always had one for DS1&2 when they were babies and would have bought it from like BigW.
Good luck with the self settling I tried it with DS1 and it didn't work very well I was too soft and couldn't keep it up LOL ...he does self settle now though, he'd want to at 18 LOL
Sorry to anyone I missed I actually wrote this post last night and forgot to click submit so I'll have to check any new posts after I post this one
Alison We just bought a cheapie pram it was on sale in Toys R Us I can't even remember what brand it is, maybe Bruin, I'm not too wrapped with it, it steers fine though I must say I was very happy with that, it is heavy and awkward to get into the boot, that said my car is tiny and it takes up the whole boot so there's a certain angle you need to get it in at so that doesn't help. We figured it was our last, so didn't want to spend too much as it wasn't going to get used for any more bubbas.
Rose So cute when they get social and learn new sounds and start to find their hands Hope Liam's been more settled for you, although seeing as you haven't been on since maybe not?
Kanda Sounds like you've got your hands full, but you're handling it well, glad the walk went ok means you'll be more confident to get out more now, I've even been hesitant to go too far with Harry as when he wants to eat, HE WANTS TO EAT! and makes it well heard lol, but the trips are usually less painful than I imagine before hand.
BS Like Kanda said, all babies are different DS1 was pretty much a nightmare when it came to sleeping and he was "coliky" too, whereas DS2 was like a perfect baby, he ate then slept (self settled from birth) 3hrly feeds and slept through the night fairly early too so don't be too scared of another, and you do forget the first few hard months pretty quickly when they pass.
Well I took your advice on a swing to see if it helps with soothing/settling/amusing Harry. We ordered it on line and it arrived this afternoon, Harry's had a little go in it already and seems to like it. It has a mirror on the middle part of the mobile and when we put him in and he saw himself he had the biggest smile and talk to his reflection very cute.
We're back after a whole month away at our on-site caravan and I missed you all soooooo much! I can't wait to read the thread so I can find out how you are all doing. When I've finished I'll post again with some persies.
Hey Suz! Welcome back! I was just asking about you!
Willow, I saw the pics of Harry in the swing - you'll see it is a lifesaver - and the mirror thing is great - Eva LOVES to look at herself that vain little princess
Lani, I am glad Jetts shots went well...
Kanda, way to go getting out and about. I am sorry Lila is being so difficult but I think once Sienna is older and Lila can play with her all of that will pass, then you will have to deal with them having their little secrets Thanks for telling me how diff the two were, I hope my next will be a calmy.
Sesame, I saw some pics up - finally what a cutie pie - he looks so much like you!
Hello to everyone else!!!
A quick update with some intersting things I learned at the osteopath yesterday - turns out that Eva does not have colic but rather reflux! So he explained how it all functioned and showed us how to burp her more efficiently which has been working (not to mention bringing up MASSIVE burps) and he said to NEVER put her on her back after eating or to sleep, which i never did anyway always on her side (Kanda, I lean her on a maternity pillow so kind of the same principal as what you do with sienna)...
He also mentioned that her head shape is of a dominant personlaity (no way? big surprise there - DH cracked up and goes, that's your baby!) - it is funny he mentioned two head shapes, one which is sort of bulging on top with narrow sides (like a mowhawk sort of) and on that is wider at the face and more narrow in the back (like a pear) and he said that research shows that ion the far past people with the mowhawk head shape were usually warriors and the pear were usually farmers...and that babies with the pear shape tend to be calmer, quieter, they can self entertain and stay relaxed wheras the mowhawk shape (hello Eva) are generally fidgety and very alert and need constant attention and supervision and have very strong personalities...I thought that was funny.
Anyway, turns out Eva has acid reflux and we have been trying some of his burp techniques which seem to be helping a bit...it has only been two days so I'll keep you guys posted.
She has been really great today, took a long nap in her room in her bed (she still sleeps in our room in her little travel bed...)...and is now self settlin gin her playpen in front of my desk so I hope that gives another nap. (which by the ned of this post it did - she is snoring away!)
I went to the physio yesterday who gave me the whole you should never do hard ab muscle exercise again...and I was not having it. I almost cried. I have never had a flat stomach so have always been religious about the ab exercises...She said I would have a 6 pack then pee on myself. I think she is exagerating. I will wait three months then take it easy but there is no way I am never doing strong ab exercises ever again....The appt there went horribly...of all the 7 babies, Eva started crying first for food then I had to do the whole burping system which takes forever so I ended up paying for a lesson that was 15 mmintues instead of an hour
Then I went to have lunch with a friend who had a baby three weeks after me and looks amazing already - flat tummy and huge boobs...We got to talking and she told me she had suffered from a bit of the baby blues and I told her I feel like that too...Her issues were about going out and being free to enjoy time with her husband (their relationship is suffering bad) and mine was more the weight and feeling like I can't get time for sleep or beauty or my husband. Her baby si much easier to handle though and sleeps a lot and well, so she says things are getting easier, plus she is bringing in formula feeds and is stopping her breastfeeding gradually, which should make her life easier. She kept saying how great it was to stop and how free she felt going out and feeding from a bottle (she hated feeding in public because she is really big in the chest and men would stare)...so whatever, we had a big talk and I got a few things off my chest then I came home and moped all night. I had some friends over for dinner so that was nice and I asked DH to take Eva and only bring her for food, which he did and I really nejoyed the 2 hours off. I needed it badly.
Afterwards she had a really difficult feed and was impossible to settle...she ended up sleeping again on my knees with the hot water bag for her belly. I fell asleep completely seated and DH ended up putting us both to bed. I just feel like a dishrag and had a cry about it. People tell me I look tired, I can't wear any of my nice clothes, I feel fat and DTD makes me sore...I know it is almost the end of the difficult period...I know I'll be fine, but I just need to get it out.
I started back with my trainer and am basically at zero, which makes me feel awful so on top of all the exhaustion, my muscles hurt from getting back into exercise. This will pass. This will pass...I keep telling myself.
Ok, so sorry for the negativity. I'll stop now.
Anyway girls, hope everyone is doing well and if I forgot anyone, I am thinking of you anyway!
DH and I have our first night alone since Eva was born tonight! We were living with the ILs then had guests non stop....so we are planning on holing up at home and getting stuff done around the apt...I am sure DH will try to get all romantic on me so I am sure DTD is in there as well It is getting better every time, so I am keeping at it. I seem to be keeping at everything lately and not enjoying much of anything except my baby laughing - so I'll try to post some pics of the finished nursery as well next week. We should get everythin gis order this WE.
Hi Suz - welcome back, we missed you! Did you have a lovely holiday/break?
Hi BS - you sound like me, very hard on yourself. You look great and like everyone is saying to me we've just had babies so we need to be less strict on ourselves, we'll get back to our pre pregnancy weight eventually, some just lose it faster than others - lucky them huh! I'm glad you've found out what's wrong with Eva and learnt some proper ways of burping, would be interested to know good ways of doing that, Amelia doesn't suffer from it as far as I'm aware but she's not much of a burper either so maybe I'm just doing it wrong? The head shape thing is very interesting too, Amelia's is more elongated at the back but not wide at the front, wonder what that means ha ha.
AFM - Amelia slept 8 hours last night although it's the one night I chose to stay up till after 11.00 pm so I didn't get 8 hours myself LOL - I'm really happy though, hope this is the beginning of longer nights although I really can't complain, Amelia sleeps on average 6 hours anyway at the moment and she's a good baby really. Of course as soon as you say these things it turns to s**t so I could be saying something different tomorrow! I think the mums and bubs swimming class yesterday tired her out. It was really good, we did half an hour with the bubs in the water and she loves the water....they sang nursery rhymes etc (have to brush up on those!) and then you put them in their prams and we got back in and did some proper exercise, she just slept the rest of the time! The only bummer is that you can't book ahead and the next 2 weeks are full so I can't get in again for 3 weeks, ridiculous!
Am off visiting a friend today, she's been travelling so hasn't seen Amelia since hospital when she was 2 days old! DH was down at our holiday house finishing off more stuff last night so I had my first night alone with Amelia (other than in the hospital). Look forward to him coming home today.
Hope everyone and their beautiful bubbas are well. xx
Hi BS You're doing the right thing telling yourself it will pass and it will get better, it really will!!
I took your advice and got Harry a swing, thank you, so far so good he seems to like it and this morning he slept in it for an hour and a half and I actually got some things done I fed him just before then when he fell asleep on the boob I put him in the swing again, he had a look around, looked at the mobile and mirror for a while and has gone to sleep!!!! It's been about 1/2hr and he went to sleep on his own. Do you have the same or similar swing? It's very cute ors is a Fisher Price my little lamb papasan cradle & swing. I hope they're ok for their posture, did you ask your osteo? I might mention it to my chiro make sure I don't have him in it too much if it can be bad for their spine or head, god I hope not I love it!
Hi Alison Well sooo jealous of Amelia's sleeps!!! That is really strange not being able to book ahead for the aqua, doesn't make it easy to get into a routine for the fitness part. If they're that popular they should run an extra class. Hope you have a good time with your friend, she'll notice a huge change in Amelia!
Well I'm off to do some more things while Harry's happily snoozing in his swing!!
I've been writing this post on and off for what seems forever. So sorry if there's a few mood swings within! And sorry if I miss anyone or get confused!
Welcome back Suz!! It must have been great to have a whole month away with the newly expanded family. Look forward to hearing more about it.
Willow - I don't think I'll be surfing belly buddies for awhile if I have anything to do with it I'll have to have a look around for a frame like yours. I don't want to spend $100 on one of those play mat gym things. Have totally chickened out on the self-settling thing where you walk out of the room and let them "protest". Have "settled" on a bit of a compromise approach instead. Decided its too much to expect an 8 week old baby to go cold turkey.
Alison - I haven't tried the pram you're looking at. I got an ultra light weight one made by Combi (4.7kg) but its not great for long walks. You could look on productreview.com.au and see what people say. I find it a really good site for advice.
Rose - I hear you!!! I have been living with an overtired cranky baby this week. Its hard to resist the smiles though. But I've found they can lull you into a false sense of security when they're over tired because they can turn in an instant. Matilda went from smiling to squealing the house down in a moment the other day.
Kanda - Its fantastic that you scored a great second baby. Must make it much easier with a toddler. I read a good tip while searching for advice on my "issues" - keeping a bag of special toys that comes out at feed time. But maybe that's a bit like indian giving????
BS - Good on your DH for giving you a bit of time off with your friend. And vent away on the bad days. I think it helps to feel like there are people out there listening. Its fantastic that the osteopath was so helpful. I had a friend who's osteopath figured out that their baby who absolutely never slept and cried non-stop had issue with the plates of the skull being jammed or something from the birth. It was life changing once fixed.
Hannah - great that you're feeling better about things. I guess some babies take a bit longer to figure out the night and day thing but I'm sure it will happen.
AFM - it really has been a full on week. I can't remember when I posted properly last. Matilda has had another couple of hysterical episodes when all she's done is cat napped on top of me and snacked all day. I ummed and ahhh'd over whether to start "self settling" but I can't bring myself to do it. But then we had an amazing day yesterday. We decided to do a day trip down south of hobart hunting for berries and good food in general. And Matilda got decent sleeps all through the day in the car and fed properly in between. It was so lovely to be out as a family (until she did an explosive poo at a swish water side restaurant which went all down her back and my front!!! And it never occurred to me to pack spare clothing for me). Anyway, I've basically come to the conclusion that I can't let her snack and I've got to put her down in her cot to settle with help from me patting and singing). I think that theory of they need to go to sleep where they're going to wake up really applies to Matilda. And OMG when we got home it worked!!! Its been a bit sketchy today. I've been pretty disciplined about continually waking her until she's had a decent feed and trying to settle her in the cot as much as possible. But it does drive me spare a bit. Oh god, there she is. Only lasted 20 minutes! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I think I'm going to have a hysterical baby tonight. Do you think I should persevere with this strategy??? Gotta go.
Ha! Willow, I told you! Since I got that swing I get some stuff done and she loves it! The osteo said leaving her in her car seat for over three hours is bad but otherwise swings etc are fine, just not all day obviously. He explained that babies have rounded spines and so the are more comfortable in a cradle hammock position but just not to leave them in there for hours on end since they also have to learn to develop their muscles. I think an hour here and there is no problem. I also have a fisher price but mine is Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing - it has a light up mobile thing and is really great - the one you got looks so much more comfy though - it has that big cushy seat But seriously Eva LOVES it - as soon as she is in it she starts smiling, even before I start the music. And when we try to settle her down for a long time and her belly hurts she calms down in there with the swinging motion...I don't know how our grandparents did it without all this technology!
Tilda, the osteo also mentioned that it is very important to avoid snacking (you know I have one of those too - less now but still sometimes in the miorning) - he explained that their systems are always full of food therefor overworked and they always feel hungry - he explained that at the age Eva is at (I know Matilda is a bit younger) she should have 3.5-4 hours between each feed! I am going at 2-2.5! I dream iof four hour breaks! Thats exercise and grocery shopping and preparing dinner while she stays with a sitter! So he explained this burp technique and I found that Eva has been finishing two ful breasts now! Ok, so this is how it goes (for alison as well) - you feed her and once you see the baby sort of fidgeting (I am not sure if you guys have that issue but Eva gets very fidgety because the reflux bothers her) to pick her up the hold her on your forearm and SLOWLY lean her back until she is horizontal the back up, the do the same to the right side (your right, her left since it releases the air from the tummy air pocket) - you can repeat this three times (just the side thing - you only go backwards once....so back, side and back up, side and back up, side and back up. The up on the shoulder which puts pressure on the belly, for a burp. I have been getting some massive burps like this and find that she feels better and goes back to eating with desire, so I have been having two breasts drained at every sitting the past few days...you should try that and let me know how it goes. He explained that the problem with not getting a good burp is that the belly is full of air, so they think they are full, then they either go to sleep and are woken up by hunger or gas from previously digested air, which is what happened with Eva - she would squirm in her sleep until she woke up! Then the gas you deal with later is awful...and of course be sure she drains at least one breast completely because the hindmilk is very very important for her to sleep. Let me know how it goes
As for self settling - been two days in a row I put Eva doan (but this only works on her belly) in bed and she dozes off alone. Yesterday I got two three hour sleeps! Today she fell asleep in the same way as yesterday in her own room so let's see if this works I think you should keep on with the self settling but Eva also does not settle down the first shot, what might be good to do is to try to put her down and if she is really fidgety to pick her up burp her (this is usually the culprit in eva's case) or rock her or change her or settle her in your arms (but not until she falls asleep) then put her down but hang out in the room. Sometimes she needs to cry in order to get to sleep, so I just stay near by to be the dummy pusher when it falls out and she settles n her own most of the time now. Again, this worked for me, not sure if it will work, but worth a try - and give it time - it does not always work the first time! I have been really insisting on self settling because she is almost at three months and I really want to try to get her into some kind of rythm and into her own room...so I hope one day she'll sleep and if she wakes up at 6, hang out looking at her mobile for an hour to let me sleep! (we can dream right? )
Does she take a dummy? One more thing the osteo said (he examined her palate shape etc..) is that a dummy is indeispensable...that it releases the pressue in the head from the birth, produces saliva which in evas case is important for reflux, works all the muscles in the head and that the most impoartant this is that it is a huge pleasure for them and settles them in a way nothing else except for food can! I changed dummy 3 times and he told me to try to buy what is called a cherry dummy, which is just a simple ball shape. He said that by the shape of her palate he can tell it would probably be more comfortable for her and that she would like it more...so DH went out to get one today for a try. Willow, you might want to try that shape for Harry...I could not live without my swing and dummy. Seriously the two most important things for a fussy baby
Alison, maybe if you get a few other mums together you guys can request an extra class? I mean if they will earn more money for it, they should try to program another one...I should look into that here, But it is so damn cold! We have a pool in our complex so I cabn't wait until summer when I can start her swim lessons (FIL and BIL are serious swimmers and former lifeguards, so they are looking forward to taking her for a dip!) - So cool to have a builder DH, I am sure the house looks amazing - I am sure that is his way of "crying" - I am going to look online about the head shape thing and if I find something interesting, I'll post it - fascinating, isn't it all that stuff?
AFM, last night another baby sleeping on the knees on a hot water bag night. My back is killing me since I fell asleep seated again and DH fell asleep too after walking around with her for an hour. so I woke up at 2 am to put her to bed and get some sleep. We had another snowstrom last night so my trainer canceled my class (I am happy since everything hurts so today will be an eliptical machine day)...She seems to be doing better and fell asleep on her own in her bed again - I am getting her used to it in order to lmake the big move to her room easier.
Anyway, I really need to go get some stuff done and try to cook a bit so I have stuff to eat easily (I make soups and stuff to warm up easily in case I have a bad day )
Ps - you guys are going to have to put up with my awful spelling for a bit - I type so ffast and one a French keyboard so make mistakes and don't have time to go back and correct, but I am not illiterate! Sorryyyyyyy for torturing you all with the spelling!
Hi BS. I will definitely give that style of burping a go. I think it is gas some of the time. Because she does that squirming thing. Just want to make sure I understand what you meant. So, do you put them belly down on your forearm first and lower them down to horizontal and then turn them on to their side and do the same thing? And I'm starting to think we might have to try a dummy. I was trying to avoid any type of aids that I might have to go and replace intermittently but tonight she was obviously wanting to suck something. I thought she was hungry because she kept trying to nose dive for my boob. But she'd get upset when I tried to feed her. So I realised she was looking for something to suck. Well I'd better try and get some sleep. 4.30 in the morning and just put her back to bed.
This will be a quick post as I am feeding Jett.
Sounds as though everyone is going well.
Suz I am jealous of your month away.
Tilda- I hope a dummy works. I think I could open a shop that sells dummys as I think I have one of every single one available. Jett won't take one and likes to use me as a mummy dummy.
BS I hope Eva's reflux improves.
Willow glad to hear the swing is doing well.
Sorry to anyone who I missed.
AFM I can't believe it Jett just went 8hrs between feeds. What a Good boy!! I was shocked to see the time. I started Jett on infacol on Thursday night and since then he is a efferent baby.
Hope all are going well.
Must go n burp as he has just come off.
xoxo to all
It's taken me ages to read the whole thread and I'm bound to forget someone or something.
Here goes...
Firstly, to re-introduce myself. I'm another one of the 1-15 Dec Belly Buddies who had her baby in November. Ryan James was born 15:10 on 27/11/09, naturally with no drugs and a small vaginal tear, 52cm long, 3.8kg and 34cm head (lighter than his big brother but the same length). My labour started at 6pm the night before, but my contractions never really got going until my waters were broken and Ryan arrived 1 hour 10 minutes later. He's my VBAC baby who was determined to enter the world 12 days early, just like his big brother so they could both be born on the 27th. My 2 year old was born by emergency c-section due to undiagnosed breech position. My recovery has been much better this time around.
Hi to all my belly buddies and welcome to the newcomers! Thanks for the welcome to the new thread. It sounds like all the bubs are growing nicely and everyone is surviving the sleep deprived hormonal and emotional rollercoaster that is new motherhood
Lani - 8 hours? Whoo hoo! Hope Jett keeps it up for you and sounds like the Infacol is doing the trick. Don't be jealous of my month away, I spent the whole time chasing my toddler, am exhausted and have come home for a holiday!
Tilda - My DH is keen to go again too, but we haven't managed to DTD yet. I'm like you, not keen to start surfing the Belly Buddies again just yet... Good luck with the dummies. Hope Matilda settles for you.
Brussels - I feel for you with Eva having reflux! My best friend's DD had it and she had an awful time. Congratulations on moving back into your apartment! Good luck with the self settling, it's not for everyone. I thought I had the knack of it with DS1 Craig, but found myself rocking him to sleep at 12 months! I'll have to dig up my sleep notes, but I think anything goes with settling in the first 3 months so don't worry too much. I'm sure DH thinks you're beautiful and isn't running off with some hussy Isn't it funny how our brains work? My DH has been avoiding DTD because he's put on a lot of weight, not because I'm still carrying baby fat. We took Craig to an Osteopath and it helped with BF. That's awesome about your elliptical trainer. You inspired me to hop on the Wii Fit yesterday. I want to run again like you and Carmey, but I think I'll work my way up to it.
Willow - The swing sounds like it's doing the trick. When things get easier with Harry do you want to meet up? With 2 little ones I just go out and will BF anywhere if I have to, otherwise I'd never leave the house! We went to the Hyperdome on Friday to meet one of my workmates with her 1 month old daughter, but spent nearly the entire time in the parents room as her little girl was feeding 1-2 hourly. But it was still good to get out.
Alison - How's the supply going? That's great that she's sleeping. Swimming classes are fun, I kept forgetting the nursery rhymes too, don't worry you're not the only one Amelia sounds like a tall girl. Vent away girl, that's what we're here for! I'm sure your DH didn't realise he was being insensitive to you by helping the UK visitor out, but I understand how it made you feel. Did you find a new pram? I have a 3 wheeler Swallow Beema (it was ranked no 1 by Choice) from DS1, but it has no option for a toddler seat. In hindsight I should have gotten the Phil and Ted's but can't face forking out that much cash for another pram now. I've been putting Ryan in the Baby Bjorn and Craig in the pram. Hope you find another one that you like.
Kanda - Glad to hear you're surviving with 2! Thanks for posting your birth story and I hope you have healed at least a little bit physically and emotionally. I'm finding the baby is a breeze but the toddler is hard work! That's great that Sienna is easier than Lila was. I find the constant demands for attention really draining. Caig just wants to cuddle and pat Ryan all the time. If I'm BFing he wants to sit on my lap too and if Ryan is in the pram he tries to climb in there. I wish I had the Phil and Ted's!
Rose - Isn't the 'talking' adorable? Ryan and I had a big old chat last night before he fell asleep. He tries to mimic my faces and is a lot more chatty than I remember Craig being. How are you doing now, from your last post you sounded like you were feeling a lot better.
Hannah - Motherhood feels so lonely sometimes, but we're here for you. Sorry you're having such a hard time with your Mum, Amelia and DH.
Carmey - Wow, I thought about doing the bus thing on Friday but chickened out and drove instead. I just wasn't game enough to do it with 2 kids. I'm also too chicken to starting running again, even jogging for 1.5km you are my hero! Ryan seems to have a similar feed/sleep pattern to Jack with the same times. We also do the feed, bath, story and sleep at night with Ryan and Craig.
Lilyzara - Welcome! We're a chatty bunch here
AndiE - How are those boys treating you?
Beany - Great to see you post. Sorry to hear about your MIL, how's her treatment going? It must've been great for you to have your Mum here, when does she fly back?
Hope I didn't forget anyone. Sesame? How are you doing?
AFM - We left for our on-site caravan on the 28th of December. It was really nice to be able to swim, waterski etc even though I could only do short stints of anything. I'm exhausted because I had to have eyes in the back of my head with Craig taking off and running all over the caravan park. I forgot the nipple shield one day when we were out and have been BFing for at least 2 weeks now without it. I hopped on the scales with Ryan yesterday and he weighs 6.4kg! We missed his 8 week immunisations while we were away so I have to do that next week. I'll get it done it in the morning and take him straight home for a quiet day in case he's unsettled. My stitches from my tear have healed, but we haven't managed to DTD yet. I might have to make the first move and DH is feeling down about his weight. I have 3kg left to lose and got on the Wii Fit yesterday to start making an effort to get some fitness back. It's great to be back home and able to do washing, shower and go to the toilet without having to use public facilities in a caravan park. Sadly, all my big tropical fish died because my auto fish feeder ran out of food and I didn't know we'd be away that long. DH renovated the caravan by putting in a new kitchen and floating floor, but it was so hot it took us ages to finish. It's pretty much done now, but I don't know when we'll be back there to finish it off.
Kisses to all the bubs and hugs to all the Mummies.

Hi Lani - yay Jett for going 8 hours, he's such a good boy.
Hi Suz - we have missed you heaps but sounds like you had a lovely break, good on you! Go you for only having 3 kgs to lose that's fantastic, I have about 6 or 7 kgs to lose My feeding is pretty much the same as before, my supply hasn't increased although my fault, I keep forgetting to take the Fenugreek 3 times a day, it's hard to remember anything let alone that. Must get better at it. I'm seeing the OB tomorrow for my check up now he's back from leave so I might ask him about the Motiliam (sp?) - I should give the natural ones a good go first. Amelia feeds about 10 mins each side and then she has 120 mls of formula, I'm onto 6 feeds a day with her last feed around 9.30 pm give or take half an hour. As for the pram, DH came home with some cash from a job he did the other day and said I can go buy the pram I want! I still feel guilty though considering the one I have is new and there's nothing wrong with it, I just want a different one LOL....what a pram snob huh! I have my eye on the Steelcraft Strider Plus as it has a toddler attachment. Has a $650 pricetag however Considering I spent $400 on the other one I feel like it's such a waste but even Paul said this morning to Amelia, we're going to give you a brother or sister and I was like WTF!!!!! ha ha, steady on boy steady on. Guess I'll be needing that toddler seat after all then! DH has the attitude, if you want it buy it because he's been financially comfortable for a few years thanks to working his butt off, whereas I come from a single parent household, had a mortgage on my own etc so have the thought process of not wasting money. But I still want it so have to decide don't I!!!!!!
AFM - Well we had our 2nd 8 hour night in a row and am stoked! I do find I still wake a couple of times expecting her to wake up though, can't win LOL. I think we'll have to try her in her cot tonight, she's gotten too big for the bassinette, this morning she was sideways in it with her head and feet touching either side! I feel sad about going to the cot, hope she doesn't mind it! She's cheeky during the day though, she falls asleep on you easily but the minute you put her down she opens her eyes! She's on DH's chest atm and he moved so she opened her eyes, so he was still there and shut them again!!!! Oh and the girl from work that I have spoken about a lot (the one who complains a lot) had her baby last night. How weird is this, so similar to my story, she was due on the 29th, had her on the 30th (same as me), born at 10.16 pm (Amelia was 10.26 pm), 3.2 kgs (Amelia 3.5 kgs), 51 cms (Amelia 52 cms) and guess what, she also had to have a c-section in the end as she wasn't dialating!!!!!! So bizarre. The crack up is though, she text me this morning and she's already complaining that she only got 1 hours sleep last night and the nurses are noisy......hee hee - get used to it! She had the same OB as me and same hospital, I can just see the nurses trying to change shifts, she will be a nightmare! She called her daughter Georgia Kaitlyn, quite a girlie name considering her herself is quite tomboy, she hates pink too ha ha. DH thinks it's a weird choice given her husband's name is George, he said it would be like us calling Amelia Pauline (his name is Paul). Anyway, I have the OB tomorrow for my check up now he's back from holi's and he's across from the hospital so I'll go see her. I bet Amelia will look huge against a newborn!!!!
How is everyone else going, do you find the days all melt into one? I used to look forward to weekends, now I have to ask what day it is ha ha!
