I was thinking for a while that it would be good to go back to work, get a bit of sanity back, now that the time is approaching I'm not very keen. But I really don't think I have a choice.

Alison, so this subject is pretty delicate...I had a nervous breakdown when I had to put Eva into daycare...I honestly do not feel the work thing, and still don't, but it is also because DH and I are in the process of ending this company and moving on to something else, so I am less motivated in my actual position...I was really stressed, saying I would not have this time back etc...I still agree that that is true, I still hate saying good bye in the morning and I still run to pick her up like a madwoman :) but I would prob put her in daycare even if I was a stay at home mom, at leat for half a day. I find that she has progressed immensely since being there and is advancing in leaps and bounds, I don't know if it is daycare, or just growing up but I really feel like she has learned some independence, and is more curious, social etc...when we came back from 5 weeks vacation she was crying every time a kid approached her and now she runs off to play every morning once I am out of her sight and she is done doing the "mom don't abandon me" cry...lol

On the other hand Amelia has alaways been easier, eats well and is social so maybe it is not necessary, and maybe you are right that after 20 years of working you deserve a break and to be home with your baby...I am seriously considering a year off once #2 arrives, but I think that I will still keep Eva in day care for a few hours a day. I find that it gives me time to do things without worrying about when she will wake up, feed, etc...and when she is sick I do have the freedom to stay holme with her, so I am not so stressed (Although if I could not be with her when she was not well it would bother me immensely, which is why I am also ok with working)...

I really believe that each child is different and each mother is different, like Beany, I feel like I need to get dressed, made up and get out in the morning, because when I had Eva at home I had days when I would not shower until 12 or so, and that bears down on me...I like her to have this structure too - she has become a better sleeper, eater, player since starting daycare and on weekends I am hers 100 percent except for an hour left and right when DH and I switch off in order to let the other work out or shower or whatever.

Beany worries about socializing Michael, and I did too, but if you feel like Amelia has no issues, and want to keep her at home do so.

Or, go back to work 2 or three days a week, and like I told Beany, if you don't feel it, then stop. Or do it for a bit then when #2 is in the works stop working to be home with the two. Don't stress too much, you will do what is right and if you are not sure what is right, do what seems best then you'll figure it out as you go. These are not decisions you cannot take back and putting her in daycare for a month while you try to work won't harm her...The first two weeks - month are really hard but then you start feeling like a woman again, not just a mother and it is kind of nice - picking her up ath the end of the day is the highlight of every day for me and we hug and are so happy to be together until DH gets home for her bath. We spend the evening with her and when she is off to bed we are together, and it feels kind of nice to have that back...When I spent my days following her rythm I never knew what stae I would be in by the end of the day, but again Amelia was always much easier.

Just do what feels right and if they are cool at your job then go in for the minimum, and if you are not feeling it then stop, but if you are sure you don't want to go back then don't...Just be careful because the emotions really get your head in a knot and make the stress much higher than it should be. I am finally very happy with Eva being in daycare, but when she went in I was crying and sick and having migraines because it stressed me out so much...DH told me if it keeps bothering me then I should stop working but to try first and I am glad I did...I cried a lot the week before and the first week, but now it is fine, and even when she cries in the morning I see she is just doing it because of a momentary anxiety, and as soon as she does not see me she is off playing - every day when I pick her up she is happy and playing with other kids or crawling into toy boxes tipping them over - also with her, which was a big issue for me, daycare has helped her really improve her eating and sleeping habits, which were very unstable...she is less fussy with other people than with me (like all babies)...so the structure of daycare is good for her, and she has gorgeous carers, they kiss her and love her and she is excited to see them every morning (just panicks when I leave)...so I know she is happy...

Alison, follow your gut, and don't decide based on what your job wants, because in the end you'll feel much worse choosing what is best for them than for you and Amelia....but just remember putting her into care is not going to be bad for her...it is just different than being with home with you and if it ends up being something short term that you change because you decide to stop working, she won't hate you for it ;) and at least you will be totally sure of your decision!

Beany, they are really getting to an age where I find that they deal better with the sched being thrown off left and right - not too often but once in a while, and they enjoy the new experience and interaction a lot more now...Eva went to her bestie's house on sat morning for three hours while DH and I went to work out and my friend told me she was just an angel - ate well, played well, didn't even budge when she cut her nails (my friend treats Eva like her own daughter, I am so lucky to have her)...she was a tiny bit grumpy for her afternoon nap but nothing major and slept super well...I used to also tip toe around her habits but she is def getting better at being flexible - I just try to keep her week stable (wake up and out of the house times) because she still has separation anxiety whenever I leave her, but stops crying once I am out of view! I saw the new pics on FB - you look really great - it seems like you are more rested and relaxed!

Tilda, Eva has starting falling into a similar routine to Michael too - she has 2 meals and 4 bottles or 3 meals and 3 bottles a day - I just wish she would stop thos 3/4 am wake ups...Yesterday she ate a lot though, I was surprised and did not wake up until 530 am to eat...We'll see. I just let he eat when she is hungry and I know things will fall into place on their own. She has become a solids champ, opening wide and finishing her meals - she eats any veggies I serve up even if they taste strong, brocolli, leeks, peas everything! So I am happy and letting her do what she feels! :)

Hi BS - I know exactly what you're saying and you're right. It's funny because a few people have mentioned the socialisation thing for Amelia and myself and quite honestly I socialise every week with people so that doesn't bother me at all. I have 2 groups of friends, my pregnancy aqua friends and my mums group girls and I see them every week. Amelia gets to play with other bubs and I get to socialise with other adults, and we don't always talk babies on purpose! I'm very lucky to have lots of people around me, some people don't so I can understand the need for that side of things. Maybe it's my age, given I'm 37 and all it's almost like I've done the whole "career" thing for now, my job while I loved it doesn't seem as important to me anymore and like I said before I am happy to work, I just want to find something else that is more of interest to me, my whole perspective on life has changed since having Amelia and my priorities are not worrying about dealing with someone at work who wants to give me the poopies etc. As an admin assistant you do have to put up with lots of bum wiping, personally I'd prefer to wipe Amelia's butt any day!! lol But, in saying all this, I got an email from my boss this morning, he was very lovely in it and said that he totally understands how I'm feeling and doesn't want me to stress. He said he needs to check with HR but he's happy for me to just come in one day a week initially and work from home as well but he wants me to do 2 days at home not 1 - so that's 3 days, I really only want to do 2, even working from home I'm not sure I could put in a decent day's work without having someone watch Amelia and I'm not really prepared to do that for 3 days in the week, that's eating into too much of the time I want to spend with her. DH will have her for the day I'm in the office which is lucky and I'm sure my sister's would look after her but it's not that, it's me, I don't want it to cut into my time with her, it might sound odd but that's the way I feel. But, if it comes down to that or not at all and having to repay the maternity leave money I will do it and give myself an end date of December and resign, that way I don't feel so trapped and really it's only a couple of months so I imagine that will fly by. It might be stuffing them around a bit but at the end of the day I need to learn to not worry about others and do what is best for me and my family and I think this is it, this is my compromise to myself ha ha! Anyway, it might not be possible, it also depends on if I can get my pc hooked into the network system at work so I can do the necessary work. One of the jobs I can do from home he said was the travel bookings which is what I wanted to do - it's my fave part of the job but he's also suggested taking over another part of the other admin's role which I hate, it's something I flicked ages ago when I managed to get myself an assistant, the woman I'd be doing the work for is a pain in the backside too so not sure I could handle it. But, my boss said to have a think if there's something else I could do, I think he's really going to do his best to suit my needs which is so lovely of him, which is part of why I feel guilty mucking him around but he's leaving at the end of the year anyway so I'm just telling myself that to stop me from stressing so much. I think a lot of it too is not coming back fulltime means the job won't really be mine anymore and I feel a bit weird about that as I'd built that job up to what it is. When I started in this department there was only me and 4 other people, there's now 70 people, it was a brand new position and I basically created it into what it is today - 3 years down the track. I know I can't having everything though, it's just a bit weird you know. It's such a tough decision to make to even consider leaving but I feel it's the right one for me. But, I'll give it a go till the end of the year, you never know, I might like it cough cough.....but seriously I'll give it a go. At least that way they can't say I didn't try - if it doesn't work I'll just tell them my situation has changed and it's best that I allow someone else to come in and take over. At least I'll be offering someone a really good job that is in a time in their life where they would appreciate it a lot more. It's really a fab company - it's Chevron BS, not sure if I've told you that before, but being from the US you will know who they are for sure hee hee. Our head office is in Houston and a lot of my colleagues are from there.

Anyway, you get the gist, I've rambled and rambled......of course this is all dependent on what HR says, they still might say no yet, but I shall keep you all posted. Thank you BS though for your input, I really appreciate having you girls to talk to about this stuff, I'm a terrible decision maker and this is one of those times when it's a BIG decision to make, not good for someone like me!

Mine's getting cheekier by the day, every day she has a new personality trait and can do something different, I think they really obviously start to grow from hereon in don't they. I'm trying to teach Amelia the word no at the moment but it's not working very well lol. Oh and BS, Amelia wore her stripey velour pants today, I've taken a pic which I'll upload onto FB soon. Hi BS - glad you're enjoying your time with your sister, I can see by the pics she's enjoying herself too. Yay for Eva sleeping 12 hours, Amelia's been doing the same the past couple of weeks aside from a couple of nights in between with teething where she's woken here and there. Have you started your TTC journey yet? Another girl at mums group is pregnant so that's 2 now!

Hi Beany - howd your first day at work go? I'm so dreading going back in 4 weeks, the only thing keeping me going is knowing it might only be for a couple of months max. I've been looking into something else I want to do from home, just a little side project, nothing big but I'm hoping it will be something I can get my hands into and sell on Facebook like everybody else seems to be doing, some ladies are making loads I see! Not that I expect that, it's more for fun and something to do in between my mum duties really. Will tell you all more about it when I get the materials to make sure it works first lol!

Hi Rose - how are you? Would love to catch up soon, I go back to work in 4 weeks, I'll be working Tuesdays in the office and Wednesdays at home so would be nice to squeeze in a visit, if not I'll have to meet you on Monday's or Fridays, Thursdays I have mums group.

Hi Carmey - I see by your FB status you're back at work too, but sounds like you're enjoying it. I feel bad that I'm not looking forward to it but your job sounds far more exciting than ordering stationery and doing people's expense statements which is probably what I'll be doing on the day I'm in the office, nothing like being the Senior Admin but doing the junior work lol. Oh well, my choice to work part-time and at least on the day/s I work from home I'll be the travel co-ordinator which was my most fave part of the job anyway.

Hi Tilda - hows things going in your new place now, all settled? I am so glad you put up pictures of Matilda recently, it's been so long since I'd seen her, she's growing so much and is still so gorgeous. Hope to see you back in Perth some time soon.

AFM - things going well here, I don't like to say Amelia's sleeping well because whenever I do that I jinx myself and she has a bad night lol. I took her to the pool today and she loved it, she had a 2 hour sleep afterwards and went down tonight looking completely knackered so hopefully she'll have a lovely sleep again tonight. She's teething again but she seems to be fine one day and pulling at her ears the next, she has a couple of 12 hour straight nights and then a night where she might wake up or fuss but that's ok, I just go with the flow, between teething and wonder weeks you have no choice ha ha! I can't believe they're getting close to their 1st birthdays, where has the past year gone. This time last year I was 4 weeks away from maternity leave, now I'm 4 weeks away from returning, boooooo.

Anyway better go, hope everyone is well.

Alison I think we're all pushed for time to post now with mobile babies! You just can't leave them for a second, well not Harry, he's always pulling himself up to everything and if you're not there he ends up falling, or chasing the cat, who hates him lol I can't believe she hasn't given him a good scratch yet! He just hasn't gotten the hang of 'gentle' yet.
I'm with you on dreading going back to work :( I need to go in next week and discuss my impending return. I'm desperately trying to think of something I can do from home too, but I just can't get my brain around anything feasible:dunno: Good luck with your venture!:)

BS Your sister looks like she's having a good time going by the facebook pics. It must be good to just spend time with her instead of being go go go and her being there to help out. Eva looks like such a character, and a bit of a show off ...I think they're all hitting that 'show off' age now, when they're starting to realise the reaction factor. They're gorgeous.

I've been meaning to ask for ages, you were going to have someone help with it, did it work out ok? Thanks for your tip about the Baby Einstein DVDs on Ebay, I couldn't find your buyer, but I managed to get a box set for $45 +$6 postage, so pretty happy with that, although it's only a set of 24 dvds not the full 26.

All is well here, number 7 tooth cut through on Sunday, so now he has four on top and three down bottom. Hoping the fourth bottom comes soon too so then we might get a break for a while from the joys of teething, poor little thing.

We are going well. Jett is still sleeping well. I really think we are teething we are having lots n lots of dirty nappies including one at 2am this morning. He has a very red bottom (first nappy rash since birth). Poor little munchkin.
We are going away this weekend up to the Central Coast so I have been busy this morning packing everything. I can't believe the amount of stuff I take for Jett.
I am not looking forward to returning to work. I hate thinking about it. I would love to be able to run a business from home that had guaranteed income. I am trying to think of things. I have a great idea but would need a millionaire to fund it.

Rose - I saw your FB status about the fibro. Sorry to hear its playing up. You've probably tried everything but if you're willing to go down the medication path, endep is good for chronic pain including fibro I believe. It's an antidepressant that works on pain as well. There a few side effects sometimes but it can be worth it if it works. It is so exhausting being sore all the time.

BS - I saw the FB pics of your sister and Eva. Your family is full of stunners!! You're going to have to keep an eye on Eva when she grows up! Poor DH LOL!

Alison - Sorry I never even replied to your FB messages!! Thanks for the risotto recipe. I've been too slack to do much cooking lately. Isn't that terrible!! And sounds like work is getting closer. At least you'll have a bit of pocket money. I wonder if you could become an online personal shopper for other busy mums?

Lani - It's great to hear you've got Jett's sleep sorted out! What a relief. Who would have thought it could be hormones!

Suzi - Hope the holiday went well. I'm very envious. I'd love some full time family time sometime soon. I really miss the days DH and I were both at home with Matilda. I guess it couldn't last for ever and eventually you need $$$$.

Hannah - what was with that person and the letter?????? How old were they? Five? I mean really, that's primary school stuff. You should post on FB "sticks and stones will break my bones etc" since that's pretty much the level of it!! Makes me angry.

Kawa - how's it going?

Carmey - You must be soooo busy now you're back at work three days a week!! Will still have to drag you over here though.

Willow - Harry sounds like he's into everything. It's a full time job following them around isn't it? You asked awhile back about the sleep training I think. Well I have to admit I've got a bit soft lately and for her day sleeps I'm often cuddling her until she's quite drowsy but she's usually aware of being put down in the cot which I think is the really important bit. And she self-settles at the 7pm bedtime really well now as long as I stay in the room with her. If I try and leave I get a big growl. Some of the tresilian nurses warned me I should leave the room from the start but I just hate the feeling of walking away from her. I think she'll grow out of this bit eventually. And she's only waking once or twice a night now instead of every 1-2 hours. So in my book it has been a success. I didn't do it really hard core as you can tell but it was enough to make some changes that made things more livable. I would really recommend you give it a go with Harry if he's still waking a lot at night. It was painful to begin with but worth it. For her too I think. I found even just working on getting her to settle in the cot for her day sleeps helped her night sleeps. I didn't do much crying during the night because it didn't work for us but because she learnt to go to sleep on her own during the day she was able to resettle herself most of the time at night.

As for us - We are finally germ free (touch wood - don't want to jinx myself). We've had such a bad winter. And the last flu which followed on the heels of the gastro was just almost too much to bear. But we've been well for a couple of weeks now and its just been so nice. I have my cheerful baby back! But I have to admit I"ve been feeling a bit flat lately. I think I found it really hard to say goodbye to my parents when they went home to Perth a couple of weeks ago. It was so lovely to see Matilda enjoy having her grandparents around and it broke my heart to see her want to hug them on skype after they'd gone home. I'm trying to convince them to come over for a few months next year. I feel bad about saying this but it's just not the same with DH's mum. She's such a difficult and unhappy person. She's actually coming over to look after Matilda tomorrow for the first time. I'm a bit hesitant because apparently she said to my SIL that she thinks my SIL and I wrap our babies up in cotton wool and if we don't let them hurt themselves how will they ever learn. She said my DH burnt himself once and never did it again!!! Well I"m sorry but I don't want my child disfigured for life so they'll learn a lesson! I told DH that I think we have a "different philosophy" and we agreed we would need to set some "guidelines". But hey, isn't it a gorgeous age at the moment. Matilda started waving and clapping while my parents were here and it is so cute. When I say "Ok, time for bed say night night to Daddy" she'll start waving at him. I'm amazed at how much they understand now. And she has become sooooooo active. She's up and down the house, climbing over everything, cupboard hunting...I really need to come up with some more activities for her. Any ideas would be welcome!!! Anyway, sorry it's been so long since I've been on. I've been thinking of everyone. And sorry Sydney girls that I still haven't done anything about catching up! Perhaps we should try something next week?

Yay! Finally BB is working again! I haven't been able to get on for a few days now.

Alison - My first day back was great! My work is pretty casual, so I spent most my time organising my desk and drawers! :lol: Michael was home with DH so I didn't worry about him hardly at all, I think that helped. I feel quite guilty saying I enjoyed work, as most people at work were asking how was I going, was I missing him, etc, etc. But to be honest, I wasn't really missing him that much! I was just loving being able to concentrate on something and go for a walk by myself. It was just lovely. But I'm sure Monday will be different, the novelty will start to wear off, and he'll be in daycare then, so I'll prolly constantly worry about him :( Oh I'd love to work from home too...I can't remember if I said how I bought my sewing machine partly cos I wanted to do the selling stuff on fb too. I'd even come up with a name and logo and stuff I was going to make. But then, I just didn't have the time or brain-power to take it any further. But GOOD LUCK with yours!! Can't wait to hear what it is!

Willow - Michael and Harry seem to be teeth-twins! Michael has 7 too, with the 8th not too far off. Hopefully then we'll get a break! Just seems to be constant teething lately! How is Harry's (and yours!) sleep going? I hope you're getting more rest.

Lani - Oh bummer about the post, thats sooo frustrating! Great to hear Jett is sleeping well, but sorry about the nappy rash. Yeah, Michael got his first nappy rash when he started teething too, I really do think they're related. Oooh, I hope you enjoy your holiday! Sounds lovely :) I know, we're thinking about going on one too...then I thought, how the heck are we going to fit it all in the car?! Good luck!

Tilda – Oh sorry to hear you were sick straight after the gastro too! Lets hope thats the last of the sicknesses for a while! And don’t worry, I think for most people its never the same with their MIL as with their own mother. That would be great if your parents could come over for a while, do you think they would? Sounds like Matilda is doing wonderfully, so I wouldn’t worry about what anyone says. I’m still waiting for Michael to wave, tho he’s just started doing high-fives, which is incredibly cute!

AFM - So yes, return to work has been successful thus far, but having said that I haven't really experienced a proper 'working' day, or while he's been in daycare...so its early days yet.

Both myself and Michael are in the throes of yet another cold, poor darling coughs so much while he's sleeping :( Is anyone else getting sick heaps? I went at least 2 years without getting sick at all, and now I've had 4 colds this winter (and given Michael 2 of them :( ). I think my immune system is really down, its taking me ages to get over them too.

But apart from that we're doing well. The day sleeps have been improving...we've had a few 1 hour sleeps, and even one 2 hour sleep one day! Touch wood, night sleeps are still good.

I’m on the hunt for a felt Christmas stocking kit, there are heaps online...I want to make Michael his Christmas stocking, there are some gorgeous ones out there! Hopefully I’ll decide on a design in the next few days.

Not much else to report really, he's still pulling himself up on everything, munching on the cot rails (grrr!!). Yeah, so he must be in between wonder weeks cos he hasn't done anything new for a while now.

Would LOVE a catchup with the Perth girls...hopefully from next week we’ll be feeling better. I’m free Thursdays and Fridays for now. Seems like ages since I saw you guys!!

Hi Beany, don't worry, it feels like we've been sick all winter. Matilda has had three really bad "grown up" cold/flus and then another couple of mild ones on top of that and I caught the three bad ones. Its hard when they blow big raspberries in your face not to pick them up!! It feels like Matilda is quite prone but I've seen worse. There's one bub in my mother's group which is sick literally every week. I feel like I"m being a bit neurotic but I've had to stop going because this kid just has green snot pouring out of his nose every week and then slobbers all over the other babies. I think its one of the reasons Matilda has picked up quite a few. I've got a feeling things are going to get better over the summer. Hope you're feeling better. It's tough looking after them when you feel so crap yourself.

AFM - Having a quiet Monday after a busy weekend. I was just wondering if anyone else's babe looks like they're trying to drop their second nap already. Matilda is getting really difficult to settle lately and I think its because she's trying to stretch her awake time out more and more. She was nearly up for four hours this morning. And now it looks like she's going to sleep for at least a couple of hours until about mid-day which will make it difficult to get her to have a second sleep. I think she thinks she's a big one year old LOL!! And it took me twenty minutes of coaxing to get her to lie down and go to sleep. She just wanted to stand up and play and would get really upset if I tried to leave the room. I wonder if I should just let her have that big sleep in the middle of the day and forget the second nap???? BTW I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm starting to think about number 2. I realised if I don't want to be pregnant over summer 2011/12 I need to get moving. I'm terrified of being pregnant in Sydney over Summer! I was as swollen as an elephant in the Hobart spring! But it means being pregnant with a small toddler! I can't win! But I'll probably have to drop these night feeds if I want to TTC. Does anyone know much about that?

Sorry I haven't been here much - things have just been crazy and I haven't had the energy for BB much. The fibro has been bad (as most of you have seen on FB) - it's actually the worst it's been for a few years. I've been trying to deal as best as I can, but probably need to suck it up and go and see my rheumatologist soon.

Tilda - Night weaning is supposed to help get your cycles back (if you haven't gotten them back already). I don't know if it always works, though. I know people who night weaned and didn't get their cycles back for months, still. It just seems to be a bit hit or miss. And thank you for the advice re endep. I actually used to take it before I got pregnant, might be time to go back on it.

beany - I'm glad that work went well for you on the first day. Hope it's still going well. I'd definitely love to catch up soon! Maybe next week, if you and Alison are free?

Hi to everyone else! Sorry, lack of energy for proper persies.

AFM - Things have been good and bad. As I mentioned, my health is getting pretty crap again. I'm getting really fed up with it. Last time it was this bad I ended up in a major lupus flare as well, and got stuck on steroids and methotrexate for months. Don't really want to go down that track again.

Dad's still going with his treatment - we'll find out next week when he goes back to China how everything is going. Fingers crossed that some of the tumours have shrunk.

Liam's actually doing pretty well. He slept through the last four nights! He's still having teething issues, though - we've had a couple of odd nights of screaming from the pain, which only nurofen fixes. Hopefully his top two teeth will cut through any day. I'm half expecting him to be an early walker, now, too. He spends most of his time pulling to stand and has started trying to stand without hanging onto anything. Needless to say, he's had some great tumbles because of it.

Hi everyone - sorry have been sort of MIa but enjoying my time with my sister and then this weekend was pretty full...

Alison, yes - AF ended on Thursday and I am officially TTC#2! Hopefully I get preg quickly, as I don't want to have to get on chlomid or anything like last time...I am on metformin now which should be enough - with Eva I got preg 2 weeks after starting metformin :) So I'll keep you guys posted...I should be ovulating this week! The last pics of Amelia are so cute - she is looking like a pretty little girl, not so much a baby anymore, know what I mean? DO you ever look at her and go *sigh* she is like a little person now...Last night I was sitting in Eva's room while she was trying not to go to sleep (i'll explain that later) and she just looked like a little toddler...Made me happy to be TTC again.

Willow, 7 teeth!!!! holy Harry! We got the bottm two and nothing else, but I think the uppers are coming in...Like Liam, Eva is waking up at night sxreaming then I put gel and she just falls asleep...

Lani, so happy to hear Jett's sleeping is back in order....He must be so much happier now...Lack of sleep is awful for babies and parents....you should put up some new pics too! We have not seen him in a while - how is DH doing with pitching in to help? Don't worry about work - the day inevitably comes and you will have to just deal with it when it gets here, so enjoy this time without stressing for that.

Tilda, thanks for the compliment - my sister is quite a cutie and her body is so amazing - I was always the chubby sister :) but I'm brainier...lol....we all get our strengths...She had such a great time with Eva and we were both so depressed on her last night here that we barely spoke :( I miss having her around. She is so upbeat and funny. She cracks me up and I missed having someone around who knows me so well. She will try to come back out in JAnuary so I hope that works out. For MIL, it kills me when people say stuff like that - I have other old fashioned people telling me stuff like that - like don't babyproof the house just give her a little slap on the hand when she touches stuff she should not and after a few times she won't! Ha! I am sorry, I did not have a baby to give her a disciplined life full of interdictions from the beginning - as adults we have so many rules and limits, and I don't believe a baby should have to deal with that too prematurely. I say no for cables, hot drinks, glass and if she is rough with the dog, but the house is free for exploring, and I organized my house and closets so that she can amuse herself in the bottom drawers (now full of scarves and handbags instead if shoes for example), and touch and climb on everything. Of course she will hurt herself, but my god to say if she burns herself once she won't do it again....ugh. Just try to babyproof as much as possible and move dangerous stuff out of the way since you know mil won't be keeping stuff out of her way and hope all goes well. You can't do anything about this, it is your MIL and eventually Matilda will be better at not falling and stuff...they are not as delicate as we think :) Good luck for that and let us know how it went. As for naps, Eva does 2 or sometimes 3 tiny ones at daycare (she used to do 2 long ones but does not seem to want to miss anything so does mini naps for the mo)....but on WE she will do a big afternoon nap....at home she stays so busy but gets less tired than at daycare so she goes down later then sleeps for like 2-3 hours sometimes...but some days she'll do two napsjust later....and some 3 but like 40min naps...she is not stable with that - it depends on her day but she is def fighting going down a bit more (but with her it is mostly her night sleeps)...I think it is normal - you should try putting her down for her first nap when she is really complaining for it and let her stay down for longer....1 nap might be better for her and she'll go to bed earlier. That's what eva does when she only has one.

Beany, so glad that you enjoyed your first day back - how did DH deal, was Michael super easy? Eva is so easy for her papa, with ocassional difficult days, but mostly is pretty easy...she is whinier with me...she expects me to understand her I think....You'll enjoy going back to work - it makes you feel like yourself again. I could never go back full time but it is nice typing an email or a BB post ;) without having to look up every five seconds to make sure the baby is not chasing the dog (or cat) or falling or eating a shoe...lol...you should not worry so much about daycare, and the first week just ask the lady if it is ok to call when you need - The first week of Eva's daycare I called like three times a day and they were totally cool with it and gave me updates and all that. It is good for you to get back some of your life...it is not selfish - every person is different and you miss the adult life, so enjoy it. You will see when he starts daycare that you rush out to get him and your evenings will even be more fun because you will be full of energy and time for him. Daycare is not for everyone but I am very happy to put Eva in. I need to have a bit of clear head time and this is when I have it.

Rose, I am sorry to hear about all these health issues...you really are strong for coping so well. I hope you get it all sorted out - have you tried the babay einstein with liam? I am curious to see if he will start making the sounds etc...

In our house, things are moving and shaking, she says 3 words now! Says them, not exactly but she says papa (that's for sure) mememe for me (she can't seem to get the ma sound, just the MMM) and officially she says dog. She learned dog from baby einstein and chases our dog around the house going dogdogdogdog....she calls BIL's cat dog too, and says it to most animals she sees in books and on TV, but she def says dog! She says papapapa to her papa all the time especially when she wants to play or when we go visit him in the office, she will start saying papa at the door, and then meme whenever she is complaining (go figure!), like if she is cryin gin bed not to sleep she'll cry mememememememe! And if her papa brings her over to me she'll reach out and go meme. I can't handle this - she is like a big girl...not my baby anymore...I am so happy and excited but it is so fast! But she is such a cuddler now, it is adorable. When we watch a video or when I read her a book on the sofa, she will cuddle up to me and give me a kiss and stuff, I love her so much!!! My heart can just explode - I never knew it was like this before I had her...and MIL tells me it just gets more and more intense as they grow...

She also does not want to sleep in the evenings again, much like what she was doing right before crawling so she spends an hour sitting and standing then dropping to sitting the standing then walking from one side of the bed to the other then sitting and talking to her doll then doing it over and over until she gets so tired she is doing it with her eyes half closed, so she ends up asleep in wierd positions and I have to go in there and adjust her....most nights she won't even let me leave, so she is totally fine and as soon as I step out she starts crying hysterically and screaming mmemememememememe.....I just get a game out on my iphone and play in her room but try to ignore her so she understands it is sleep time...It will pass, like that time before the crawling but it is still a bit tiring...She has also started cruising and switching over from furniture to furniture...and won't sit much anymore - she even watches her videos standing...and if we are sittting on the sofa talking she stands next to us and plays standing up and moves from one to the other....I think walking is coming soon...

Also think upper teeth are coming...and talking...and she barely drinks any milk anymore....she also prefers finger foods, her favorite thing in the world being cheese cubes but I have to watch out and only gove her one at a time or else she shoves like 5 in her mouth at a time! I have even given her chicken breast, fig, strawberries, and she loves it all...although lately she is not into fruit, just veggies...I think I am moving into toddlerhood!!!! She turned 10 months yesterday!!!

Ok everyone, so I'll try to get on a bit more since I am back at work...and I'll keep you all posted on TTC - send fertility vibes my way...I am so ready for #2!!!

BS - Ohhh soooo excited for you TTC!!! Good luck! :crossfingers: And I know exactly what you mean...they're not little babies anymore. I miss him being so small and helpless, now he just does what he wants, makes as much noise as he wants...def moving into toddlerdom! I can't wait for #2 too...but I think we'll still wait a bit longer. I can't believe Eva is saying words already! Michael is nowhere near, still stuck on dadada pretty much. Tho he has been going brrrr-aaa-brrr-aaaa, which I love :) She sounds like she's doing sooo well! Actually Michael acted up a little when DH looked after him, refusing to eat and drink. But then he slept pretty well (as he always does when DH looks after him!). I am very happy that Michael is in daycare too...in fact, I think even if I was to stop work, I'd still send him there at least 1 day a week because he loves it. And you're spot on...I felt so much like myself again even after that first day back. I just feel better about everything now, its amazing what a difference it made for me. Haha, thats cute about the cheese cubes! Michael does that with sultanas, I'm trying to improve his pincer-grasp so I give him sultanas to try and pick up...and he does...he shoves them in one after another so he has about 6 or 7 at once! Little monkey!

Rose - oh gosh, you poor thing. I hope things get better for you health-wise. Wow, trying to stand on his own?! Thats cool! Yeah, I think he'll be walking soon for sure! yep, I"m free next thurs & fri...but Alison, you're busy thurs aren't you? Is Friday a good day for everyone?

Tilda - gosh, isn't that frustrating when people bring their sick kids where there are other kids? But as you say, hopefully all this illness is a winter thing and hopefully things will improve come summer. I found it really ahrd when I was sick and he wasn't...just not being able to kiss him, trying not to breathe on him, it was really hard. But he still got sick anyway :( And I have wondered if he may be wanted to drop a nap...he has been taking FOREVER to get to sleep during the day lately, like up to 45 minutes of just playing around, chatting, standing up...etc. But then yesterday he had 2 2 hour naps! And he went down pretty quick for his morning nap today. So I'mnot sure. Does anyone know when they usually drop the 2nd nap?

AFM - Had my 2nd day back at work on Monday, and first day with Michael in day care. As I suspected, it was a lot harder for me...I spent a lot of the time day dreaming, wondering what he was doing worrying whether he was sleeping, eating etc...then by the afternoon I was missing him sooo much I got all sad. But I needn't have worried. My carer said he's the happiest and most contented baby she's ever seen, he was a pure pleasure to look after, he ate great, had 2 2hour sleeps (!) and was happy just amusing himself wandering around. Phew! I just hope that continues. She said it will be interesting to see how he is when he starts understanding whats going on, with us leaving him there.

He's been getting really cheeky lately...in his room I have the change table right next to his cot...and lately (while he has been put down for his nap) he's been sticking his hands through the slats and pulling things off the change table shelf and into his cot. I felt sick to my stomach when I walked in and he was there playing with a plastic bag :( And *somehow* he managed to pull the clear plastic wrapping off the nappies and into his cot. How he did that I do not know. So I have put cardboard between his cot and changetable so hopefully that won't happen again. Gosh, anything could have happened with that plastic...thank goodness he was ok :pray:

AND he has started biting me!!!! I was playing with him on our bed yesterday, rolling around with him and he was happily nuzzling into my neck when he gave me a hard bite! It really hurt (he has 7 teeth with the 8th on the way)! And he did it again a few minutes later, drawing blood! I know he's only doing it cos he's happy and playing around, but it bloomin hurts and I'm scared of him biting me now. :(

As you prolly saw on fb, we checked in on him in his playroom...and he was walking around with his walker! I couldn't believe it! He's never looked even close to doing that before!

Oh, and we've dropped down to 3 bottle feeds a day in the hope of increasing his solid intake, which seems to have worked. Its a lot easier having only 3 feeds!

Beany, I saw that video, he is so cute!

As for biting, Eva did that a few times, be sure to say no firmly - it might not hurt you so bad, but if he does it to another baby that is bad...They don't understand they are hurting us. Just say no very firmly and remove him from that area, then go on to playing - he'll stop, but be sure to control that before he starts liking it too much - I also read somewhere to be very careful not play bite him, since he will play like that...So we have tried that with Eva and she has not bitten in a while...we also keep things for her to put in her mouth handy, since teething seems to be coming again. It is crazy but it seems like baby teeth are sharper than adult teeth, no? like since they are not dull with use they freaking hurt!

For the staying with dad thing - I think they sleep better with their dads because they are slightly more stressed without us and they tend to play more with dad (at least in my case) so they tire more...Eva eats less well with her papa too, and I think it is also because he is not as used to feeding her so he is not as firm, although my DH does a killer airplane spoon which works wonders with Eva :)

I am glad he is doing so well - Eva is the same - they say she is such a doll and easy to deal with, sleeps well and eats well and plays and entertains herself. You will get to the point soon where he cries when you leave (which I have been dealing with for over a month now, but once you leave him he will stop (Eva literally stops when I am out of sight - Just out the door when I am putting my shoes on she stops and goes off to play. But I am so happy he is doinfg well....The thinking about him thing will go on for a while but soon you will get a rythm going and you'll see it becomes a wonderful thing to know he is playing socializing and getting good and tired...we just can't entertain them like other babies can at this point - or a huge room full of toys they don't have at home!

Eva has started spitting out her food, which is sort of annoying, she eats well, swallows a large part then blows a raspberry after almost every bite...I tell her no firmly, but she just keeps doing it, but I guess it will pass, like all of her other starnge ticks...she sort of had a period where she would scrunch up her face, then a period where she would stick out her tongue with food in her mouth and now this...

Ok, so I am off to work...TTC is going well - DH is very happy and so am I - we are getting our spark back :) being off the pill has also upped my sex drive so I am enjoying TTC :) We are going to enjoy as much as possible becauyse with two I am not sure how much DTD I will get for a while!

My friend here is finding out the sex of her second on Monday and I can't wait! And another good friend called me yesterday to announce that she is most likely also expecting her first, and another is giving birth to her second at the end of October...I want in! ROFL - It is crazy that once you put it in your mind that you want another, you become so ready so fast...

Hi Girls! My goodness I am SOOOOO far behind, I haven't been getting notifications again, then I couldn't find the thread and had to dig back, aaarghh!

BS - Yay TTC!!!!!! I've just been looking randomly at the thread for the group due in May so just pregnant and most of them have bubs our age and a little older, so makes me feel even more closer to being ready. You are so right, every time I look at Amelia I see a little girl coming along and it makes me feel more ready to give her a sibling, I was getting a bit scared for a while there but I seem to be seeing so many pregnant bellies lately and everytime I see it I want one ha ha! We will stick to our plan of end of year/beginning of next year but that will be here before we know it. Good luck mate, I am sending you sticky vibes to fall quickly, most people I know find their hormones are still strong so it's quicker than expected. It feels like just yesterday we were pregnant with our little ones yet look at how far they've come, the more I think about it the more I like the idea of having them close together, I think it will be physically and mentally challenging but think how cute they will be. I was talking to one of my ex boss's wife on Facebook the other day, she has 2 girls, exactly 2 years apart and she said it's so amazing watching them, they're like best friends, how sweet is that. She said she went back to work when her first was 11 months old (same as what I'll be doing) and hated it, lasted 4 months and left and fell pregnant straight away. I'm not sure I'll last 4 months but we'll see ha ha.

Hi Beany - I love seeing your videos of Michael, he's so good with that walking, Amelia has only just stopped commando crawling and is starting to learn to stand but no walking yet! What she doesn't do in the physical stakes she makes up for with her vocabulary, I can't say I'm surprised though, as you know I like a chat and I have very chatty sisters so I think it's in the genes, funny given DH is so quiet lol. Well too bad, she looks like him so at least she has some of my personality....although I'm thinking that might bite me in the bum later lol. She is saying so many words, of course she loves books and Sesame Street and Waybuloo and The Wiggles, I don't mind her watching a little bit of TV, as long as it's mostly those sorts of things, she so loves music and dances along (well bops) to the music and claps and everything. She's saying dadda, mumma, nana, dog, duck, giggle (well it sounds like that) and also, don't laugh but in her fave book there's a tractor, flower and turtle (it's one of those touch and feel books) and she's trying to say those words, they're not exact of course but it comes close hee hee! She's so cute. As for Michael's biting, I don't have that here yet but he has double the amount of teeth to Amelia ha ha! BS is right though, try firmly saying no, Amelia keeps trying to play with the tv cabinet contents, ie, the set top box, dvd etc and also she makes a bee-line for my dogs bed which is yuk as he's old and a bit stinky hee hee, Paul has started saying "no" in a firm low voice and she stops, looks and cries! It's sad to watch but it goes to show she knows what it means, of course I can't bring myself to do it so for now I'll leave the meany stuff up to DH ha ha.

AFM - everything's going well, Amelia's 4th tooth appeared last weekend after a week of not so good sleeping and whinging, she now has the bottom 2 middle, and one side and the middle top next to it, I thought she was bound for fangs but no, trust my daughter to do things differently! We're off to the farm for the long weekend, mum moved into her new house this weekend so I'm going to stay with her for a change, the holiday house is full with the brother and sister in law and their friends and kids so didn't have much of a choice, well, we could've stayed there but I think it would resemble something like the zoo so not my idea of a relaxing weekend. I've been trying to be good with my eating and not having chocolate during the week and doing a bit more exercise, although I could do more and in the last 2 weeks I've lost 1kg, it's not much but I always have more success if I lose 500 grams a week, it's better that way anyway......1 down, another 2 or 3 to go!!!! Grrrr. Oh well, it's a start.

BS - I"m sure you're right...his teeth do seem a lot sharper than my teeth, for sure! Prolly cos they're little too, it hurts more. He bit DH on the chest the other day...haha! So you are in the TWW? How excitingg!! I know this sounds wierd, but I'm kind of a bit looking forward to him crying when I leave thing. He's normally just so blaze (sp?) about everything, is never really bothered about me, very independent...it will be kind of nice to know that he wants to be with me! Michael went through a phase of spitting food out too, soooo annoying! But he hasn't done it for a few days, hopefully that phase has passed.

AFM - Not much news really. Michael has started chuntering to himself a lot lately, which I LOVE!!! His eating has improved dramatically, esp today, he ate heaps! I was wondering if he may be dropping his morning sleep, he seems to take FOREVER tohas missed out on that for a couple of days because his morning sleep went so late. But we shall see what happens...things are always changing!

And just wondering...I'm hoping to take him to the beach on his birthday for a swim...what do they wear for swimming??? I have no idea! I mean, I nkow they wear those 'rashie' things....but, does he wear the little swimming pants which come with them (sort of lined pants, but not a nappy as such)...or do I need to get him the huggies Little Swimmers pants??

Have had to retire a few of his grobags...he gets out of the ones with the shoulder poppers now!! Ah well...good excuse to buy some more! :lol:

Hi Beany I'm not sure what's going on with sleeps at the moment, he's all over the place, he had a couple of days with no sleeps or a little sleep so late(after5pm I couldn't keep him awake) that he was up until nearly midnight! Then yesterday he had one sleep, but it was huge 2 1/2hrs which was great he never does that it was great, then today he had one sleep in the morning then stayed awake until I took DS2 to work at 5.30pm and he fell asleep in the car. He does have a cold at the moment so maybe that's mucking him up.
So the Grobags, does Michael undo the shoulder poppers?(clever boy if he does :lol:) Or has he grown out of them?
As for the swimming I think the swimming nappies/pants are the go these days. You can get the disposable ones or cloth/re-usable ones, I guess it depends which you prefer. They didn't have such things when DS1&2 were babies so I'm not really up with it.

Hi Alison Go Amelia with all the words :dance: Harry's a slacker nothing here, except for the same old 'numnum' for food, not even a mum or dad.

Like Rose said about the night weaning and cycles, it is hit and miss. Everyone's different, my cycles returned, I think 4months ago, and Harry still feeds between 5 and 10 times at night (not fair in my book to have both lol). I know some others who have stopped feeding at night and still haven't had AF return.

AFUS Harry has cut his 8th tooth (they do seem to be teeth twins Beany :)) it's nearly all the way out, so now he has 4 up top and 3 down bottom. He's got a cold at the moment too, he's pretty chesty poor thing :( He desperately wants to communicate and is getting very frustrated, he gets the pointing happening but if you don't get exactly what he wants straight away he gets very cranky!
He absolutely LOVES music, he even has favourite songs and really seems to like Katy Perry lol. He tries to get us to put the music channel on the TV sometimes, he points and grunts and will bring you the remote to change the channel, very cute :D

Well it's getting late I'm sure I'll be summonsed soon for boob so I might have a quick look at fb then get ready for bed.

I keep forgetting to check BB these days. Any time I have to get on the computer I'm either writing or playing games (which I've only recently been able to do again!).

Liam's been doing generally really well. Still having some teething issues - he's working hard on his two top incisors, but they're taking their time popping through the gums. Thankfully on his really bad nights nurofen settles him. We did have a really bad night on the weekend where even nurofen didn't help - he was *screaming* for over an hour before he settled down. I was almost ready to get him in the car and take him to a doctor in case something else was wrong.

I almost have the feeling that he's going to be an early walker - he spends more time pulling to stand and cruising than anything else. But I know some kids can cruise for ages. He's only recent started getting comfortable with sitting rather than kneeling, too. It's so cute seeing him sitting up with his little legs poking out! He looks like such a little boy now and not a baby. It's almost making me want to start TTC again right now. Not that that's an option, since I don't have my cycles back yet anyway.

My health is still a bit all over the place. I've been putting off going to see my doctor, because I don't want to face another huge series of tests (I suspect that another autoimmune disease might be creeping in). Plus most of the medication I can't take while breastfeeding anyway. Liam's still only picking at solids, so he's getting most of his nutrition from breastmilk. And he hates bottles and cups in general, so I'd really not like to do formula unless we absolutely had to.

Thank you to those who asked after my Dad, too. He's back in China for another round of treatment at the moment. Everything is pretty much in stasis right now - the treatments he's been having are keeping his cancer in check right now, but not clearing it. He has a tumour in a lumbar spinal disc that's started pressing on nerves and giving him horrible leg pain, so they're focusing on trying to shrink that one at the moment. He's still upbeat about it all and working (even up there - he works remotely) as much as he can. He's an awesome guy.

And beany and Alison - let's catch up soon! I'm fairly flexible with times, though late mornings are best right now, since that's in between Liam's naps.

Heee, I'm at work now...BB seems to work better at work. Hmm.

Willow - Hopefully its just the cold. Poor little mite. that would have been a welcome surprise, the long sleep! You just don't know what to do with yourself when they haev a long sleep like that! To be honest, I'm not exactly sure how he gets out of his grobags, I suspect he pushes up so hard to stand in the cot, that the buttons just pop. I wouldn't have thought he'd be able to undo them himself...but you never know!!

Rose - I loved the video you put on fb...he's soooooooooooooo cute! And thats great he's cruising, Michael isn't doing that yet...he'll pull himself up on things then sort of bounce up and down, but thats about it. I'm going through the same thing, looking at him, seeing a little boy now and missing the baby stuff...definitely getting clucky! As for catching up...late mornings are better for me too now! Lets sort a date out of fb :) Your dad sure does sound like an awesome guy. I hope they're able to shrink the tumour. Oh gosh, poor little Liam. The top front teeth were hard for Michael too, and they took forever. I hope they pop through soon.

We both have that disease! Is she long for her age? Eva must be long too, because I feel like she measured pretty much around that on her last visit too...

BS - thats great Eva is cruising around! I'm sure she'll be walking in no time :) He actually hasn't been in day care this week, and won't be for the next week either as the carer has gone on holiday, so DH is staying home with him. But when she gets back he'll be going 2 days a week...will be interesting to see how he goes.

AFM - DH took Michael to the doc on Wednesday because he's had this little cough that he keeps doing during the night and when he wakes up...he can cough for ages and really hard. But apart from that he's totally fine. Anyway, the doc had a listen to his chest and stuff, and said that there is a slight wheeze from his left lung. He said there is a very small chance it may be asthma, but to monitor it for a week, if its no better he's given us a prescription for some stuff, and if its no better after that, to go straight back to him and he'll have to have chest x-rays. He did say he thinks its probably nothing tho...but I'm so worried. I don't want my baby to have asthma :( I keep thinking of all the things that might have caused it if he does...not being able to bf? Having unflued heaters on during winter? Having fan heaters on for his bathtime? Something to do with the carpet? Oh I don't know :( I just hope it clears up soon. :pray:

Hi Beany :hug: :hug: Stop worrying about why, we all have carpet and heaters, and you tried your very best to BF but without a nipple it was never going to work and it sounds like he very nearly sucked your right off!! I still shudder when I think about the gash you had :o It's just coming out of winter, he's had a few colds it could be just a little left over form a cold and it could clear up in no time. :hug: :hug: IF it is asthma, maybe he was always going to have it, no matter what you did. Is there a family history?

beany - The doc said a small chance it is asthma. As willow said, it could just be left over from a cold. Amelia is getting over one and still coughs overnight and in the morning. Back-sleeping doesn't help coughs either. But if (emphasise on if) he does have asthma, I highly doubt it is because of anything you have/haven't done.

BS - It's kind of strange reading the conception abbreviations again. So exciting. I've been thinking more and more about number 2, much to my surprise. I always wanted a 3 year gap between kids, but am coming around to having them closer. Although, 2 under 2 is still a little scary. Fingers crossed for you. Even though it's early days, stranger things have happened.

Rose - Sorry you haven't been well. I really hope you don't have anything else. Your body has more than enough to cope with already. I'm glad your dad is doing okay. It's a good sign that he's still pretty upbeat. At least the treatment is doing something by keeping the tumours in check. Sending lots of 'shrinking' vibes his way. Can I ask why he's having treatment in China? It's not the first place I think of for cancer treatment.

Alison - Amelia is growing so well. She definitely is a tall one. And what a vocabulary already!

Tilda - How is Matilda going with her naps? Has she decided whether or not she wants to drop one yet?

Suzi - I saw the pics of Craig's cake. Awesome effort! Shame it had to be eaten.

AFA - Amelia has figured out how to blow bubbles in the bath. It's so cute. I tried to capture a video of it, but of course she was too interested in the camera. While I was looking down fiddling with the camera, I look up and there she is standing in her toddler bath, holding onto the big bath tub! It's the first time she's tried to pull herself up on anything. Before that she'd only stand if we were holding her hands. Then when I was hanging her nappies up to dry, she kept pulling herself up on the washing basket. I had to put a stop to it as it got emptier as it kept tipping up.

She also has her next 2 teeth coming through (numbers 6 and 7). The top ones seem to come in pairs. Despite that her sleep hasn't been too bad. We got 6.5 hours straight the night before last! I still feel like a new woman even though last night wasn't as good. I think the next wonder week is coming.

AFM - I've actually managed to work a full week this week. My first one since returning to work back in July. Last week, DH and I were both home for a few days with colds. Amelia had it to, but I seemed to get the worst of it. I think I have a secondary infection because I've had this ache in my jaw and cheeks. I won't go to the doctor....I'm so sick of being sick!

For those who asked, I've had no more awful mail. The person DH and I suspect posted on FB and it reads a little like an apology. But I'm probably just reading too much into it because I already suspect that person. I'm waiting for all my IRL friends to get back from Canada (yes they all went without me :() to ask them if they recognise the handwriting.

Anyhoo, I probably should get back to work. Have a great weekend girls.

ETA - I wanted to add that DH and I actually DTD the other night. The first time since since I was pregnant. I hadn't really missed it, but it's amazing how much I feel things are on track since, ITMS.

Hello to everybody, It has been super quiet in here lately, I guess as our little ones are getting older we are having less and less time to ourselves. No more putting them on a blanket and leaving them on their backs!.

Beany: How's Michael going? are you going to take him back to the drs this week? I hope all is OK. Even if it is Asthma it has become quite manageable lately. My Dad, brother, Hubby, 2 nieces, 1 nephew and myself all have asthma too but seam to be able to keep it under control!.

B.S. woooohooo! ygg! Your husband must be over the moon!. Where on earth do you find the time? I remember we started trying for number 2 when Lila was 9 months old and it took us 3 months....(I think Sienna was conceived on Lila's first Birthday!) If anyone ever has any questions on 2 under 2...I'm your woman!...

Suzi: you would know what it's like too...and that Thomas cake was pure genius! well done!. Must have been demolished in a few seconds though, it looked so yummy!...

AFSienna... I haven't written on here for a while but the last 4 weeks she has taken off in leaps and bounds. Now this is the horror part and I am hoping you can all sympathise with me.... she has got 7 teeth ALL AT ONCE! She has nothing a few weeks ago and then BANG!. she has been such a little trooper though, I don't know if its psychosomatic but we have got a amber teething necklace around her neck and maybe that is taking some of the pain away? either that or she is just a really tough little bub.
The hardest thing at the moment with her is getting her to sleep and back to sleep. She has got very clingy over the last few weeks and will not fall asleep if you are not in the room holding her hand. We have tried doing all the routines but she screams so loud that she wakes Lila up then we have 2 screaming babies who are not sleeping .... such a vicious circle.

She is also crawling around so fast now and has been standing up and doing a foot shuffle, she also loves holding on with one hand whilst holding the couch.

AFMe... we sold our house, :leap:It was open on the Saturday and 2 offers that day and we accepted an offer on Sunday. It took us so long painting and repairing but we made a great profit and hope to buy on the northern beaches. If we can't find anywhere we will move in with Mum and Dad... (a little squishy but not for too long):juggle:

Anyway, enough from me, hope you are all well and your littlen's are too.:grouphug:

Eva is home with me this week, sick with gastro again, but not a bad one. I am just keeping her for my pleasure...lol....she should be back to DC tomorrow or Wed at the latest.

You are doing really well coping with 2 under 2. Craig was already 2 when Ryan was born, so we don't quite qualify. I sympathise with the 2 screaming babies at night though, when 1 wakes up the other 1. There are days where it's just impossible, see below...

Brussels - I hope Eva's feeling better soon. She sounds perfectly average, size-wise. And I agree, the weight loss is probably due to her being more active. Ah, the TWW. How exciting! And lots of action too. I almost feel like I need to make an appointment with DH to get some action. Last time was during our holiday in Cairns.

Beany - Did you get Michael to the Dr again? Asthma, as Kanda said, is pretty manageable these days. Don't worry, it's nothing that you have done.

AFM - Ryan's also suddenly developed lots in the last few weeks. On our holiday to Cairns he got tooth number 3, then tooth number 4 when we got back home. He gave up the commando crawling and started proper crawling. Then a week later he was pulling himself up to stand. Now he stands all the time. I had to start pulling the side of the cot up, in case he gets too adventurous and dives climbs over the side! We had Craig's 3rd birthday and I made him a Thomas the Tank Engine cake, which a few of you must've seen pics of on fb. That took me nearly the whole night to build and decorate, but it was worth it.

Last night the boys were driving me nuts and I needed to finish dinner, so I put Ryan in my new peanut shell pouch on my back (in hindsight I should've put him in the highchair on the other side of the breakfast bar). Craig was running around and I was shooing him out of the kitchen because I was about to grab a pot off the stove. Then I've gone to pick up the pot, stepped backwards, in to Craigad come back in to the kitchen and was standing behind m, some boiling water has slopped out of the pot and I hear Craig scream. I had him naked and in the bath with cold water running all over him before you could say 'Jiminy Cricket'. He has a first degree burn on his forearm, but each time I look at it the red patch is getting smaller. Hopefully it won't blister. That was my absolute worst fear come true and now I am wracking my brains thinking of ways I can keep the boys out of the kitchen as it's not a simple matter of putting up a safety gate.

Hope you never have to go through that girls :(

Thanks for your concern, girls. DH took him to the dr again on Monday as his cough had got much worse plus he started with ANOTHER cold on the Sunday. The doc listened to his chest and said that the wheeze had gone (phew!), but to give him this steriod stuff for the cough (Redipred or something?) for 3 days, as it was keeping him awake. Day 2 and he does seem better, didn't cough as much over night. Hopefully its not asthma, we'll just have to keep a close eye on it.

Suz - I've been having problems too, its only been the BB site as well. It has improved the past few days tho. Oh gosh, that must have been awful spilling the hot water on Craig. Is your kitchen not suited to a safety gate? Have you got another area or room you can cordon off and put them in there while you're in the kitchen?

BS - Oh poor little Eva, I hope you don't catch it too. Is she all better now?

Kanda - Goodness me! All 7 at once! At least she got them out of the way quick, blimey! Congratulations on selling your house so quickly! That must be a weight off your mind, have you found a new house yet?

Hannah - thats great you feel back on track. Its amazing how the little things can make such a difference, isn't it? Great to hear Amelia is pulling herself up on things now, its so cool! But scary too...you really need to keep an eye on them!

Willow - Ugh, I know. I remember the pain as clear as if it were yesterday. It took weeks to heal. I'd love to know why it happened, they all said his attachment was fine. Oh well...hopefully round 2 will go a bit better! Actually one of the mums at mothers group had it worse than me...she said her nipple practically split open "like a fig". Ekkk! But I think you're right, that his wheeze was left over from his cold, cos he had been coughing since his last cold.

AFM - As I mentioned, Michael has another cold. This is his 5th one. Honestly, I don't know why he gets sick so often :( His 8th tooth is still making its way through, its sort of half sticking out of his gum, but still covered in gum, if that makes sense, like it hasn't cut through yet. Its been like that for a few weeks now.

Kanda 7 Teeth! Go Sienna! We have an amber teething necklace too I think it helps we actually lost it for a while and since it has been found and is back on we haven't had to give Harry drops (Brauers teething relief) as often and he's working on tooth number 8 now. As for being psychosomatic, that would only work if they understood what the necklace was supposed to do wouldn't it? Or maybe our psyche projects onto them, or maybe we handle their fussiness better because we think it's helping...?? I think I'm rambling now lol

Beany I'd say Michael's wheeze was probably left over from the last cold and hanging there with this new one coming on just think how good his immune system is going to be. I had trouble with painful bleeding and a cut looking nipple (not like yours though) with Harry and everyone kept saying his attachment was fine. It was after 2 adjustments at the chiro that it came good, he had a bit of soreness/tightness in his neck & upper back most likely from the birth, and everything came good! He just couldn't get his head around enough on that side(my right) so the attachment looked ok it was his head position that was out, but very hard to see. Anyway I stopped BF with DS1&2 for the same reason I wish I'd known about chiropractic back then maybe it could've helped. Could be worth a try if you have any drama with #2, which you might not :crossfingers:

Suzi Welcome back! Lots of us had trouble getting on to BB after the site went down with the change over to the new server, then Kelly was away so there was s few things to fix up when she got back she must have fixed whatever the prob was cos you got back on the day she came back I think.

I love daylight savings, and the warmer weather, but this in between is a killer! I don't even know which grobag to use at night it's so changeable grrr tooth #7 almost all the way up and I think #8 is on it's way. Sleeping is still crap and I have pretty much given in and accepted it is just him and he will grow out of it eventually. Some days are worse for me tired and mood wise than others, but there's not a lot else I can, or am prepared to try IYKWIM.

Better go Harry's grumpy will try get back on later sorry to those I missed.

AFus we had a nice day out today at my nephew's 2nd birthday. Harry put on his usual perfect baby while we're out show lol He does this big cheesy grin now it looks forced, but he's worked out if he looks at someone and gives the huge exaggerated grin they think he's adorable and they'll talk to him, so he used his new skill a lot today :D Surprisingly he didn't scream blue murder in the car either, I hope this is going to be a continuing trend :crossfingers: we bought the Katy Perry cd for the car he likes 3 of her songs and so far it seems to be working, only thing is we have to listen to the same 3 songs over and over until we get to where we're going, but it's better than the screaming! Thank you Katy :) I wasn't a huge fan, but I am now :p

WOW it has been very quiet in here, I have also had trouble getting onto BB.

Just a quick one from me as I am at work :( Yes the dreaded return has happened.
I am not liking being back at work as I miss Jett terribly and I am also doing a different job than before I went on Maternity Leave and I hate it. I a, basically doing filing and booking couriers and some data entry, way way below what I was doing before as I was a Compliance Manager (however still getting paid that rate) it is sooooooo boring and the days drag. Jett has been ok so far with being left my mum is doing 1 day a week and 2 days in family daycare. I do enjoy being able to go to the toilet when I need to eat lunch on my own and have a little time to myself but miss him to bits. Well I might have to try for #2 so I can have some more time off.

How is the 2WW going BS?

We had an appt with Jett's dietician yesterday and all seems to be going well, she has given me some more receipe ideas and foods that he can eat from the supermarket, but otherwise she said I am handling his allergies well. He weighed 10.1kg and is 73cms long. Jett has a bit of a cold at the moment so was very sooky on Monday but seems much brighter and happier today. We still have 0 teeth. I have a little gummy bear.

I hope everyone and their bubs are well.

HI Lani :hug: for being at work and missing Jett :( I have to go back on the 15th of November :( I'm dreading it, although going to the toilet alone sounds good :p Glad Jett's been good with being left with your mum and family day care at least you don't have to worry he's miserable while you're at work.

Hi girls!

Sorry I haven't been around much - I run out of hours in the day so quickly! All non-baby time is pretty much taken up by work now, not much left over for forums.

Hopefully I'll find some time to come back and leave proper persies. Just wanted to post a couple of updates.

Liam is doing well. His sleep is still pretty all over the place after the last bad teething episode. His top two incisors have popped through, now, though. It's really cute seeing him realise that he can actually bite with them. Not that he's still that into solids, though. We're definitely going to be doing extended breastfeeding - he loves his boobie too much!

I think we also might be looking at an early walker. He's started walking with a walker toy now, getting more confident with it every day. And he's managing to stand unsupported for a few seconds, and again, getting better at it each time he tries.

And we officially have words. He said "Daddy" properly for the first time a few days ago - DH promptly went to work and bragged to everyone :D Yesterday he started saying "Yuck" and said "hello" to a little girl when we were out. And this morning he's started saying "cat" when he sees our cat. Blows me away how quickly he picks up words!

As for me, I'm doing okay. The fibro is settling down after getting back to regular massages. I'm also weaning off Zoloft at the moment (fed up with the side effects) and that's going as well as it can.

And the best news, which I shouldn't have left for last. My Dad just got the results of his latest scan after the last lot of treatment (which was a new chemo drug and stem cell therapy) and all of his tumours are shinking, more than the doctors expected. There has been much dancing of joy around here for the last few days, I can tell you. He flew home from China last night, so we'll go and see him today. He'll be looking at probably another two trips for more chemo, but there now exists a possibility that he'll be able to go into remission for the first time in six years.

Argh, cranky baby. Back later, I hope!

Liam sounds like he is doing really well. Also glad to hear the fibro is settling down.

I have a slow mover, we crawl backwards and bum shuffle and try to pull up but no walking signs yet. We are saying, duck, mumma, dadda, no with the shake of the head too :dunno: (very cute), dog occasionally.

Work is still no better, I don't know what i should do. Before I left I was in a manager position with tons adn tons of responsibility and was flat out no free time and basically now I am the office junior doing filing, data entry etc but still getting paid my same salary. Should I say anything? I am bored and not enjoying it at all.
This morning there hasn't been anything for me to do, so I have been trying to plan what we are going to do for Jett's birthday. They are fast approaching what is everyone else planning?

I think you should say something if you're not happy at work. Why is it that you're not back to you're normal duties? They're having trouble with my duties at work too and I was only doing cleaning and a bit of personal care for the oldies. I don't understand how it can be such a drama when they knew it was maternity leave and when we would return. Sounds harsh but when it's return time I assumed it was we slip back in where we were before and our replacements, who were hired to fill our temporary mat leave positions were found other work? There have been other big changes with my work place which hasn't helped I guess.

You know what it's like, when Amelia is down for a nap I have only so much time to exercise, have my shower, get dressed, put on my face and get ready for the day, aargh! lol I'm so far behind it's not even funny so will have to try and catch up so will go back and read everyone's posts later on.

Things are well here, now......the last 2 weeks has been a nightmare. Between teething and a wonder week Amelia's sleep and moods went to hell! She was going a full day without a proper nap and/or waking heaps at night and I mean waking - sitting up in her cot, crying uncontrollably, I was having to rock her back to sleep and was up for an hour or two at a time, it was a killer. At the time I was thinking no way I'm going to try for another for a while now but now it's passed I'm feeling happy about it again ha ha. Kanda - I will definitely have some questions for you, I'm a bit freaked out about having 2 under 2 years or around that but given my age I don't have much choice and I do like the idea of them being close in age. Also during all this bad sleeping time had some horrible things happening with accidents, Amelia fell down the stairs (my fault for taking her upstairs with me and taking my attention off her for 2 seconds) - she was totally fine but I felt so sick - I didn't tell a soul about that, not even hubby, then 2 days after that she fell off the bed while I was changing her at my mums...she's so quick, I even had my hand on her at the time and I reached into the bag to get a wipe and she rolled off! Again she was fine, landed on her bum on the carpet. Then a few days later my normally happy go lucky dog decided to have a swipe at Amelia because she touched her face and scratched and bruised her head! Needless to say she's not allowed inside while Amelia is awake. That made me feel sick that one. Honestly girls, what a week or two I've had! But, all is back to normal now, Amelia is sleeping so well again, 1.5 hours in the morning and the last 2 days she's had 2 hour sleeps in the arvo and sleeping 11/12 hours at night again, last night she didn't even fuss once, I woke up this morning wondering what was wrong!! I'm making the most of it until the next wonder week and teething hits because I've heard the next wonder week is the worst and I've struggled with this past one as it is! Amelia is coming along in leaps and bounds though, she's saying heaps of words, the health nurse was even impressed, she's crawling everywhere - she's been a little slower than others with that and is only just getting up on her feet now but that's ok, I'm in no hurry for her to walk thanks ha ha! She's got a real personality now and if you say no to her she cries, it breaks my heart but she has to learn, she's into hitting you and then giggling at the moment so I'm trying to teach her it's naughty but she cries when I tell her off, I hate it ha ha ha! She's such a character and is definitely becoming her own little person now, my little baby is almost gone!!!!!!!

Just busy organising her naming ceremony which is in just over a week and then her birthday party in 6 weeks or so, OMG can you believe they're coming up for 1 already!!!!! She has 3 1st birthday party invitations already, 2 on the same day (!!), it's just a shock that we're at this stage already. Talking of which, I'm back to work next week, I'm totally and utterly dreading it and just want the 2 months to be over so I can quit. It just doesn't sit right with me at all, next year DH has told me his mum is going back to full-time teaching so I can take over doing the accounts for his business. Perfect as he will pay me, it won't be my usual lovely salary from Chevron but seeing as we're moving into the house where the office is next year I can work from home and it won't affect my time with Amelia or anything, bargain! I'm looking forward to catching up with some people at work but physically taking the peak hour trek on the train into the city and being gone for 10 hours from Amelia does not make me happy at all. Thank goodness it's just one day, not sure how I'll go the day working from home, work haven't even organised my remote access yet so the rate I'm going I won't even be able to access the system anyway, they're so hopeless with things like that!

Anyway, I will read back on everyone's posts, hope you are all lovely and well and your bubbies are going great guns, I will promise to get on here more often, let's hope I get notifications now!!!

Hey everyone, no time for persies, but I'll try to get back on tom - just some news - DH and I have decided that I will be staying home with Eva until the sale of the company and until we start the next project...so I am officially a stay at home mom for at least the end of this year...! And Eva is 11 months old today! Starting to plan her first bday party!
