pinny how is L today??
Arrgh - bad night here! J wouldn't go to sleep until 9.30, then needed resettling at 10.30 and 11.30. Then G woke up at 1am with a sore tummy which turned into vomit at 2.30 so I got back to sleep at 3.30. I slept on the couch from 3.30 - 6.30 when the stupid dog wanted to go outside - Grrrr! Of course both girls are chirpy and right as rain this morning and I feel like death :wall:
Anyhow - enough about me! Has anyone heard from Ellie? She hasn't been on in a while.
I am also thinking about Tracey. She has changed her username (I found her in one of the threads I used to belong to and worked out it was her). I think a card or somethingfrom our group would be nice - Kaz, you have her address don't you? Maybe we can put money in anad send her something?
Pinny - I hope L is ok this morning. I know there have been a few bugs going around!
Olive - lucky you having a night out :D
By the way - Are any of you Melbourne girls going to the meet on Saturday? I am going with my 2 girls and would love to see some of you :D
yuk night here too nai!!!
S woke 4 times and M was fine til she woke at 3.30 wouldnt settle so fed at 4.30am, she was hungry so i feel awful. tired as well.
sorry to hear G was vomitting, hope she stays well today.
not going saturday nai, sorry, but would have been great to see you, S still asked about G!!
Oh Nai that sounds like a horrible night you've had. I hope you can get some rest this afternoon. You too Olive.
Kailani - Thats great that L is settling quicker. I do that too sometimes, stay up til all hours when I should be in bed!
I do still have Tracey's addy (assuming she hasn't moved). I remember reading in a thread ages ago that she valued every opportunity to acknowledge and honour the memory of Milana. I think it would mean a great deal to her if we acknowledge Milana's birthday somehow. I will have a think.
ETA - There is a bit of debate on in my house/family atm about the colour of DS's eyes. If you get time, could you all check his pic on my profile page next time you're in fb and offer your opinion? Ta.
had a shiat day today, made DH stay home from work, something he's never dont but i needed some help, i needed him.
washing machine died  not back til next thursday :o
DD2 has fluid on her ear drums :(
Olive- That prolly explains the crap sleepless nights, glad your Dh stayed home, sometimes we just need that help.
Kaz- my first thought was how gorgeous that pic is! But his eyes look greyish to me. But can see couple brown specks thru it.
Nai- I can't go, have to work tomor morning. At least I get paid time and half for bloody weekend work!
I think Emily getting a cold, has snotty nose and not happy, but on the upseide once she has settled for sleeps she slept well, last night slept thru til 7:30am this morn! :o Then had a 2hr+ sleep this morn.
Hi everyone
Have been offline for a few weeks...just popping in to say hi while I try and catch up on everyones news...Ex
Kaz - yeah I thought J's eyes were gorgeous, but that's not a colour - blue???
OMG DD has been up since 11am! Tried to give her an afternoon sleep and she wouldn't have it so looks like only one sleep today :o
:o heaven :o eeeeekkkkkk no not yet miss G!!!
kaz there a tough one to work out! what colour eyes are yours and DH??
ellie good to see you back!
shell how was work? hope you werent too tired after getting up early!
AFU bad night again, sleeps today ok, went down without the usual screaming so fingers crossed tonight will be ok, she also feed to almost asleep tonight something she hasnt done for a few nights, man we neeeeed a good nights sleep.
DH great aunt died last night :( we were going to see her this weekend as we found out thursday she was dying, so sad we didnt make it, she was the lovelest lady, we cant go to ther funeral either as we have a very special event on friday to attend :(
Well we have had a catch up sleep day today! No idea what is going on but we were awake at 6am then went back to sleep at 8:30am and she slept for 4 HOURS!!!! Then had another sleep this arvo at about 3:30 and just woke up at 6:30pm! Another 3 HOURS!!! Must be some major growing going on. I also think maybe because it is so stinking hot here today that was her way of coping. Would make sense in a way because I fell asleep for 2 hours this arvo on the floor in the lounge room.
I am going out tonight to the movies so DP has Ash tonight. I am going gold class. Never been before! LOL!
Hope everyone has a good night. Thank goodness for the cool change that has just come through.
Hi all,
Olive, sorry to hear about DH's great aunt :(
Ali, wow on the sleeps. Fantastic news!
Heaven, hope DD has a great sleep tonight to make it up.
Shell, hope it isn't a cold!
Hi everyone else :)
AFU, where having heaps of feeding issues. L just won't eat anything. Anything I make him he will just clamp his mouth shut and turn his head away. I don't understand :( I mean he must be hungry right?? Sometimes he will eat toast, sometimes yogurt & avocado, but more often than not he won't. Anything wholesome that I try to cook, he won't even try. It's like he doesn't trust what it is?? I don't know... anyway, I guess I just want to know if it's another crappy phase, as he used to eat well, and is it detrimental to his growth if he is refusing to eat??
Kailani- How many days has he been doing it? Is it relatively new thing? Only asking cause I find maybe 2 days before she actually comes down with anything I find Emily goes right off her food so think it could be due to sore throat or something.
Olive- so sorry bout great aunt, may she RIP.
Ali- enjoy gold class! I've been 3 times i think and after each time I think how I can't go back to ordinary class!
Hi Ellie!
Heaven- Did she go down ok tonight? She sounds like how DD1 was, so not into day sleeps!
I've been finding I actually enjoy going to work, i just need that break from daily life at home. Plus now I get to get a cleaner, woohoo (my sister is going to do it) gives her money and me off cleaning crappy jobs.
Home again.....movies were sold out!!! So friggen annoying!! Couldnt believe it!
That sucks! Its so crap when that happens cause it takes effort to plan a night out! I guess being sat night. You should go over to the friends p[lace and watch DVDs or something!
Olive - sorry to hear about DH's great aunt passing.
Ali - bummer the movie was sold out.
Meg - Alex goes the same way, some days he eats everything and then hte next day, not that interested - i put it down to his teeth/sore gums/just ain't interested.
Heaven - ohh nooo Miss G with the afternoon nap = hope it's just a one off.
AFM - one of my GF's DH is needing a heart transplant, he's been having health problems for about a year now and it's gone this far - the local hospital didn't pick it up, and he's in sydney, so she's doing the three hour commute one way.. fingers crossed for him.
How annoying Ali :wall:
Shell, he's been doing it for ages, maybe a month or 2?? So over it, I find meal times really stressful because I go to all the effort to prepare and make him something and he just refuses to eat it and I end up frustrated and angry at him and then concerned about why and what may come of it :( Anyway... glad to hear you're enjoying work. Woohoo on the cleaner!
Speaking of work...on an impulse, I wrote a letter and handed it in today, stating that I am extending my mat leave by four weeks as I want to utilise the whole 52 weeks I'm entitled to. I had initially thought that I had used the whole 52 weeks up but then I realised I actually took 4 weeks of annual leave during my absence, so figured that I'd deduct that from the 52 weeks mat leave I thought I had taken and be entitled to a further 4 weeks off... does that make sense?? Anyway...I re-read my leave details contract and it says this:
and this is on the maternity leave policy information from the HR website::
The maximum period for a parental leave absence is 52 weeks (including all different types of leave)
I'm mostly confused about the underlined bit. Does this mean that my annual leave was actually treated/considered as mat leave and I am not entitled to another 4 weeks?? That is so unfair! I would have thought I was allowed a total of 56 weeks leave - 52 weeks of mat leave, and also 4 weeks of annual leave (which to me, is totally independent of mat leave!). Now I think I'm wrong, and the new manager who will read my letter on Monday will think I'm an idiot for demanding extra leave when I'm not even entitled to it. She will probably think I don't even want to come back! This is the third time I've written to advise of an extention to my leave...:
The 52 weeks absence will be reduced by any period of parental leave (including annual leave and/or long service leave taken as part of the parental leave absence), taken by an employee's spouse in relation to the same child and, apart from up to one week's leave at time of confinement, is not to be taken concurrently with any parental leave taken by a spouse.
Sorry this is so long, but what do you guys make of it??
ETA, malyna, fingers crossed for your friend's hubby.
Hi Ellie - I hope you are doing ok! How's the morning sickness? Has it eased off any?
Ali - Grrr! How annoying! Wasn't there anything else you could see? :(
Shell - Good to hear you are enjoying work. I have one week left. I went and got my hair done yesterday and bought some new clothes in preparation.
Kaz - What colour do you think DS's eyes are? What colour are yours and DH's?
Malyna - fingers crossed for your friend
Olive - Sorry to hear about DH's Great Aunt
Holly - I read it as you are entiteled to 52 weeks leave but if you choose to take part of that as paid leave (being annual or long service) then you don't get any extensions beyond the 52 weeks. I actually extended mine by a week as I was meant to return on Australia Day (a holiday) and then the next day of work I would have had to take leave as DD1 starts kinder that day and I want to be there with her. So my manager said not to worry and just come in the next week.
AFU - I ended up getting the tummy bug so have been a bit sick and tired lately.
Holly- I think too it includes the annual leave, I know most jobs do it that way you get year in total regardless of how you took it. I think only sick leave is exempt from it.
Try not stress bout the food intake, ask my mum and she will tell you how shocker an eater I was, only wanted milk, she was always in a panic down at the health centre, but look at me now, I can't stop eating! My mum always brings it up to me. Just keep offering, don't make anything time consuming if hes just gonna waste it, eventually he'll just start eating. DD1 wasn't a great eater now she tries anything.
Malyna- Thats terrible about your friend, in what time frame does he have to get this heart within? What a stress for his wife.
Nai- Hope you get over the tummy bug soon. Just in time for work, new clothes and hair sounds nice tho, dont get to do that in my job.
Snot city here and missy hates having her nose wiped.
Holly- I am sure its just another phase. I am starting to work out that there are lots of sleep, eating, whinging, teething, etc phases. Its exhausting though  On a good note :hooray: on L crawling!!! Thats fantastic! Witht he work leave, I would ask if you can have your annual leave back as you would never have used that if you had known that your maternity leave was a max of 52weeks. If you have already been paid annual leave, then ask if at a later date you can take it as Leave without pay. Doesnt hurt to ask.
Shell- Hope the snotty nose goes away soon  That is great you are enjoying back at work and yay on the cleaner!!!
Jols- How is DD2? Hope the dimetapp is working.
Nai- We would have had to wait around until the 9:30pm session for the next movie to start and my friend who is pregnant was tired. :( I hope your tummy bug goes away. They are so awful to deal with.
Malyna- How awful about your friends DH  3 hour commute each way must be such a strain for his wife not to mention the stress of the whole thing as well. Hope all is going better with A at home for you and you are getting some rest.
Ellie- great that you could pop in. I meant to ask you and OP if you both joined a new Belly buddies group as well for your 2nd babies. Hope all is going well.
Heaven- Lets hope the one day sleep was a one off!!! :o
Kaz- I agree with yout mate who said it can be hard to tell on the computer the colour of his eyes as different quality in monitors/screens etc. but his eyes might still be changing colour. Sometimes DD's eyes can look so incredibly blue and then when we are out in a different environment they can throw off some green. I think it is a little reflective of the environment. He is so gorgeous though! You must be very proud of him.
Sorry to those who I have missed.
AFM- parents are staying tonight as they move into their new place tomorrow. I have to clean the house!! So dont feel like it. DD also refused a bf this morning, Fully turned her head away. I felt really rejected. I tried a bottle and she had that. Does that mean she is starting to wean? :( if she is. I dont mind her havign bottles but I wanted to at least keep the morning and evening feeds as bfs. We'll see what happens. Was also thinking about a gift for Milana and Tracey and thought maybe something to do with butterflies..a nice print or something like that. Tracey changed her name to baby butterfly so thats what gave me that idea. I'll keep thinking.
Have a good day everyone :)
Ali- OMG that is a huge sleep!!!!!!!
Holly- sorry to hear about your feeding problems. Is he picking up on your stress? I would just try to give him some food and then basically ignore him and leave him to it and try not to worry if he eats any at all, no pressure. But I know that would be really hard, it's so hard not to worry and try and make them eat more!! Is he teething? DD just got a tooth and she ate hardly anything for a few days. Re the work thing, it sounds the same to me, 52 weeks no matter what it's made up of itms.
shell- that's great to hear you're enjoying work!!
Malyna- aww... :fingerscrossed: that would be so hard for your friend!! And her DH of course!
Nai- hope you're feeling better soon.
Well! Great news here!! After being up all day, only one 45 min sleep in the morning she went to sleep at 7.30pm and SLEPT FOR 8 HRS STRAIGHT!!!! Omg, she has NEVER slept that long in her life!! Seriously. I am in shock! Feeling good today! Better enjoy it, probably won't happen again, lol.
Ah crap...thought so. Thanks for your replies. Wish I had read all that info before I gave in the letter   I feel soooooooo stoopid. I didn't even ask for an extention...it would be different if I had of asked but I actually wrote that those were my plans and that's what was happening etc...now it seems kind of rude and arrogant? And I'm so not like that! If I had an employee tell me they were just going take more leave, I would be peeved, I would want to be asked. Okay, now dreading the embarrassing phone call this week :shakehead: Ali, yeah I already got paid annual leave during the mat leave (I thought the mat leave would have stopped and then started again once the annual leave was finished), but you're right...I would have rather just taken the 52 weeks mat leave unpaid and then used my annual leave separately when the mat leave ran out. Grr can't believe I didn't work this all out before! Stupid pregnant brain I guess!
Re food, yeah I'm just going to keep offering and if he eats then great, if not, whatever... can't be bothered stressing about it anymore. He ate a few spoonfulls of cheese and veggie risotto and some garlic bread for dinner, then he had 3/4 of a nectarine (probably would have had the whole thing but I ate the rest lol), so yeah, tonight was pretty good. I noticed his seventh tooth (a bottom one) is cutting through as well.
Yes and my baby is now crawling!! Hasn't really mastered it yet but he is getting there. My beautiful boy :)
Nai, sounds like you've got a flexible manager. Hope you feel better soon
Shell, hope DD is well again soon. Poor little thing! Well I hope L is like you, and regains his appetite eventually lol.
Ali, how did the cleaning go? Wow at DD refusing a feed, is that a first? Will be a bit sad if she's over it and wants to wean, but it will be nice to have your body back that's for sure!
Heaven, yep he is teething, just discovered one today! I'm sure he's picking up on my stress :( I feel like such a bad mummy when I get cross with him. Glad that DD did a great sleep. Hope she has another one tonight!
Hi to everyone else! I need to make L's 12 month mchn appointment soon as you always have to make it a few weeks in advance. Looking forward to getting him weighed! I haven't had him weighed since his 8 month check.
Anyway, hope you all have a good night xox
heaven - wow on the sleep.
Holly - I'm glad the other girls were able to help with your request. the wording was confusing.
Nai - hope ur feeling better soon. Glad you were able to extend your mat leave. I was talking to a GF from Bulgaria who said they get three years mat leave - first is full pay, then 1/2 pay then wihtout pay but heck, much better than here.
Shell - hope snot city clears up soon for you
Shoot, forgot what everyone has written.. I'm ancient and my memory is going.. I keep saying to DH that it's really hard to be 21 (and of course he gives me that look of yeah right 21+18) but hey a girl's gotta try!
Went for a drive to "the gong" today, seven hours in the car, we are trying Alex for a roadtrip back to adelaide and that will be 15hrs - he did pretty well, I ended up in the back seat with him and he had a romp in the back of the falcon wagon, and played wiht the cargo barrier, while covering everything in watermelon, cheese and rice crackers.
ali that sleep is amazing! sorry yuou missed out on movie tickets :(
holly id just keep meal time very relaxed the more anxious you are the more anxious he will be. if he eats he eats if he doesnt he doesnt, he know how hungry he is, i know its hard as you dont want him going hungry but i assume he isnt. make it fun, maybe make a big deal when he does eat. does he eat with you??
sorry about the mat leave too
shell soooo what shopping you off to do today??
nai hows the tummy today? how did J go last night with sleep, did sshe go down ok in the end??
malyna ohhh i love the gong, been a few years since i was there last, do you have a dvd player for the car? id get one!!
heaven did G have one sleep again?? 8 hours straight is great!! pity you wouldnt have gottne 8 hours  tis alwys the way!
AFU M only had one sleep yesterday too as it was from 10.30-12 and she refused the arvo one, ive gone back to feeding during the night, last night it was at 10pm and 3am, so better than the nigth before of 3 times. our one tooth is about 3mm through the gum and man its sharpe, leaves a dent in my areola. she loves to click her tongue to us, and hand us stuff, i think she can say ta too!! loves to squeal  i dont like it.
Olive - Yep we are oging to get a DVD player for the car... Any recommendations? love the tongue clicking
Alex loves to blow raspberries - he usually does it with a mouthful of yoghurt, so whoever is feeding gets covered. I know i should not laugh but its so funny.
I should be at swimming classes but I'm over driving the 70km return trip there (I have to cross the territory)... I'll try locally next term (term 2) but I'm just over things at the moment.. I'm sure I'll get back into the swing of things soon.
:grouphug:
Malyna - That's a long way to go for swimming lessons. I'm also travelling about 70km each way for ours but my mum's group all go at the same time so there is social incentive there. Hope you pick up soon. Yay for A doing so well in the car. We're going away in a couple of weeks and I've been wondering how DS will go. He's still riding backwards too!
Olive - squealing is no fun. DS has been doing it for months, mainly when he's tired! He also likes to play the giving game and says ta or ta-ta-ta. Too cute!
Ali - bummer about the movies being sold out. That would drive me nuts. Did you do something else nice instead?
Shell - meant to reply to you earlier that the meet up was good. It was daunting walking in but was nice to meet so many BBers and put faces to names. The time flew by and I didn't even get to talk to everyone! Social things are so different with kids and I only have the one to watch and he doesn't even move yet and I still struggle LOL!
Kailani - that sucks about your leave, I agree with Malyna - the wording was confusing. RE: the food, DS has been doing this the past couple of weeks. He never ate heaps and now he seems to eat even less. I have varied his food a little bit. He will always eat cheese and yoghurt. We're in the process of changing his dinner (and possibly breakfast) routines so that he is eating with us cause he seems to eat more when we are too.
Who else was there?? Can't remember. Sorry  Hi to everyone though!
AFU - Better sleep last night finally! He went down at 8:30pm, fed at 1am and again at 5:30am and got up at 8am. I feel so much better for having had a 4 hour block in there. DS had a massive morning sleep of over 2 hours too today and I think he's gone down again now. About his eye colour - I think he's got dark blue eyes (or grey-blue), DP doesn't think they're blue but more of a dark hazel. My mum agrees with him. My eyes are hazel (more green than brown, some people would say they are green iykwim) and DPs are blue but do sometimes change to have brown in them. Anyone confused yet? LOL!
Have a great Australia Day tomorrow everyone!
Holly - my manager is fairly flexible - he has 4 daughters  but he realised they would have to pay me for my first day and I wouldn't be there as it would be a public holiday so that swayed him.
DP and I had a date day today with the girls in childcare which was lovely - we went to the movies and then out to lunch and drank too much. We cycled there and back - it was a perfect day. I think the last time we did that was almost 5 years ago.
Miss J has been screaming during the night for a few hours on end which has been tiring although last night was slightly better - thankfully! Her latest tricks are that she can now say "Hi" when she sees you - it's sooo cute. And her favourite toy is now a baby doll that she calls "Beybee" in a slightly french accent  She will crawl around and look for it when I ask where "Beybee" is.
Kaz - I know I'm being lazy re the distance, but I'm just exhausted with everything at the moment, so I'm just letting the things that bug me go and things will change, I'm sure.
Nai - your date day sounded fun.
AFM - keep your fingers xed for me, I've started to put out query letters to agents.
:grouphug:
blah.......
 olive what's the matter?
oh everything
Chin up Olive, we all love you!!
We are back got back last night, was great to get away but I have creted some bad habits with L who now likes to feed overnight like a newborn!!!
Lots to read and catch up on be back later once I've caught up...
Olive - sending you an uber big positive cyber hug hun.
:grouphug:
Pinny - welcome back :-D
pinny thats us as well!! that and diffecult to get to sleep during the day  actually wondering if shes wanting to drop a sleep :o not keen to find out til after this weekend, too much on !
thanks malyna!
kaz woohoo on the 4 hour block, how was last night??
nai how is J going??
AFU new tricks for the day, blinking on command, then promptly clapping! and fetching dolly, feels like im talking about a dog!
 Olive!
Welcome back Pinny
Malyna - good luck with the letters. How exciting!
Miss J (after 3 nights of screaming for hours in the middle of the night for no reason) actually slept 12 hours straight last night! Actually i heard her grizzle at 5.30 and she turned on her musical aquarium and put herself back to sleep :o I hope it's a new trend but I'm not counting on it.
hey girls
still here
but had a big few days
DD severly broke her elbow!! so after 3 days and two nights in hossy and a couple of pins being put in- she is finally home!!
DH had to stay in hossy with her as i am still feeding boof- it was the first time i havent been there for my kids when they were sick or for their operations- it was soo hard staying at home whilst the ambulance took her away!
i was a really nasty break and because of that she was seen and operated on straight away- she had no pulse in her hand until they put it back in place and pinned in together again-plus it was an interesting case for the surgeons so she had heaps of docs in on her op .
she is very sore still and still on heaps of meds- but getting there slowly!
boof and DS1 have been awesome esp being in a cubical for 10 hours yesterday. But man i am spent
boof still hasnt slept a full night here- ah well it will happen one day!
sorry for a selfish one - but been pretty full on here
got boofs first birthday get together on sat nite!! Can believe he will be one in a week!!!!
this time last year i had spent australia day in hossy having monitoring as i was in sporious labour!! Time flies when you are having fun!!!!
take care girls
det im glad DD is home, what a way to end the holidays!!
how long is she in plaster for??
nai very clever of J!! woooot on 12 hours!
AFU im not sure if maybe DD's sudden (past month or so) new habit of fallen asleep on the boob at feed before bed may have something to do with her night waking  she seems to wake and not be able to resettle without boob to make her drowsy again  wont be allowing the falling asleep stuff tonight, as lovely as it is!
Det, so sorry to hear about DD! Poor thing  Hope it heals up nice and quick. Have a great time for boof's birthday!
Malyna, good luck with the letters. My fingers are crossed for you. Lol at the blowing rasberries with food in mouth. L does that too and it is sooo gross!
Olive, M is a very clever girl, all those new tricks! Good luck with breaking the feeding/sleeping habit - L does that too.
Kaz, glad you got a decent block of sleep the other night. Hope it continues!
Nai, woohoo on the sleep! Hope she doesn't go back to the screaming phase! Sounds like a lovely date you and DP had the other day. Your manager seems very accommodating - it's so much handier when they have children of their own (helps even more if their kids are hard work, not that I wish that upon anyone!)
Pinny, glad you had a good trip. Good luck to you too with breaking the feeding habit!
Hi to everyone else!
AFU...well I'm taking the plunge and RESIGNING FROM WORK!!! Yep, spoke to my manager, told her it wasn't going to work out. I'm just really not ready to go back and it would create far too much stress than the money is worth. She is going to get back to me on if i can extend my leave, but I doubt it and she knows I will probably be resigning. I just have to get the letter in asap. Phew, it is such a relief. Not looking forward to job hunting in the future though...cross that bridge when I get to it
Gtg, L is awake and I can hear him straining, creating a parcel in his pants for me lol.
Kailani- I bet it is a big relief to not have to go back, I felt the same and that's why I extended my leave...I'm already dreading that in September!!!
Nai- Sounds like you had a lovely day with DH, I need to do more thimgs like that I feel like I almost put him last these days:shakehead:
Malyna- How are you going??? Did you speak to your MCHN?
Kaz- Not sure on the eye color, i tend towards more hazel, but might just be the photo...
Heaven- Any more 8 hour blocks??? We got 7 hours last night!!!
Hi to everybody else!!!
L is really starting to get vocal, lots of new sounds happening here!!! ANd loves to copy us too, loving this age!! Too cute.
holly wooohooo on resigning!! can you find some casual work??
pinny 7 hours is awesome!
