H iall,
A quick drop in. I am reading the posts, but not really posting much anywhere at the moment.
Holly - I am pleased for oyu. I did the same thing when I had James. I resigned. I found a job fairly easily when I was ready though. Second time around I have been working for a while now, but as DH is a sift worker it is not like leaving them in care.
Nai - I am pleased that you got some sleep!!
Olive - I hope you are ok. You seem quite stressed lately.
Malayna - I too hope you are ok aswell.
Ali - Cute pics on facebook!
Shell - I notivced on FB that DH is back at work. The hols go so fast don't they?
Det - I saw on FB that ayour little girl had broken her arm. Poor little thing. How did she do it?
I hope our preggy mums are doing well.
Not much here. James had his kinder orientation (he got a late offer, so got in!!) That went well. Just hanging at home today. Activities start again next week, so playgroup will be back as well as swimming. Yay as J gets so bored!
-
Det - hope the arm heals quickly.
Holly - woohoo on resigning, hard decision. You will find work down the track, when you are ready for it (or it will find you).
Haven't spoke to the MCHN, but have spoken to a heap of experienced mothers who have said "Oh phooey" to what I was told - SIL bub (who is off the growth charts) went for a few months without gaining weight, but gained in length, another one told me that her daughter was just petite (which is better for a girl but not so good for a boy, unless Alex wants to be a jockey). I'm just going to let Alex be Alex and unless he shows signs of illness, I'm not going to worry about it... He will be who he will be.
Plus A got his two top teeth through, so we have been going through the yoghurt (the only thing he will eat with sore mouth).
Alex is using my toothbrush on a box of clean nappies.. sigh.. he figured out how to open the drawers and the doors in the bathroom cabinet, so everything non baby friendly is out of his reach (for the moment).
-
meg so glad DS got a place in kinder!! what a relief!!
malyna DD is into opening drawers too  drives me insane!! shes into everything!
well my plan of not feeding DD to sleep backfired, she woke after 30 mins :o took me 90 mins to resettle, in the end with boob :( and we had a good day with sleeps too, just dont know where i go wrong
-
I hear you Olive! I have no idea what is going on here at the moment...and omg I am soooooo tired...sleeping whenever A closes her eyes...day or night...sorry for no personals...reading and keeping up but then retaining nothing...I'm stuffed...please please sleep tomight :)
-
Happy Birthday Kailani!!!!!:happybirthday: Hope you have a fantastic day!!!!
-
Happy birthday Kailani!! you spring chicken!! make the rest of us feed old!!
pinny eeeeeeekkkkkkkkkk only 3 weeks to go :o
-
Happy Birthday Holly!! I hope you get spoilt today. And yay on resigning too - it must be a huge relief. I would resign if I could afford to....
Det - I hope the arm heals quickly. What a story for her to go back to school with!
Malyna - I hope A's teeth don't bother him too much! FWIW I just weighed Miss J and she was just over 9kg. At her 8m check she was 8.8kg so she has really not put on any weight in the last few months in spite of eating like a horse! I think that she has really slimmed down since she has been moving. I have noticed that tops that were tight on her belly are now looser. She is still in size 0 and is now outgrowing them in length rather then width
Meg - yay for getting a kinder spot - you must be relieved!
Olive - In 3 weeks I will have a 4 yo and a 1yo :( Our babies are growing up.
AFU - Miss J seems to have turned a corner with her sleep. She is now sleeping through most nights and actually wakes up happy in the morning which is making me less stressed about work next week. She has her "baybee" in bed with her and she pats him to sleep when she goes down. I am pushing her out to one sleep a day now. She seems to do a good 2 hours when I put her down int he middle of the day and then have 11-12 hours overnight. So that seems to be the way to go.
-
Hey guys!
lilima- Great that J got into kinder! Will give you a break!
Malyna- DD is always into the drawers in the kitchen too! PITA!! Can't keep her out of them! She's jammed her fingers a few times too but I've decided to stop trying to save her from getting them hurt in there. Feels mean but seriously I can't be there all the time moving her and she has to learn!! So I think she's got the idea now and isn't getting her fingers stuck anymore. Just have freezer bags all over the house, lol.
olive- you're not doing anything wrong!! Or else maybe I am too? lol. Bad night here last night too, maybe another tooth coming. Had 3 teeth in the last 2 weeks! Waiting on one more.
ellie- get some rest
Holly- Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nai- wow, that's awesome with the sleep! So jealous!! How'd you do it?? And have you got her to self settle too? OMG tell me how!! lol.
Hi Ali, Pinny, det, and everyone else!!!!
Well today DD is definitely into practicing her walking. She's just letting go and walking and not even to me anymore! I put a video up on FB. She was just walking along drinking from her sippy cup at the same time! pmsl.
-
Heaven - wow on the walking! I have heard that babies sleep worse when they start walking :dunno: but we just did the Dr Jay Gordon method and stuck with it.
Miss J went backwards last week but we just went back to the program and she seems to be through it now. She does self-settle but she has a baby doll in bed with her and a musical aquarium in the cot that she can press and it plays music. She will often press it to play music to send herself off to sleep and she presses it when she wakes up so I know she's awake when i hear music over the baby monitor
-
hmm...maybe I need to get one of those musical things, lol. Maybe something she would lay down and watch, just to get her to be still enough to get sleepy!! I thought J didn't self settle before though, have you recently been able to teach her to? That gives me hope! lol
-
No she wasn't self-settling before. It is a new thing and it just happened. I think the not feeding to sleep and then saying goodnight to her has helped. She has a little cry but it's just a grizzle and then she stops. I am amazed as I didn't think she would ever do it!
-
That's great!! We're going to try night weaning soon. Prob when the winter Olympics are on in case we're up all night then there's something to watch, pmsl. I hope it works that well for us!
-
Hi girls,
Det - So glad your DD is on the mend. Must have been horrible not to be there for her the whole time.
Meg - Great that you got a spot for J!
Malyna - Hun I don't think you're lazy at all! Far from it - hope I didn't give you that impression from my post. DS only put on 30g between 7-8 months but he did grow a little in length. If A is moving heaps that's where the energy is going.
Olive - I hope M is sleeping longer for you soon. I am still feeding J to sleep overnight and sometimes in the evenings. He has started falling asleep on the boob too once or twice lately which is strange cause he hardly ever did it when he was a newborn even.
Heaven - Your DD is so cool!! I can't believe she is walking already. DS isn't even crawling yet!! :o
Kailani - Happy Birthday hun!! Hope you have a great day and got a good nights sleep last night. And :hooray: on resigning. That's so cool. I am very jealous!
Ali - How are you going hun? Haven't seen you round much in BB. Hope the return to work this week went ok.
Pinny - Glad you had a good time away.
Nai - Yay on 12 hours! I hope it is the start of a new (long term) routine but I know you can't get your hopes up.
AFU - DS slept a 7 hour stretch the night before last. Its the longest he's done for over 2 months. Of course, I waited up for a while expecting him to wake but I still got a couple of 3.5 hour blocks of sleep. Last night was back to the usual but that's ok. It's looking like I might need to put him into long day care earlier than I wanted to in order to secure the days I want for when I return to work. I'm not going back for a couple of months but if they get others wanting the days before then we'll need to make some deicsions! I didn't want to put him in before he was 12 months old. There's also the cost to think about too. On the other hand, the thought of being able to put him in care and have some time to myself (to sleep probably!!!) before I go back to work is really tempting too  Aside from DP every now and then, I've only ever left him with my parents once for 3 hours.
-
Happy birthday Holly!!
Nai - Alex still fits into 00.. Woot on the self settling.
heaven - way to go with the walking - walking and drinking at the same time.. now that's skilled.
Kaz - didnt' take any offence about anything.. I do remember things, I just sometimes don't remember them in a timely manner. I haven't forgotton to send the fabric, but Mr clingy has been drivign me insane and I've got to sort though a bag, then get organised to get to the PO.. but I'm getting closer. I might see if I can do it tonight.. DH is trying to settle Alex and I can't go out or be seen by alex (covert ops moves are needed to move around the house)
I'm going to be offline from the 30th to the 3rd at the sleep clinic thingie, so hopefully, I can get Alex to get over his cot phobia. I'm trying to lure him in with naughty things like mobile phones (he loves mine0 but he just screams when he gets put in the cot and looks at it as though it is a monster.
-
Just popping in to say hi and THANK YOU lovely ladies for the birthday wishes!! :D I feel so loved hehee!! I handed in my resignation letter today - boy is that a huge weight off my shoulders.
Hope you all have a good night. I'll be back for personals tomorrow xox
-
Malyna - you're doing better than me mate! I'd completely forgotten about that fabric  So there's obviously no hurry - wait until you're back from sleep clinic. I really hope you get A past the cot phobia and into a good pattern of sleep. You so deserve it!
Kailani - :hooray: on resigning. I am SO jealous!
AFM - had a great night out with the girls last night. First time I've left DS and been out at night since he was born. Hardly gave him a thought. Geez he made me (and DH) pay for it though - well, that's how it feels. Now I'm scared about going back to work and putting him in care. Started another thread about it cause I have no idea what to do. It's in the infant led b'feeding section (I think!) if you're interested.
-
Hi all, been very busy here, been keeping up with everyone just not had time to post.
Kaz- Glad you had great night out, I read yr other thread not sure on that one, maybe being night made it harder for him? I guess tho if you have to go to work you don't want to be getting up every 2 hours. I hope you get some good advice from there.
And if you do need to put him into care earlier than you wanted you could drop him off later and pick him up earlier than you normally would and get him used to it.
Holly- When were you having your birthday night out? Hope you had great day. Do you think you will return to work in near future in different job or concentrate totally on study?
malyna- Hope the sleep clinic works out well for you. I know you need some solution so I hope you gain some great advice.
Meg- its great you got J into kindy, i didn't bother applying cause I thought I'd put Ash a day at CC instead, now I wish I had cause still can't get into CC!
Olive- how is sleep going there? Any improvement?
Nai- yay on the self settling, she keeping it up?
Ellie- Over half way now, can imagine you must be exhausted!
Det- how is DD? I was keeoing up on FB with it all, what a drama! Poor little thing. She is toughy! Has her pain settled? How she going with sleeping with it?
I spent last night going thru the toy room and collecting all the baby toys to give away, got all teary cause thats it, in another month Emily will no longer be a baby but a toddler and means no more babies in the house.
On upside toy room looking heaps better!
Busy now that term has started cause means all activities are back on, Ash starting tinytots ballet on mon she is so excited, already practicing her dancing, lol.
work busy too, knew a full moon was coming cause they were all crazy!
-
hi lovelies!!
sorry havent read anything yet, had a huge weekend starting with my sisters secret family wedding on friday arvo inwhich i was bridesmaid, followed by her engagement party/surprise we got married party last night, were all exhausted, was also the first and last time we take the girls to a wedding, was hard work, especially when its away from home!
hope everyone is well!
bbl...
-
Hey how was the wedding??? Can't wait to see photos
-
was really good hun! was lovely and intimite, dinner was awesome too!!
i'll email you some pics in the morning, comp. slow due to using all data allowance for the month, new month tomorro so wil be quicker!!
hope to catch with you on tuesday??
-
Olive, wow a secret/suprise wedding! Did your parents know???
Heaven, woohoo on the walking! What a clever little girl!
Nai, that's too cute - DD pressing the music and drifting back to sleep!
Malyna, good luck at the sleep clinic. Hope it works a treat and you get some great advice and helpful settling techniques.
Shell, I went out for dinner last night for my birthday. It was a great night out!! It was just nice to catch up with my close friends/family, eat delicious food and have a glass of champagne! Poor L though, he had 2 green runny/liquidy poos today, I feel so irresponsible  Re work...nope I am not going back at all in the near future. I will be finished my degree in 3 years and then plan on TTC #2, then doing post grad...so looks like I won't be working for ages! Woohoo!
Kaz, I'm going to check out your thread. It was a really hard decision initially to resign from work, but then I thought I'd call centrelink and see what would happen to our payments once I started earning $$ (DP is an apprentice so we get youth allowance + parenting payment coz of low income). Turns out with the money I earn from working 2 days a week, it would cancel out most of the centrelink payments and we would only profit $50 a week from me working :o I was like omg no way am I going back for only $50 a week more than what I'm getting now. I don't want to be a welfare scab but I'd much rather concentrate on my studies, be there for my baby, and contribute/give back to society in a few years time. The getting organised, the traveling time, the buying lunch, the stress of work + leaving L, is just not worth $50 for 2 days work to me, I don't mean to offend anyone. But yeah, that made my decision so much easier!
Hi to everyone else!
Well that's all from me. My cousin bought me the sims 3 and I'm addicted! Should really try and get some sleep but would rather play the sims  Talk soon! xox
-
Olive - love the surprise wedding.
Kaz - I'll find ur post and read it. I'm kinda sorta back on deck and I'll get that stuff to you in the next week or so.
Hi to everyone. :grouphug:
I'm back early... it's a really long story, but we left on day 3 of a five day program. Let me just say that everyoen there agreed to be consistent but the advice given was not.
I can't remember what the technique was called, but the first night we did a bit of responsive crying, so listening to Alex crying and then going into him. For a baby who isn't a crier, it was heartbreaking. I fell asleep on a chair because I was so exhausted and let DH do the settling.
The second day I was told about another technique, where you leave your hand in the cot and the bubs can go to your hand, but you do not give them eye contact. Alex was supposed to be calm but instead screamed the entire 45 minutes, at which point I gave up and put him back on the breast and fed him to sleep.
The second night, I tried to settle him but ended up walking out, and sitting outside after the first fifteen minutes and left DH to settle him.
Anyway cut the story short, I had a PTSD trigger (seeing Alex screaming and pulling at my top) and now I'm off to see a pyschlogist etc and fighting against going on antidepressants. I can't stand to watch Alex scream and clutch at me and DH is only able to barely tolerate watching Alex scream. They said that it can take three weeks to settle him this way.
So keep your fingers crossed for us. I'm prob not going to post for awhile, but I'll pop in and read how ur going.
And Can I just say that my DH is absoutely amazing and he deserves the father of the year award. I moan and complain about him and his lack of household duties, but when it comes down to it, he is the most beautiful soul I know.
Happy 01022010 (the date backwards)
-
holly sounds like staying at home is certainly the best thing you can do!! its certainly not worth it for a few extra bucks!!
glad you had a lovely night out for yur birthday!!!
malyna  hun, that must have been very hard, so are you going to continue with the technique they recommended?? sounds like DH came through when you needed him.
AFU m is cutting tooth number 2
-
Dh is going to continue the method.. i can't cope seeing Alex crying so I'll settle him as best I can during the day (and I really have no idea how to do it apart from put him on the breast), until i get some professional help. The cousellor I saw said that she has had a lot of women who have gone through IVF showing signs of stress and combined with PTSD and an emergency C-section (which I found really traumatic) it's all got on top of me. just taking one hour/day at a time and that is all I can do.
-
Holly - sounds like your birthday was lovely
Olive - yay on tooth #2
Malyna - I hope things settle down for you soon with Alex's sleeping. I hope that your DH can get him to settle and at least take some of that pressure off you.
AFM - Well I am now sitting in my office at work - maternity leave officially over *sob* I'm sure I'll get used to it but it feels really weird. I am missing my girls and missing being at home. The day is going really slowly.
-
Hi girls,
Sorry I have been a bit MIA.
Hectic week/weekend.
Firstly a BIG :happybirthday: to LEVI!!!!! One today!!! I cant believe how quickly the time has passed. I loved your Ollie cake Levi!!!!
Back at work and this time of year is full on!!! I am teaching year 2 this year and I have quite a difficult class. I am teaching the little girl with down syndrme againa nd the boy with ODD, ADD and asperges and I have about 4 others that are really slow and are going to need support and individual learning programs.
DD started CC today. It was a really strange feeling. She was fine but only had one sleep that was an hour and a half. Not much for her. She didnt cry and was fine and I rang a few times during the day and they were lovely but I still felt a bit sad. She is going again tomorrow so hopefully she will be okay.
:grouphug: to all. I am working again tomorrow (3 days this week) and then I will be able to catch up properly on everything :)
-
Kailani - I wouldn't be going to work for only $50 for two days either hun. Sounds like you'll have a full time study load anyway. That, plus L plus the rest of your life is enough!
Malyna -   I'm sorry sleep school was such a ****e experience for you. Take care of yourself. xo
Nai - I can't imagine being back at work. It must have been weird. I was hoping the day would go really quickly for you too :(
Olive - That didn't take M long!! I am sure it was only a couple of weeks ago she was toothless! Now DS is the slow coach with only one tooth half way up!!
Shell - I feel sad for you too hun packing up baby toys. There'll be grandkids one day (a long way off I know!).
Ali - I'm glad DD had a good day at childcare. She looked so cute with her little backpack on (FB)
Det - Happy birthday to boof!! Can't believe it's been a year since we were all stalking the belly buddies thread to see who would go first! Hope you had a fantastic day with him. He's growing up so fast.
AFU - Not much to report. Sleep is still ordinary - woke 2 hourly for most of last night until 4am. Is anyone else's bub still not crawling? Or are they all crawling/commando crawling by now? DS is taking his time......
-
thanks for the wishes ali
sob sob cant believe my little man is one today!!!!
-
det i hope Levi had a great day!!!
BBL... someone whinging!
-
Det - I hope Levi had a great day! I can't believe he is one!!
Ali - I'm glad A had a good day at CC. She seems like such a social little girl that I'm sure she will love it. Miss J really enjoys going and loves playing with all the other babies.
BBL - grizzling baby!
-
nai how did your first day end up going??
aarrrhhhhh the whinging
ETA oohhh bad night last night, was up around 5 times :o
-
Just a quick fly by to say happy birthday boof for yesterday! It's sad our babies are becoming toddlers! I saw the pics on fb looked like he had great party, loved the cake.
I'm off to work again soon. On upside we have had mostly sleep thru nights the last week (touch wood).
-
im sad too shell :( this time last year i was 37w6d pregnant :( arrhhhh i miss it!
we stopped giving M panadol/dimezine monday night and last night was a shocker, either the fluid is still there or its her teeth, Dr said to do it for one week, two if needed so might give it to her again tonight and see what happens, back to the dr on monday
S starts kinder tomorrow :( :) cant wait but sad all the same!
got to see Pinny yesterday!
-
Olive - yay on all the teeth!
I took G to ballet this morning and Miss J decided she wanted to join in - it was so cute
Baby Ballet - Vox
-
Happy Birthday Levi for the other day!! The first one to turn 1!!! Yay
Malyna- I don't have any advice but just wanted to give you a big hug, I've been thinking of you all day, glad Dh is there for you.
Nai- that baby ballet was just gorgeous!!! She is a real doll!
Olive- I feel you, I'm feeling quite sad about it, life is going way to quickly;y for me at the moment!! But I'm taking it all in and enjoying the ride, Yay on the third tooth, which one???
Wishing Sophie a great day at kinder... loved catching up.
Ali- Sounds like a full on class do you have teacher aids? Glad DD like CC, looked so cute with her back pack
Shell- I'm not sure what to do with the baby toys, still not sure but more than likely we won't have anymore as much as that makes me so sad to say that!!! Woo hoo on the sleeping thru!!
Hi to everyone else...
AFU we have our first bruise to the head!!! Poor littlw man, bumped on the coffee table, but he is ok!! Not a lot to report but I'm feeling weird about L turning one! I've been reading my birth story lately and the pregnancy diary that I wrote... makes it really feel like only the other day! I loving this stage but I'm also missing that newborn cuddles!!!
-
Happy birthday Levi. One wow where has the year gone?
Ali - sounds like you have a full load.
Olive - hope its teeth
Nai - J is just too cute for words - she is so clever and that coordination... wow!

Pinny- hard to believe a year has gone by.
Thanks for the support :grouphug:
-

missy has already woken once already  i really should go to bed now!
oh i had some of DD1's knicker out yesterday DD2 grabbed them and sort of knew what to do with them, was trying to put them on her feet, like you would when putting them on, does the same with socks :o
-
ok so whats everyone getting bubs for their birthday?? need ideas!
-
Hello everyone!!
DH had a 4 day weekend so haven't been on. Been busy! Went to a first b'day party (Shanti's DD), and yesterday went out to meet some of the Brissy BB mums. Fun!! We don't see other bubs much. DD was shy at the b'day party but yesterday wasn't as shy. She's very interested in other babies. Walking all the time now! My little baby is all grown up :(
Sleep still not real good but I won't even bother talking about it anymore, it's always bad! lol. Is everyone's bubs still having 2 sleeps a day? Or just 1??
Olive, I don't know what to get either!! All I know is we're going to get her one of the little kids sofa's coz she doesn't have one yet. Don't even know what we're doing for her b'day!!
-
heaven re sleep/feeding issues ive just decided to go with the flow though i know comments have started and will continue re these issues..sigh...!
we have one of those sofas, first DD1 wee'd on it when TT then DD2 spilt my beer on it last week! might be time for a new one!
