Op- those first couple months I did struggle with 2, think that's what's turned me off having more! But at the time Fil was sick and Df was going out alot more so I felt on my own. Tv was great, think we watched a heap of it, my hug a bub was handy if E was unsettled and I needed to do things. Just going out for a walk made a huge difference on my mental state, kids were settled and it got me out of the house. I found being stuck inside drove me nuts cause I'd look at everything that needed to be done and feel so overwhelmed. Just take one day at a time, do what u need to. If u can fit in one job a day do that then things won't feel so on top of you.
I'm still here, I generally read the happenings here most days on the iPhone while I'm BF little X-man (as we have started calling him!) but replying is a bit of a PITA!
But I'm here. This morning I woke up to an alternate universe where X had fed at 9.30 and 2.30, when DH left for work it was all quiet in DD's bedroom and X was still zzzzz... DD slept til 7.15 and X til 8.15
Pretty good. Keep telling myself he is still little little little (one week tomorrow!!) and I know things could and probably will get a whole lot worse, but hey, I'm enjoying it for now.
How you doing love? How's J?? Sleep? No sleep? Lol...
Olive - saw on fb about Millie, hope she is ok hun.
Thanks to DET I've had a few great days...getting organised at night for the following day makes a huge difference...even got out of the house on my own with both cherubs for the first time...felt like super mum...sad I know...but a huge achievement for me. Bub only waking once a night for a feed so feeling really lucky to be getting some sleep...DD1 teeting and not so happy but getting through....off for some more sleep...stuffed...big hi to everyone xxx
Olive- How did the Drs go? Is the rash just viral, nothing more?
Ellie- thats great to hear things are going well. Even some days here still it takes alot to get out of the house, Df doesn't seem to realise this tho he decieds lets go somewhere and expects to leave in a couple mins!
OP- ooh hope that all continues! I used to do that all the time with my phone, still do in the day when I'm having a coffee, but yeah is a pita trying to reply!
Det- I was so happy to see on FB when you got your dog back. Bet she's staying close to home now!
Kaz- How everything going with J? Sleep issues improving?
My mum babysits the girls each week when I work and she says she notices in just week huge changes, I think Em is, she has been way more chatty, trying to have conversations, more involved in things, must be developmental spurt or something.
Eating slightly improving, still not a vegie eater tho!
OP & Ellie - how are you going with your 2 new bundles? It is such a busy time and the days just fly by when you are running after 2 kids. I hope you are managing to get some rest in there as well.
Olive - how is Millie? Is she all better? It was great to see you on Saturday - I felt soooo ill afterwards. I ate too much
Kaz - how is the sleeping going?
Malyna - how are you going with your book? Has A's sleeps improved?
Det - how lucky to get your dog back! You must be rapt.
Lilima - I am so jealous of your kid-free weekend away!! Must remind DP my birthday is coming up in December
Shell, Ali, Pinny-mum - I hope you are going well. I'm sure I've missed others.
AFU - Miss J is developing at a rapid rate. Her favourite words at the moment are "more" and "apple" - she wants more of everything especially food and all food at the moment is called "apple". This morning I asked if she was hungry and she nodded so I asked if she wanted cornflake - shook head "no", asked if she wanted Cheerios - shook head and said "o's", asked if she wanted rice bubbles and she nodded. Then proceeded to eat a whole bowl of rice bubbles with a spoon all by herself! She has been asking to sit on the potty too so every night before her bath she sits on it naked and says "weeeee" This has resulted in 3 wees in the potty and a poo on the floor (she got up and did a happy dance when she had done a wee in the potty - she clearly hadn't finished )
That's fantastic about J with doing wees in the potty! Miss I always does a wee on the floor somewhere straight after her bath So I keep telling DH to put her on the potty, but nothing yet. I am hanging to get her out of nappies... we are currently washing two loads of nappies every day and a half roughly... like if we let it go two full days then the buckets are way too full, but every day is too frequently... anyway point being I am spending far too much time in the laundry!
I know not to push it, but I am excited that she seems to be becoming more aware of wee and poo. Hoping it won't be much longer before we have some action in the potty!
As for little X - he is going very well, we're well and truly out of 4x0 clothes and into 3x0. We've moved the car seat straps once and have to do it again - he is just so big! He's a very quiet soul, so different to Miss I! She's an energizer bunny who terrorizes the other kidlets at playgroup (except for Boof - the two of them beat each other up ) so it is nice to have a change with little X. He is very content to just be.
I'm sure it'll all change - but at the moment I am really starting to enjoy it all.
Hoi People - Well as some of you know, I have just got back from an amazing kid free weekend to Sydney. All a surprise by my DH. Was awesome and the weather was lovely. All good, but when we arrived home last night, both kids were vommitting. DH was quite concerned about J, so he took him ot the doctors and it looks like he might be an asthmatic.
I am having a lot of trouble with the computer tinight, so will post again tomorrow.
Meg- Is J ok now? Has he got ventolin for in case? Weekend surprise sounded fantastic, I was telling DF and asking what he is gonna plan for me lol. Pressure is on now!
OP- 2 in nappies drove me nuts, lucky I only had for a short time as Ash was nearly 2.5 when Em was born. Sounds like things are going well there.
Nai- she's a clever girl, Emily's idea of using a spoon is to scoop food out onto the table and play in it. I think J needs to give her eating lessons.
I'm finding this age so tiring! lol. In to everything and anything!
Malyna - Have you got someone IRL you can talk to hun? Thinking of you and sending sleepy vibes Alex's way xx
OP - Great to hear you are enjoying it and things are managable. X-man sounds very cruisey!
Nai - at the outcome of the happy dance! We've had poo land on the bathroom floor too but there was no potty in sight! I've just started showing DS where his poo actually goes after I change the nappy and he is helping to flush the toilet. I ask if he has done a poo (when I think he has) but he has a tendency to say yes regardless of the question atm so he's not always accurate. DD2 sounds very clever.
Ellie - Good to hear you are getting some sleep. One wake up a night sounds fantastic! And yay for getting out of the house. I still remember the first time I did that independently with only one child to organise.
Shell - DS does the same thing when he gets a spoon! Onto his tray and mush it around everywhere.
olive: hun. Hope your day improves.
Meg - Yay on your weekend away. What a lovely surprise. Vomit is no fun though. We had it from DS last night too. Ick!
to everyone else!
AFU - Can't remember what was going on the last time I posted. Still no major improvement with sleep. There's flu, or teeth or (like last night) vomiting that always seems to get in the way. The other night we only had 2 wake ups and it was great! We're off to sleep school next month. I'm feeling ok about it but not getting my hopes up. Will be good to get opinions of others who see sleep difficulties all the time. During the admission booking interview the lady started talking about how some kids just need less sleep and will continue to wake regardless so I think they're already planting the seed that they might not be able to do much. DS also getting smarter by the day - he'll be smarter than me soon lol!! Favourite word is 'uh-oh' and says it everytime something is dropped. Is very into making his own decisions too (food, drink, play, day sleeps etc).
Kaz - Love Mr J - he's a yes man!! Thanks for the kind words.... I don't talk to anyone IRL - I have spoken to my GP, who is absolutely lovely. I'm doing everything I can, except go on meds. it ain't the first time I've ridden this horse. I'm so stubborn and independant that I willovercome it, grow stronger and move on.
I know I'm going to forget things but will do my best...
Malyna - hope you can find someone to talk to soon Hun. You shouldn't be suffering on your own. Thanks for the congrats
Kaz - for you too hun, good luck with sleep school. Really hope it can provide some answers or different techniques for you to try.
Shell - I think miss J needs to give all our kids lessons on eating - Miss I sounds similar to Miss E! I'm finding this age tiring too... I keep telling people that DD is giving us more trouble than the baby!
Olive - how you doing darl?? I will try and get some photos on fb soon!!
Nai - very cute pic of J with her pigtails. I need to try and so something with I's hair, she has such a long fringe it's getting in her eyes all the time!
Yep and now I have forgotten what else...
Hi to all!
AFU: we are travelling well, DS has started to have more awake time but still sleeps well once he is finally asleep... DD is the one who is causing us stress, as I said above! She just pushes every possible boundary - she knows certain things are not allowed but does them anyway. We've started having tantrums when she doesn't get her own way, with real tears and screaming. So frustrating!
What can I try to discipline her? When she does something she knows is wrong, what can I do as punishment?? I take her toys away if she is misusing then, put them somewhere she can see but not reach, tell her why she has lost the toy. But when it is something like hitting me or her brother, what can I try??
Just wrote a long post and the purple reply button ate it!!! Why does it have to be so prominent!!!!! Arrrrrrhhh!
The main things was
OP- I am at wits end too and now even more so that I lost my post but we are in a worl of ignore everything mummy says and chuck a tantrum when she loses it. I wrote heaps more but bascially we have tried EVERYTHING!!! I dont know what to do but I dont want her to turn into a naughty girl.
Miss E chucks tanties too, but I just ignore her,. Sometimes she follows me around and throws herself on the floor in front of me, then I walk off, her following me, and throws herself on the floor in front of me again!
I just don't have time to cter to her tanties, and I think being the second, I am used to it.
Her eating has improved this week, but who knows what next week will bring. I find that I jjust cut her food up, give her a fork and she feeds herself. She does a really good job actually.
Her fave thing at the moment is when we stop at the traffic lights, she starts saying "go - stop!!"
I ignore tanties too, I just go on and do something else. Emily is funny tho she usually gets over something very fast, goes from screaming to laughing in seconds, Ashleigh on the other hand her bad moods and cracking it can go on and on.
Ali, hopefully she will just grow out of it, I think at this age its more about frustration than being naughty? Just cause they can't communicate so easily what they want and they don't know their limitations on what they can do. Doesn't make it any easier tho does it!
OP- when Ash got rough with Emily after she was born, I used to always take her hand and show her gentle and say it over to sort teach her. Emily is at a stage of hitting us now she even says "ow ow" while she is doing it but I say "no" firmly than do the gentle thing.
Malyna- I hope things look up for you, its good you have a supportive GP. I'm glad you've got your writing too to help you along.
Kaz- Good luck with the sleep school. You never know you may get some good tips out of it.
Emily has been making us laugh, more and more the personality is coming thru and the 2 girls start playing together alot more.
