Nai- thats good things are going along nicely. THe gym thing sounds good. I wont let myself join a gym as I waste to much money by not going. I do have a prper treadmill sitting in my lounge room right in front of me but I just look at it all day. No joke it is right in front of me about 3m away! I have been on it for a total of 30sec! I do go out walking the pram everyday though. Shell- These DP's need a lesson from Heavens hubby I think! DP said to me as much as he loves Ashlyn now he cant wait until she is on the move and can do more stuff with him (which I can kind of understand). He did bath her last night though and he was amazed at how much she enjoyed it. Heaven- Your DH sounds like he is a gem!! Ashlyn;s sleep is still all over the place as well. Last night she went down at about 10pm in her bassinette and didnt wake up until 4am (that is rare) the night before that was shocking and who knows tonight. She is asleep in her bouncer and has been since 8pm. I dont want to move her seeming I am still up and I could risk waking her up if she is moved. Ellie- Good to know that you are still around even if it is lurking, thats okay. Megie- We made up the way grown ups do but thats a whole nudda thread!!! Thanks for asking. Kaz- I have noticed at some feeds Ashlyn does that screaming thing, esp if I am not paying attention. You are doing a great job hun. My dogs are going great, poor Max has a shocking haircut after last Sunday but it is growing, they are so good around Ashlyn but very neglected in regards to walks. They havent been for 2wks!!! They do play and run around with each other in the backyard with the ball and get plenty of cuddles. I have noticed that Ashlyn watcheds them more and more now and they are good at entertaining her when she is in her bouncer. How is your dog going? Tarkine- It is good to just tell them how it is sometimes, then they cant get it wrong. Jols- what bottle did you get? Glad it helped and Millie will take it now. Laura- I am glad that little Bella hasnt had anymore fits. What a stress for you. Hope you have had a good week.
AFM-Taking Ashlyn to get her vax tomorrow. I decided I am going to do it. Its such a hard decision but the pros for me outway the cons. Just a question for those who have already vaccinated their children, did you give them panadol jsut before the injection or afterwards? Also if I put Ashlyn on the boob during it, will it ease the pain for her? (I remember doing this in hossy fo the heel ***** test and she didnt cry). Just wanting your thoughts. Hope you all had good weekends
hey all
just a quickie as its 2am! LOL
home from a fantastic weekend
my nan was so stoked- said its the best thing someone has ever done for her- really put the pep back in her step- she went crazy at Levi and was soo surprised!! When i got there she wasnt home to start with- her water aerobics class started an hour later for the first time this week doh- so i went to the shops for an hour and when i got back to their house they had only been home for 15 mins so it worked out great! Drove into her drive way bipping the horn and could hear her going crazy when she realised it was me!
it was awesome - have always wanted to surprise her with a visit- and i finally did it! So glad that she met Levi as she was suppose to be down for his birth, but her DH had to have a major operation so they couldnt come down. Then she was gonna come down in May but she has a frozen scaiatica and cant sit for more than minutes at a time, so a plane ride is out of the question.
They come down to melb every year from dec to feb and last/this year was the first time since she has been up in cairns for 27 years that she hasnt come down. The poor woman also missed the twins birth by 2 weeks, as they were so early. I think me giving birth jinxes her.
levi was an angel when i was away- esp on the plane- he slept the whole time from tarmac to tarmac on the way back- and even slept from 11pm till 6 straight and then back to sleep till 9.30 as well last nite in his bassinet in the pram.
the only time he cried was when he was in the car- he hates the car as well!! he actaully gets tears and everything- so when you get any luck how to keep them calm in the car- let me know as well. i reckon he gets car sick and he has possitted a little bit after been in the car a few times.
the twins were happy to see me and DH has even cleaned up the loungeroom and done the domestics- what a man
all is quiet in the house and everyone asleep so time for me to go zzzz as well- gotta be up in 4hours for school drop offs- fun fun fun
feel like i have been away for 30 days- not 30 hours- ah time flies . . . .
btw totally recommend travelling Virgin with babes- they were soo helpful- could take pram to stairs of the plane- and staff were awesome, making sure i was briefed personally on where bubs things were etc, and even offered a hand getting off/on, let me board first to give me time etc. GO VIRGIN!!
ali i didnt give panadol because it can mask any reaction, millie didnt need it either.
i put her on the boob but she screamed and screamed so no t much sucking happened.
millie also screamed for her bloodtests too though, but they were pretty mean!
lol at the treadmill!!!
bottle i got the pigeon peristaltic ones
tarkine the hotel sounds lovely!! i just want brekky in bed, a sleep in and some flowers!
meg when do you go to sleepschool???
det wow your nan must have been stoked!!!what a special moment for her!!! glad levi was great on the plane!
Ali - I didn't give any panadol, but you can look into Emla (??) if you are worried. Miss J just had a quick scream with the injections and stopped as soon as I put her on the boob afterwards. She liked the rotavirus oral vaccine and sucked it down happily. I have Miss J taking an Adiri bottle which is BPA free and supposed to be the closest thing to boob - I got it from the Expo last year. The gym - well I'm already a member so I guess I had better use it. Also when I start teaching swimming later in the year I will get my membership for free so it's not a huge issue.
Meg - no I didn't go to the physio class - I thought about it and now I wish that I did as I may have met you!! The physio came and saw me in my room though.
Tarkine - I have asked for either a) tickets to French & Saunders or b) a pedicure voucher - the state of my feet is just horrendous!! Genevieve will make something at childcare which will be the best gift and hopefully a sleep in and breakfast in bed. Not asking of rmuch am I?
AJP - Nope. Didn't get a physio visit in hossy. Got a dietician but only on my second last day because she noticed I was ordering more food than the 'standard' meals because the NUM finally told me I could because I was STARVING all the time!! I think the staff were so focused on my blood loss, rashes and fluid on my belly that they didn't pay much attention to anything else - including feeding. The vast majority of my feeds were unsupervised and I had to ask them to check his attachment What could a physio do for me now? Are there other exercises to make my belly go back to normal quicker? I am still in mat clothes most of the time
Tarkine - Hope you get that breaky in bed darl!! WTG on all that reading! When I have time I'm usually too tired to read much.
Meg - Sounds like a good idea to get the whole picture looked at over a day (and night) or two. GL hun.
Shell - I'm so sorry you had another rough day with Em. Your DH needs a good kick in the pants!! If I lived closer I'd come over and do it for you (I need the exercise )!!!
Ali - I've been told to just have the baby panadol on hand jic. Apparently not all bubs need it. The middy I saw last week went over the top about how few side effects they hear about "now days" whatever that means! My dog is pretty good with Jacob - some normal curiosity and sniffing but she doesn't seem to care when he's on the floor. We don't leave them alone as I'm sure you don't either. Your dogs sound adorable!
Det - Whoohoo on the trip away! So glad your Nan was tickled pink and that Levi travelled well.
AFM - We finally put J in cloth yesterday and worked out (after a couple of false starts!) how to fold the nappies so he doesn't leak!! Had tried them a couple of times earlier but he always leaked wee everwhere! Will probably now spend some of Kevin's money buying more as it won't be too long and he'll be too big for the pre-folds I made. I do have more material to keep making pre-folds too but figure the pockets or AIOs will be easier when we're out and about.
kaz yay on the cloth!!!! missy had a sposie on last night and her vagina was covered in the crystals not happy!
id definatly contact someone reagarding some physio, not sure what can be done but worth finding out, maybe even contact kirsten the osteo that works at the bellybelly cnetre and ask her for some advice and who is best to see, she may even have some suggestions for someone up your way. though im a little shocked no one came and saw you
i ate heaps too in hospital, i ordered bigger portions too pity my appetite went when i got home!
hows your fatgiue going do you feel any better yet???
AJP - can you update the list so that L's birth weight is 6lb 5oz, not 7oz! Sorry, my bad
Heaven, the pneumoccol vax has the potential to cause severe allergic reactions and even thought that risk is very small, I don't want to risk Leon being in that small percentage. I know Hib is a relatively safe vaccine to have and I believe the pros of DTP vax outweigh the cons and it is very important to have immunity from tetenus(sp) especially imo. It is a very hard decision especially considering it is your baby's health and wellbeing at stake!
Ali & Shell, sorry your DP's can be such sh*ts! Ali I'm glad you and your DP made up though ! My DP often decides there are higher priorities than our DS - the other night it was his friend who he hasn't seen for a while who called out of the blue and wanted to have a drink, so he left me right before L's witching period and how was I supposed to get dinner with a screaming inconsolable baby? He didn't get home til very late and he was drunk and then had work at 3am... yesterday he decided he HAD to buy a computer so again, he left me with L upset and unsettled. He often goes out straight from work without letting me know and I wait here like an idiot expecting him to be here and I end up calling him wondering where he is and he acts like he's done nothing wrong and it's all good, but it's NOT! He will say "oh I just thought I'd stop by _____ I thought you wouldn't mind..." *insert angry face!* SOrry this ended up a mini vent! Point is, I can empathise with you both lol.
Ellie, nice to hear from you. Dw, I find it hard to get on the computer too!
Nai, no news is definitely good news!
Kaz, that's no good about the screaming and fussing during feeds. I hope it works out better today. He may be needing to burp/fart during the feeds? DS fusses and cries when he has wind and when I take him off he screams even more, but eventually a burp or fart will come out and he can continue to feed properly. He is actually fussing a lot in the last 24 hours and I'm pretty sure it's coz he hasn't done a poo since Friday and he is usually so regular!
AJP, glad you found a bottle that worked! I need to find a dummy that works for L as he is quite fussy also. He can't get the hang of any of the dummies we have tried.
Tarkine, sounds like you will have a great mothers day! DP probably won't even realise what day it is lol. I don't expect anything.
Megie, hope you find some solutions with sleep school - you'll have to share!
Ali, my MCHN said giving panadol before injections was a big no no. Only if they have a raised temperature should you give panadol. Who knows, Ash might not even have any side effects so you wouldn't want to give her anything that might not be needed! Hope it all goes well for you both
Det, so glad you had a good time away! You Nan must have been so happy Will keep Virgin in mind for future flights!
AFM, we have a new hiccup: skin problems Poor L. I think he has eczema! His whole head/face is so itchy, dry, red and scaley He keeps burying his head in my chest and rubbing it violently to itch it and moaning and grizzling It must be so frustrating for him. Has anyone heard of Moogoo? I bought some of their scalp cream and the eczema/psoriosis cream as well, so waiting for it to arrive and see how it goes. Do you think almond oil in the meantime will help? I also have some moogoo MSM cream that I might try. I need to keep his skin moist and supple right? So now we have this skin problem on top of no poos, lots of wind, fussing during feeds and no sleep! He did not sleep all night last night and finally managed to feed him and get him down for 2 hours at 6 this morning...I had to ask my Grandma to mind him for a couple of hours during the night as I was just exhausted. I feel so sad for him, he must be so miserable and uncomfortable
holly i have the moogoo scalp cream and its fab! sorry leon is so itchy poor chook
we use the happybaby dummy, cherry shape, its the only one ive bought!
