AJP - Nope. Didn't get a physio visit in hossy. Got a dietician but only on my second last day because she noticed I was ordering more food than the 'standard' meals because the NUM finally told me I could because I was STARVING all the time!! I think the staff were so focused on my blood loss, rashes and fluid on my belly that they didn't pay much attention to anything else - including feeding. The vast majority of my feeds were unsupervised and I had to ask them to check his attachment What could a physio do for me now? Are there other exercises to make my belly go back to normal quicker? I am still in mat clothes most of the time
Tarkine - Hope you get that breaky in bed darl!! WTG on all that reading! When I have time I'm usually too tired to read much.
Meg - Sounds like a good idea to get the whole picture looked at over a day (and night) or two. GL hun.
Shell - I'm so sorry you had another rough day with Em. Your DH needs a good kick in the pants!! If I lived closer I'd come over and do it for you (I need the exercise )!!!
Ali - I've been told to just have the baby panadol on hand jic. Apparently not all bubs need it. The middy I saw last week went over the top about how few side effects they hear about "now days" whatever that means! My dog is pretty good with Jacob - some normal curiosity and sniffing but she doesn't seem to care when he's on the floor. We don't leave them alone as I'm sure you don't either. Your dogs sound adorable!
Det - Whoohoo on the trip away! So glad your Nan was tickled pink and that Levi travelled well.
AFM - We finally put J in cloth yesterday and worked out (after a couple of false starts!) how to fold the nappies so he doesn't leak!! Had tried them a couple of times earlier but he always leaked wee everwhere! Will probably now spend some of Kevin's money buying more as it won't be too long and he'll be too big for the pre-folds I made. I do have more material to keep making pre-folds too but figure the pockets or AIOs will be easier when we're out and about.
kaz yay on the cloth!!!! missy had a sposie on last night and her vagina was covered in the crystals not happy!
id definatly contact someone reagarding some physio, not sure what can be done but worth finding out, maybe even contact kirsten the osteo that works at the bellybelly cnetre and ask her for some advice and who is best to see, she may even have some suggestions for someone up your way. though im a little shocked no one came and saw you
i ate heaps too in hospital, i ordered bigger portions too pity my appetite went when i got home!
hows your fatgiue going do you feel any better yet???
AJP - can you update the list so that L's birth weight is 6lb 5oz, not 7oz! Sorry, my bad
Heaven, the pneumoccol vax has the potential to cause severe allergic reactions and even thought that risk is very small, I don't want to risk Leon being in that small percentage. I know Hib is a relatively safe vaccine to have and I believe the pros of DTP vax outweigh the cons and it is very important to have immunity from tetenus(sp) especially imo. It is a very hard decision especially considering it is your baby's health and wellbeing at stake!
Ali & Shell, sorry your DP's can be such sh*ts! Ali I'm glad you and your DP made up though ! My DP often decides there are higher priorities than our DS - the other night it was his friend who he hasn't seen for a while who called out of the blue and wanted to have a drink, so he left me right before L's witching period and how was I supposed to get dinner with a screaming inconsolable baby? He didn't get home til very late and he was drunk and then had work at 3am... yesterday he decided he HAD to buy a computer so again, he left me with L upset and unsettled. He often goes out straight from work without letting me know and I wait here like an idiot expecting him to be here and I end up calling him wondering where he is and he acts like he's done nothing wrong and it's all good, but it's NOT! He will say "oh I just thought I'd stop by _____ I thought you wouldn't mind..." *insert angry face!* SOrry this ended up a mini vent! Point is, I can empathise with you both lol.
Ellie, nice to hear from you. Dw, I find it hard to get on the computer too!
Nai, no news is definitely good news!
Kaz, that's no good about the screaming and fussing during feeds. I hope it works out better today. He may be needing to burp/fart during the feeds? DS fusses and cries when he has wind and when I take him off he screams even more, but eventually a burp or fart will come out and he can continue to feed properly. He is actually fussing a lot in the last 24 hours and I'm pretty sure it's coz he hasn't done a poo since Friday and he is usually so regular!
AJP, glad you found a bottle that worked! I need to find a dummy that works for L as he is quite fussy also. He can't get the hang of any of the dummies we have tried.
Tarkine, sounds like you will have a great mothers day! DP probably won't even realise what day it is lol. I don't expect anything.
Megie, hope you find some solutions with sleep school - you'll have to share!
Ali, my MCHN said giving panadol before injections was a big no no. Only if they have a raised temperature should you give panadol. Who knows, Ash might not even have any side effects so you wouldn't want to give her anything that might not be needed! Hope it all goes well for you both
Det, so glad you had a good time away! You Nan must have been so happy Will keep Virgin in mind for future flights!
AFM, we have a new hiccup: skin problems Poor L. I think he has eczema! His whole head/face is so itchy, dry, red and scaley He keeps burying his head in my chest and rubbing it violently to itch it and moaning and grizzling It must be so frustrating for him. Has anyone heard of Moogoo? I bought some of their scalp cream and the eczema/psoriosis cream as well, so waiting for it to arrive and see how it goes. Do you think almond oil in the meantime will help? I also have some moogoo MSM cream that I might try. I need to keep his skin moist and supple right? So now we have this skin problem on top of no poos, lots of wind, fussing during feeds and no sleep! He did not sleep all night last night and finally managed to feed him and get him down for 2 hours at 6 this morning...I had to ask my Grandma to mind him for a couple of hours during the night as I was just exhausted. I feel so sad for him, he must be so miserable and uncomfortable
holly i have the moogoo scalp cream and its fab! sorry leon is so itchy poor chook
we use the happybaby dummy, cherry shape, its the only one ive bought!
Holly - That really sucks that L has itchy skin. I can totally empathise with him (and you having to watch him uncomfortable!) because I ended up with 4 different types of rash in the week before and weeks after giving birth. There is nothing worse than being itchy! I hope the moogoo works a treat for him!....and grrrrr for your DP's priorities! I'll happily give his butt a kick for you too!!
AJP - Am feeling slightly better each week. I still get tired (but don't we all ) but find that if I've been out of the house and doing something during the day, even if only briefly, then I cope better in the evenings if I haven't had an arvo sleep (when it's all so rushed and Mr. J is at his most ferral during feeds). If I've stayed home all day and then missed the afternoon nap because Mr. J won't sleep then I'm a basket case - my poor DP!! How are you going energy wise?? Thanks for the suggestions re: physio too. I've been told my uterus will take 3 months to shrink back to normal which is depressing. I could be in more normal clothes but feel really self conscious about my belly so am comfy in looser stuff (although it prolly makes me look bigger than I really am).
Nai - Hi!! Tried to go back and edit my last post but the computer froze!
Just got back from doctors. i cried more than Ashlyn did Didnt give her panadol but bought some JIC.
She's just fallen asleep on my boob. Bless her, she's so beautiful! I had the whooping cough booster vaccine as well.
We use the avent dummy, its really cute and they have different sizes for different ages.
We had great sleep last night. Ash slept in her bouncer till 12 then we all went to bed in the king sized bed, i fed her then and she slept until 7am then fed and all slept in until 10am! It was nice sleeping as a family.
I'm glad the vaccinations went ok Ali - I think it's more stressful for us than them
Well I made it to the gym and did my first jog in almost a year!! I did 2.5km in 19.5min so I was pretty happy with that. Now I just have to keep it up.....
Kaz - I am the same. I need to get out of the house or I would go insane.
E has slept 40 mins x3 today and that is it. She seems ok between sleeps though, although she does like to be carried. She did 8pm to 3:30am then to 7:30am, so she is catching up at night.
Made my referral to sleep school, as I really think there is more to it due to the fussing at feeds. I should get in, in about 3 to 4 weeks. Will keep you all posted.
Meg - good on you for making the decision about sleep school. Keep us updated. Which one have you signed on for?? A few of the mums in my mothers group have been to sleep schools/seen sleep consultants... with mixed responses...
Nai, so impressed with your gym efforts
Ali, I cried more than DD did with the vax as well. How has Ash been this arvo? Hope you have an ok night.
Kaz - I know what you mean about the flabby tummy, I had a tighter top on today and was feeling quite self conscious! I need to exercise more...
AJP that's the only dummy I've found that DD will take! The cheapest one from the supermarket, how funny, she didn't want the fancy orthodontic ones! Ah well!
Holly - so sorry about your new skin problems. You sound like you're having a rough trot, poor thing. I don't know much about the Moogoo stuff sorry! As I said above the Happy Baby dummy is the one that DD will take. Also she takes the Medela bottles, just standard teat, I bought them from Target.
Det - so impressed with your Cairns jaunt. Sounds like a lovely surprise for your nan! See you Wednesday xx
Shell - how has E been recently?? Sorry for your tough day!
Tarkine - GL with the hotel idea
AFM: Isabel seems to be settling a bit better - touch wood. We've persisted with the bath-boob-bed routine and she seems to be getting it, we've had her asleep by 8pm every night for about a week. I've stopped trying to do the rollover feed and just get to bed whenever I can and she's been waking around 11pm-12.30am, I feed and change her nappy to wake her up a bit and feed a bit more to try and get a bigger sleep out of her. Seems to work as she goes back to sleep and gets thru another 4 or so hours.
The early morning is a bit hit and miss, sometimes she'll go another 3hrs after the 3am feed, sometimes its only an hour and a half or thereabouts. Not sure what to do - just keep persisting I guess.
Went to a Hen's party on Sat, left home at 2pm and got back at 11.30pm. DD was fantastic for Grandma and Grandpa (DH was at the Buck's) - went to sleep after a bottle at about 8pm and didn't stir til about 12.45am. Woo! I think Grandma was a bit disappointed she didn't get to cuddle her DGD (dear grand daughter ) all night!
Dummy question - we finally got DD to take a dummy and I'm worried we're overusing it already. Should I try and settle using other methods before going dummy? Or if dummy works first time, is it ok to just chuck that in??
OP glad the routine is working!!!!
dummy's i give millie one if she crackes it when im putting her down, she spits it out when shes asleep so i dont replug, though overnight after feeds she doens need one!!
MIL who works in a parent and baby unit was telling me that they now recommend trying to resettle three times before using the dummy. do what works hun!!
ETA hows the night nappy going?? i checked my wool covers and there too big, i have a medium
We're doing the same thing - try to put her down without, only put it in if she cracks it. Though on Sat Grandma got her down without - but she cuddled to sleep. What's the lesser of those evils??
Three times, huh? Hmm. We'll see.
With the midnight nappy change we are making it thru without wetting. Forgot to add earlier, DD is also in the cot now. Such a big girl.
OP- I say whatever works, we use it pretty much for all sleeps, usually I rock her til she is sleepy the put her down and 95% of the time she starts doing the sucking thing with her mouth and I pop the dummy in, otherwise she cracks it and wakes herself up too much. Just annoys me the times I have to keep replacing it.
Meg- Miss E of yours sounds just like how Ash was withthe sleeping, we ended up at a sleep clinic with her. Hope you don't have to wait too long.
Ali- Glad the vacs went well, we still have to get ours done here.
Holly- i really hope you sort things out there, sounds like you're having such a hard time. One prob after the next.
det - what a fantastic suprise!!! how thoughtful of you im glad to hear everything went well on the plane. I will definatly be flying with virgin if i ever need to!!
AJP - same situation in this house! i wish i had of bought a bigger bassinet - i forgot how quickly they grow!!! how are you and millie going??
Nai - woohoo on going to the gym!! good on you!!!
Kaz- Im glad to hear the cloth is working for you! im still not 100 percent convinced to coonvert to cloth.. although i did cave in and buy an itti bitti AIO.
Holly - argh its horrible!! Bella also has really dry skin and i have just started using QV oil in the bath, this organic shampoo and cocoa butter (for babies) when i dress her!
I hope you get it all sorted out soon xx
Ali - vac's are horrible arent they?? YAY on getting a good sleep and sleeping as a family how is all that 'stuff' going now??
meg - Hi!!! make sure you keep us posted! i hope you get the answers you need!
OP- glad to hear that the routine is working for you!!! i try and settle bella without a dummy, but sometimes she will just have a little suck - spit it out and fall asleep strange hey? do what works for you, there is no right and wrong.
shell - hellooo!!!
and also a big hello to everyone else heaven, amy, ummmm oh damn i have forgot!!! well it is 12:30
AFM - thank you so much girls for thinking of little bella, she is doing ok now we havnt had anymore scares!!!
i know i missed ALOT in the personals but i really just wanted to catch up!! please dont think i dont care because i really do!!!!
argh my eyes hurt i think i should go to bed
night xx
I'm glad Bella is ok Laura - I hope it was just a once off thing.
Miss J won't take a dummy anymore but loves her thumb so I have started putting her in a sleeping bag and leaving her arms free (and warm) so that she can access her thumb for self-settling.
AFM - I'm in a world of pain today after my gym visit yesterday. At least I know I worked some muscles - every single one of them screams every time I move
