pinny she had crap sleeps all yesterday, but is great overnight now, only one feed, she had 45 mins this morning so thats already better than yesterday! i emailed you some pics too!

OK - who here does a dreamfeed? I have tried it for the past 4 nights, and honestly I don't think it makes a difference. She still wakes at about 3am for a quick feed.
Just gonna lie on the couch today with the laptop. Too tired to do anything. J will ahve to be amused my palyhouse Disney.

We have the opposite here L is fantsatic a day sleeps not so good over night still wkes twice!! at least... He has just woken from a 2 hr 45 min sleep...Good boy..
Meg- I tend to agree with you, I don't think the dream feed makes any difference, I have tried them a couple of times but does not seem to work here!!!
Meg - she woke a few times during the night for a feed/comfort. I think her nose is blocked and she may have a sore throat if she has the same thing that I had the other week and DD1 has had for the past 2 weeks.
Kaz- I seem to be having the same probs that you were with J after the vax. I just dont know what has happened... Hope things are improving for you guys
Thanks girls for all of your support. It has meant alot. Things just seem to have been upheaved here and I am feeling a little ovewhelmed. And really I shouldnt be. I feel like my stress might be rubbing off on Ash.
Sleep at night has deteriated (sp?) the last 3 nights. We are sleeping from 7 until 10 and then we are waking every 2hours up until 7:30 to feed. Cant settle her any other way. She is back in bed with me now as well from about 10pm as I am just so tired.
Holly I keep thinking of you and thinking I really shouldnt complain. In fact each time I am up at night, I have been thinking I am sure Holly is probably awake now as well.
Then today I went to lunch with a gf at a cafe and this little boy probably about 4 came over and was looking at DD and then all of a sudden he hit her in the face WTF! The grandma was so apolgetic but I was in shock. I wanted to yell at this kid but I was so shocked I was speechless. I mean he was 4 not to 2 or 3, its like he was this nice child and then all of a sudden hit her in the face. The grandma was very overwhelmed as well. I still cant get over it.
Anyway we are off to Canberra tomorrow for DP's uncle's funeral so will be back on Wednesday.
Tarkine- I hope your DH fnds a job. Stick to your guns hun, you are already working fulltime with A, you dont need to add anything more on yor plate. The job situation in this country is ****ed though. My poor stepdad got made redundant and has been out of work since DD was born and he goes for so many interviews but there is so much competition out there. Why is it that bad things happen to good people??? Jols- awesome weight gain on M!!! Nai- You poor thing. Your fam has had so many bugs that are going around. Hope Miss J gets back to sleeping well. Hi ladies, still here, just having a rough time with DD. We're trying to get rid of the dummy and I am questioning whether it is even worth it... she has been screaming pretty much all day today and we've been rocking her to sleep.
OP- Its hard isn't it. I wish I had words of advice I think some babies just go better than others once its gone. Does she scream for long? Emily carried on for maybe 30mins then went off to sleep I would sit next to her and pat her roll her on her side and rock her or pat her back. I hope it improves for you. I have found she sleeps so much better now, actually having a longer sleep in the day and sleeping 5hrs at night between feeds.
Ali- Thats terrible about that boy, I'm glad the grandma was apologetic. Its terrible tho, I get nervous with other kids around Emily, they just so impulsive you don't know what they gonna do. I hope you start getting better night sleeps. I wish I had some great advice, will she not take the dummy? Just wanting booby?
AJP- Great weight gain!
Meg- we used to do dreamfeed for ages at 10-10:30 each night which helped a little depending on how much she took, but not long after we got rid of the dummy she started refusing the feeds. So don't bother now. She goes from 7pm til 1am then til 6:30-7:00ish. Considering at 6 months I was still getting up 3hrly with Ashleigh feeding once a night is a dream!

Nai- poor Miss J. How is she going? Maybe give her some panadol at bedtime help her settle if she isn't feeling well. Do you have a vapouriser? I got talked into getting one and worked well.
Tarkine- well I hope he does sort things out and gets work, hope he is not expecting you to rush out if its normally you that picks up the pieces. Could he just get soemthing temporary even if its not something he is interested in just til he finds the right job? I worry for you living on that does it even cover rent?
Holly- I look forward to the day when L is sleeping perfectly for you. I know one day it WILL come, just keep telling yourself that, once his breathing is all sorted you can concentrate on the sleep issues.
Emily had a moody morning, grizzly grumpy, finally had good sleep this arvo and was alot better mood. Df back to work today so I can get back into my routine.
Ali - that is shocking that the 4 year old came up and hit Ash... I get ropable when I see kids playing games in the supermarket (one kid was kicking a soccer ball in the middle of Coles!! I mean what on earth are these kids going to be like when they are teenages?)
Shell - I don't know what's going to happen with us.. We have some money in our mortgage.. I'm NOT rushing back to work - its DH turn to do what I've done when he's been sick in the past and I've dropped everything and worked in some really terrible workplaces... but knowing him he'd redraw all the cash off the mortgage and maybe then do something about getting a job...

OP - we are having sleep battles at the moment so I feel your pain.
Ali - I would have been shocked too. A 4 year old should know better! Grrr!
Miss J is going down ok during the day - still only 40min sleeps but I am now able to pat her to sleep rather than feed her to sleep which is a big improvement. However at night she does her bedtime routine and goes down at about 7pm and then wakes 40 mins later and refuses to go back to sleep!! The last 2 nights she has been up until 10pm. Panadol seems to have absolutely no effect on her at all - even when teething it didn't even seem to do anything to her pain I have been using saline drops in her nose as she was stuffy but she doesn't really enjoy that.
I don't know what to do with her - she must be so tired as she is missing out on 2 hours sleep a night and isn't making up for it during the day at all.
Nai- It sounds like she doesn't think it is bedtime yet, and is treating it like another day nap. Maybe try not to let her sleep later that 5pm?? I am not sure if yo uare alreading doing this though... It is frustrating when they do this as you need some time to yourself as well.
last night I was in bed asleep by 9:30, but I woke 4 hours later and couldn't get back to sleep! I am now so used to not sleeping more than 4 hours stright, that when I do I feel like I am oversleeping. J didn't have a nightmare last night, so much better there, and E slept from 7 till 5:30, then back to bed till 9am, so pretty good here last night. DH is oncall tonight, so I will prob have kids awake as well as the pager going off. I HATE call nights.
Shell - It sounds like Em is doing so much better dummy free. E has now been 5 days dummy free. She sorta gave it up on her own. Just ddin't want it one night, so I didn't push it, and she settled beautifully. She also is sleeping loger withouut it.
OP - It sounds like you are having a tough time. I hope it gets better soon.
Meg - no good on waking up! I did the same and was awake from 3.45 until after 5. It is soooo annoying! I think you are right about her thinking it is a day sleep. She has been waking at around 3.30pm and I have been keeping her up until bedtime so maybe I need to squeeze another catnap in there and put her to bed a bit later.
Jols - I don't have a vaporiser Can you hire them? I don't really want to spend the money before I know that it works.
Ali, you are so sweet! We all have the right to whinge lol any sleep deprivation is bad! How horrible that the boy hit little Ash As much as I would have loved to scream at him, it actually reminds me of my brother when he was younger. He has a type of autism and was such a terror child, but the cutest looking kid ever! Old ladies would come up to him and my mum and want to chat and he would abruptly scream in people's faces. My mum was so embarrassed! He must have looked so rude lol. Once at church play group (he would have been maybe 8?) he kicked another boy and made him cry for no reason. It would still make me mad if it happened to my child but at least if the parents or in your case, grandparents, are apologetic then what can you do!
Shell, yes I'm waiting for that day too!! Everytime I put him down I think "hmm maybe this is it and he will sleep for a few hours!" How are the girls today?
Tarkine, I hope your dh finds some work. When dp needed money a few years ago and had no career in mind and no experience, he got a job at safeway (woolworths) packing during the nights. As far as I know, the money was okay!

Hi to everyone else!
AFM, this morning around 3am, I woke up to sharp stabbing pains in my left boob and it was rock hard and sore and full - L hadn't fed off it since yesterday afternoon and I was so tired last night I let him sleep sucking on the right the whole night. My poor bb's! So I tried to put him on the left but he wouldn't suck so I had to get out the pump and express - I got 150ml! It's now in the fridge and it's good because I can get him minded he can have a bottle on Friday when I have to go somewhere not baby friendly. Yay!
Also had L's skin specialist follow up appointment today. He asked how the medication was going and I told him I haven't noticed much improvement. He gave me three options... 1) continue with his medication for a bit longer to see if it kicks in
2) have L take cortison orally as well as the stuff he's already taking
3) inject it into his nose instead, which lasts longer than taken orally and the ENT specialist administer it
We agreed to just wait and see if his condition improves with the stuff he's already taking, considering he's only been having it for a couple of weeks. Plus, dp wasn't there to consult with. Doc said to email him at any time in the following days/weeks if I change my mind and want to take further action and he will arrange it. Is this the first time a patient has called the shots? lol
Still haven't heard anything about his oxygen monitoring - that was organised by the ENT specialist, so the guy I saw today didn't know anything about it.
My mum came with me today and was saying to L's specialist how even after having 4 children herself, she's never seen such an unsettled baby...poor L! My sister's auntie (half sister, so non-related side, not my auntie) came over the other day and L was whinging and it wasn't even a bad cry and she said "oh if mine were like that I would go insane!" I was like "gee, this isn't even bad!"
So anyway, L finally slept at 3:00pm - first day sleep of the day! I'm pooped! He just woke up about 20 mins ago, so it was an okay sleep. Dp has him now. Got my group certificate in the post so I might do our tax returns and get some cash back
Gee I feel like I write so much about L, so whoever can be bothered reading it all, you probably feel as though you live here SORRY!
