Happy Birthday AJP! Hope you're having a great day :D (Can I ask...is Jols short for something? Am I missing something really obvious? )
L's check went well. He is on the 30th percentile for length, 50th percentile for weight, and 75th percentile for head circumference (so he's a shorty with a boof head!)
Measurements as follows: 69cm long, 8.72kg and 45.5 head circ. I honestly thought he would have passed the 9kg mark by now!
Anyway, just checking in, gotta go to uni now (was meant to be there 10 mins ago!)
-
-
blaaaaaaaah i'll be back later when sophie goes to mums... been a busy few days with illness here!
-
I saw on FB that you had illness in your house. Hope everyone is recovering.
So quiet in here....
Where has everyone gone?
-
im better, pounding headache and a bit of a blocked nose and crusty eye but poor millie :( had to take her to the hospital last night she was so distressed :( another ear infection, only had one 6 or so weeks ago, sleep has been very poor here for over a week and i think were all suffering for that too!
thanks everyone for my birthday wishes, was ok DH forgot it initially when we woke, brother forgot again, second year in a row. so i was a little crabby yesterday
happy birthday Abbey for yesterday!! looking forward to seeing you at your party tomorrow (though i'll keep my distance!)]
meg whats with the train line works, arnt they ment to tell you their working on the lines??
-
Jols - like the new name. I didn't know who it was at first ;) I hope everyone is on the mend!!
We have been very busy lately - it's silly season early! Yesterday we went to the MHCN for Miss J's 8m check up. She's 7.9kg and 69cm so all average. The only thing she did say is that she isn't "babbling" enough in saying things like "mummum, dada, baba" etc so she wanted to refer her to an audiologist to get her hearing checked :( We were a bit hesitant as she is making lots of noise and sounds and can clearly hear as she wakes up if DD1 coughs during the night :dunno: Maybe we should have got it just to rule anything out.
Last night was awful as I was up every couple of hours with Miss J crying and wanting feeds and then DD1 wet the bed - so I'm tired and cranky today! Early night for me tonight I think.
-
what nai!!!!!!!!! millie babbles only dadah dad da, rahrahrah, thats it! cant believe she was worried  mine never mentioned millies babble, did J get tested in hospital??
she weighs the same as millie now!!
id be cranky too hun, go get a coffee
ETA oh and bubbub
-
Yeah she passed the hospital test just fine. She makes noise and sounds just not the "right" ones apparently.
I forgot to add she has just started waving - it is so cute. It sounds like she is saying "hi" when she does it too.
-
i honestly dont think you have anything to worry about, maybe get it done for peace of mind
waving is cute, im trying to get millie to clap
-
Hey Jols - New user name! Nice. I am going ot change mine too. Thinking of changing it to Lilima as that is what J calls E.
Nai - E says mum, bub, ga, dad, but she can't wave, doesn't crawl..... So I think it is a bit of an over reaction. Hopefully everyone sleeps better in your house tonight.
Yeah - they never told us about the railway works. THe only reason I know that it wil lbe going on the rest of this week and possibly next is that I called Vline and complained about the lack of communication. Honestly all night you hear "beep, beep" as the trucks reverse, then "CRASH" as they dump a load. At one stage they were hammering, and i incorporated it into a dream and thought someone was knocking on the front door!
Jols - Poor little pet with an ear infection. I hope it improves soon,.
Doesn't it feel like winter here again in good old Melbs!
-
Olive, love the new name. Sorry to hear you're unwell. It so sucks big time. Hope you're getting some rest this afternoon.
Meg - Gggrrr at train work near your house! DP used to live near trainlines (industry ones) and they were heaps noisy with squealing brakes etc at all hours so I know what you're going through. Can you talk your DH into going away for a few days?
Holly - whoot on getting your uni assignments done!
Nai - I think if you're not worried about J's hearing then it's fine. Honestly, they want all the kids they see to fit into the textbook and that is so unrealistic. If she's making noises and 'talking' she's doing great. There's an 8mth old in my mums group IRL who never makes a sound. I'd be more worried about that personally. J says adadad, adee, dididi, blahblahblah. A whole range and it changes every day it seems. I have heard mum but not for a long time :(
:hello: to everyone else!
AFM - I am finally starting to feel a bit human again although my cough for the first hour I'm up would wake the dead  After whinging in here the other day about J not sleeping much during the day he's breaking records now!! Yesterday we had a 3 hour morning sleep :o (then three more 40mins naps) today we've had a 2 hour sleep and he's now been down another 2.5hours :o again. Can't believe it. It's so random, I have no idea what is different about the past 2 days. I should have got heaps more done but I kept expecting him to wake up so I've wasted the time
-
Olive- love the name change! Hope your feeling better, glad Dh remembered your birthday in the end...i bet you would eb crabby as for your brother..that's not on..See u tomorrow
Kaz- glad ur finally feeling better, yay on the day sleeps
Nai- I wouldn't worry too much about the hearing especially as u had her heaing checked in hosptial..Lewis doesn't make the typical mum dad sounds but has heaps others...I'm waiting for his check up so he has more time to "achieve" their goals..Go with you mummy instinct..
Meg- will loke out for the new name- so cute with DS saying DD name like that
We have had a super busy weekend and week was DD 4th birthday yesterday so spending today recovering from all the excitement!! Lewis slept so crap last night, but it was a bad night out of 4 ok ones so I shoudn't not try to complain too much
I'm loving the weather here atm.
Ok going to sound dumb but I have only got Olive on facebook, how do I add anyone else..sounds like you guys chat in there too.
-
Nai- I didn't realise there was right noises they are meant to make, Em mainly says mmm and sometimes sounds like mum but thats cauyse she always whinging for me, otherwise she growls or yells or does ba ba.
Is miss J unwell or anything or just decided to have bad night?
Pinny- I've PM'd you who I am so you can add me on FB. Happy Birthday to your daughter! Enjoy her party.
Kaz- yay on day sleeps! I've given up trying to work out whats different, they seem to wait til your used to something and then change just to keep you guessing! Did you end up seeing that independant midwife with your hospital notes?
Meg- oh god that would really pee me off! How is J and his behaviour going? Do you think it is coinciding with when he gets unwell?
Olive- Happy birthday for the other day! Whats the meaning with Olive? Poor Millie, can't believe another ear infection poor bubba, is she starting to feel better now its being treated?
I'm still getting driven nuts by Emily's being so attached to me, hopefully she will be over it soon.
-
Pinny - I'll pm you my name so you can find me in fb!
Shell - yup. Saw the indep. mw a few weeks back. She put a completely different slant on things and I got answers to all my questions (as much as you can answer some of them). So I feel better in some ways and worse now in others because it confirmed what I suspected about some bad decisions I made when in labour that didn't seem bad at the time..... I'm just kind of sitting with it all at the moment and not ruminating too much. I think (with hindsight) better advice from my caregivers when I was in labour could have possibly avoided the c-section. mw said "they did the right thing" in that, they needed to section me to avoid being sued if anything had gone wrong. So in a legal sense they did the right thing. Apparently what came after was just bad luck and couldn't have been predicted - they managed things according to standard protocols and it still went pear shaped. At least I don't feel like I'm wondering any more, I kind of "know" if that makes sense. Just got to reconcile that "knowing" now and forgive myself for the outcome.
-
Pinny - I'll PM you too :D
Shell - apparently there are "right" noises according to the MHCN but today she started saying "papa, lala and baba" so she's just a few days behind in her development  The sleep issue is because the girls are sharing the same room and DD1 keeps whinging and waking her up GRRR!
Kaz - sometimes the knowing helps stop the "why" but it can still be hard to accept - be kind to yourself
-
Kaz- I hope now with getting all that knowledge you are able to get some closure. Don't be hard on yourself or blame yourself for decisions made. You did what needed to be done at that time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing tho.
-
Thanks girls  Am trying.
-
Kaz- we are all here for you hun. You did everything you could and planned so well. Please be kind to yourself.   I know things didnt go how you planned and it cant be changed now but please dont think that you did anything wrong. Lots of love and support for you hun.
Nai- DD doesnt say any "words" either but I know she has good hearing. She can hear me in another room. My mum told me I didnt really speak until I was 2 because I had an older sister who did all the talking for me and I could never get a word in! I cant believe the MCHN would make you stress like that.
Pinny- You might have to PM me your name as I think my profile you can not search for. If you PM me your name I will add you. ;)
Shell- We have this attatchment phase going on here too. Its so tiring! Let me know when Emily finishes it so that I will know I dont have much more of it to go.
Heaven- The video of Grace crawling is so cute! She is so clever! Did it take her long to work it out? We are doing the rocking things here up on the knees and weight on the hands and we sometimes move backwards and she can shuffle around to turn 180 degrees so I am thinking its not far away!
Ellie- Hows number 2 baking? I hope that MS is getting better. I meant to ask you, have you told family and friends yet?
Meggie- Hope all that noise stops soon and you guys get some sleep. Sounds awful!
Olive- How are you and Millie going? Been thinking of you guys.
I cant see any further back but hi to everyone else.
AFM- I am still sick! Am now nearing the end of the 4th week of being sick. I am fine during the day but when night comes and first thing in the morning it hurts so much to swallow. I really should go to the doctors but I dont want to take antibiotics. They stuff my body around way too much. Ash is okay, but I am worried about re-infecting her again!
We still dont have any teeth here! Kind of enjoying it as hen she smiles she still looks so little with that gummy smile!
I might be a bit quiet over the next few weeks in the forums as I am going to have to start writing school reports and marking lots of assessments for the kids. I will be lurking though and try to post when I have time.

-
Kaz -   I hear you with the decisions that were good at the time, but now seem bad. You know hun you did the right thing at the right time, even though the outcome wasn't what you thought it would be. It is so daunting to know what is the 'right' decision, particularly with medical personal all standing around going "Well you could do x or do y or do z" and when all you can think about is "I want my baby in my arms safely" its hard to logically progress through each option.
In hindsight, I would have done a lot of things differently... but then different decisions may lead to different outcomes, or they may just have lead to the same thing happening but just as a result of a different path...
I like to think that these things that happen to us, are sent to test us or are sent as lessons for us to learn, to resolve something in our past, something we needed to address or remedy - like karma and other buddist philosophies... I'll go back to my corner now.. I'm getting a little too way out there even for me!
Ali - sorry to hear that you're not well.. you should go to the dr... I wonder what it is at night that gives you that reaction... could it be like a food allergy? I know there is a lot of hayfever here at the moment.
Gotta go, got a whingy clingy baby... sigh...
-
Kaz  It's just so hard to plan for something so unpredictable and as first timers even more so. Please don't beat yourself up about it - J loves his mummy all the same!
Ughh well L is unwell. The last two nights have been hellish. Lots of waking and so hard to settle - even for him! He was waking every 15 mins or so (or so it seemed, maybe not even!) I had to stay up and hold him and if I put him down he would just keep waking up with a sudden outburst of cries. He has a stuffy nose so that was waking him up mostly I think. Plus lots of gas which was also waking him up. I think he is suffering from hayfever also. His face is all red and blotchy and he's so itchy. Poor bubba!
Gotta run!
-
We are unwell here too, its never ending. Emily has bit temp yesterday and today so even more whingy and clingy than usual. I've had cough for a month but it mainly just at night and sore throat for week that comes and goes.
Holly- Maybe try some panadol just to help settle him if he is miserable? I hope he feels better soon.
malyna- great post, you have a good way with words.
Ali- doesn't sound like Ash is far off from crwling, Emily did that for awhile, and went backwards then one day just clicked and was moving everywhere. Sounds like Dr trip might be needed for you.
-
i have an ear infection too :( sick of sickness too!
-
Gosg everyone is sick...
Olive- Big hug!! Did you get into Dr's?
Holly- Hope L is on the mend, poor little tike!
Shell- Hope the suckness soon passes! poor girl, must be hard...
Kaz- like the others have said be kind to yourself, try not to live with regret..I too would change things aboutr my DD's birth
Mayla-Like your philosophy... i have similar views.
Ali- that's a long time to be unwell, hope you can get on top of it soon..
I am exhausted!!! we have a a busy week with lots of birthday celebrations and parties and to top it off I was on kinder duty this morning... arhhh but having a relaxing day planned for tomorrow.. L had become really vocal in the past few days especially when he is tired!! and he is also pinching heaps..I know he is only a baby but ooww it hurts i little bruises on my arms!!
-

also he has taken to pinching whilst i am feeding and i have bruises all over the top of bth my boobs -ouch!
just an idea for those who have been getting sick- olive leaf extract!!!!
Awesome for sore throats, build immune system, coughs and respitory illness. You can take it in oil form or in tablet form- chemist warehouse have both cheap!!!!
othwise chewable vitamin C ali for sore throats! and plenty of gargling to keep your mouth free from bacteria that is nasty!!

I must have the freaky baby in the group... Alex is crawling properly, and is getting himself up on his own (video on facebook), but he still supports himself with his arms - he's ****y and will only hold on one handed. He waves, but gets lost looking at the light going between his fingers and he highfived the swim instructor last week (which was a wave, I think).
The words are a lot slower coming - mostly mumumumum and daddda and we say "at" at the cats and the occassional car...
Opps he's awake.. he was monster baby last night, wouldn't go down unless I co-slept and DH and I were clinging onto the sides of the bed... Gotta fly
-
Taking Em to Drs this arvo, still getting temps, lots crying, awake alot overnight screaming at times and couple massive vomits so we'll see.
hard to type at moment with her on me so bbl
-
Shell - I relly hope that she is OK. let us know how she goes.
Malyna - Yeah my friends bub the exact same age as ours is basically walking!
Det - Get some sleep woman!!!!
Olive - are you all better now?
inny- Haven't been pinched here, but she always grabs my hair!
Ali - Hows work going? Hanging for a break I bet!
Holly - How is L feeling?
Kaz - *hugs*
Everyone else HI!
I have worked the past 2 days so not been around a lot. E took the bottle for DH YAY!
Just relaxing today as J is over at my mums for the weekend
-
Hi everyone
Sorry to hear so many unwell...hope everyone feels better soon.
MS still ruling life for us...and so tired...
Have a great weekend :)
-
Ellie- you poor thing. Hang in there, before you know it, it will be over and you will have your bubba.
2 things I have to share: I was eating a bowl of cicken casserole with brown rice for lunch(leftovers) and E LOVED it. She kept wanting more and more and was upset when it was finished.
AND
She has now bitten me 4 times really HARD when feeding. I am thinking that if she keeps it up I will have to wean :(
-
Megie - L is biting, pinching and scratching. He loves pinching my nipples and he does it so hard that milk squirts out and I have scratches all over me. It is so awful and I always say "no" sternly but he clearly doesn't mean to do it so no amount of telling him off is working!! I find myself getting angry at him because he is hurting me but then I feel bad because I know he doesn't mean it.
-
Holly - I know how you feel. It is the first time that I have growled at DD. She has to learn biting is just not an option
-
Yes the biting is a definite no no. I always say "NO do not bite, that hurts!" lol but with the scratching and pinching he seems to just do it without meaning to...the scratching in particular seems to be a comfort thing. The pinching...well he does that more when he's frustrated and unsettled. So annoying and painful!
Tonight he is having zuchini fritters for dinner - just cooked zuchini with cheese and covered in bread crumbs. He's never had cheese before!
Today for breakfast he had oats with pear and for lunch hommus on cruskits. Because he's been sick he was really off his food yesterday and hardly ate so was back to the mild smelling breastmilk poos. Tomorrow is going to be a different story though!
-
Hi girls,
I hope everyone (babies and mums included) are feeling better. I am getting better but feeling really exhausted. Glandular Fever crossed my mind but I had that when I was a teenager and I dont htink you can get it twice.
I have been feeling really funy today though with bf. I dont know why but today everytime DD has wanted to feed of me I am kind of resenting her. Its not that I dont want to feed her, its more that I just want my own space. Has anyone else ever felt like this. I am hoping that it is just today and that I will get over it. It is the only day I have felt like this.
I gave DD baked beans mashed up on toast this morning. For lunch she had tomatoe and basil chicken with rice (loved it) and for dinner yoghurt and a jar of puree pear. (and of course all themilk feeds in between! She is in bed now.
I think we have dropped a day sleep as well. She is only wanting 2 day sleeps, absolutely screams the house down if I try to put her down for another sleep!
Okay just so I have an idea, I have a couple of questions!
Is your baby:
1. Sitting?
2. Crawling?
3. Standing up holding furniture?
4. How many meals a day?
5. What do you do for play time at home?
6. Still have a dummy?
7. Saying words?
8. clapping?
9. waving?
10. teeth?
Oh and an extra one for you Holly!!! ;) With the frittas (that sound so yummy) how do you make them, and how do you cook them? I want to try them!
-
I'll start
Is your baby:
1. Sitting? YES
2. Crawling? ALMOST
3. Standing up holding furniture? NO
4. How many meals a day? 2 SOMETIMES 3
5. What do you do for play time at home? JOLLY JUMPER, PLAYMAT, DRUMS, CHEWING STUFF, ROLLING BALL
6. Still have a dummy? YES
7. Saying words? NO
8. clapping? NO
9. waving? NO
10. teeth? NO
-
1. Sitting? YES
2. Crawling? ALMOST
3. Standing up holding furniture? NO
4. How many meals a day? 3
5. What do you do for play time at home? JOLLY JUMPER, PLAYMAT, CHEWING STUFF, PLAYING WITH BROTHER
6. Still have a dummy? NO
7. Saying words? MUM, DAD, BUB, GAA (IS GAA A WORD? :) )
8. clapping? NO
9. waving? NO
10. teeth? 2
If we shake our head, she will do the same
-
I am constantly saying ma ma ma and da da da and ba ba ba to DD but she just looks at me and smiles and then does a yelling noise! LOL!
-
1. Sitting? YES
2. Crawling? commando and close to proper crawling.
3. Standing up holding furniture? NO
4. How many meals a day? 2
5. What do you do for play time at home? She loves crawling to toy room and seeing what she can get her hands on.
6. Still have a dummy? NO
7. Saying words? mmmm, sort of mum, baa, growls alot,
8. clapping? NO
9. waving? NO
10. teeth? none.
Went to Dr, Em just has virus, she said her throat looked bit inflammed so that prolly why she been upset, I've had sore throat on and off for a week so prolly got what I got, she is on the mend, seems better this arvo, of course as usual she picked up right before Dr appt but took her anyway seeing as I had it.
Ali- I remember those sort of feelings with DD1, esp since she wouldn't take a bottle for ages and I remember just feeling trapped and annoyed. So it is normal, does she drink EBM? Maybe give her a bottle sometime in the day just so you can have a break and have your body to yourself.
Holly and Meg- I remember when my sister had probs with biting and so on when BFing she used to say no and put him down on the floor, that way he caught on that the behaviour was always followed by being put down. Just something I thought you could try.
Ellie- Is the zofran not working so well? You poor thing, I hope this settles soon. Are you keeping fluids down?
Det- thanks, I'll have to keep my eyes open for that. I haven't heard of the olive leaf for sicknesses, hope it doesn't taste disgusting!
Olive- How are you? You on antis? Hopefully they've kicked in and doing what they meant to.
-
This I can do lol...
1. Sitting? Yes
2. Crawling? Almost
3. Standing up holding furniture? no
4. How many meals a day? 3
5. What do you do for play time at home? same
6. Still have a dummy? never had one...refused lol!
7. Saying words? mum, nah, dad
8. clapping? no
9. waving? no
10. teeth? bottom 2
Zofran doesn't seem as fantastic this time...get a few hours out of it and that's it...phenergan at night is great...but all this is timed around bf in morning and night with bottles during the day so it's all out of my system before I feed...hanging out for 12 weeks and hoping it will settle :)
-
1. Sitting- yes
2. Crawling no but we fly
3. Standing up holding furniture no
4. How many meals a day between 1&3
5. What do you do for play time at home bit of everything!
6. Still have a dummy no regected that at 4 months but has a blankie which is very cute
7. Saying words dada, rahrah, bubba
8. clapping no
9. waving no
10. teeth no, loving the gummy smiles for as long as possible
