Hey guys,
Paed went okay. He totally didn't like that I got a referral to a dermatologist (did I mention that before?). Said they won't do anything...hmm okay. So he referred me to a ENT paed (ear/nose/throat) who I've actually met before, to see to L's nose. At least there's an action plan - kinda...we'll see what the ent guy says and go from there.
Nai, hope you get a better night tonight.'
Megie I got the bulb/aspirater. Tested it on myself first lol. It was a bit ineffective I thought, but maybe my nose is too blocked (I've had hayfever for days now grr!) I'll try it on L soon.
Kaz, I'd do anything for L to wake only twice over night! Did I read that right???
Better go, he's whinging...

Hi girls,
I rang the ABA tonight because I was worried that I am putting Ash on the boob too much at night. (its been like 3 or 4 times a night between 12 and 7am. They are so helpfl, she said it wasnt a problem unless I thought it was a problem but that I could try feeding her 3 times between 4 and 7 to try and get her to cluster feed then and fill her little tummy up. Will give that a try tomorrow.
Has been a busy day here, we had mums group this morning at a cafe and then I went to my old work and saw the teacehrs there and then I met up with the gorgeous Jenjorja late this arvo for coffee. She is such a nice girl. My first IRL BB meet up! :) Jealous you girls are all ahving a meet up but Kaz and I will be getting better next week. Can you all take photos of your little meet up and the babies together for us?
Now personals.....
Kaz- It has been so cold where I am and I have been thinking of you and wondering if it is snowing?
Holly- Hope you had some success this arvo with the pead. That was a good idea to take your Mum
Shell- anout DF likeing you better when you are tired! That made me laugh.
Jols- How did you go today? I actualy made our bed today and then the dogs went and messed it up  dont think i will bother tomorrow. Did you write a list?
Nai- You arent a bad bb buddy. I feel your pain with the overnight feeds.
Raver- how is logan and Bella? I hope you go some help today? How has xdf (is that what we call him??) Has he been concerned? Hope all is going ok there.
Pinny- that is fantastic. :hooray: for sleeping babies!
:hello: to everyone else
ETA Holly & Tarkine we posted at same time.
Holly- great to hear there is an action plan! You go girl!
Tarkine- they are growing up so much. What injections did Alex have? Do they have them at 4 months???
-
Girls I think I have stomach bug. It has come on really quickly. My tummy is aching and spasming. I just had a bath but I think it made it worse. I really am in pain.
-
Is your hubby home? If he can get you biscopan that could help (works for spasms) just not sure bout if it ok with BFing.
-
kaz i dont use the little squirt :hide: i just prerinse in the machine!!
tarkine millie is still in the capsule, i love it too much to not use it!!!
millie had injections tuesday too, is a little clingy today!
ali i hope your tummy is ok  glad you got tp meet another BB member!!
holly make sure you read the instruction with the sucker as you need to block one nostral will you suck the other otherwise it wont work!!
shell hi hun!!
BBL john and kate plus 8 is on..
-
Still painful but I just fell asleep on the lounge and woke up and the pain isnt as bad. Still there but it seems to be in waves. DP isnt home :( I really want some buscopan.
-
ali do you have a heat pack? or peppermint tea?
-
Oh dear Ali - I hope that you are ok. I have a stomache "issue" that I have had since E was born. I get the syptoms that you are explaining at least 4 times a week. A heat pack is a good idea.
AJP - I love J&K+8 so much that I watched this whole season already on youtube. Now I am watching season 5 as it airs in the US as it is usually up on YouTube mby the next day. Did you see that E channel has run a special on all the goss about the alleged affair?? You know they have hit rock bottom when they make E channel. I really thimnk the show has lost it's inncosence. It is just not a good any more.
Holly - the Fess won't work on you. Your nostrils would be too big. I doesn't really work on my 2yo any more, but works well on E.
E is very unsettled tonight/this afternoon. I am not sure what is wrong, but she has been going to bed crying, and I have had to pat her to sleep. Then she is waking crying after one sleep cycle. I haven't had to assist her in settling in about a month now, so I am thinking that she is not feeling well. She has not been so cheerful this arvo either. DH is still sick as a dog. He has been in bed since 3pm, and DS is still not feeling well, and keeps telling me his mouth is sore.
-
Ali - injections are 2mths, 4mths and 6mths :D - hope u feel better soon xxoo.
-
thanks girls. So strange but now the pains are gone, i dont get it....
i did go and lie my belly on the cold tiles in the bathroom, i know it sounds strange but it worked...hmmmm. i just dont want them to come back.
feeding Ash then going to bed xo
-
Jols - I do the same with the pre-rinse at the moment. I find the little squirt doesn't get much of the BM poos off. It works better when they are a bit more 'solid'.
Ali - I hope you are feeling better. I have had a few tummy issues since MIss J was born and sometimes feel really unwell but it passes so I'm not sure what is going on.
We had a bit of a better sleep last night - sown at 7pm, up at 11pm, up at 2.30am and then through to 7am. DP decided to wake me by cuddling me at 6am so I wasn't overly impressed Grrrr!
-
Hi all,
Holly- Glad your finally getting somewhere with the paed app, it's so annoying when all you want is some advice and action plans, Good Luck with it all, hopefully it will all be sorted soon.
AJP- Forgot to Thank you for inviting me to the meet up, How rude of me!!
ShellBell- about bouncing off the walls, i too felt a little hyper!! Even cooked dessert for dinner!! Does not happen very much in our household!!
Kaz- I know what you mean about stinky the nursery out, the other day I kept asking DH and DD if they were farting coz everytime I came into the lounge it stunk!! Finally figured out it was Lewis!! Lots of smell for such a small bum!
Tarkine- I can't believe how fast they are growing too! I'm refusing to take DS out of the bassinet part of pram, he seems to big for it but I don't my baby growing up, at this rate I'll be taking him to kinder in it:lol:
Ali- Hope the stomach bug stays away, personal question but are you using your bowels often, I too have had weird cramping/pain on my right hand side of stomach, went to my GP and he is pretty sure I get it when I'm constipated And when i took note he was right it was when I need to use my bowels, Hope that's not too much info for you!!!
Meg- Hope your household are feeling better soon, not much fun when the men in the house are not well.
Rainbow- Thanks for the welcome
Nai-I know how you feel about getting back into routine, I too don't like it when my days are thrown, always seems like it takes ages to catch up with things,
We are all well, Lewis back to waking up every 3-4 hours overnight, he starts doing some blocks again soon. I think he was just teasing me. Has anyone got any tips on how to get some good burps out of a sleepy baby, I'm sure this is the reason Lewis wakes every 3-4 hours overnight, coz he does not burp once he is asleep, I try getting up and walking, even lie him down for 5 mins then sit him back up but not many burps during the night, during the day he burps like a trooper!
-
Nai - Yay on a better sleep!
Meg - Hope E is more settled today.
Pinny-Mum - My aunt did this thing with Jacob where she laid him across her arm on his belly and supported his chin but he was sitting up, kind of leaning over forwards iykwim? That got some good burps up. I tried it later but it didn't feel comfy for me. We also put Jacob high up on our shoulders, so his belly is over your shoulder and that often works too.
Ali - How're you feeling today mate? I hope that it was a once off thing and hasn't returned. Feeling sick is the absolute pits!
Hi to everyone else! (Sorry girls  I read the thread this afternoon but am only posting now and can't go back any further to refresh my memory!).
AFM - We're having serious issues with nappies leaking overnight here. Jacob still waking a couple of times and I change him each time he wakes/feeds but he is still wetting through. Changed his clothing yesterday in the evening, again at about 1am and again at 9am this morning. He also fed at 5am but hadn't wet through that time. He gets so upset when I have to change his clothing and sleeping bag in the middle of the night (understandably). So I'm on a quest to find the system that works. He previously could go 8 hours overnight in a pocket nappy without leaking but not anymore. Tonight we're trying the Aldi nappies because I've heard they're better than Huggies and I just need a break from constantly changing him (last 4 nights in a row so far) before coming up with a cloth solution (hopefully).
-
hi girls
sorry i've been a bit slack!!
ali-i've been having really bad stomach cramps since ds2 was born too. my gp actually sent me for an u/s as he thought that it was possible i had some retained product from the birth. it turned out it wasn't...so who knows? scarey stuff though. how are you feeling today?
pinneys mum-my ds1 is named lewis so i love that name! we call him lulu :)
ajp-guess what?? jimmy is asleep with a dummy for the first time ever!!! i was inspired from seeing you today!
kaz-are you using huggies? what size?
mm-i'm a bit of a j and k +8 fan too...it makes me feel better about my own chaotic life! :D
-
Kaz - had the same problem with Alex when he was in the newborn nappies - he'd wet everything and we had to change everything 3 or 4 times a night - ended up putting him into bigger sposies earlier and its done the trick - have you tried boosters?
I can't believe our babies are heading towards 4mths old! I'm really feeling this winter - wish I was pregnant again, only to be warm!!
-
Rainy - He's in Greenkids pockets with extra booster insert at night.
Tarkine - Yeah J did that too in the newborn huggies so we moved to the next size, this was before we put him in cloth full time. I'm going back to sposies for a few nights to see if it works. He was wetting through the huggies as well before we switched.
I'm also going to try the pre-folds I made with woollen covers because they might be better than the pockets?
-
Kaz, I use Fuzzibunz pockets with 2 inserts & a booster at night for Miss J and she is good in those for about 5-8 hours. If I am out of cloth (this cold wet weather is making it hard) I use a sposie at that night change. I just got some Aldi ones and they seem to be pretty good.
Tarkine - it's amazing how quickly the time has gone isn't it? Miss J has her 4 month check Monday week.
Miss J had about 3 x 45 min sleeps today and has been mega-cranky so it has been a rough day. DP is still at the pub grrrr!
-
Thanks Nai. I've only been using one insert and a booster but maybe I should try two inserts and a booster. I worry that he'll be sleeping on an incline because of the size of his butt though!! The weather is hard. I had nappies on the line in the sun for the first time in weeks today. Sorry you've had a rough day. Hopefully she'll sleep well for you tonight to make up for it.
Ok - more of a whinge coming. I just changed and fed Jacob - hopefully the last of the day - and he had wet through AGAIN!!! :wall: That's 4 times in 24 hours and he was only in the nappy for just over 2 hours. I swear he's hiding and adult sized bladder in his tiny little body. It came out the leg that time - usually it travels up his back.
So he's in a sposie now - it looks tiny and felt too flimsy compared to cloth but I've forgotten what they're like and I bet it works better.
-
kaz i use aldi nappies overnight, they last millie 12-14 hours she feed 1-2 times and no leaks! i use cloth during the day
tarkine i love winter !!
pinny i'll show you a burbing technique when we catch up again!!
ali hope your feeling better!!
rainy  he must heve decided it wasnt so bad !!
nai hope DP gets home soon!!
ARM nothing new!! saw miss rainy today with J and L which was lovely and two other lovely BB girls, went on a trip to the country and boy was it cold :o i got there and it was 3 and left and it was 6 !! :o
-
kaz was he in a greenkids just then or something else?
-
AJP - Greenkids with just a standard insert only. He was in his basinette and then lying on a play mat and wiggling around a fair bit but still, it was only 2 hours!!
-
mmmmm im not sure how absorbant the greenkids inserts are as they didnt suit sophie, but to leak that mush after two hours isnt good, does he have a good seal around the legs?
-
Usually he does yeah and the wee leaks have always been up his back (I suspect the singlet is to blame by slipping in or next to the opening so the moisture wicks up). I should probably go post in the nappy section.......
-
kaz - I used greenkids with James (when he was a bit older though0 and I found them really good. Have to washed the inserts heaps and heaps to get the absorbency up? I always used a sposie overnight, nad found Huggis suited J best.
Nai - Hoping an unsettled day = a good night.
Pinny - hoping you too get a good night.
Emilia is still awake. She has done this for the past few nights. She is in her room in bed, but not asleep. Gets a little sooky sometimes, so go put the dummy back in. I don't like her staying up so late. She has been having a snooze around 6:30pm. I think I will try and cut it. Feed her a bit earlier and try and put her down for the night. What do you think?
-
Hey Meg, thanks for that. I was really impressed with GKs and have 14 of them so I'm hoping I can work this out!!
You can try to change Es night routine - it might work, but it might not too. Can't do much harm to try. At least she is happy and not screaming. I'm sure it will pass.
-
Kaz - I wil lgive it a try tomorrow.
11 pm and I am still wide awake. I know I wil lbe tired in the morn if I don't got osleep, but I am not tired. Does anyone else feel really tired all day and then when kids go to bed, find you get a second wind? (yes Det I know YOU def do!!!)
-
hey girls - Levi and i just got back from margies with my besties- had an awesome nite as per usual and my man was an absolute angel as usual!
hey kaz
just an idea- make sure Mr J's winkie is tucked down when you put his nappy on- stops the up the back wees
if he is leaking heaps still you can alway put a sanitry pad in his nappy so that soaks up the wee as well and stops him getting wet- plus you can stick the pad where the wee tends to go!
One way to get rid of left over materinty pads lol
Levi can go 12 hours in a huggies sposie no probs
DS1 use to wee heaps as well and use to have to change him heaps overnite as well
Levi is a nite party boy as well meggiemoppit- goes down between 11pm and 12am but then sleeps for a bit of a block- last nite he slept from 12am straight through till 7.30am- whoot about that!
i wonder where he gets his nite energy from lol
twins had curriculum day today and i survived- making a conscious effort to pick my battles better- they are as sick of me yelling as i am at yelling at them. we went out and that makes so much of a difference
i am actually going to go to bed early tonite! gonna head off shortly whoot
although no guarantee of sleep for a bit as - MY MOJO is BACK!!!!! whoot!!!
ok TMI for you guys lol as i crawl back under my rock
nite!!!!
-
Well last night was reasonable - Miss J went down at 7.30, up at 12.30 and 5 then awake at 7.30. I had her in an Aldi sposie and it lasted 12 hours with no change so they seem good. On a bright note DD1 woke up with a dry nappy asking to go to the toilet - yay!
DP got home about 10 and at 10.30 was wanting DTD - needless to say he wasn't successful  My mojo is still MIA and not looking like returning any time soon :(
-
nai  about DP!! ive lost mine too!! we have DTD 3 times but not exactly the most enjoyable 3 times!!
kaz have you got any microfibre?? id pop some of that on top of the bamboo booster as it absorbs faster while the bamboo is slower.
meg millie has her last sleep around 5 ish bath at 6 and bed 6.30/6.45
det glad you survived the kids off all week!! hope you get some good sleep tonight!!
AFM crap night sleep, i couldnt sleep :( i think all up i got 4.5 hrs of broken sleep :( millie was great up twice, sophie awke 4 times ...grrrrrr. so tired today
-
Sounds like here AJP. J was up twice, and E woke at 5. stuck the dummy back in and she is still asleep now. (thats because she goes to sleep so late at niight)
-
Thanks Kaz,I tried that burping technique and sort of worked coz he got the hicups which seemed to settle him.
We had an ok night but woke four hourly so still no big blocks of sleep
AJP- look forward to seeing the burping technique.
We put Lewis in a aldi nappy overnight but don't usually get to try out it's absorbency coz he poos mist feeds anyhow, but last night he was in it from 10pm till 8am and had only done big wees, no leaks though. Although I too can be changing Lewis in the night he sometimes just leaks not sure of the reason and does it in all types of sposies coz that what we use here.
Rainforest- Lewis is getting a bit more common i think, how old is your lewis, i have not shortened it yet but sore we will.
We are going to get family potraits done this afternoon, and Lewis has just scatched his eye:doh:
Better go got to wash my hair too.
-
Forgot to sat Jols hope you get to have a Nanna nap today, is DH home???:D
-
Hey girls - dry night here whoohooo!! Go aldi nappies!
Det - we do point the willy south LOL!! worked that one out before he was a week old! Never thought of using pads but will keep it in mind ta.
AJP - Yeah I have a few microfibre inserts. Will give them a go. Plan to try lots of different combinations because I'd prefer not to use disposables at all if we can help it. Don't you hate it when you can't sleep? I've been doing that too lately - lying awake thinking after a feed
Nai - Whoohoo on your DD1. That's awesome!
AFM - Friends are coming up this afternoon. It was all a bit last minute and we had trouble confirming they were actually, definitely coming but it seems they are so I've spent all morning tidying up, cleaning and cooking lunch. I keep asking myself why I'm bothering because they know we have Jacob and they're good friends and I'm sure they don't expect a tidy or clean house but I couldn't stop myself :wall: DP is out cutting wood so it feels like a weekday :(
-
AJP & Megie, oops I didn't read the instructions properly on the suction thingy! I didn't block the other nostril (duh!) and didn't realise it wouldn't work on an adult  Tried it again on L and it worked a lot better.
Ali, glad you're feeling better. Ouch cold tiles!
Kaz, hope you find a solution with the nappies. L has been wearing BBH fitted with the longer booster folded in half so it's doubled. He has never leaked or wet through to his clothes, although we've only been using them for about 5 days! I change him at every feed though, so every 3 or so hours. I'm constantly checking it - so paranoid he'll get nappy rash from having a wet nappy! He was previously using huggies infant size and rarely leaked through those either. Hope you have a good day with your friends over.
Nai, good to hear you DP wasn't too late and J had a decent night. Lol at DP wanting to dtd - did he have a sook?
Megie, sounds like a good plan for Miss E.
Det, glad you had a good day with the twins. LOL at getting no sleep - I'm sure your DH appreciates it! My DP was wanting to dtd on Wednesday night but I was in no mood - soo tired. He had a bit of a sook and fell asleep! We only sleep in the same bed/room on his days off, the other nights I sleep downstairs with L so we don't disturb him. So I feel a bit bad because we don't spend much time together but whatever, he lasted the whole pregnancy with lack of action so he'll be okay lol.
AJP, that's great that you've got a routine down pat. L's sleeps are based around his feeds really. I'm just demand feeding, but if he's wanting a feed less than 2.5 hours since the last one, I try to hold off until it's been 2.5hours just for the sake of his tummy. He can sleep at any hour of the day/night - nothing is "normal". Wish I had a routine!
Pinny-mum, hope the portraits go well! Poor Lewis!
AFM, L has been doing the screaming in pain thing again. Just totally inconsolable, screaching, comes out of the blue like something is jabbing him - tears and everything! :( If it continues I'm going to take him to emergency. I know a little boy who did the same thing and they found out he had a twisted bowel. It sorted itself out eventually, but the first 2 years of his life he just screamed. L's nose is still the same, can't breathe properly. I spend so much time pulling the skin away (not off!) from his nostril so as to open it up more. It's such a pita. If it weren't for his nose being blocked and his sore tummy, I'm sure we'd have it so easy. It's so hard at the moment, I am JUST coping and I feel so sorry for him. Looking forward to seeing the ENT specialist. L's paed left a message for him on Thursday and said he would hopefully be able to see us on Monday but we still haven't heard back  I really wish we could enjoy these first few months, but I find myself wishing the time away and wanting L to be older so he can be over all these problems :(
Sorry for the depressing post!
-
pinny hope the photos went well, im sure i'll get to see them soon!! no nanna nap for me today!
kaz definatly try the microfibre!!
nai i gave up cloth overnight for millie a while ago! too cold to change during the night, im lazy!! and now that shes not pooing as often i only use one!
hows DP feeling this morinng?
holly poor leon he really has it tough the poor bugger :( i hope the ENT guy can see you ASAP.
im buggered :( hope to get an early night tonight! millie has been asleep for over 2 hours now!
-
whoohoo on the sleep AJP - can you nap now too?
Holly - You poor thing. Have you got supportive people irl? You and L have had such a rough trot so far. It's hard to enjoy them when there are other issues you're dealing with isn't it? I hope you're having a good weekend.
Friends arrived. Are now out driving around the countryside with my DP. J needed to sleep so I didn't go and wanted the break. They know vaguely I had a rough time having J but she still asked about 5 mins into the visit "Did you have a c-section or did you push him out?". I found it so insensitive and didn't know how to respond at all. Quickly changed the subject and now I feel really upset about it but I'm not sure quite why. Do you guys get asked about how you delivered a lot? Seems I get asked all the time. I've started another thread about it because I think I could be over reacting.
-
pinny mum- my lewis is 20 months old and he's gorgeous!
kaz- ikwym about being asked about the birth a lot. when people found out my ds1 was 10lbs3oz they were obsessed with knowing whether i had a c/s or vb.
holly-sorry you're having such a rough trot
-
awww Kaz- hugs hun
people cant mind their own damm business!! I use to get asked Heaps of questions about the twins-esp about their conception! Like it is anyones business. It use to pee me off heaps- esp strangers that thought it was their right to know how my twins were conceived etc. then they would state the most stupidist things like are they identical?- hmm they are b/g- and then they would say so are they IVF- who cares!!!!!
Its funny now just having a singleton- people seem to allready know how he was conceived! DOH
I really think if you could talk to someone about your birth experiences- let it out etc then maybe it would be easier to talk about hun! Maybe even write it down.
I had a really traumatic time after my twins were born- they only had 10% and 20% chance of survival and it took me ages to come to terms with what had happened- it was so much that went on that my body and mind blocked out heaps and it took the medicos and my DH to fill in the gaps for me! I found writing my story down helped me heaps. I actually wrote it down and had it published in a multiple birth Ass. book. My protection was that i did it anon. that was my defense mechanism so that i had control in who i told and who i didnt!
I AM SOO BORED AND CANT BE BOTHERED TODAY- it aint funny
!!!!
grrr
back later 3 screaming kids!!!
-
Kaz- I'm sure they weren't trying to be insensitive, I think its all part questions everyone seems to want to know, like what yr labour was like, are you still breast feeding, I know I have been guilty of asking these things even when it is none of my business. I don't think your over reacting, you still hold feelings about everything you went thru, they prolly don't realise that.
Holly- I really hope things start to sort themselves out, ikwym about wishing the time away, I felt like that when we had a rough time with Emily and its sad to feel like that. I hope the paed fits you in soon you don't want to have to keep going on like this.
Meg- yep thats like me, i'll be tired then get 2nd wind, then have trouble sleeping.
Emily is too good at grabbing, she'll crack the poos cause her dummy is out and when I go look for it its in her hand, gripping on tightly. Lol.
-
shell you want to bunk up together at the meet up in QLD next year??? you too miss Ali?? and anyother feb ladies!!!!!
