AJP - I don't mind winter in Brisbane! I hate it when the max temperature is 4 degrees during the day and its overcast and a negative wind chill factor off the snowfields. Today was a heatwave.. think it made it to double digits.
Holly - i'd be off to the drs.
Kaz - I don't get many people asking me about the delivery - I tell them that he came out the sunroof because he didn't want to come out. If they ask more questions, I tell him that his heart was faltering and a few times it was so low the machine didn't record it - that shuts them up asking any other questions. I'm pretty offhanded with it, but then I've got a lot of skeletons in my closet that I don't talk to people about... and I don't want to think about the sound of his heart on the monitor, fading away and then getting stronger between contractions.
-
Kaz - it's hard but sometimes people ask without thinking especially if they haven't ever been through it. They are usually sorry if they ask me though as they get the whole graphic details of my rupturing uterus and how the scar burst in theatre when the OB touched it and the fluid all spurted out onto the floor. They generally stop asking questions after that - give them more than they really want and they shut up ;)
Jols - I am a bit the same at the moment. If I dress Miss J after her bath I put her is a sposie as I'm too lazy but DP insists on the clothie however he never gets up to change her during the night.
Holly - I hope Leon is ok. Glad you got the snorter thing sorted! DP didn't sook but he has a tally that he needs to reach before they retest him to make sure he has no swimmers left after the snip. I keep telling him that he can do it himself
AFM - I had a catch up with some old school friends at a pub this afternoon. I have my 20 year reunion later this year so it was a bit freaky! Fun though.
Jols - I am a maybe for the Qld meet so maybe we should think about an apartment or something?
-
 4 is cold!! last time it was 4 here it snowed!!
i saw some BB girls friday (miss rainy was one of them) and it was only 6!!
nai 20 years!! wow! thas scary!! glad you had a great time!
kaz for some reason women seem to want to beat their fists on their chest to somewhat prove *something* we all seem to be in competition with each other :dunno: not sure why we cant just support one another and forget that motherhood/childbirth isnt a competition
-
AJP- Yep I'll be in on that. And mum3girls from my sep group also looking to bunk with us too. Think it takes 6 yeah? We should also try get flight together.
I better add that I don't want to book too soon tho in case something comes up? A year is quite a long way away.
-
sounds like a plan shell!! woot im excited its only 12 months away!!
pinny, kaz, nai, tarkine, laura, meg you want to come to QLD?
-
Wow to be honest AJP I'm blown away about the meet up what a great idea!!
After having a particularly bad afternoon the thought of getting away excites me:dance:
Will have to make a really tentative booking at this stage but I guess what I'm saying is don't count me out just yet!!!
Kaz I agree with Jols, & can sympathise with you about the way your feeling, don't beat yourself up on it, sounds like you yourself handled yourself well in the moment. Some ppl just don't get it.
Be back later. Lewis still not asleep, thinks it's party time, about to feed him again!!!
-
be great if you could come pinny!! you;ll love it!
so we have
shell
mum2girls
me
im off to bed ladies, so exhausted!!
pinny hope lewis goes to sleep soon!
-
Hi girls,
Thanks for the hugs. I need them tonight. I have decided she is just totally emotionally insensitive because although I gave three clear signals that I didn't want to discuss it in detail earlier after they got here, she came back to the topic over dinner when it was just us at the table to ask "so what exactly happened?" :wall: and :o So I dodged it again. I'm just not up to discussing it with people I don't feel close to. They are good friends but we hardly see them these past few years. She just came across as so nosy about it. I think it's mainly my issue though as people will ask and I need to be able to respond and move on without getting myself in a tizz. I just don't get why it's important to anyone else outside my family.
Anyway - enough of that. Whats this meetup in Qld? I think I may have missed something.
Pinny-mum - Jacob thinks it's party time too atm
-
So chatty today girls! :)
Kaz-the nappies sound like they are a bit of a nightmare at the moment, hope you can get a solution, until then at least the Aldi nappies are working. We use Huggies but am thinking of buying some aldi as i have heard good things about them. Hope you had fun with the guests over and actually got to enjoy yourself.
Jols- I will prob be at the meet up next year but will most likely stay at my parents house with DD and DP, but will let you know closer to the time.
Nai- sounds like a good day. LOL at your dp! They have no idea sometimes
Pinny- Hope Lewis gets to sleep soon
BBL DD is awake.
-
Jols - yep am up for Qld if I can talk DP around to it ;)
-
I too would be up for QLD. Sounds like a plan. I just haveto make sure it is not when we are going to malaysia with my sis and her hubbie. (hor hubbie is malaysian)
Kaz- I think Det makes a good point. You might feel better about writing it down. I also don't think thatt you need to answer anything to anyone if you don't want to though. Funny no one has asked me about my births.
Holly - I really hope yo uget in to the ENT on Monday. Don't feel bad for wishing the months away.
Pinny - I hope Lewis has goneto sleep now.
Ok I have emailed everyone about the meet up on THurs. I thought we should add our mobile numbers and if we are bringing older siblings etc. THat way if someone is running late etc, we can let someone know.
Oh - did I tell you all that a friend (well in fact DH's cousin) just won $100,000 in the Coles giveaway. how awesome!
-
Im back
Kz- massive hugs. I am sure she isnt intentionally trying to hurt you but she should have known after the first time to back of  Have you told DP about your feelings and the birth? I think its important that you talk to someone to get things off your chest (not sure if it would help or not) but seeming he was there and is someone who you trust, it might be good to sit down one night and have a talk. I am sure he would be very nurturing of the way that you feel.
Meg- that is so cool that someone you know won some money from the coles giveaway. I am constantly flashing my fly bys so am hoping we might get lucky. You have given me hope!
-
Meg I just registered for the coles giveaway! My mum has been pestering me to do it for all of us for ages now...opps! I hope I haven't missed the boat! How exciting about your DH's cousin!!!
Kaz, your friend sounds so nosy. There's no way any of my friends, nor family would keep pressing for details of the birth! Ask once, yes probably, but just as a general conversation starter and then move on! l know it probably would have made things awkward, but I would have told her, somewhat politely, that you don't feel up to discussing your birth experience - say it didn't go to plan, but how can you plan these things anyway! He came out the way he wanted to, end of story.
By the way, I do have a very supportive family. Last night I ended up taking L to the Children's emergency department & my mum came with me. His case wasn't urgent enough - they weren't going to call an ENT surgeon to come and remove the haemangioma right then and there...I guess I didn't expect them to, I'm not even sure why I went! I was just given a referral to the same ENT paed I'm hoping to see and told to call him on Monday and the appointment should be fast-tracked. I noticed L's nostril was bleeding a bit after being seen to last night and his breathing miraculously seemed really clear and unblocked so I thought the haemangioma might have ruptured while the doctor was looking at it, clearing his nose a bit. However, it seems quite blocked again this morning :wall: Will call the ENT paed tomorrow, there's really not a lot I can do :(
Shell, I'm glad it's not just me who has that feeling of wanting the time to go faster. I feel so awful. My mum was trying to reassuring me that it's very normal to feel that way in the first few months, and it's hard to enjoy them all of the time. You love them, but that doesn't mean they don't send you batty some of the time! Bless her!
Nai, yes I'd be telling DP he can up the tally himself!
AFM, well as mentioned above, we spent a few hours last night at the RCH, so I'm pretty tired, DS didn't get his first night sleep until after midnight and woke up twice after that, once at 2:30am and then again at 5:45am, then was restless on off sleep until 9:30am and he's been up since.
Ohh and what's this about a QLD meetup?? Would be lovely, but knowing my luck something would come up.
So much washing to do. I got overambitious yesterday and did a few loads but then didn't have enough room to hang everything out - damn nappies! So one load sat in the basket all day and night and now it smells funny so have to rewash it grrr!!
Have a great Sunday all xox
-
Holly - I really hope they get you in to the ENT soon.
I had a shocker night last night. J was up screaming for 4 hours! woke around 1am, and finally got back to sleep at 5am. He kept waking E up in the process so I gave up at 4:30am, and went into the spare room with her. Now I have a stiff sore arm for sleeping wrong. I went back to bed and DH got up with the kids. I woke at 9am, and thought I will get up in a min, closed my eyes for a second, look at the clock at it is 10:30. I think to myself I will get up now, close my eyes for a sec, and it was 11:30. I am up now though. Feel terrible as I have now overslept.
-
Holly, I hope you get in to see the ENT soon. Spending the night at the RCH is no fun at all!
Meg, sounds like a rough night. I hope you day improves!
AFM - we actually had a better night last night as Miss J went down at 7pm, woke at 3.40am and back down until 7am. However, she is only doing 20 minute catnaps today - win some, lose some it seems!
-
Holly- I can not even begin to imagine how hard it is for you at the moment, you are doing such a good job and all you can for L. I wish I could be more help.
Meg- Was J havng nightmares? You poor thing. I am feeling your pain of being awake in those early hours. It is jsut awful.
AFM- Shocking night. A is now back to cluster feeding in the early hours. Last night we fed 5 times between 11am and 5am. Thats almost once every hour. I was so frustrated and my nipples were hurting but she wouldnt settle for the dummy only for boobie. So at 5am I decided to put a dvd on in the bedroom with Ash attatched to me and we managed to fall asleep. Somehow on the weekends all routines get shoved out the window on the weekend and trouble starts up.
ETA Nai- that is good you had a better night.
-
Meg - What a night you had! I hate that groggy overslept feeling too. Hopefully it will disappear as the day continues.
Ali - Aldi nappies are "the poo" We've had two dry nights here and I'm feeling brave enough to risk a GK nappy with microfibre insert on top of the bamboo tonight.
Nai - That's an awesome sleep Miss J had. I guess she doesn't need much sleep this morning after that effort!! She might sleep longer this arvo for you. Mr. J only woke for one feed last night again which was good. Hope it continues.
Holly - I know you feel like you're not doing much but you're doing heaps - just by continually bringing him in front of health professionals until they do something is a big thing. Taking him last night was worth it if it means your referral gets fast tracked. That's great you've got supportive family. How is your sister doing?
AJP - I hope you had a good sleep last night darl, given how tired you were yesterday. I'm really interested in coming to Qld but would have to discuss it with DP first. He might want to come too since he's also a BB member ;) I take it that it's an adult meet up?
Thanks for your support guys. I am feeling better about it all today. Had a good cry to DP last night after they left. The trouble is that I have talked to DP about it, and the community nurse twice and I've written some things down and it still really upsets me. I've been taken by surprise a few times now with those questions so I think I need to work out what I'm going to say in advance because it will surely happen again. Sometimes it depends on who is asking, the situation and how it's asked. When I think about it, those friends yesterday are pretty self absorbed at times and they don't really think about others. For example they came out for the afternoon/evening which was a big effort for them but they only brought a bottle of wine. I fed them twice (lunch and dinner) and then was left to clean up the kitchen and do the washing up. Perhaps I expect too much of others.
-
Oh I am such a bad baby buddy :(
I find it hard to type in here during the day bc I have DD asleep in my arms and when I type she wants to wake up and I take so long trying to catch up that she's awake before I finish, lol. Usually I can catch up on the weekends at least bc DH can look after her but this weekend DH is working :(
Obviously DD is still sleeping in the HAB, don't know when that's going to change but I'm just going with it, I couldn't be bothered fighting it anymore, lol. I think we were having another growth spurt the last couple of days because she's been feeding constantly.
My MCN venture is going great and I'm going to go full time!! They are so cute how could I resist!!
Well, that's my update!!
-
Heaven- I hope you are finding some time for yourself in between all that feeding and carrying. The bigger they get the more awkward it is to do things. I go out with Emily in th HAB on fridays for coffee and getting harder to drink it!
Kaz- You don't expect too much, if I went and had lunch and dinner somewhere I'd demand to do dishes or help tidy up, esp if they have a child. I can understand them asking yuou once about it but not to keep going. Do you think you'd benifet from going to a councillor to talk over these things? Esp if you find yourself getting quite upset about it.
:grouphug: to all those having bad nights, is it a full oon or something cause we had a shocker night too, all blur now cause I'm half asleep when trying to settle her.
-
kaz i also think childbirth is something we all like to talk about and hear about, i know i do :hide: but people also need to learn to take a hint and stop asking!!
did you use the GK tonight on jacob?
the QLD meet is going to be an annual event, next year is QLD, kid free!!
oh and yes they should help to clean up, how rude!
meg wow 100K i wish!! hoping tonight is a better one for you
holly gee ihope you get a call tomorrow for the ENT i cant image how hard it must be knowing leon is distressed
ali have you stopped wrapping ashlyn?? maybe go back to wrapping for a few days and see if that helps!
nai you had a good one last night!! hope tonight is just as good!!!
sara rainy is having the same issues with day sleeps with jimmy, he likes to sleep in the HAB, maybe have a chat with her and you rnot a bad buddy!
ARM went to bed early last night, millie woke at 11pm and 4.30am just after i put millie back to bed sophie fell out of bed !! we took the side rail off last thursday, so i had her crying but she went back to sleep ok, she also woke us coughing at 2.30am, sooooo still tired, just need more bigger blocks of sleep!!! heading to bed tonight by 9pm!!
-
hi!
sorry i banned myself from BB again! i have lots to catch up on!
I can see a few of you need seom  .... xx
AJP - im rooming with antheia and the other girls!!!! if i had of read this thread before i would have been in for sure
xxxx
-
arrhh you should have come in here first!! bummer!
-
-
AJP - we are heading off to the USA, I think..maybe.. possibly.. not sure... next year - for the space shuttle launch (yep we are uber nerds in this household), so QLD might be outta the question... but ask me next week and we'll probably be doing something else **sigh**
Kaz - hun did you write up your birth story on BB? that might help you come to terms with what happened - helped me :D .. or you could just write it down on a piece of paper, and how you feel and why you feel that way and then burn it, as a bit of a cleansing exercise?
I think its pretty rude for people to poke and prod about what happened. Ohh  for the friend who came over to sus out where things are with you at the mo.. I had one of those come over and she just talked at me for 7hrs, telling me how she had three blokes to choose from .. ones enough for me!!
AFM - DH is in one of his moods - told me off yesterday for not being talkative with a GF of mine - he hogged the conversation.. i cracked a mental at him for not doing stuff around the house, so I guess we are even  Alex spends at least 4hrs a day sucking the boobie.. I have no life.
-
Sorry - double post
-
Oh Tarkine - big  darl. I feel like I have no life either! And I don't feel as talkative when we're in social situations as well anymore. Not sure if it's just being too tired or whether it's because I feel like I have nothing to say to people anymore that isn't Jacob related. Hope your DH helps you out more.
Ok this might make you laugh girls. I was brave and put Jacob back in a cloth nappy last night. It was a GK with a normal insert, a booster insert and a microfibre insert on top. He was in it from around 9pm to 1am when he woke for a feed. I sat him up to burp him after he fed the first side and he wee'd out the leg and ALL OVER ME!!! :wall: He also got himself of course. I'd taken his sleeping bag off cause I thought he might be too hot. I don't know what's going on with his bladder atm. I'm probably putting some of you off cloth - they are really good we're just having issues overnight atm. So it was straight back into an Aldi while DP got up to bring me fresh PJ pants!
Quick question - he woke me at 8:30am this morning (also fed at 5:30am) grumbling and grunting in his basinette. I didn't go near him with a dummy like normal but got up and did a couple of things. He was staring at his hand and other things in his field of vision. Just went back in there now and he's fallen asleep again. Is it ok to leave him do you think? I always feed him when he wakes in the morning because the minute he knows I'm around he demands it. Perhaps he doesn't need this feed though? Could he have fallen asleep hungry?
-
kaz - he wouldnt fall asleep if he was hungry so dont stress :) xxx
-
Thanks RR.
Has anyone elses baby turned into a poo factory overnight or is it just mine?
J got up at 12. I changed him (wet) then fed. Then right after the feed he did a massive poo. Just as much poo was inside the nappy as outside (between the nappy and the cover) and I could hardly see any nappy on either side! Got it everywhere trying to change him so it was a change of clothes as well. Then we read a story. Right after that he did another poo that escaped outside the cover so it was another full change. Today he's been in bamboo fleece pre-folds that I made and PUL covers. Then I picked him up and he spewed on himself and all over my shoulder :wall:
It's seriously doing my head in. Please tell me your bubbas are doing the same thing? Feels like every nappy change involves leaks!
-
Kaz - I have a poo factory too! I think she leaked 3 times on the weekend which is really unusual. She is also really chucky. She is sucking her thumb heaps so swallowing a lot of saliva which is coming up - bleh! I can feel lumps on her bottom gum and can see 2 white lines there so I am pretty sure there are some teeth coming fairly soon. I am putting down the above symptoms to teething so I hope that they really are there
-
Kaz- Ash does poo alot but we re using huggies and havent had any probs. We occsasionally get a bit of poo leakage out the side of the leg but its normally if DP hasnt put the nappy on properly. hopefully some clothie girls can help. I would contact the person you are buying them from and tell them about the probs as well.
Jols- We started wrapping Ash again when we moved her to the cot a couple of weeks ago also its warmer for her. She still wakes up. last night wasnt as bad but it was still 3 times between 11:30 and 7:30
dd's DD fussing on my boob heaps
-
Oh god Nai I hope Jacob isn't teething yet! His cheeks were rosy the other day and he has been drooling heaps and the poo is so runny. Can't even see any milk curds in it anymore. I thought the drooling was a developmental thing?
SNAP Ali! J is fussing heaps too. No longer screaming but more interested in staring at stuff around him.
-
gee kaz your not having a good run with the poos/wee/vomit
and i wouldnt worry about him falling back to sleep! millie often does the same!!
nai teeth already!!! :o scary!!!
me cried twice thsi morning all before 9.30am!! mums taken sophie fir the arvo as she has a cold and so does she, just hope i dont get it.
sophie woke 4 times last night, shes doing my head in! millie woke the normal 2 times and went straight back to sleep
ETA the no curds is because j is using your milk very effectively!!!
ali i figured millie was fussing because i was feeding her too often  only took a week to figure that one out
-
I think he's just done another one
ETA: Yup! At least this one didn't escape the nappy. That's 4 changes in 90 minutes :o I've just put him down. Hopefully if he goes to sleep he'll stop pooing!
Sorry you're having a rough day AJP. Will you get that arvo nap now that DD1 is at your mums?
-
Nai- Omg!!! I cant believe that she might be almost ready to cut some teeth!! Scary! :o
Jols- you poor thing. As Heaven said in her other thread, I have no idea how you girls cope with more than one. Hope Sophie gets better soon and glad your mum was able to help out. You need a block of chocolate! Maybe I am over feeding her. She certainly is packing on the kilos (like her mum  ) I try to replace with the dummy but she will only settle for the boob. Although I am noticing because I am lying down feeding her I dont think she is feeding properly and having a full feed each time she wakes.
Tarkine- I feel like I have nothing else to talk about anymore other than babies, I am trying to read the paper each day online or watch the tv so that I can at least keep up with the news. I am feeling that I am getting boring. Oh and DP is making remoarks being the sow of the family! WTF! I know he is only joking but i am sensitive at the moment about being overweight ands always feeding Ash. :(
How often are you girls all feeding during day and night? We tend to go 3 hourly during the day, sometimes 3.5hours. And at night we have a long 6 hour patch and then cluster feeds.
-
thanks for the hug ali!! ive cracked a block of choccy already!!
forgot to say had millie weighed today and she's 6.2kg!!
ali for feeds during the day was 2 hourly but im going back to 3 hourly or as she demands it abd overnight its anything from 4-8 hours inbetween, we still feed twice a night, last night it was 6.30pm then straight into bed, 12.15am and 4.30am
 kaz 4 poos in 90 mins that must be a record!!
no sleep actually going to go to mothers group, though i could have just had a sleep as millie is been asleep for 90 mins
-
Holly -Are you coming to the meet up on THursday?
AJP - Maybe Sophie and J should hang out toghether, as he is up in the night too!
Ali - Emilia is feeding between every 3-4 hours by day. By night she goes 10 hours (ish) between feeds.
J was a lot better last night. He woke twice. Once at 11 and once at 1:30. I amsked him if he wanted to dog to sleep on his bed and this cheered him up, so tonight I will put her on the bed again. (not something I like doing, but it makes him happy) Mis E slept till 5:30 then went back down till about 9:30, so all in all I am a lot more rested.
I am going to take the kidlets for along walk in the sunshine this arvo. Make the most of the nice day.
-
Jols - can you walk to mothers' group? The fresh and air and sunshine can do wonders (even if it is freezing!!).
Ali - don't worry you are still interesting. It's just that you are a bit preoccupied at the moment with a tiny human. Your interests will return.
I am freaking about the teeth a bit but have been expecting them as DD1 got them at almost 5 months and I got them at 3 months so we have early teething genes. I just hope they come through and don't torment poor Miss J by hanging around under the gum for ages. She isn't happy about them at all!
-
Wow - Early teeth Nai - Hopefully get them all over and done with early.
-
meg i think they should hang out!! hoping once the cold goes so will the night waking!!
nai nah too far!!!! plus its hilly here and seriously couldnt muster the energy! still waking for missy to wake, she sleeps so well when sophie isnt here
-
Meg, nah I won't be coming. To be honest I didn't realise it was this week! Just too hard to get out of the house at the moment, wish I had the energy though and L was more settled :(
At least J settles sleeping with the pooch!
AJP, have a good time at MG. Hope the outing lifts your spirits!
Nai, eek, early teether! L is drooling a lot too, plus rosy cheeks so I'm not sure if he's getting them either...will have a feel of his gums later!
Kaz, wow what a poop machine you have there! L has started doing more curdy poos lately, after doing the runny, pumpkin-soup-like ones. Not sure what it all means. He usually has one pooey nappy a day, sometimes 2 and sometimes one every second day!
Ali, we are demand feeding, so whenever he wants it. Usually pretty close to 2.5hourly day & night. Wish I could get a decent block of sleep! And give DP a slap from me for the insensitive comment! You are doing a beautiful job nursing your baby, he's probably jealous because he can't!
Tarkine, I feel boring too. And like I have nothing in common with my friends anymore :( Doesn't help that I'm still invited out but I never have time/energy/sanity to go.
Gotta go, L is screaming in his swing. Between the screams and the bloody swing music I'm going crazy!
xox
