:confetti: dan so glad vic is home!! my family has been thru the meningitis thing with my 1/2 bro, im so glad it turned out better for you than us

poopie- wat sort of infection did u end up having in ur boobie? i hav had blocked milk ducts thanks to mr c not feeding properly due to being off-colour but MIL (lactation consultant and midwife:dance:) suggested having a heat pack on the blocked ducts before they get infected and the massaging in towards the nipple with the handle of DF's electric shaver (the vibration apparently is good for unblocking)

this will just be a quick one, i have a grouchy bum on my hands. mr c's rash almost went away and then flared up again worse than before, but cant track down whats set it off. its clearing up again now after a couple of oatmeal baths and sweet almond oil massages but it means that ive had a unhappy, unsettled baby on my hands with DF barely home cos some s**t is going down at work so hes been working longer hours and its not looking like changing anytime soon despite promises that it was going to :wall:

but on the upside i bought 2 pairs of new jeans yesterday cos my hips seem to have spread cos despite me being at prebaby weight my prebaby jeans wont do up. not really fussed tho, not that i can complain about shopping :D

hokay its boobie time again apparently, im off, hope everyone has been getting some sleep and me time.

Erica, how's things going without DH there? My DH is the heaviest sleeper and never hears any of our kids when they wake at night so its all up to me.

cmarfol - you're lucky you're back to your pre-pregnancy weight. I've lost some weight but still need to lose more.

We have a wedding next Saturday and I have absolutely nothing to wear and coz I had a c/s I can't drive yet so I have to get DH to take me shopping during the week. Its going to be a nightmare I can tell coz DH hates shopping plus we'll have the kids with us. I will feel rushed and end up buying something Im not happy with.

elf- i didnt put much weight on, i was a basketball tummy on legs with massive water retention lol.
leigh- oh no dont stress! just do wat i do and get DF to go and get a coffee or something (with the kids) and organise to meet up once u have found something u like.

i had a really bad day on satuerday, mr c was very restless and i was on the verge of tears all day. to make matters worse i had finally got mr c to sleep for a little while and DF (who had to work grr) got home and went and got him up :wall: and i couldnt get him back to sleep for hours!! it sorta just topped off my week of him coming home and going straight on the computer or just watching tv, didnt appreciate me telling him he might as well not be home if thats all he was going to do and yes i did understand work was very busy and stressful at the moment.

but on the upside i finally got around to starting using fluff and man they are so much better than disposables!! and im getting more in the mail soon :D

cmarfol, wish I didnt put much weight on. With all my pregnancies I carried my weight all over. I managed to get something for the wedding today. What fluff are you using for Mr C? I use mcn's for DD2 & would love to use them on Lexie too but need some small enough to fit her. I get cranky sometimes too when my DH comes home from work & gets on the computer or watches tv. I feel like I do everything for our kids at times.

We took Lexie to the dr for a check up today, she now weighs 3.4kg & everything is going well.

Better go, DD2 is pulling stuff out of the pantry.

Leigh, Rumparoos might fit, I think they're the smallest osfm. We have the same problem with Abi, even the small covers I got her are too big. I've got some xs Thirsties covers coming so I can stop buying sposies.

That weight has its reasons though - after baby I can eat like a horse (or rather I starve to death if I don't) and still lose weight ... if I didn't put on all that fat I wouldn't have the hours in the day to eat in!

I know where that fat is going though. DS has already grown an extra chin and is starting to develop leg rolls :)

Meanwhile I'm stomping around the house in shockingly ill-fitting clothes, waiting for another inch or two to go off my tummy so I fit into non-maternity jeans ...

lol rump, I know what you mean about the ill fitting clothes! It's like we are too big to fit into normal clothes but too small for maternity clothes, and to think we've lost weight so why would we want to wear maternity clothes anyway?!

leigh - I've been using monkey doodlez AIO(small) and they seem to fit pretty well, as well as flanelette fitteds and fleece covers for the night times when Harlee sleeps longer.

cmar - how great is the fluff?!!?! :D:D when the mil comes over she tries forcing the sposies on me because I 'shouldn't make more work for myself' pfft! They are so easy to clean too, I thought it would be harder than this, but instead of taking a load of rubbish down to the bin 3 times a day, I just hang a small load of washing up. same hard work really! In the end they say it must have been mastitis that I had, it just took a while to go away, but I have been using heat compress before I feed and cold compress, or cabage leaves after I feed. It seems to work well when I can do that!

Well Im being treated to a massage today, I expressed my first lot of milk and got 80ml, I felt like a dairy cow, its only incase of emergency because the massage is in between feeds. My boobs have never felt so empty as I did it after a feed and it felt like I drained them of everything they had!
So is anybody doing this routine thing? Alot of people I talk to say I need to get into a routine. I didn't think that needed to happen?
The unwanted advice just keeps coming from everybody, Yes I have no idea what I am doing, but you dont need to tell me what to do!!!
And also does anybody have any tips for getting there little one to sleep? Harlee likes to have her 'wake time' from 12am to 2.30am and it is driving us insane, she wont let us just cuddle her in bed either, she wants to walk around and do things ..arg!!

We were told not to let him sleep too long during the day, wake him up and try and keep him up a bit during the day so he sleeps better at night. I'm finding he has one or two really awake patches per day and he really does sleep better at night when those patches are now (there's googly eyes watching me as I type) and late afternoon. I'm actually getting juuuuuust enough sleep - I'm cosleeping and BF lying down, so I just doze off while feeding. He makes so many snorting noises in his cot he wakes me up and I end up grabbing him too early, it would be great for him to have his own room but since there's no space, he's in our bedroom. There's really nowhere else we can put him.

Depends on the baby though - this one is fine and easy to settle, our last one WOULDN'T go to sleep. She was about 18 months old when we finally got her to sleep at a sensible time (9pm) not past midnight. She was really hard to get to sleep and then you couldn't move her. This one will just drop off when you feed him and then you can go put him in bed, which is fantastic in comparison :) She's been sick this week and is sleeping from about 7:30pm to 7:15am at the moment, which is absolutely unheard of O_o

My daughter Emilyn was born on the 28th June. I'm like Rumpled Elf- my DS (now three) was very unsettled until about 18 months, any sound would wake him up, took ages to settle, etc. But this baby is so different- she will drop off to sleep on her own, or just lie awake looking around quietly and sleeps 3-5 hourly blocks at night. That combined with a MUCH better physical recovery from the birth than last time means I feel human and sane, rather than like I've been hit by a truck. Babies are so different- anyone who implies that it is the mother's fault if her baby doesn't sleep ( I had a few of those) is so wrong. One book that I did find really useful, and you may too Poopie, is called the No-cry sleep solution, for those who don't want do controlled crying, but it gives you specific techniques to try. And even with a terrible sleeper, I did find I felt better, more human by about 5-6 weeks. I found I had to go to bed really early, my DH did the early shift of baby care, so that I got a few extra hours sleep.

Oh thanks girls, I've been told Harlee does not sleep enough during the day (she probably does only 3 hours from 8am-8pm) but she always looks tired and it is hard to get her back to sleep after her 2am feed. during the day she will feed every 2 hours as well with the exception of one 3 hour gap where she sleeps..
I really have no idea what Im suppose to be doing.

'mar- aww poor you & mrC on saterday. dh used to wake dj up too...i guess they dont see them awake like we do ay?

poopie: my suggestion would be day time keep harlee's room bright (as in day light) and night keep it as dark as possable.

AFM: Vic has been going really well, but i think me eating green beans last night gave him wind. thank-god we co-sleep which ment i got some sleep. but DJ s teething (bloody molars too!) so i was up and down with him - he's currently napping on the single bed while vic sleeps in a portable bassente on the coutch lol. as for weight. i'm back in pre-preg jeans but mainly due to them haveing been streched out :lol: and my tops...well i still wore alot of them. but i dont know how much i weigh. i also found that like with DJ - b/fing and full time expressing in the first week seems to make the weight fall off me. but then its harder to maintain (or it was after DJ...but vic's b.fing) but i am going to get more bf friendly tops once we start getting the baby bonus in.
as for vics weight i'm tipping nearer to 5kg now. he's in NB nappies during the day and infant ones over night 0_o he's feeding like a champ but hates being put down in silance so he's in the font carrier during the day. next week we have a MCHN appt. so we'll find out then. i better go and make some dinner for dj and i before vic wakes, ahh the joys of a DH who works nights.

been busy with little Chloe so havent had a chance to get on here.

Sas: i know chloe came out with a hairstyle, dont know what happened there she certainly doesn't take after me i was bald when i was born. Not only is there a lot of hair - its about 5cm long as well and it sticks up like shes had an electric shock, but she is adorable, its the first thing people comment on.

Erica: how did you go with DH being away? My DH had a night out with his friends to celebrate our baby, that was the first night i was alone with her wasnt bad, actually got more sleep without DH here!

all: has anyone started to go to any mothers groups? i went today for the first time (Chloe is 4.5week) it was good to get out but pretty hard to get her to the car (we live on top floor - 3 flights to walk down - and up!), get the pram out etc, i had to plan the whole outing out. I was hesitant to go incase i had to feed her there, it is still pretty messy when i feed her i think my let down is very strong and the poor munchkin cant keep up with the flow, we end up with milk everywhere and then she comes off and im still squirting milk usually in her face, hopefully that eases up soon otherwise i dont know how i will ever feed her when im out.

We went to get her weighed at 2.5 weeks and was told she only put on 140gm from the previous week, they said that wasnt enough and i should be feeding her more i was told to wake her up for 2 more feeds, i was pretty shocked but i didnt take their advice i kept doing what i was doing (i never wake her up i wait for her to wake up) and the weigh in we did at 3.5 weeks she put on 270gm and the weigh in today at 4.5 weeks she put on 300 gm, so what ever i was doing was fine.
She is now sleeping from 8pm to 2am which is great i get a solid sleep, ot sure how long that will last.. I wold prefer she slept from 11pm to 5am but cant be picky.

alex: my MG was good. until we hit the 1st birthdays then it kinda split. but that may have been due to (for me any ways) the age gap. i was 20 the next youngest nearer 25. i was a co-sleeping cuddled to sleep demand feeder. the rest (bar one mum) where CIO, timed feeds types. they also told me a few times to just let DJ CIO - which at that point would have broken me after what we'd suffered though. but for the first few months it was nice to have contact with other mums and bubs. but as i said around 1st birthdays it kinda screwed up. Oh it also helped that DJ got chicken spots and one mum wigged out over it and didn't like the fact i KNEW more about it then her.

AFM: i hit "the wall" last night. it all crashed down after what happend with vic - while DH was at work. so i had a little cry and some strong bow. (man i missed that!) but im feeling better now. and im thinking about dying my hair. (those of you on FB know this) but im currently blonde. last time i had my hair done was march. (and for the first time i might add dyed at a hair dressers!) but now i'm wanting a change. and i told DH i'd go black :rofl: im pale so i'll look like a goth hehe. with a purple rinse. but im thinking of "protecting" some of the blonde for when i put the pruple though it. but i'll need to wait until after i see my nanna tomorrow (she's almost 90 and i dont want to give her a heart attack!) but i want to do something to my hair that is "out there" and differant. plus i know DH wants to see my hair dark.
Vic is going well. feeding every 2.5hrs and every 4 over night. still got a mop of dark hair...its really friggin' long too! he can hold his head up fairly well already (when in SCN 3 days after he was born the nurses commented on it too.) he's gotten over the oral thrush he had as well as the bum thrush which is good. i've fond that i cant have onion cooked or raw or we end up with "nappy ripper" farts. that can be heard accross the room. i'm still comming to terms with his size too. seeing as DJ didn't hit 5kg til after he was 2 months old and vic is almost a month and i swear 5kg already. but we find that out on tuesday when we go to the MCHN. she'll also give me some play group numbers/places as MG has dessolved and she thinks it'd be good for me and DJ (and vic too i guess)
now i better go and do a load or two of washing before one of the boys wakes up!

Dansta - Its great to hear that you and Vic are doing well now, Ive been thinking of you! Good luck on the hair dying! Probably a good idea not to do it just before you see your nanna.. if she's anything like my nanna she would definantly have a heart attack! Oh and everytime I eat more than one peice of chocolate, Harlee gets pimples! it seems to be one pimple for every 10g.. lol.. not that Ive been studying it or anything!

Jennifer - thanks for the book reccomendation, I went out and got it straight away and it is half read already!! I cant stand to let Harlee cry herself to sleep like everybody is telling me to do. We are trying a technique right now. I actually put Harlee in her day bed 20 mins ago when she was half awake and she slept for 15 mins.. and did not cry! I was so happy and proud of ourselves. She is awake now but about to doze off again as everytime she stirs I shush her and she gets a bit more sleepy. :D


A word on breast pads.. I did make some of my own but I was finding they would 'stick' to my nipple and it would hurt when I tear it off.. eek!, I have since been using dissposible breast pads, but I have to change them at least 4 times a day as they get really stinky! What are you girls using?
I still have not seen our mchn because she double booked for our first meeting and called while I was in hospital so dh spoke to her and didnt rebook.. now I still cannot get a hold of her! grrrr!!
Anybody feeling the blues? Pretty much every time Harlee has a screaming moment I burst into tears and want to run away. And then I feel guilty and bad for Harlee because I want to give up, so I cry more. Its really bad :( Hoping it gets better

For somebody that only drinks milk, and vomits lots.. babies sure do smell scrumptious!

poopie: i use disposables ATM until the baby bonus comes in. i'm useing a mix of J&J ones (bought them at half price) and some other ones my mum bought me while i was at monash - the second lot i use if going out as they have a sticky bit to stick them to my bra heh. ohh and the pimples may well be due to your hormones. vic had them all over his forhead! i'm glad sleeping is going well too for you. as for the getting upset when harlee crys - i can understand that. that happend with me with DJ - esp. after the failure to thrive and being forced to CIO in hospital. it took until he was just on 12 months for me to be able to cope with *other* babies crying for a prolonged time. if you're feeling like your baby blues are really affecting you keep calling your MCHN - if you need to talk to her (or she may ref. you some one else) do it. i made that mistake with all that happend with DJ. or if you want to talk to me i can PM you my mobile number (or home phone if thats easier) and i'm happy to listen if it helps :hug: as for the vomit - at least its BM. formular puke makes me wanna puke LOL (ohh and it doesn't leave an off-white stain eather!)

I have to say I let this baby cry it out - but that's because it works. You put him in bed after a feed, clean bum etc when he's a bit grumpy and he whinges for 5 mins tops and then goes to sleep. If he gets louder not quieter or goes more than about 10 minutes, he comes out for more snuggles.

It is such bliss having a good baby after the last one - but everyone tells me it works like that. If they were all horrible I think mankind would have come up with failsafe contraception centuries ago and we would have died out.

If we ever hear crying from anywhere else in the house it is invariably the toddler not the baby. She's louder, cries more than he does, and is impossible to settle. Just as well she's so mindbogglingly cute when she's not a screaming grouchface.

Edit: how do babies survive elder siblings? I just went to change his bum and she comes up "oooh! changing the baby! stinky! need to help!" and climbs up onto the change table straight onto his head :rolleyes:
