I can' beleive your buba is sleeping 6 hours at night. You suck!! LOL :P That's great though. No worries about BFing, it's good that you have more time between feeds. I know the month has just flown!! Keep an eye on the meet up section and you're welcome to join us if you ever feel like driving out this way.
ha! you wouldn't beleive it... she slept last night from 5.45pm till 12.15am - 6.5hours!! i had her in her own room forthe first time last night too, so perhaps that made a difference. it meant that i didn't hear her unless she was crying, so perhaps she woke a couple of times and went back to sleep, where normally i would have gotten up to feed her. but we did also have a full on day out and about yesterday, so maybe i just wore her out. let's see how she goes tonight?? Ask miss c to send over the sleeping vibes though, just in case.
Monique - I'll take some of those vibes too!! The last few days Lila has done a 5 and a bit hour stretch but sadly it's been more like 4pm - 9.30pm. If we could just push it back a liiittle bit further. Lucky you though - enjoy!
joey - hope Lily had a good night last night and you are slowly adjusting to lack of sleep. I know when you add up the hours it can sometimes equal a fairly good night's sleep but getting woken through the night means you're not getting all of the deep sleep you need. That's my theory anyway
quick afm - got a great big gummy smile from Lila while I was bathing her on Sunday night and only a couple of fleeting ones since then - meanwhile i'm looking like the biggest lunatic constantly laughing and smiling at her to try to get her to do it again!!! Popped her on the scales at the chemist yesterday and she is now 4.01kg (her birth weight was 3.25kg). Happy with that
jenushka - great weight gain. You sure you're not popping her a few tim tams??
I think your sleep idea makes sense. Just posted about my night last night, you must have been posting at the same time!! Let's hope tonight is the same
I have had a few little smiles, and the best thing ... a "Goo". It was so cute!!
hehe - maybe she's getting a few tim tams via mummy! I'm definitely making up for having gest diabetes and losing 5kg in the last 2 months of my pg. Need to start behaving myself soon - don't want to see the scales creeping back up again. Thinking of getting a wii fit actually - anyone got one? Are they good?
Fingers crossed for you tonight - once lily has the sleep thing sorted, then she can come and talk Lila through it all Maybe the key is putting them in their own room? I've been thinking about putting Lila into her grobag soon, which doesn't fit in the bassinette anyway...
oops, better go - we've just had a poo-splosion...
Joey - BM is good for dryness, or moisturiser. I moisturise Leah after her bath and the dryness has finally almost disappeared, just a little on her forehead now.
It's official - Leah is a guts!! 240g this week. 300g over birth weight now!! 680g over her lightest weight!!
We get windy smiles, but no full on smiles when she has already burped. She is very alert when she is awake though.
Jen - We only had pooplosions when the nappies were too big. Now she is growing into them her clothes stay cleaner!!
Leah has thrush in her mouth, and she transferred it to my left BB, so we are using Daktarin gel, it is much easier to put on the BB than the drops they gave me first!! She likes the taste better too.
Joey - YAY for Lily! Looks like Miss C's mental message to Miss L worked a treat!
Aww your princess "Goo'd" We've had a couple of those here aswell, so precious!
As for the dry cheeks, I haven't put anything on Miss C's & it is starting to clear up now.
Jenushka - Hopefully your little miss can push back that great solid sleeping period to through the night! How great about the big gummy smile - heart melting moment..
And wow, what a great weight gain for Lila!
Alioops - Wow! That is a great weight gain for Leah! She sure sounds like a growing little girl
We had our first night-out trip for my SIL's birthday dinner. I had bathed & fed Miss C at 5pm so she was quiet happy to look about or sleep on & off while we were out. The older 2 were well behaved as well, so was a good night out for us all. Miss C slept in her cot all by herself from roughly 11pm - 5.30am & only woke because her older brother was making a huge noise (he's not sleeping well lately so came into bed with us). I changed her, fed her then she was back asleep til 9.30.
Wow - Lila did 2 x 5 hour stretches last night (6.15 - 11.15pm, then 11.30pm - 4.30am) - good girl! BUT - I had the worst night's sleep! I thought she would be due for a feed at about 9.30 so stayed up and waited when I should have got some sleep. Then when I took her upstairs after her feed there was a ****ROACH in her bassinette - yuck!! Am going to wash all the bedding today but that freaked me right out. So put her into her grobag in the cot which she loved but other exciting adventures to contend with last night was the baby monitor running low on battery and beeping insanely at around 2am (I hadn't put it back in its dock properly!) and another poosplosion.... and DH sleeping through most of it
Thanks Ali for the advice re poosplosions - I reckon they are due mainly to the sheer volume that she does each time (DS never did that much!), and also I think because the nappies are getting too short. Lila is a very long baby (90th percentile) and the newborn disposables are just that bit too hipster-ish meaning we end up with leaks up the back or the tummy. I bought the next size up today which should hopefully help to address that
monique - glad you had such a great night out with the kids! We're having our first big outing this sat, and are heading to friends for lunch so hope ours goes as smoothly!
ali - hope the thrush clears up for you and leah. Is it painful? Great weight gain for leah too...
joey - how did you go with lily's dry skin?
3 more gummy grins yesterday which was just gorgeous, none today so far though. And have just bathed her so must go and breathe in some of that freshly washed baby scent - mmmmmmm....
Ali - Thanks for the tip on the skin dryness. I'll try it out. That's much better than putting anything artificial on it.
Well done on your gutsy baby!!
How do you know if they have thrush??
Monique - Great to hear that your night out went well. What a great sleeping night!!
Jenushka - Are you telling me it only takes you 15 mins to feed, change and put her back to bed?!? Sometimes it takes me an hour. Although I have been nursing her to sleep those times, perhaps I should just put her down awake. What an interesting night it was for you!
AFM - Spent the day out yesterday at a fellow BB's house and a few of us got our hair done by her hairdresser friend. It was a great day, but Lily only slept on and off in 20 min naps so she was sooooooo tired last night. I fed her at 7 and she was asleep at about 7.30 and she woke me at 2pm and 6am! WOO HOO! One wake in the night!! We should go out every day!! But I don't think it is a good habit for her to get into, even though I had a fantastic night. We are having a quiet day at home today. She has just gone down for her one and only big nap, so we might pop out to the shops this arvo seeing she is having a good solid sleep now. Wasn't going to go out if she didn't have a big sleep, but she's been down for about an hour and a bit so far, so it's looking like a promising 3 hour nap. Mind you, cause I had a CS, I can't drive for another week, so it's public transport for us. I wonder if that will leave time??
Done heaps of washing today and just now waiting for my banana muffins to cook. They smell soooooo yummy. Have never made them before, so we'll see how they go.
Take care everyone, and sleeping vibes to all the bubbas!!
Yep joey - normally it'll take about 45min to an hour to feed her (change, offer both sides etc). Last night I pounced on her as soon as she whimpered, quickly changed nappy that was just wet thankfully (made up for that with the pooslosion later on!)and put her on for a feed. She powerfed and then fell asleep on the breast and couldn't be woken for the other side. Definitely not always like that - don't worry! I think she was able to do it as yesterday she did about 3 or 4 feeds that were only 2 hours apart, a cluster feed I guess. She's done the same thing with feeding today so I'm hoping for same result tonight...
Banana muffins sound yummy!! As does getting your hair done - what a great idea to get a hairdresser over with a few friends. I bet you feel like a new woman!
Jenushka - Wow what a good lil sleeper Lila is! Awful that you had such a horrid night's sleep.. I hope your first big night out on saturday turns out as great as ours was
Joey - How great about the hairdressing friend! I am so looking forward to getting my hair done! I wanted it done before Charlette arrived, but that never happened.
A 6.5hr sleep through the night from Lily - how wonderful for you
Droooooooooooool about your banana muffins, how did they turn out? You've got me keen to make some now. Might have to try on Monday.
Jenushka - if my Lily falls asleep on the breast, she will wake soon after I put her down cause she is always windy, so I have to burp her. Good for you though
Banana muffins were good. Still not used to my hair though. Perhaps if I do it properly instead of just chucking it up in a pony it would look better. It's the same as before I was UTD, but didn't want to foil during my pregnancy, so was very much brown again, and now all of a sudden I'm blonde
How did your sleeps go last night?
Monique - We're having another hair day in about 6 weeks I think, out at a BB's place at the Gap. You're welcome to join us. They are all BB girls, except for the hairdresser. She is cheap too. I got a half head of foils, cut, dry, straighten (and my hair is below shoulders) and it was $60. It'll be on the 26th of August.
AFM - Lily slept from 7.30-12.30, then had really bad wind pain (so getting her some stuff for that today), went back to sleep from 2am- 5.30am. Then from 6am-7.30am when DH woke her to wrap her cause he 'thought she was cold', but really her just wanted a cuddle before he went to work! So not such a good night, but if it wasn't for the wind pain it would have been. So she's down again now and soon we'll head off to Chermside shopping centre, via bus to get the wind drops and look for a new bag for me ... it's my birthday next Friday so I'm buying my own pressie so I get exactly what I want!!
Hi everyone! finally found this thread.
we had our little girl Tully on the 14th june 2 weeks early 7lb 3oz. shes a great baby very content.
noticed your babys are sleeping about 6 hours at night. Tully has has a long sleep of 4 hours. hopefully that will get longer.
gunna try to express my milk to make a bit more for her. i feel she could drink more. maybe thats why shes not sleeping very long!
Hey Brooke - welcome and congrats again on the birth of Tully! Glad you've found this thread
Joey - have a lovely outing to Chermside - the size of that place you could spend all day wandering around if you wanted to! Hope you find a nice bday bag
Well Lila was back to 3 and 4 hourly feeds last night, so the night before was just a teaser! So don't worry Brooke, it sounds like Tully is doing perfectly normally for a breastfed bub of her age. I did have a much better night's sleep though funnily enough - aside from one short unsettled patch she went down well after each feed which was lucky. And for the unsettled patch I just booted DH in the shins and he got her off to sleep
Just got back from doing a big grocery shop with both the kids - was a bit unsure how it would go but ds was very well behaved. Just sat him in the seat bit on the trolley and had Lila in the baby bjorn and she slept the whole time I'm sure not all shopping trips are going to be like that!
Very excited - we're getting insulation put in tomorrow morning (thanks to uncle kevin!). Can't wait to be a bit warmer for the feeds o/night! Other than going to a friends place for lunch tomorrow we're having a quiet weekend.
Hi to Monique and everyone else - hope you all have a great weekend
