hi ladies just wanted to pop in and introduce myself, my name is klee and my little man, kristian, arrived on the 10th June. we were induced two weeks early due to previous stillbirth. so far settling in pretty well, as well as you can when you move house as a 1 week old lol
I'm here. But feeling a bit foggy about everything so will come back when I'm feeling a bit more normal. Glad to be in this group though! By the way, my last post was less than two hours before I went into labour!
to all the new babies and for all the beautiful mothers!
Well Elijah is still doing very well, going to take him to the clinic on Monday to get him weighed. I love knowing how much he's gained hehe especially after his last gain of 300 grams in 4 days!! Ashton still adores him but has backed off! Let down still hurts like hell, and the other day I heard ANOTHER baby cry (on the telly of all places) and had 2 wet spots on my top LOL Think I'll need breastpads this time. Didn't with Ashton so it's a pain! Though he did feed a lot more than Elijah so that might be why. He really is perfect, just sleeps and feeds. Loves showers but hates baths. Prefers to be held upright and loves to snuggle into me in bed. Oh I love him so much it's made me want 10 more babies!
How is everyone settling in? Are the bubbas sleeping well? Feeding well? I hope you are all resting as much as possible. 4th time around I've learnt! When Ash sleeps, Elijah and I sleep. If I am tired I will pop Ashy in his pram and put a movie on and lay down. No point stressing the small things either, housework really CAN wait while I nap or rest LOL Taken me 4 babies to let it go and realise I can't do everything when it needs doing, and I feel so much better for it! I don't even feel sleep deprived!! Or maybe I am so sleep deprived I am delusional LMAO
Things are going well here. I've had a few anxious days between the birth and settling in at home, thinking that my antenatal anxiety was turning rapidly into PND, but I'm doing much better now that the hormones are settling down and things are looking decidedly less scary than they were! Feeling very positive and enjoying my little man. He is delightful! He bobs his head around when he looks for the boob, and smiles cheekily at my nipples. It is so cute!
We're co-sleeping and so far this is really working well. DS is easy, relaxed, content and a good sleeper. I love listening to his snuffles and grunts in the night, and I'm getting better at not waking up every time he snorts. Boob feeding has been an experience in itself, and I can see why lots of people find it really difficult and feel like giving up - but I've had lots of support from the midwives and my Doula, and we're bfing like experts already! DS has been preferring the left boob and struggled with the right, but he's doing quite well in football-hold on the right, so that's going okay. It's possible that his position in utero, and his delivery with the vacuum have caused him some neck pain stopping him from doing the madonna hold on the right. We're still practicing with feeding whilst lying down but we'll get there.
DS has regained his birthweight already, and is really alert and doing everything he should be. Everyone has been very impressed with his recovery from the birth, after he was on the CPAP for a little while. And we went down the street today with DS in the HAB, and got lots of nice smiles and comments from strangers in the street. That was kind of cool!
Mel, I don't know how you handle four boys as a single mumma, you really are a legend. I'm doing okay, but there's no way I'd be where I am without my DH helping me with cooking, cleaning, nappy changes, sleep, etc etc. You deserve a medal for how relaxed you seem to be! And thank you for your lovely comments in the BellyBuddies thread, I appreciate it
Hi to everyone, especially to Klee and baby Kristian! Glad you can join us, and my heartfelt sympathies for the loss of Phoebe.
hi guys! i found you! and i made it into this thread by 1 day!
it's 1am, and i have Jack asleep on my chest... i'm tired, but i can't seem to sleep tonight - i keep waiting for him to wake up. which is why (for the moment anyway) i have him on me. fingers crossed he can sleep longer than an hour!
So I had him sleep on my chest until the next feed (3:30am!), and then I fed him, changed him, and put him down by 4am. And he's still asleep! I slept in the room next door until 7:30 (DH slept on the nursing chair until 6am, he just told me), then I crawled back into bed with DH until just now. I'd still be asleep if I wasn't so hungry.
Not a bad end to a night that I was certain was going to have hourly feeds & lots of crying (from me & Jack). I wouldn't mind a few more of these confidence boosters.
