Things are going well here. I've had a few anxious days between the birth and settling in at home, thinking that my antenatal anxiety was turning rapidly into PND, but I'm doing much better now that the hormones are settling down and things are looking decidedly less scary than they were! Feeling very positive and enjoying my little man. He is delightful! He bobs his head around when he looks for the boob, and smiles cheekily at my nipples. It is so cute!
We're co-sleeping and so far this is really working well. DS is easy, relaxed, content and a good sleeper. I love listening to his snuffles and grunts in the night, and I'm getting better at not waking up every time he snorts. Boob feeding has been an experience in itself, and I can see why lots of people find it really difficult and feel like giving up - but I've had lots of support from the midwives and my Doula, and we're bfing like experts already! DS has been preferring the left boob and struggled with the right, but he's doing quite well in football-hold on the right, so that's going okay. It's possible that his position in utero, and his delivery with the vacuum have caused him some neck pain stopping him from doing the madonna hold on the right. We're still practicing with feeding whilst lying down but we'll get there.
DS has regained his birthweight already, and is really alert and doing everything he should be. Everyone has been very impressed with his recovery from the birth, after he was on the CPAP for a little while. And we went down the street today with DS in the HAB, and got lots of nice smiles and comments from strangers in the street. That was kind of cool!
Mel, I don't know how you handle four boys as a single mumma, you really are a legend. I'm doing okay, but there's no way I'd be where I am without my DH helping me with cooking, cleaning, nappy changes, sleep, etc etc. You deserve a medal for how relaxed you seem to be! And thank you for your lovely comments in the BellyBuddies thread, I appreciate it
Hi to everyone, especially to Klee and baby Kristian! Glad you can join us, and my heartfelt sympathies for the loss of Phoebe.
