Starangelk, we are using Rumparoos, BumGenius, Cushie Tushies & BBH Magic Alls at the moment. Unforunately we don't have a drier, so letting them drip dry is our only option. Come on sun! Make a come back!! What are pre-folds? We have had some leaks with the Magic Alls, but DP loves them because he "can't be bothered putting in the inserts" Meanwhile I am the one that does them during the day!!! I have found that the BumGenius ones fit her best, and also dry the quickest, so I am hoping to get some more of these , even though they are pocket nappies. I was going to go on the internet and look up some other kinds and get some sent to us so we can increase our supply as well as try some other ones out. Our local baby shop (still 30 mins away!) has only got the ones I have listed plus the Pea Pods. Does anyone recommend any? Lily is at least 56cm long (birth length) and is weighing 5.35kg (weighed yesterday).
I think I need to go to a LC too. My milk seems to have dried up in the last 2 days. I am wondering if it is because I have been wearing maternity singlets to bed, and they are tight on my boobs. I don't usually wear one to bed, but I wake up in a pool of breastmilk usually, and put one on in the early morning the other day with a pad and went back to bed and it caught it all, so I thought I would do it every night.. but now I am worried that it is restricting the milk production or something. Speaking of which, does any one know of any brands of breastfeeding singlets that are made for larger cups? I am a 14E, and the best I can find is a 16D or 16DD if I am really lucky.
Tubbles -
Prefolds are the tri-fold with extra padding in the middle one basically. I haven't used them, but they wouldn't be any use here the way Elijah wee's lol he'd need a change every hour!
Re: the inserts and DH, just put them in when you finished washing them. That's what I do
I have a great reccomendation! We use Lushies almost all the time! They are a fitted bamboo velour birth - 6 months nappy from Sustainable Hemp Products and are so gorgeous and scrummy! I use either longies or a PUL cover over the top. Also small sewn in ittis (the snap in's give up gaps) and small petites. If your baby isn't a heavy wetter, small bubblebubs would be awesome too, especially for DH as they are velcro and are the easiest to use IMO.
Regarding your milk, I doubt it's dried up Once your feeding has settled and your milk isn't in oversupply, your breasts shouldn't feel hard or anything anymore.Mine feel completely normal, how they were pre breastfeeding. The only time they feel harder/bigger is when I miss a feed on one side (forget which one I fed from last) but the rest of the time nothing out of the ordinary happening there! Is there a reason you want a BF'ing singlet? I just use a normal singlet and pull it down with the bra. When I am out, top goes up, bra and singlet go down and I am showing nothing. I am the same size as you and haven't seen any around though I am sure you could get them somewhere.
Sarah did you look at the sustainable hemp products site? I got their breastpads yesterday and they are so lush!! And they are BIG. I was happily surprised by how much bigger they are in diameter compared to disposable ones.
Another good night nappy is either Lushies or Cute Tooshies I used the CT for Ashton successfully until he was 6-7 months, and Elijah is in the lushies at night I did get a BBH night nappy for Ashton which arrived yesterday, he wore it last night with only one prewash and it was wonderful, completely dry on the outside of the nappy in the morning and that boy can pee!!
I'd never heard of a Wonder Week before but I am off to check that out! I sure know E has been more cranky this week than normal and he is 5 weeks old today! It's been a rough 2 days here, I am totally exhausted today after 2 bad nights
SAK sorry that BF'ing is a tough road for you, hopefully once everything settles down you'll have no more problems! It is still early days. And WOOO HOOOO on the weight gain! Elijah is due his 4 weeks check up... and he's 5 weeks today... whoops! Re: avatars, just check out this thread https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...atar-faqs.html
I emailed yesterday actually lol
Hey Missymoo - did you use a cover with your BBH night nappy? I am not sure if I am supposed to be....and thanks for the avvie help Going to email them right now.
Tubbles - I am still learning about the MCN's so can't recommend any sorry but I am super happy with all of ours so far if that helps. We are finding the prefolds awesome and have no leaks but they are super wet and heavy. Maybe X doesn't do alot of wees tho!
Thanks Entreat - I have been using a cover but I was confused because they are exactly like the minky petites which don't need one. DH forgot to use a cover on our thirsties once........omg mess.
Tubbles - I got Seph's friend suggestion and added you
How is everyone's tummy's looking? Mine is still very jelly belly and my line is looking worse now because my belly is smaller. ALso, I used to have a very innie and early in my preg it popped out and now hasn't gone back. Would love to hear about everyone else or if you already have a flat tummy back just say "no comment"
Hehe, I can't say "no comment." Whilst I've lost the kilos since giving birth, I still have a jelly belly which isn't so bad, but I won't be happy if it's still here in 6 months. The stretch marks are also not attractive - because my belly has shrunk, the stretch marks have sort of "lengthened" and some of them look disturbing. But I'm not particularly fussed by them, given the work my body had to do to bring A into the world.
I'm not quite fitting into my pre-pregnancy jeans without using the bellybelt on the tightest setting. The jelly belly is a muffin-top still. I don't know what work I'll have to do to get rid of it, I'm just hoping that bfing will reduce it's size and then I'll try and tone it up once I can be bothered.
Oh, and no matter what, DON'T do sit-ups until your Ob/MW/MCHN gives the all-clear. If anyone has any muscle separation from the pregnancy (mine was only 1cm luckily), sit-ups will make this worse. The physio at the hospy told us that sit-ups can further separate the muscles when what you want them to do is knit back together. We also should be rolling over onto our sides and sitting up rather than sitting straight up from lying on our backs, for the same reason.
saggy & floppy. But it was kind of like that before (I'm a size 18...). It's just a whole lot squishier now because my abs are shot. I poke it & think, 'surely it wasn't like this before...'.
As I'm sure you'll see on FB, we had a friend come around with his 3 daughters (10, 8 & 7yo) earlier. MIL took them around to the shop for an icecream, and a woman pulled up to them in a car (her kids go to the same school), and asked the girls how their spots were going, and if they were still sick. Yes, one of them has spots, but the other two don't, reply the girls.
MIL comes home & tells me, and I am less than impressed, so I go out the back & ask their dad if the girls have chicken pox, to which he says, "oh, I know nothing about it.. but one of them has some spots, but we asked a friend about it this morning & they didn't know what it was either".
Then after they'd gone, MIL tells me the girls said to her, "but don't tell Tomo (my DH), because he's not meant to know" WTF???
So they know it's a rash of some sort, and their friend (unlikely to be a doctor...) doesn't know what it is either. And then they tell the girls not to tell us. Then he SMS'ed us to ask if he could come around with the girls - obviously failing to mention the mystery rash.
OK, so I may be a bit of a panicked first time mum, but surely it's my choice to expose my unvaccinated 3week old infant to mystery diseases! Otherwise, I'm quite realistic about germs, etc, outside the home (and inside) - but I don't want to have the choice taken away from me, and I'd prefer to not have them knowingly brought in to my home at this stage.
But Jack's a good strong kid, & the girls didn't go near him (he was sleeping), so I can't see him catching whatever the girls had.
Is it bad that DD is my second child and I STILL have trouble remembering that I am a mummy and a responsible ( ) adult??
Entreat - AWESOME photos! How fantastic that you have such a great record of Jack's birth! You seem to be doing an awesome job with your MIL in the middle of new baby madness! Just read your latest and since you are breastfeeding I'm sure that Jack will be fine.
Cloth nappies! My DS is still in his so.. ooops... I had to buy all new ones for DD! We are using a combination of Bumgenius, Haute Pockets and Greenkids for DS, but I decided to just go with Bumgenius after finding a way to buy them direct from the US heaps cheaper than from the Oz distributors. The Haute Pockets used to be great, very trim, but have started to leak a bit as they get older. Sad that the colours arn't really there on Bumgenius and enjoying using a few of DSs old sized nappies like Bubblebuds and Itti bittis to spice things up.
My pre baby body was at least 5kg heavier than it should have been anyway and I still have an additional 5kg to get back to that... sigh!! I am SO sick of thinking about my weight and it really depresses me that I have the type of figure that if I want to remain at the weight I look best at, then I am going to spend the rest of my life exercising and denying myself cake. I got out of this pregnancy with only a couple of small stretchmarks on the bottom to join the couple on the side from DS, but the jelly belly seems to be a little worse this time and I think it could be here to stay! No muscle separation according to my physio and my pelvic floor is coming on much better this time thanks to no vacume!
BF is going well, I think it is my trade off from being lousy at being pregnant (sick, GD, heartburn etc!) is that my body is good at this (either that or I am being rewarded for lugging round DDs for all those years when their only use was.... C feeds a LOT so I am really having to watch that I am drinking enough and keeping up the Fenugreek otherwise I notice that my supply gets a bit low at night.
She is putting on weight and starting to get a personality which is cute (and a bit firey, WOW you do not want to be a second slow with getting the booby out!) Waiting till next week for a weigh and measure as that will be 6 weeks so will be good to be able to compare to DS at the same point. My child health nurse is very weird, but I dont have much contact with her, so that doesn't really worry me that much!
Will try to catch up more for more personals as I am definetly getting left behind a bit! I keep reading, but never seem to get a chance to post!
