Hey Missymoo - did you use a cover with your BBH night nappy? I am not sure if I am supposed to be....and thanks for the avvie help Going to email them right now.

Tubbles - I am still learning about the MCN's so can't recommend any sorry but I am super happy with all of ours so far if that helps. We are finding the prefolds awesome and have no leaks but they are super wet and heavy. Maybe X doesn't do alot of wees tho!

Thanks Entreat - I have been using a cover but I was confused because they are exactly like the minky petites which don't need one. DH forgot to use a cover on our thirsties once........omg mess.

Tubbles - I got Seph's friend suggestion and added you

How is everyone's tummy's looking? Mine is still very jelly belly and my line is looking worse now because my belly is smaller. ALso, I used to have a very innie and early in my preg it popped out and now hasn't gone back. Would love to hear about everyone else or if you already have a flat tummy back just say "no comment"

Hehe, I can't say "no comment." Whilst I've lost the kilos since giving birth, I still have a jelly belly which isn't so bad, but I won't be happy if it's still here in 6 months. The stretch marks are also not attractive - because my belly has shrunk, the stretch marks have sort of "lengthened" and some of them look disturbing. But I'm not particularly fussed by them, given the work my body had to do to bring A into the world.

I'm not quite fitting into my pre-pregnancy jeans without using the bellybelt on the tightest setting. The jelly belly is a muffin-top still. I don't know what work I'll have to do to get rid of it, I'm just hoping that bfing will reduce it's size and then I'll try and tone it up once I can be bothered.

Oh, and no matter what, DON'T do sit-ups until your Ob/MW/MCHN gives the all-clear. If anyone has any muscle separation from the pregnancy (mine was only 1cm luckily), sit-ups will make this worse. The physio at the hospy told us that sit-ups can further separate the muscles when what you want them to do is knit back together. We also should be rolling over onto our sides and sitting up rather than sitting straight up from lying on our backs, for the same reason.

    Angry

saggy & floppy. But it was kind of like that before (I'm a size 18...). It's just a whole lot squishier now because my abs are shot. I poke it & think, 'surely it wasn't like this before...'.

As I'm sure you'll see on FB, we had a friend come around with his 3 daughters (10, 8 & 7yo) earlier. MIL took them around to the shop for an icecream, and a woman pulled up to them in a car (her kids go to the same school), and asked the girls how their spots were going, and if they were still sick. Yes, one of them has spots, but the other two don't, reply the girls.

MIL comes home & tells me, and I am less than impressed, so I go out the back & ask their dad if the girls have chicken pox, to which he says, "oh, I know nothing about it.. but one of them has some spots, but we asked a friend about it this morning & they didn't know what it was either".

Then after they'd gone, MIL tells me the girls said to her, "but don't tell Tomo (my DH), because he's not meant to know" WTF???

So they know it's a rash of some sort, and their friend (unlikely to be a doctor...) doesn't know what it is either. And then they tell the girls not to tell us. Then he SMS'ed us to ask if he could come around with the girls - obviously failing to mention the mystery rash.

OK, so I may be a bit of a panicked first time mum, but surely it's my choice to expose my unvaccinated 3week old infant to mystery diseases! Otherwise, I'm quite realistic about germs, etc, outside the home (and inside) - but I don't want to have the choice taken away from me, and I'd prefer to not have them knowingly brought in to my home at this stage.

But Jack's a good strong kid, & the girls didn't go near him (he was sleeping), so I can't see him catching whatever the girls had.

SAK I use woolies on the BBH night Though we used it last night and it was dry on the outside which was awesome! I know others say they don't even use a cover but I've seen Ash pee out of some AI2 nights! No way I am going without a cover!

Jen hun, I wouldn't be happy either with the spots. A runny nose fine, virus fine, spots no and a chest infection also no. The reason for me and the chest infection is that adults can have whooping cough with almost no symptoms or what seems like a cough, but give it to a baby and they can die. Other yucky germs are fine, good immunity building and as a general rule a BF bubba wont get a viral illness.

Elijah is absolutely huge. I swear he is getting massive!! Need to get him checked over again on Monday at the open clinic but I would say he's over 5kg now. He's into the 000 clothes now!! (just) hehe which is awesome cos that's what all the cute little sets were :P He's feeding like a champ, had a couple of fussy days so I am really exhausted today. About to put all the kids to bed then go sit on my bed and fold washing while I watch telly. Yay for Thursdays... it's GLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! LOL

I don't know if anyone saw my photo of Elijah in the BBH? I'll link it... Mel Abbott's Photos | Facebook

They asked if they could use it on their website!! Hehe proud mummy boasting moment!

Well that's about all from me!

    Hello

    Hiya Mummys!

Is it bad that DD is my second child and I STILL have trouble remembering that I am a mummy and a responsible ( ) adult??

Entreat - AWESOME photos! How fantastic that you have such a great record of Jack's birth! You seem to be doing an awesome job with your MIL in the middle of new baby madness! Just read your latest and since you are breastfeeding I'm sure that Jack will be fine.

Cloth nappies! My DS is still in his so.. ooops... I had to buy all new ones for DD! We are using a combination of Bumgenius, Haute Pockets and Greenkids for DS, but I decided to just go with Bumgenius after finding a way to buy them direct from the US heaps cheaper than from the Oz distributors. The Haute Pockets used to be great, very trim, but have started to leak a bit as they get older. Sad that the colours arn't really there on Bumgenius and enjoying using a few of DSs old sized nappies like Bubblebuds and Itti bittis to spice things up.

My pre baby body was at least 5kg heavier than it should have been anyway and I still have an additional 5kg to get back to that... sigh!! I am SO sick of thinking about my weight and it really depresses me that I have the type of figure that if I want to remain at the weight I look best at, then I am going to spend the rest of my life exercising and denying myself cake. I got out of this pregnancy with only a couple of small stretchmarks on the bottom to join the couple on the side from DS, but the jelly belly seems to be a little worse this time and I think it could be here to stay! No muscle separation according to my physio and my pelvic floor is coming on much better this time thanks to no vacume!

BF is going well, I think it is my trade off from being lousy at being pregnant (sick, GD, heartburn etc!) is that my body is good at this (either that or I am being rewarded for lugging round DDs for all those years when their only use was.... C feeds a LOT so I am really having to watch that I am drinking enough and keeping up the Fenugreek otherwise I notice that my supply gets a bit low at night.

She is putting on weight and starting to get a personality which is cute (and a bit firey, WOW you do not want to be a second slow with getting the booby out!) Waiting till next week for a weigh and measure as that will be 6 weeks so will be good to be able to compare to DS at the same point. My child health nurse is very weird, but I dont have much contact with her, so that doesn't really worry me that much!

Will try to catch up more for more personals as I am definetly getting left behind a bit! I keep reading, but never seem to get a chance to post!

    xoxo

starangelk - "No comment"..... NOT! We're flab-tastic over here! Stupid little pot-tummy... I am so looking forward to bootcamping myself when i get the ok from the Ob in 3 weeks or so!
Hey, I wouldn't worry about the babytalk either I am a big fan of it actually - with ds1 I did HEAPS of babytalk, (I used the correct words for everything as well, but i used to play around with the language all the time too), and his language and vocab is absolutely amazing (hmm, i am probably not meant to say that about my own child! )

entreat: O.O I can't believe how thoughtless your friend was to bring possibly-contagious children into a house with a newborn, that is really just not on.

seph - re: the separation thing, I have a HUGE separation, although i seem to recall it closing up quite quickly last time so hopefully that will be the case again.

Hey, do you think I am good to use the wii fit before my check-up? I haven't been doing any exercise apart from a few walks (and carrying around ds1), and it would be good to get the wheels turning slowly anyway...

I got quite a jellybelly too. Can't really remember how big it was before the pregnancy though, but I am apparently about a kilo lighter than before I fell preggers which I am pretty stoked about (still need to lose 10kg to be my ideal weight).. but my tummy doesn't look like it.. and I don't think I'll be rushing into a bikini any time soon.. my stretch marks are hideous!

    Tubbles -
Prefolds are the tri-fold with extra padding in the middle one basically. I haven't used them, but they wouldn't be any use here the way Elijah wee's lol he'd need a change every hour!
Re: the inserts and DH, just put them in when you finished washing them. That's what I do
I have a great reccomendation! We use Lushies almost all the time! They are a fitted bamboo velour birth - 6 months nappy from Sustainable Hemp Products and are so gorgeous and scrummy! I use either longies or a PUL cover over the top. Also small sewn in ittis (the snap in's give up gaps) and small petites. If your baby isn't a heavy wetter, small bubblebubs would be awesome too, especially for DH as they are velcro and are the easiest to use IMO.
Regarding your milk, I doubt it's dried up Once your feeding has settled and your milk isn't in oversupply, your breasts shouldn't feel hard or anything anymore.Mine feel completely normal, how they were pre breastfeeding. The only time they feel harder/bigger is when I miss a feed on one side (forget which one I fed from last) but the rest of the time nothing out of the ordinary happening there! Is there a reason you want a BF'ing singlet? I just use a normal singlet and pull it down with the bra. When I am out, top goes up, bra and singlet go down and I am showing nothing. I am the same size as you and haven't seen any around though I am sure you could get them somewhere.

Sarah did you look at the sustainable hemp products site? I got their breastpads yesterday and they are so lush!! And they are BIG. I was happily surprised by how much bigger they are in diameter compared to disposable ones.
Another good night nappy is either Lushies or Cute Tooshies I used the CT for Ashton successfully until he was 6-7 months, and Elijah is in the lushies at night I did get a BBH night nappy for Ashton which arrived yesterday, he wore it last night with only one prewash and it was wonderful, completely dry on the outside of the nappy in the morning and that boy can pee!!
I'd never heard of a Wonder Week before but I am off to check that out! I sure know E has been more cranky this week than normal and he is 5 weeks old today! It's been a rough 2 days here, I am totally exhausted today after 2 bad nights

SAK sorry that BF'ing is a tough road for you, hopefully once everything settles down you'll have no more problems! It is still early days. And WOOO HOOOO on the weight gain! Elijah is due his 4 weeks check up... and he's 5 weeks today... whoops! Re: avatars, just check out this thread https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...atar-faqs.html
    I emailed yesterday actually lol
Should I just look up Sustainable Hemp to find this website? Lily is a big wetter too. I have to have all the boosters in on the nappies to be able to change her every 3 hrs.
AHaha, yeh I do put them together when I get them in off the line, that is why I can't understand what he is whinging about :P

saggy & floppy. But it was kind of like that before (I'm a size 18...). It's just a whole lot squishier now because my abs are shot. I poke it & think, 'surely it wasn't like this before...'.

OMG! I can't believe they would do that to you. Anyone with half a brain would know you don't see a newborn when you have any form of unknown illness or ailment!! Including rashes!!! GRR! Hope they at least let you know what it was when they find out, just in case.

smamfa: not sure about the wii fit, I hop on mine to check my weight and stuff, but haven't really done too many exercises or anything on it.. I was told that you need to exercise your core strength to get your tummy back, but not actually do tummy exercises like sit ups. I would say its better to wait to get the all clear. That's my excuse anyways :P

Looks good. I will have to look at getting some after my next order arrives. Chris might have a heart attack if a there are too many new nappies turning up at once :P

Also, I forgot to mention the breastfeeding singlet saga. I want to get one so that I can wear it under shirts. I don't have any singlets I can bring down under my boobs without taking my arm out of it.. I would prefer these, do you know any where that sells shirts like this? I actually have found one in the last few days at Kmart, but there was only one and it was on sale because they aren't selling them any more

My bf singlets are from La Leche League, which I bought through Mothers Direct I think. I'll find the link and bbl - mine are really good, and I'm a 12E or F cup. Will let you know where to get them...

    *sigh*
Tough day for me today. Jack has been screaming and screaming from wind pain today. The poor little guy. I wish I could take away his pain. And foolish me - I'm starting to take his screaming sessions personally.

I know he'll get better, but today I am really struggling. I'm sure it's nothing I'm doing, but that doesn't take away any sense of responsibility I feel.

aww hugs hunni. Does he get it often? Do you notice it's after you've eaten certain things? I can't have much chocolate, any yogurt or any curry He also reacts if I drink too much milk so I try and stick to one glass a day ... (we usually go through 3ltrs in 1-2 days here)

We had a bad night the other night too, I had curry and Elijah didn't like that. Screamed till 3.30am when he finally crashed out and he was farting the next day flat out. Poor little mite.

Yeah - he farts like a champion bean eater... But I think he may have a little tummy upset. His poop looks a bit different today.. more mucus in some, and others look a bit watery. And he's also feeding more frequently (2-3 hours instead of 4 hours).

I gave him a really good calm feed an hour ago, and stayed in bed with him for a bit, before putting him down in his cot. He's still in the same position & sleeping soundly. So I'm taking advantage - going to bed as well. Xx Thanks for hugs.

    Morning everyone

Entreat - poor little Jack. Hope he is starting to feel a bit better. Make sure you get lots of rest too if possible, no point having a tired baby and a tired mummy. And OMG about bringing contagious children to your house. I would have been furious!

MissyMoo - interesting about the curry. Originally I was going to not eat certain foods to try and eliminate upsetting X but then I read this book that said to eat anything and see if it effects her. So far so good but I must admit I haven't eaten a really spicy curry yet.

Tubbles - hearing about your nappy purchases makes me want to buy more!! I already have a wishlist - hahahhaha.

Smamfa - wii-fit? You are keen! Can you send some of your looking forward to exercise vibes over here please? I have been walking to and from the office (less than a km) on a daily basis but at the end of the day I am exhausted. I have no idea how I am going to ramp up the exercise to get rid of my jelly belly.

    Hi to Feu and Seph

Well, you girls are going to think this is crazy but on Tuesday I am having remedial massage.......on my breasts! The lactation consultant recommended it because I still have lumps on the side that had mastitis and it is producing less milk. It isn't bothering me as X drains the lumps at each feed (I am still doing one sided feeding) and I have heaps of milk anyway so no big deal. Anyways, it will sure be interesting! She also suggested I take sage and drink peppermint tea to help reduce my supply. I am holding off on doing this.........having heaps of milk is a problem to me but would be welcomed by others and I am scared to purposely reduce my supply in case it goes the other way. She promised me it won't dry up my milk but I am still scared. What do you guys think?
