Hi girls! Sorry I haven't popped in much the last week or so! Been flat chat!

Most of you probably already know but I went to Hobart on Friday and only got back today. THAT was a challenge as it's a 4.5 hour trip with 2 busses lol But I made it there and back safely and we managed pretty well I think! The hardest part was juggling all the stuff as I had 4 kids, 2 car seats, 2 kiddy suitcases and a big backpackers bag and the pram LOL it's amazing what you can do though if you are determined enough! Just can't want until I get my licence! Going in on Wednesday to book my P test! I have a car I am picking up from Hobart in about 2-3 weeks so just need my licence!

Elijah is doing wonderfully! He had a couple of nights of constant feeding. Not sure if it was a growth spurt or just being in a different house. He also got very rashy on his face while we were there which has settled since we got home... interesting...

I feel good. Things have been a bit emotional in my head lately to do with the ex and certain conversations that have brought up a lot of old **** etc... so I am glad I took those 4 days away from it all to calm my mind!

Can't believe Elijah is a month old

Thanks Entreat - I am going to look into that......I think the Urtica Urens might be the way to go from your description.....I know nothing about this so will have to do some serious reading. Thanks again

Welcome back Missymoo - glad you could clear your head. Don't let the ex get to you!

Welcome Juliette I am looking forward to getting to know u better.

Seph I would love to come to high tea but just can't afford it ATM. Would love to catch up one day soon for coffee at Doncaster though.

SAK- I'm in brisbane at the end of this month. If I can manage it I would love to pop down to the gold coast for the day. Maybe we could meet for coffee..

Well that's all for me tonight. Screaming baby she seems to always know when I am taking 5 minutes to myself.

Missy - I was late getting my licence too. It's such a relief when you have it. Get as much practise in as you can, and take some rescue remedy before hand to stay calm. Best of luck! Xx

We weighed Jack today - 3.8kg! He's put on 500g in 11 days. No wonder the chubby bub is outgrowing his clothes so quickly. I took some photos of him tonight. Mum's really good at keeping him awake & non-crying, so I took advantage. He's so chubby. He has two chins, and cheeks are so chubby they merge with his neck under his ears. And I swear he stores fat in his eyelids & forehead.

It appears I also have new neighbours who seem to trying to keep their dodgy music contained in their unit... but not doing a fantastic job. I think it's a bit early to complain, but at 9:01pm, I'll be calling the cops, I think. I'm not sure if this repetative bass line is better or worse than the other neighbours that only have one CD (summer fresh hits from about 8 years ago...) - of which, only 4 songs actually work.

SAK- google Owen Homeopathics. They make the kit I have, and you should be able to either find good info on their site, or email them.

MrsH - *cuddles* to you & Milly. Hope she figures out this sleep concept soon.Xx

Well I just had my vent in the bf thread... IL's are going to drive me insane, and I'm only 500m from it on my own!!! Telling me how often I should be feeding my baby, nursing him all the time and not letting him be in his rocker, when to change his bum and to use cream etc etc And it all comes about because I let them know the outcome of his 2week checkup last week. Grr I could kick myself!

Oh Belle - poo to the IL's! You're baby may be new, but he knows quite well when he's hungry. And I sympathise with the full sore BB's when the babe sleeps for long stints. I wet through two singlets in 2 hours this morning because Jack had a long sleep, and then a short/ineffective feed. Breastfed babies are often a bit lighter on than formula babies, so unless he goes backwards in his weight (or the nurse tells you otherwise), just keep up the good work. Xx

    Hi Ladies!!

I'm so sorry I haven't been on here or FB to keep in touch. I'm still having issues trying to get well and now suffering my 3rd infection the doc says I have a good 6-24 months of this until my surgical haemotoma dissipates. Thank goodness Eadie has such a peaceful nature or I may be handling all of this much worse than I am.

I've had a chance to look at all your bub pics on FB today...what cuties! I was going to respond individually to messages etc , but given my head still isn't quite with it, I thought it best to stick to here for now and hope you'll understand my lack of personals.

Eadie has finally started to sleep 10-1-5.30 (after 3 weeks of waking every 2 hrs day and night to feed for an hr or more!) I'm still using 7th gens and had hoped to be on cloth nappies by now. I've reached a point where all of my expectations are out the window, and given my injuries I figure I will move over once I can manage a bit better.

Was someone having child health nurse issues? Me too! We became non-friends once she found out that I am putting Eadie onto a 5 yr homeopathic infectious disease program instead of immunising her straight away. Mentioning I wanted to separate her immunisations made the nurses claws come out even further. Then to top it off, she despised my method of tummy/climbing up feeding with Eadie. Even though a lactation consultant suggested this method and it has worked a treat, it wasn't conventional enough and I should have worked harder to undo the confusion caused by the numerous midwives that mishandled Eadie at the hospital, and 'strongly direct' her to feed sideways across my chest instead. Whatever works I say! I hadn't planned to co-sleep either but I need rest!!

I want to share something fabulous though - my friend is training to be a doula and she made me some breastfeeding cookies - HOLY CRAP!!! Even when just chewing these gems my milk is projectiling down into my chest. These babies work!!

My little miss is awake, but promise to come back on here and post the recipe for you all. Seriously, growth spurting clustery-feeds will be a thing of the past! They are a must!

I hope everyone is going well and babies are flourishing.

    Love to you all...

    Olivia xo

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself

Mrs Hendo - great idea! I have facebook emailed you

Entreat - I hear you on the fat/putting on weight thing. My little one is getting massive! X is getting weighed tomorrow but I keep looking at her and feeling a little sad wondering where my baby went! I actually feel like that first week was SUCH a blur that I didn't really take time to appreciate how tiny she was. I should have stripped her down and had a better look at her, I felt like I was just going through the motions a little bit.

Belle - hope things are better now Xx

Livvielou - FAB to hear from you. Have I said how much I love love love Eadie's name?

    Tubbles - welcome and hello

    Big hi's to everyone else!

I had a really big day today - worked 7 hours in the office my biggest day so far. It was actually a bit crappy, I went onsite to a clients for about 5 of those hours and really should have expressed during that time. BUT I felt like I couldn't because they only have 1 toilet and I just felt awkward about the whole thing. Luckily I had a scarf and a black top on and the black top ended up fairly soaked but you couldn't tell. I didn't go back to the office but came home and expressed straight away. I am going to have to plan things a bit better or get more confident about expressing when I am out and away from my baby. This is all a bit hard

Hi everyone and welcome to all the new people! I wrote a HUGE post yesterday with heaps of personals, and then lost it due to my yucky wireless connection - arrrgh! So then I sulked and went and had a lay down (which I sorely needed - bubba likes to cluster feed from about 3am... and ds1 is still having some sleep issues although has improved heaps on the first week.) I just don't feel like I have the energy to retype it all either i'm sorry!

Hey I love how Z is making more noises now... little 'talks'... two and a half weeks old and already changing... gosh soon he will be 6 weeks and smiling and it will be full steam ahead... amazing how quickly it goes...

Am I the only one who is a bad baby-talker? When Z's stomach complains i call them the 'gurbly burbles' or the 'gurbly goos'... and when he is swaddled he is the 'zachapillar'... this is just the beginning!!!!

will try and get back on later and re-do some of those personals! xx

oh boo. I just lost my post.

I haven't really caught up with all the other posts before I joined so can't really do any personals, but I have skimmed through them and will write some soon.

Are there many first time mums in here? I am one, and feel like I am still struggling sometimes to figure things out. But I guess its all a learning experience

Is anyone using MCNs? We are trying to use them, but don't have a fully stocked supply yet. We only have about a day and a half's worth of them, and with the cold and rainy weather, its taking days to dry so are using disposables in between. Need to figure out what ones we like most so we can buy some more of them.

I am in the FB bellybelly group, but there is like 400+ people in there so I don't post much, if at all. Is there a group for this group on FB?

    Hi again,

Welcome to Tubbles and Lily and Belle and Parker! And glad to see Livvielou still around - have been thinking of you and your gorgeous girl, I hope you're resting and recovering.

Regarding Facebook - we don't have a group that we're all in, but most of us are friends on Facebook. You can add me HERE and I can introduce you to the other girls I'm already friends with!

Re: leaking boobs, I thought I wasn't really having that problem but I've soaked a few breastpads and made a mess of a few tops. Luckily my biggest leaking problem happened whilst at my first ABA meeting yesterday, so I figure that's the best place to have it happen

We're still not on full-time MCNs, and am disappointed that the few times we've used them we've had leaking problems I have bought a couple of BBH night nappies so hoping that will help minimise the late-night changes in the cold of winter. I'm going to stick with the MCNs until I've worked them out but for now we're alternating sposies and MCNs.

Things are going fairly well here. DH goes back to work next week. We decided that this week would be a good opportunity for DH to step back a little so that I can start taking over the majority of A's care (and get the hang of being on my own during the day). Apparently for DH that means doing bugger-all, sitting on the computer all day, and occasionally offering advice about what I should be doing Okay, so it's not that bad, but I am a bit annoyed that he sometimes has selective hearing when it comes to hearing Archie fuss and get upset. I'm looking forward to being a SAHM and ruling the roost again.

A does seem to having a fussy period atm, and I think it might be a Wonder Week. He's meant to be in a Wonder Week at 5 weeks past his EDD - and that's about now. He has been on and off the boob, getting upset when he gets milk, then refusing the dummy and nuzzling for the boob again. He's also had some bad wind for a few days which makes him so uncomfortable, and he's been pretty clingy too - sometimes only wanting a cuddle. Is anyone else reading the Wonder Weeks? I'm hoping this is what A is going through, cause it's been a trying couple of days.

Anyway, I have to go. Hope you're all surviving and getting some rest and of course, lots of delicious cuddles.

Seph, I have to be honest - I had to google "what are wonder weeks" as I had no idea what you were talking about but wow, it sure sounds interesting! I have signed up for their email to find out some more information. Which MCN's are you using that have had leaks? Do you think it's a fit problem or a nappy problem? We haven't had many leaks but are using mostly prefolds and covers during the day and since you can fold them to fit I think we are avoiding lots of leaks that way.

Tubbles - MCN's are one of my fave topics at the moment We are using them pretty much full time. We probably use about 2 disposables a week and that's only when we go out and she needs changing more than once. As I mentioned above, we are using prefolds and covers which from what I can gather is a pretty cheap way to do cloth and not as difficult as I first thought. Plus, the fit is heaps smaller than the OSFM/OSFA Mcn's that I have. We are also using BBH petites and Thirsties. I have some peapods, cushie tushies and BBH Magic alls that are a bit big for X at the moment. We also only have about 1.5 days worth at the moment but I am in Qld and they are getting mostly dry even on overcast days. We are drying them on a drying rack and putting the rack in any bit of sun we can find or just out on the front verandah then putting them in the dryer for up to 30 mins in the evenings if they need it.

Smamfa - I can't believe the baby talk that is coming out of my mouth. Little X is not going to have the best vocabulary in the world if I continue as I am - hee hee.

We had X weighed today and she is now 4640g and 55cm long- wooweee. Also, the lactation consultant thinks that maybe I don't have an oversupply after all but just a really really strong let down which means my breasts are constantly semi emptying from the letdown and that's why I am constantly producing so much milk. Also - I have some blocked ducts in the breast that had the mastitis so have booked for an appointment with the remedial massage therapist to have these worked on. Apparently I will only need one session and they will be gone and this will reduce my chances of the mastitis coming back. So I am all for that, I really don't want mastitis again. The only thing I am worried about is that I thought that boob was getting "better" as far as not being as leaky etc etc. The lactation consultant said that it is probably producing less because of the blocked ducts. This bf is so much harder than I ever realised it was going to be!!!

Starangelk, we are using Rumparoos, BumGenius, Cushie Tushies & BBH Magic Alls at the moment. Unforunately we don't have a drier, so letting them drip dry is our only option. Come on sun! Make a come back!! What are pre-folds? We have had some leaks with the Magic Alls, but DP loves them because he "can't be bothered putting in the inserts" Meanwhile I am the one that does them during the day!!! I have found that the BumGenius ones fit her best, and also dry the quickest, so I am hoping to get some more of these , even though they are pocket nappies. I was going to go on the internet and look up some other kinds and get some sent to us so we can increase our supply as well as try some other ones out. Our local baby shop (still 30 mins away!) has only got the ones I have listed plus the Pea Pods. Does anyone recommend any? Lily is at least 56cm long (birth length) and is weighing 5.35kg (weighed yesterday).

I think I need to go to a LC too. My milk seems to have dried up in the last 2 days. I am wondering if it is because I have been wearing maternity singlets to bed, and they are tight on my boobs. I don't usually wear one to bed, but I wake up in a pool of breastmilk usually, and put one on in the early morning the other day with a pad and went back to bed and it caught it all, so I thought I would do it every night.. but now I am worried that it is restricting the milk production or something. Speaking of which, does any one know of any brands of breastfeeding singlets that are made for larger cups? I am a 14E, and the best I can find is a 16D or 16DD if I am really lucky.

    Tubbles -
Prefolds are the tri-fold with extra padding in the middle one basically. I haven't used them, but they wouldn't be any use here the way Elijah wee's lol he'd need a change every hour!
Re: the inserts and DH, just put them in when you finished washing them. That's what I do
I have a great reccomendation! We use Lushies almost all the time! They are a fitted bamboo velour birth - 6 months nappy from Sustainable Hemp Products and are so gorgeous and scrummy! I use either longies or a PUL cover over the top. Also small sewn in ittis (the snap in's give up gaps) and small petites. If your baby isn't a heavy wetter, small bubblebubs would be awesome too, especially for DH as they are velcro and are the easiest to use IMO.
Regarding your milk, I doubt it's dried up Once your feeding has settled and your milk isn't in oversupply, your breasts shouldn't feel hard or anything anymore.Mine feel completely normal, how they were pre breastfeeding. The only time they feel harder/bigger is when I miss a feed on one side (forget which one I fed from last) but the rest of the time nothing out of the ordinary happening there! Is there a reason you want a BF'ing singlet? I just use a normal singlet and pull it down with the bra. When I am out, top goes up, bra and singlet go down and I am showing nothing. I am the same size as you and haven't seen any around though I am sure you could get them somewhere.

Sarah did you look at the sustainable hemp products site? I got their breastpads yesterday and they are so lush!! And they are BIG. I was happily surprised by how much bigger they are in diameter compared to disposable ones.
Another good night nappy is either Lushies or Cute Tooshies I used the CT for Ashton successfully until he was 6-7 months, and Elijah is in the lushies at night I did get a BBH night nappy for Ashton which arrived yesterday, he wore it last night with only one prewash and it was wonderful, completely dry on the outside of the nappy in the morning and that boy can pee!!
I'd never heard of a Wonder Week before but I am off to check that out! I sure know E has been more cranky this week than normal and he is 5 weeks old today! It's been a rough 2 days here, I am totally exhausted today after 2 bad nights

SAK sorry that BF'ing is a tough road for you, hopefully once everything settles down you'll have no more problems! It is still early days. And WOOO HOOOO on the weight gain! Elijah is due his 4 weeks check up... and he's 5 weeks today... whoops! Re: avatars, just check out this thread https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...atar-faqs.html
    I emailed yesterday actually lol
