b, today and yesterday was much better, Cam has been a lot more settled, and slept most of today which is great. I ended up changing his formula to Nestle Pro HA Gold today as he was still pretty windy on the S26 Original. I also got some Colic relief from the chemist last night, so far he hasn't been as unsettled and seems calmer. GL with the weight watchers!!
Con, I totally agree about babies picking up on our stress/anxiety. Even when I'm trying to settle Cam, I try not to get too stressed when he isn't letting up on the screaming.
Miamunchkin, I was told to give bub some water (boiled but at room temperature) with a tiny bit of sugar to taste, apparently it helps with the poos...hope the wind settles for Fraser soon, Cameron takes infacol with every feed and now some colic relief too.

Well, like I've said Cam is on a new formula now and the colic relief thing. He has been a lot more settled today and has slept most of the day. I actually feel a lot more relaxed now. Hopefully this will continue!

well i have given up bf. Hamish just doesnt want the boobie milk anymore and just cries when i try and put him on. it was getting to be too stressful and my supply was dropping because of it. so i finally gave in and now he gets just bottles. i feel sad but know that at least he has had almost 10 weeks of breast milk so thats a comfort.
missawah - my mum told me that giving a bottle of boiled water and half a teaspoon of raw sugar (bout 100mls of water should do it), will ease the constipation and help them poop!! i gave one to Hamish the other day and he pooped within an hour!! the previous one i had given him took around half a day tho. plus he LOVES having a bottle of water. must be refreshing for him. i give it between feeds so that way he still gets his milk. HTH.

Teresa, you have done extremely well hun! You should be very proud of yourself. I gave up bf after 2 weeks, I still feel a bit guilty that I didn't persevere with it. The MCHN told me that I should at at least keep up the b/f for 6 weeks. Last time I saw her Cam was 4 weeks, and I couldn't bring myself to tell her he's been on the bottle since he's been 2 weeks old..... She is such a b/f pusher!!!! So next time I see her (next week ) I'm gonna come clean
Missawah, I also give Cam a drink of room temp. boiled water every day. Usually he has a few sips here and there. I think that's what's keeping him from being constipated which can happen with bubs on formula.
Krisvee, lets's hope the settled little man is here to stay! He has been a lot better of late. I changed his formula 2 days ago, and this new one says to do 150 ml of water to 5 scoops of powder, which makes up approx. 160 ml. Well, Cam is used to drinking approx. 130 ml every feed, so the first time I have him the 160 ml he had the biggest spew ever! Poor luv, must have been waaaaay too much for him....so I've scaled it dowm to 140 ml for now

Hoping that everyone is having a better time than us. The last few days have been horrendous - just hoping that we are coming into a better time now.
Since Friday, Fraser has decided to only take half of his feed, whoch consequently means he needs fed twice as often. Through the night, I have just been getting back to bed when he wakes wanting his next part of his feed. We have tried everything - we thought it was tiredness so tried keeping him awake, but he still refused point blank to take any more than about 60 mls max. It's like you are trying to poison him if you actually get the bottle in, but most of the time, the jaws are clamped fixed shut and he's just not interested. He hasn't done a poo since Saturday morning, and is having really bad wind, so we think that the constipation and wind combo are making him think his belly is full, therefore not wanting to take his feed.
I spent most of yesterday in tears and just not knowing how I'm going to cope. When DH got home last night, he came in thinking he could fix it all, but was quite shocked when he realised that he had been screaming like that all day. Luckily, I asked him to take Fraser out in the pram, and I got an hour of sleep, which made the world o f difference!
I got him to take 2 full feeds through the night and he went for 3 hours after each. This morning so far, he has only snacked every hour, but just got a poo as I'm typing this, so hopefully things on the improve!
miamunchkin - we have had trouble with Hamish too for the last couple of nights. he has only taken either 1/3 or 1/2 of his feeds. up almos every hour with him. so exhausting. he keeps falling asleep when he has his bottle which means that he doesnt finish it and wakes up hungry later. i keep telling myself its a growth spurt and wont last forever. DH keeps thinking its coz he is withdrawing from not having the boobie milk anymore lol. somehow i doubt that considering the little one hasnt wanted it for awhile now. fingers crossed he gets better for u!!

Well all the visitors have now left and itis great!!!! Not that I didnt like seeing people, it just was sending Matilda feral! She is good now.
Well not to gloat but she slept through 9 hours at 2 weeks and 6 days and has been doing it ever since and back to 3 hourly and 4 hourly during the day! Sometimes she will stay awake during feeds, which is good and has the unsettled time during dinner, but otherwise all good.
I haven't caught up on posts, but Teresa don't feel bad about changing to bottle, you did a good job sticking it out.
By the way did anyone watch that show on Lifestyle channel about extradinary breastfeeding - ie 8 year olds??? Not against BF but it creeped me out a bit at that age.
