i agree with Naomi - it's nice to read good news stuff Bella! was that the middie Alan from BB? sounds like it was a long night - but a lovely experience for you all

Naomi - thinking of you hun - hoping the sonographer gives you a bit of info so you know what you're up against

AFU - sleep regression happening - so tired. i don't mind the frequent feeds - i get that bit - but why does she feel the need to play for ages during the feed - drink, sleep - EASY! or so you'd think.... apparently having a looooong breather to look around (in the dark!) is appropriate - have to be awake at least an hour mummy!

    Big hugs eveyrone!

Naomi - I can only imagine how you are feeling right now. I hope that the ultrasound shows things aren't as bad as first thought. Thinking of you today.
Jacinta - I am so sorry. Big massive hugs. Happy 5 months to Jamie!!
Bella- What a wonderful birthing experience! I always think about how I might like to be there for my sisters when the time comes, but I spose that all depends on them.

Hi everyone! I've been pretty busy since being back from our weekend away. I have missed alot. Sorry I wasn't around.
We had a fantastic weekend. The wedding was beautiful. My friend looked absolutely gorgeous and her Hubby is a pretty awesome bloke. He came over and had a bit of a pep talk to DH just before it all started. He was so nervous and white as a ghost... I was a little concerned, but it all went without a hitch.
The B&B we stayed at was lovely. We had some time in between the ceremony and the reception so we popped open a bottle of chardonnay, and I was quite happy after 4 glasses. I was a little worried that I might be a little too happy, but I took it easy at the wedding.
We didn't know anyone but the bride and groom, so we didn't stay at the reception all night. We went back to our B&B and got some drinks home delivered ( loved that!) a pizza home delivered ( haven't had anything home delivered in well over 2 years so it was a bit of a novelty) and had a romantic night. *blush*
Did a bit of shopping around the surf wear factories (had to buy something for the kids), had breakfast on the beach, and just took our time getting home. It was so relaxing and weird. Weird because we haven't been just hubs and I for 3 years. I loved it!! Hubs missed the kids after 4 hours. haha.
I expressed whilst down there and I now know why Allira is so chunky. Each time, I got at least 200mls from each boob without trying too hard. She's drinking massive amounts!! No wonder she doesn't feed overnight. Here I was worried about my supply a little, because I just feel empty all the time. I do have big boobies though, so maybe I hide the milk well.
    Ok that's our weekend. LOL.
I've been trying to clean a bit since getting home and haven't had much time to get online. We went to playgroup yesterday, and then Allira had her osteo appt yesterday afternoon. Her head is nearly perfect which is fantastic and the osteo is really really impressed with how far she's come. We have one more appt this year and then we take it as it comes... but the osteo doesn't think she'll need to see Allira much at all anymore which is great.

Ok enough from me. I'll pop back on later if DS lets me. Thinking of you Naomi.
    xxoo

Jacinta: Aw, mate I'm so sorry. Hoping you can chill out with your mum for a bit and look after yourself. We are always here for you should you need to talk about things.
Naomi: Thinking of you today, mate. Hope the u/s goes really well and that you get some answers very soon. Enjoy catching up with your dad and we'll look forward to hearing from you when you get an opportunity.
Bella: Sounds like your niece's birth was great! I think you are awesome for supporting your sister and her kids so generously, particularly with a little one to look after... one who's not giving you a whole lot of sleep by the sounds. Good on you - I'm sure your sister really appreciates it.
BG: Bummer about the wakefulness overnight. P has always taken her sweet time during night feeds so I know how it feels. Fortunately atm she is only waking once or twice a night, so I think I've got it easy. I hope you can get a nap in sometime today.
Nicky: So glad you had a great weekend away! It sounds just magic.

I too am thinking of you girls with angel babies today. Peace. I will be lighting a candle tonight.
Little Phoebe is calling. We are headed out to the shops to buy a bunch of flowers before collecting Natty as her favourite teacher is leaving today Will pop back on tonight, I reckon.

Hi girls, gosh I've missed you all so much. Things have been pretty full on for Kyson and I lately. My best friend came down with her 9 week old for my birthday party, and my sister flew back from Austin, Texas (although she had only been there for 2 weeks with her boyfriend, before that she was living in London for almost 3 years). I've been doing a few things with my sister because I missed her so much. Plus, Kyson has been sleeping really badly so I've been pretty exhausted.

I came on and read all your posts today and am determined to get a good post out because so much has been going on with you all! The small fry has just gone to bed, so fingers crossed...

Naomi - Oh sweetness, my heart is going out to you. I just can't imagine how tough ti must be for you right now. I hope Vic can give you lots of good information. It's amazing how well babies cope with trying situations though. When I met Cerys I was amazed at how happy and content she was even with the brace on. She is a little trooper and was fantastic on both her back and her tummy. I hope the ultrasound reveals some good news today, and that things aren't as bad as you think. Bailey is a gorgeous little boy, and no matter what happens in the coming weeks/months, just remember that he is a wonderful treasure that will thrive on your love and devotion no matter what diagnosis you receive today. Much love and support for you babe! xoxox

Amy - Your shopping trip sounds like it was fun albeit a little crazy, lol. I can just picture two little girls making havoc together, but having an absolute ball. Especially when you add a little bit of water into the equation, hehe. Kyson doesn't have much of a routine either. We just kind of go with the flow. I figure that each approach has it's benefits. A routine might make most normal days easier, but I've heard that babies in strict routines have lots of trouble as soon as you change the routine, which would make going out pretty hard. Kyson is used to going out and being out and about during nap times, etc, so it doesn't seem to upset him or make him cranky. He just takes it in his stride and naps when he can

BG - Gosh I hear you on the sleep regression. Kyson has been sleeping terribly for the last few weeks. He wakes after about an hour to an hour and a half after feeds, and I'm constantly trying to keep him calm and quiet until I finally give up and feed him. I've tried to just settle him back to sleep without feeding, but he screams for a while before he finally falls back into a really restless sleep. And even then I can only keep him asleep by holding him and rocking him when he stirs. Plus, after all that works he wakes up after 20-30 minutes anyway still wanting to feed!
Last night was the first night in ages where he went 3 hours between feeds again, and didn't stir constantly in between. And the little gem slept another hour and a half after his morning feed so I was able to catch a bit of extra zzzz's. Good luck!!!

Jacinta - Oh honey! I don't even know what to say You must be going through such an emotional turmoil right now. It seems like things were so different last month, and now this! Just because you are crying does not mean you are not a super strong person, because I think you are showing an enormous amount of strength right now. You are a wonderful mummy and Jamie is very lucky to have you!

Bella - Happy 4 months to Jemima! The birthing experience sounds like it was wonderful. It sounds like your sister had a wonderful and supportive group of people to share her daughters birth with her. It's a shame that her kids started playing up, but I guess that it's better than if they had been scared of what was happening. And in the future they will hopeful treasure the memory of being in the pool while their mum was labouring with their sister. I hope you get to have a few cuddles between helping her out with the housework

Vic - Sounds like you and CJ are having a wonderful time in the UK. All your photos on facebook are fantastic. Your family must be thrilled! Good to hear that CJ has settled back into a normal sleep routine. It's amazing that a little baby can adapt so quickly! Although, 2 sleepless nights probably didn't feel so quick to you, hehe. My sister sounds like yours because my sis never wants to have children, but she absolutely adores Kyson. She even loves to hold and cuddle him (but is happy to quickly give him back if he fills his nappy hehehe). Her boyfriend said that he has never seen her look at anyone the way she looks at Kyson, except when she looks at him, awwwwww! Have fun shopping on Monday. I went shopping with my sis yesterday. I am shocking at shopping for myself, but she is great to shop with. Got myself a couple of tops and some new jeans that actually fit me, whoohoo!

Kat - I hope Ivy's sleep patterns are improving. See my response to BG to hear about my fun nights too, lol. Maybe the floor activity that she is trying to do (and getting frustrated with) is a new developmental thing that is causing the sleeplessness. Hopefully she'll work something out soon and then get back to nice sleeping during the night and napping during the day.

Cathy - Kyson is getting even better at picking up his food by himself everytime he eats. He had cauliflower the last couple of days and it was so cute.
I'm looking forward to seeing your professional photos. Your kids are so photogenic! Laura looks like she just adores being in front of a camera

Nicky - I'm glad you had a good weekend without the kids. I think it was a super idea to skip the end of the wedding and have some romantic time with your DH

Wow, I can't believe Kyson is still asleep. Maybe I should take advantage of the situation and go and eat some lunch! Love to you all! :hugs:

Quick post to update re our ultra sound. I waited for the films (so I can read the diagnosis for the Paed seeing we dont go back to him until next Wed, the sonographer was a bit of a toss bag - told me my job was to amuse/distract Bailey when I was asking him questions!!!??? Anyway, this is what the diagnosis says (I only really understand a little of it)

The coverage on both sides is good, the right being measured at 77% and on the left being measured at 76% (I take this to be fantastic as a Vic told me last night anything above 70% is considered in the normal range so this is good news]The right ALPHA angle was measured at 77 degrees and at the left 64 degrees. While the coverage is good, the acetubular margins remain quite rounded bilaterally. While this can be associated with immaturity, it is quite prominent given Bailey's current age. (This bit I dont understand - Vic does this make sense to you, or Bella can you or your DH put it in laymans terms for me?)

So while I know parts of it sound promising, I really dont get the last bit so that could be crap news, will try to find someone to explain it to me as the Paed is away until next Tuesday, if anyone has any idea - let me know

Will be offline for a couple of days - but just a quick reply Naomi, not sure what it means about the angle bit, but I know that the reason we still have CJ in a brace at night is because the edge was still quite rounded and needed to be more angular - not sure if is the same as Bailey but they showed us on the ultrasound and just said would like it to be more angular (showed us a pic of a normal one too). So if is a similar thing and considering Bailey and CJ are similar in age especially if you adjust because Bailey was early than if a brace can improve the angle in CJ's joint then perhaps a brace for only part of the day could work for Bailey too. The coverage does sound excellent. Anyway fingers crossed for you - my totally unmedical opinion is that the ultrasound sounds like is mainly good news.

Thanks so much Vic - one of the girls from the Hip Dysplasia Support Group pointed out that a variation of Dysplasia is 'Antabular Dysplasia' which could be what reflects the finding from Baileys u/s. I looked into it a bit and it seems the treatment is the same or similar to the 'regular' dysplasia (depending on what site I look on, some suggest its exactly the same thing - ahhh the internet, helpful but contradictory at the same time ). Anyway, I guess it depends on how severe Baileys results are viewed but it seems that some kind of bracing, plaster or surgery is likely Perhaps like you mentioned that when Baileys 'adjusted' age is taken into consideration it wont be quite so bad? The thing that keeps freaking me out is that I continually read that after 6 months surgery and a spica cast for 3+ months (a cast that can be from nipple to toe) are commonly used, followed by bracing. Man I need to stop looking and websites and speculating, but I need info, its one of my coping mechanisms. Bella helped me out today by putting some of the medical lingo into laymans terms for me and pointed out that as Bailey is young/little he still has plenty of time for bone growth (thanks again Bella for taking the time to explain some of the info for me). Its really good news that his coverage is good, so hopefully we learn the other bit is good too.
All in all - I am still none the wiser as to what it means for Bailey, but I am a little more info'd up

On a side note Bailey has thrush again - DOH, I was talking to the Pharmacy assistant about it recurring again and asked if it may be from him putting his toys in his mouth etc that has brought it back and do I need to wash them (wasn't sure if the thrush bug could live on them as thought it would only survive in a warm moist environment), anyway she said to wash/sterilise them, so I did and I have melted most of his toys in the microwave steriliser - DOH!!! I have to laugh! After gymbaroo tomorrow I will go to Big W and see if I can find the same ones to replace or at least get him some new ones!! Stupid Mummy hehehehe

We just got home from visiting my Dad before, got some great photo's of him and Bailey which I will post on FB in the next day or so, he'll be back for xmas so will get to spend more time with him. He was passing through as flew down from Broome to help some friends who were affecting by the storms a few weeks ago (they live in the country - about 600kms from here), they lost a fair bit of house, shed, and other buildings on their property so Dad was helping with the rebuild.

Nicky - thanks for the support Sounds like you had an awesome weekend away, so glad you enjoyed it, its nice to have some 'couple' time. My Mum was having Bailey next Sat night for us overnight but have decided that at the moment I dont want to be apart from him so will take her up on that offer once all this dysplasia stuff is sorted out one way or the other. Wow at expressing 200mls - way to go, thats frigin awesome - you have some serious milk production there!! LOL

Krystie - great to hear you have had some visitors from afar, also sounds like Kysons BLS are going really well. I am going to start adding meat into Baileys diet in the next week or so, he has only really had Fruit/Veg and Yoghurt so far. Thanks for your lovely post

J - Happy 5 months for Jamie. Hoping you have some great support with your Mum

Bridg - how are you? Thanks for your kind message on FB, I really appreciated it you sweet girl

BG - Doh re the sleep regression, what is it with the bubba's waking so early? Bailey was wide awake at 3am chatting (felt like yelling in the quiet of the morning) to himself the other day and awake at 520 this morning - Arrrrrgggggh. I thought with DLS starting they would give us a bit of a sleep in!!

Amy - Bugger re the favourite teacher leaving, hopefully Natty doesn't get a dud replacement, good teachers are hard to find!! And thanks for your sweet kind words too

Cathy - I agree, your girls are very photogenic - How are you making all those collages up on FB btw? They look fabulous. I noticed some of CJ too....

Well, I better go to bed, it has not been a good week for sleep so it seems stupid not to try to go and catch some Zzzzz's while the little guy is sleeping

OMG!!! Do you girls realise that our thread link was on the second page today? I have never seen that before. It is because no-one has replied since the 15th..... I am guessing that as it is the w'end all of you girls have been busy with hubbies and haven't had time to write.

I am gonna do an 'all about me' post, just cos

So DH has just finished a run at work and being on that course of 14days straight. He finished on Friday night. Suffice to say we were both pretty knackered by that because neither of us could relieve each other. Jemima has been settling to better sleep overnight, usually just waking once at around 1:30. However it has mean she has had several days where she has gone back to not sleeping at all during the day. Yesterday she literally didn't sleep at all until about 3:30pm and when i tried to lay her down about 5mins into the sleep she woke up. Poor little poppet was rubbing her eyes and quite clearly tired, but there was too much stuff to look at. Today however she woke up at 2:30am and didn't settle properly till 3:30. then woke again at 5 and went back to sleep in my arms till6:30 at which point DH got up with her and let me sleep in till 10am and she went to sleep at that point.

So all in all she is having a good time but the days make it more difficult. She is also quite obviously teething. She has two little white lines across her bottom gums and is chewing on everything. Her cheeks look rosy at times two. Not that anyone else can see the rosiness but DH and I. We can see it because we r so used to what her cheeks normally look like that the slight blush on them is obvious. Anyway she has had a couple of really miserable days where she has been in pain. Panadol helped but didn't eliminate it completely. She is still so little that alot of the teething rings that they make are just a bit too heavy and/or she just has difficulty maneovering them into her mouth. Her hand eye coordination is coming along but she is still so young, too young almost to be teething. I have read that they can start this young tho. Anyway she is pretty happy for the most part despite that. People are always commenting on how content she is. I can put her down and she just keeps herself amused looking at things. She is therefore simply ecstatic if I am looking at her or talking to her and that is very sweet! I just love her to bits!

Anyway I had better go spend some quality time with DH and post this so we arn't so far down on the list! Love to you all

Bella - our womans and childrens hospital make and sell the most awesome teething gel, all the SA Mums swear by it, I used it when Baileys first tooth came through and it works a treat. Want me to send some up for you? I highly recommend it. Unlike the reports about bonjella, this stuff is safe, I have put some on my gums and it just numbs them, giving instant relief and you can apply it 4 hourly. Its like a thick syrup and I just put some on a cotton tip and rub it on the gum where the tooth is coming through

    Naomi

PS - If anyone else wants any, let me know, one of our local chemists sell it on behalf of the hospital so I can grab it easily and send off if anyone needs some

Finally we have a physio appt to get working on Baileys gross motor skills - first appt is Nov 11th (still over 3 weeks away DOH). I think he is the only baby not rolling (and the first one born ) Poor little under-developed man **sigh** Oh well, at least I'll be the last to have to baby proof my house On a happier note he is starting to hold his head up from tummy time - I know everyone elses babies have been doing this for months, but this is a big milestone for my little pipsqueak!! Yaaaah!!

2 more days until we find out more from the Paed (how slow is this time going!!) - Sean has taken the day off to come with me which is good as I am worried I'll get all emotional and forget important info that the Paed may tell me

Hope all the bubs are well, Love the video of Kyson laughing Krystie - that made me laugh, Bailey cracks me up when he laughs like that, honestly its just the best thing isn't it? I have found a few ticklish spots that make him absolutely cack himself, that and the tickle or kiss monster work everytime

Allira's not rolling a heap yet. She does it when she feels like it. LOL
Good luck with the appt Naomi.

Allira's not cackling yet either. She has started pulling herself up her knees for longer periods, but no arm action yet.
Krystie - Kyson is adorable! That video is just gorgeous!!

Hi all. Sorry I haven't posted for a bit - I have been reading but find I keep getting interrupted.
Krystie: Yeah, I suppose no routine isn't really that bad. Phoebe is a lot more flexible than Natty was. I wonder if that's just her personality or the fact that it's just the way she has to be. I too think that video of Kyson is just magic! What a little cutie.
Naomi: LOL @ melting Bailey's toys! Hope his little mouth is getting better. Phoebe's not rolling either. She's only ever rolled about 3 times from tummy to back and I reckon they were flukes and just the effects of gravity, LOL! I'm sure I've mentioned before, Natty didn't roll properly til she was about 9mo, so I'm not too fussed - she crawled and then walked in her own time. I have no reason to believe Phoebe will be much different, except that she seems to not mind being on her tummy as much as Natty did. Bummer about the wait for the physio. But I'm sure it'll be worth it once you get there. Did you find that jumping thing you were after for Bailey?
Bella: Good that Jemima is sleeping better overnight, although it makes a long day when they don't sleep. Sorry about J's teething - hope they come through quickly and she gets some relief soon.
Jacinta: How was the expo? I haven't been to one before but have been tempted a couple of times. What nappies did you buy? My girls are often in sposies to go out too, mainly because the nappy bag's just not big enough for two lots of cloth plus clothes etc. Need to invest in a bigger one, I suppose.
Nicky: Phoebe mainly just laughs at Natty. Sometimes I can get her to laugh by tickling or laughing at her, but she really only lets go when Natty entertains her.

I am so knackered. I'm finding myself going crook on Natty all the time and I hate myself for it. I've been keeping busy, trying to eat better and exercise. I had hoped it'd make me feel more awake but so far hasn't.
We got a big box full of hand-me-downs from my niece yesterday and Natty is in dress-heaven. She's been SUCH a girl lately, desperate to wear dresses and pretty shoes. Quite impractical, but kind of cute.
Ok, little one is awake and slightly larger one is telling me I HAVE to help her, so off I go.

I still find wearing pretty dresses and shoes impractical (especially heels LOL) but like Natty I would be in dress heaven too with a box of hand-me-downs hehehehe

I was reading some of my previous posts and realised I have become a bit "Woe is me/us" LOL, I have told myself to "Toughen Up Princess" and get out of my downward spiral hehehehe

Swimming was great fun this morning - Bailey was smiling and talking (actually, he yells now) up a storm, hilarious!! His swimming teacher is in love with him and steals him for cuddles all lesson, he loves it, he is such a ladies man already!! I bought him some bathers for QLD so we put them on today - he looked too cute, will post a pic on FB

    Hi Girls'

Just quickly, Naomi I would love to have some of that teething relief you were talking about. I have a few options but they arn't seeming to help alot.

I took Jemima to the CHN yesterday for her 4month stats, I had been doing the measuring myself, but was a little worried cos her head is sooooo big that i wanted a second opinion... she's fine but here they are

    Weight 7.18kg
    Height 63cm
    Head Circ 44.5cm

    one big bubba!

She was supposed to have her needles but we have delayed them cos she is a little sick. She is coughing at night and wakes crying/distressed instead of how she ussually wakes which is just by stirring and grunting. So we have broken out the panadol and neurofen and have been dosing her when she seems like she is in pain. Last night she woke 2nd hrly. I didn't mind getting up to her tho. I feel better knowing that being with me gives her comfort, so I am happy to get out of bed for her especially when she is sick...... I might take her to bed tonight with me. Anyway I am sure she will be fine, but with teething and a cold she has had it tough. this am she woke with a real pained cry. i got her panadol and neurofen and she relaxed and so i then took her back to sleep and she slept in bed with DH and i till 8am.. DH then took her for me so i could catch up a bit

Must go put little one to bed and make tea

    Love to you all

    Bella
