How is everyone? I have just had a massive cook up for my BF baby shower tomorrow (the one who had her baby 8 weeks early so we had to cancel her original shower hehehehe). Have made thai sausage rolls, cup cakes, chicken and asparagus breadcases and put together one of those chocolate ripple biscuit desserts - yummy!!

We've had a tough week, in reflection we've only had one night of normal sleep. Not 100% sure what's up but thinking it might be some seperation anxiety at bedtime/naptime? Bailey has been quite difficult to get to sleep for day naps and at night (esp the last few days) as just gets himself quite upset and cries, and has been waking frequently quite upset. Normally if he wakes I can either pop the dummy back in, pat or at worst a quick 5 minute cuddle and he goes back to sleep, but last night it took me an hour and a half to get him back to sleep. He's also been waking about 430am. I've given him a few extra bottles on some nights thinking it might be a growth spurt, then I thought it was related to his brace adjustment on monday, then Sean suggested teething but I cant really see any obvious signs of it. Although everyone says he is cos he drools (he always drools so I disagree). I really dont know, but did some googling and it seems seperation anxiety can occur around the 6-8 month stage and he had been quite clingy to me of late. I tried to get Sean to put him to bed the other night but Bailey wouldn't have a bar of it and ended up so upset he was doing the whole cry/shudder thing - heartbreaking. Not 100% sure what to do, might just plug away for a few more days and see what happens, but any ideas would sure be welcome.

Nicky - I forgot to reply re the diet. As we started solids early (just shy of 5 months), I didn't do the BLS as Bailey's hand to mouth co-ordination at that point was pretty under-developed so cant offer you any guidance there but a typical days diet for us is bottle (always 150mls as the rest just goes to waste) at 630am, breakfast (fruit and farex) about 8am, bottle about 1030-11am, yoghurt about 12-1ish, dinner about 430pm (meat and veg, eg sheppards pie, chicken casserole, tuna mornay) and fruit for dessert and a bottle at bedtime 6pm-ish. Bailey also has a bottle overnight (about 2-3am-ish). I've just discovered this Heinz baby custard powder so on the days he doesn't drink much, I use the leftover formula and make some custard and he'll eat that instead of the bottle (that way I can get some milk into him). He eats ALOT of solids compared to all the other similar aged babies I know - eg about 5 icecube fulls for each meal, + about that again in fruit for dessert. He seems to prefer food over milk but still gets about 600mls milk each day. All his food is home-made, occasionally will have heinz or raffertys baby food when we are out and about but doesn't eat much of it (unless its chocolate custard LOL). I've stopped puree'ing food and now just mash it a bit with a fork as leading up to self feeding in the next month or so (he can feed himself pretty well with a spoon, but we tend not to do that unless its dinner time as a bath follows LOL). We've started to put his water bottle in his lap and during mealtimes he will pick it up and take a drink when he wants one so normally has about 6 drinks during a meal, he is drinking heaps of water now which is good.

Ahhhh thats about it...... I can hear the little guy stirring again so must away
