LOL J
Krystie - Definately take a pram. Although I left our 'proper' pram in Adelaide, I'd bought a layback umbrella stroller for $90 at Big W to take away as we had trips planned to QLD, Melb for our BB meet up and Perth, and you'll need something. Seaworld is quite big, and we spent a fair bit of time walking around from attraction to attraction and I was tired from pushing the pram, let alone lugging a baby about (and we seemed to have heaps of 'stuff'). At White Water World in the toddler and baby pool (WIggles Bay) there are a few hundred sun lounges around the pool, we could see our stuff clearly when in the pool, and its all covered with shadecloth which was great for the littlies. I thought White Water World had good parents facilities (a few parents rooms with couches and microwaves etc) but at Seaworld there was always a line up but there is a nice grassed/tree lined area towards the back where the waterslides are which I found handy for nappy changes, feedingThe Polar Bears were a bit lazy the day we were there, but the Dolphin show is an absolute must - it was my favourite part!! Also, if you are trying to get the babies to sleep, walk through the aquarium part, its dark and the massive windows full of fish/sharks are mesmorising (and relaxing), Bailey was enthralled! I also bought this $10 fan/water sprayer from the Sesame Street shop as it was hot, so I could lightly spray Bailey to keep him cool, and it had this little fan on it - worth every penny for us! And so this ends "Naomi's guide to babies and theme parks" LOL. Good Luck at the sleep seminar - feel free to report back with any useful findings for us to steal LOL
BG - that sucks re the astigmatisms, so sorry to hear, its bloody tough finding out our babies have health issues, and as a parent wouldn't we like to do ANYTHING to avoid it. Hope the paed opthamologist is helpful come May. Sorry to hear about DH not truck driving also, understandable why your day went to Shiat - Hugs
Cathy - perhaps these clingwrap babies are starting to go through the 'stranger danger' faze? I know Bailey is wary of blokes now, he is still a chick magnet but gives blokes a definate once over and sticks by Mum. I just got DH to download Up the other day as have been hearing great things about it, I must watch it - perhaps that will be my relaxing Friday Night!! Nice Ticker!
Bella - Thrush sucks, and so annoying how easily it recur's - hope J gets some relief. Moving with a baby must be SUPER frustrating - so Qudos to you for managing it! Is Jemima comfortable in her new home? All settled in?
Nicole - sounds like yesterdays appt was good news? Hope the paed gives Aaron the all clear
Bailey woke at 5am this morning - I went to settle him before he woke up DH, and it took me just over an hour - was about to sneak back into bed with him when I realised DH had decided to watch some TV in our room before heading to work, which meant I had to sneak back to the nursery as Bailey was 90% asleep and I didn't want the TV to wake him. I was super annoyed as (TMI sorry but its kinda funny) as I thought it was take a few minutes to settle him I didn't bother putting any clothes on so an hour or so later I was freezing, tired, and mega-p*ssed off and laying naked on the nursery floor with Bailey (who was warm as toast in his sleeping bag and little blanket which was too little to cover me hahahahahahah, but didn't want to sneak off in case he woke up completely. Anyway got him back to sleep for an hour so I guess it was worth it!! PMSL at my own stupidness!!
Oh Man........A few minutes ago I managed to get Bailey into his around we go playstation (which is no mean feat as I have to zip him in from below, which is kinda hard when Sean isn't here to hold him while I zip him in if that makes sense), anyway, it seems that everytime I finally get him in there alone, he does a poo a few minutes later so I just have to get him out again - DOH!!
And back to the change table we go ........
LOL

morning all!
just a quick one - my poppet is 8 months today! woot! off to the MCHN to get her weighed and measured, lunch at mum's and meeting up with a friend and her 3 month old while we're there. E is still sleeping - she had a big day yesterday, and apart from waking and crying out for feeds at 5 and 8, she has just slept and slept. i'm letting her go too - poor bubba had some serious belly pains last night! very traumatic for both of us
Happy 8 months E. I hope today is a better day for you all BG.

Just a quikie.
BG- *huge hugs* hun. I'm glad you got into James. He is awesome, and he really knows what he's on about. Fingers crossed all goes well. So very sorry to hear about DH's eyes. Fingers crossed he can get a transplant quickly.
Hi to everyone else. I promise I will get some persies done in the next few days. We are off to Melbourne on Monday to see Logans specialist, so will let everyone know how we go. Jake and Zac also start school mondaybut
at the same time.
Thanks for the tips about Seaworld Naomi! I think we'll have a great day! I just went and looked at your seaworld photos again hehehe Luckily you had an album called 'Gold Coast' so I found them easy hehe.
Happy 8mths to Emerald! Time sure does fly! Cara turns 8mths on sunday! Wow...
I wonder who will be walking first?? I think Cara will take her time as my other babies did. Though Ronan was taking steps at 11mths! I went back and read his little diary from those days and it was so cute! Yassie had come running it to tell me Ronan had taken steps towards her (she was 3 at the time). Cute I wrote in books for all the kids, anything special that they did, firsts etc.
I had a terrible time before trying to settle Cara...and then later she woke up and was sooo miserable....pulling badly at her ear! I felt like there was nothing I could do..it went on for so long, the whimpers. I gave her some panadol in the end. I had already given her bonjela a few times and I know I can't give her it more than 4 hourly or something. I actually got the teething necklace in the mail today and she wore it a bit of today and I had not had any irritability from her..but I took it off as she'd had a bath and was going to bed.
Where do you get your photo book done Naomi? I have thoughts of doing one for Cara.
I have a question for a friend of mine (and no it is NOT me!)
She had a scan at 5weeks 5 days and the heartbeat had only just started. She's concerned because the betas were really high. 16dpo - 2300, 19dpo - 4400 and 21dpo -7800. They are really high numbers and she knows it can be an indication of problems. I really want to know If anyone had anything similar happen to them and the outcome was ok?
I think she is worried about Downs syndrome. Can anyone give any advice/stories of someone that went through a similar situation and everything was ok?

Cathy - I have no idea re the correlation between high beta/hcg readings and down syndrome, but I do know that high hcg readings can be an indicator of twins or a multiple pregnancy - could she be carrying twins?
No, it's not twins. She told me there was only one sac and one heartbeat. The dr says it could be a miscarriage or downs....She is just wondering if anyone had similar and had no problems. I did actually post it for her in the normal pregnancy area of belly belly..and had a couple of replies so far.
Very quick post today! We made it safe and sound to the gold coast yesterday. Kyson was a little angel on the plane. He fell asleep just after the plane took off, and woke up while we were taxi-ing after landing!
We got settled in yesterday afternoon, and this morning we have been to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. It was very pretty, but probably not the best place for an (almost) 9 month old. He couldn't really see a lot of the stuff. The birds were too small and fast for him to really notice, the wombat was too slow, the snake was too slow... He liked the dingoes though during a little show. They came running out, so he got a good look at them. Oh, and we got a photo with a koala, lol!
Better run now, we're just about to head down to the swimming pool.
Can't wait for Seaworld!!!
Cathy - I hope everything is ok with your friends baby, how heartbreaking to think something could be wrong
Krystie, Bella and Cathy - have an awesome time at Seaworld!
Bailey is racist - Oh Dear! All jokes aside, On friday one of the Indian ladies at Mum's work gave him a cuddle and he burst into tears, and today he looked around at the TV to see Eddie Murphy and got upset and burst into tears - I realised that he has never really seen anyone with darker skin and for whatever reason it must have scared him, we are all pale pasty skin from english stock, not sure what to do? Any ideas? Is that heaps weird? It's kinda embarrassing.....![]()
Cathy- Im sooooo sorry to hear about your friend. Please let us know how she gets on.
Krystie- Enjoy the holiday! Im so jealous!
Naomi- Poor Bailey re the crying at darker skinned people. Im not really sure what it would be that would make him cry. Maybe keep showing him dark skinned people on the tv and see how he goes.
AFU, Well Jake and Zac are off to school tomorrow. Im kinda sad but kinda looking forward to the peace and quiet. After we drop them at school, we are heading to Melbourne, so all you Melbourneites better put on some good weather! LOL.
TTFN
we're off to Melbs tomorrow too - my cousin's hubby was in remission but has just found out he has cancer of the liver so E and I are braving a day with my olds to go and see him. am not sure that i want to go, esp without DH, but i will cos i don't want to regret it at any point...
Naomi - kids react to different people in different ways. around this age the seperation anxiety kicks in a little bit, so perhaps it's that. just keep exposing him as much as you can, but in a supportive way. if someone wants a cuddle, ask them to engage him first so he knows them. E is very picky about everyone (skin color is no issue) and has to know someone or she looks at me as if to ask what the hell i'm doing handing her over!
