WOOO HOOOO!!! Go Bailey!!!
That's awesome news Naomi. Can you ask the ortho if he can have the brace off for his birthday party? Even if it's just for an hour or so?
I've marked the day on my calendar. Thank you for the toothy stuff. I owe you big time!
Quick reply on here before the kids get on here and hog it hehe
Tried Cara on egg yolk the other night from some boiled eggs I did. She had some but pulled the biggest face and then refused to have any more hehe.
Cara started crawling a day or so ago! She was crawl, crawl, belly flop for awhile, but now she is full on doing it! INto everything! I have just put up my barrier gate between dining and kitchen, so she can't touch my bin and stove etc.
Cara was wiping/cleaning her bird bath toy last night with a baby wipe. So cute!! hehe I remember you guys saying that your babies did that too? Bailey??
Oh Cara only cries when you take something off her she can't have hehe. Then we see REAL tears!! (only time). She doesn't throw herself around yet though hehe.
She is really hard to change her nappy now too..squirms around everywhere Arghhh.
Naomi: So glad to hear things are going well with Bailey's hips! Woohoo!!
Got to clean up a bit... And getting a computer guy to look at computer tomorrow...printer won't work...fan is a bit stuffed...
Hi gorgeous girls! Sorry I have been neglecting you all I'm ashamed to blame it on the GDUNH!!! LOL!
Also, Kyson has been having a hard time of teething lately and is rather clingy. He doesn't want to play by himself, and even when he plays by himself, he wants me in arms reach. He's walking really well now and is brave enough to pull himself up on things then turn and let go to walk away from it. My little boy is so clever! Hehe.
I've been a good little girl taking all my injections. I'm doing them myself for two reasons... 1. DH isn't a fan of needles and wasn't keen on doing them, and 2. I'm a bit of a control freak and I like to do things myself to know that they are done "right" They don't hurt at all, but I still hesitate before I am able to plunge that needle into my own skin. I try to go "one, two, three" then stab, but I get to three and then just sit there holding it in the air. I'm getting better at just doing it quickly now though. Oh, and thanks girls for putting in the cycle details, it's great to read other cycle details too. BG, looks like you were having some pretty full on drug doses. Did you get any side effects? I haven't noticed anything major so far, which is surprising considering my body's reaction to many meds. I even had to go on the lowest dose pill because it made me so sick! The only things I've noticed is a funny dirty taste in my mouth after the injections, the orgalutran gives me an achy feeling at the injection site for about 10 minutes, and tonight I felt slightly dizzy and possibly a little nauseous after the Gonal F. Other than that I am just starting to feel a little bloated, which hopefully means I've got lots of ripening eggs. I go for my ultrasound tomorrow morning (7.45am!!!) to find out if I've ready for "harvesting"
Nay - Such awesome news about Bailey's hips! I shed a little tear when I read your fb status. I can't tell you how over the moon I am for you, Sean and of course Bailey
You should really stop lying about your age missy! Most people put their age back a few years, but you seem to be adding a few years to yours. I swear there is no way that you are turning 38 in 2012!!! That's just crazy talk
Cathy - Isn't it crazy how quickly they go from not quite crawling, to crawling like a pro? They are such clever little monkeys. I would like to put a gate across my kitchen, but it's a big wide opening and I would have to buy lots and lots of the extension things (which I think it gets unsafe if you have too many extensions...). We've decided to just go without, but luckily our oven is halfway up the wall, so higher than Kyson can reach, and our bins is in a cupboard. We're going to have to get the safety things that hold the draws closed though because Kyson has already got his fingers caught in them twice.
Oh, and I soooooo sympathise about nappy changes! I hate doing them at the moment. Kyson is all over the place during most changes. It's so hard to keep him still. I've tried doing him on the floor to be a little safer, but he's even quicker to try to get away down there!
Nicky - Go Allira! Isn't that first form of walking so adorable?! They are so wobbly but oh so cute hehe. I hope Lachie is better soon. Big hugs! It must be so hard to see him unwell, and super scary that you almost had to take him to the hospital. Does he still try to sleep with his head on Allira? That was so cute at our meet up.
Bridg - Gosh this teething business is hard work for our little puddings isn't it? I had my fingers crossed that Kyson would sail through without noticing he was teething, but it's been about 4 weeks now, and still there's now teeth! I can see that they are soooo close though.
Nic - I hope Aaron's voice gets back to normal soon. It's great that you'll soon know when all the tests for him will be. Hopefully it'll all be soon and the results won't take too long to come back. I'll keep my fingers crossed!
BG - Sounds like you've been doing some awesome landscaping work! I gave myself a pat on the back for managing to pull out some of the weeds that were threatening to take over the front garden, but that was nothing compared to what it sounds like you've been doing!
Bella - Oh gosh I would love to go to a homebirth! It was such an amazing experience being at my best friends first baby's birth (hospital birth), and I wish I could have been there for her second birth, but Kyson was only 3 months old and a crying 3 month old is probably not the most calming experience during birth hehe. A part of me wishes that I could convince DH that a home water birth would be a good idea for bub 2, but I know he'll never go for it. Maybe if we lived next door to a hospital... But not with us being as far from hospital as we are. I've thought about trying to stay at home longer next time and seeing if it just gets "too late" to leave, hehe.
Amy - I had the strangest TV crush for a while. Have you ever watched Charmed? I had a crush on "grown up" Chris. I could have squished him, rolled him into a little ball and eaten him all up! Oh, I also have a bit of a crush on Daniel Jackson from Stargate. Not in the early seasons, just in the later seasons when he had a better hair cut and got some attitude. I think the intellect thing gets me with him
Oh, Kyson has discoved Elmo and decided that he loves him. Does anyone know what the Emlo toy is called that does a whole bunch of stuff like sing and tell stories? When it falls over it even says something like "Uh oh, Elmo fell over. Can you help Elmo?", hehe cute. I think I want to get Kyson one for his birthday.
Oooh, gotta go. DH just came home with a macca sundae for me. It might be my last for 9 months so I should savour it, lol!
Cathy: Phoebe is a shocker on the change table too. I have to give her something to play with otherwise changing her is literally an impossibility. And normal toys often don't keep her occupied for long enough - I have to give her the tube of bum cream or a packet of wipes - something she doesn't usually get to play with in order to get enough time to clean her up!
Nicky: Poor Lachie Seeing them so subdued is really hard. Hope he's firing on all cylinders again soon. And woohoo @ Allira walking! Lookout - 2 toddlers in the house!
Bridg: Poor Logan with the teeth Glad the teething gel is working for him. I have been very interested to hear about this magic SA teething gel! If we were having tooth issues here I'd be knocking on Naomi's door but I think Phoebe is only going to have two teeth... there's no sign of any more to come, LOL!
Nic: Glad Aaron has the all-clear from the GP so far - I hope the croaky voice doesn't turn into something yuck. There have been quite a few colds about. Hope the voice is the worst of it for Aaron. Will you go to the kids hospital for Aaron's tests? What do they involve? Glad you have got him sorted for winter. Both my girls will be living in hand-me-downs this winter, which is ok. I find unpacking a box of hand-me-downs almost as good as going shopping, LOL!
BG: Hope E had a better night last night, poor darling. Sounds like you've done great with your clearing up in your mum's yard! Come here and work on ours, LOL! We've got a half-finished water feature that DH won't pull his finger out and fix up. It's driving me nuts.
Nay: The comparison pics of you and Bailey are gorgeous! I must get out my baby photos again from Mum and Dad's.
Gotta get ready to go. Will BBL to finish this up. LOL!
Yay Bailey! that's fantastic news Naomi - so happy for you all!
Amy - not a chance on the gardening hun! we have THREE half finished water features - two that we haven't managed to get an electrician in to put the power where we need it (in our front yard - they're kinda bird bath water features) and one around near the study - that we had working, then DH decided to plant stuff near it (without telling me) that has just gone nuts and made it impossible to get at. i am NOT happy! i LOVE the sound of running water - nothing more relaxing - and i can't use it! we need to get the power supply fixed up for that one too though - it's outside the study window, so the bright idea he had was to run the three cords (two for the pumps, one for the lights) back through the window - yup - cos THAT's a long term solution! lol
KL - the drug doses i was on were fairly high - i know to get E on an IUI cycle (where they just try to get you to ovulate with one or two follicles) i was on doses from 150 to 200IU. for the IVF cycle i was on 300IU (and got 59 dominant - greater than 10mm - follicles before they stopped counting at U/S) 22 eggs, 11 immature (stupid PCOS - it screws everything up), only five fertilised properly. i ended up with mild to moderate hyperstimulation - very uncomfy, but nothing too dangerous. i will offer you some advise that was offered to me. if you have good scales, weigh yourself before trigger shot and then monitor your weight after EPU. if you hyperstimulate, you will gain weight rapidly (like up to a kilo a day in bad cases). it's not that common (much more common in us lucky PCOS chickies - cos apparently we don't have enough going on!) - but definitely worth keeping an eye on. drink lots of water, throw in some powerade or gatorade or sustagen if you can (for the replacement of electrolytes). if you feel exceptionally bloated after EPU don't hesitate to ring your clinic. if you are a little concerned about things, at ANY time, you have my mobile number - message or ring. i have no drama talking you through any concerns you may have. hope the u/s this morning went ok hun! it's all happening very quick for you!
AFU - no more landscaping at mum's for a while - but need to get stuck into things at home again. nt a lot i can do as we have to work around E - our yard isn't really "E friendly" for now - and to get mum to come and sit with her (like she did at her place) it's almost impossible cos she can't come out til dad goes to work - gets here around 4.30 - by then, E is kinda over it (and to be honest, so am I!).
day 4 out an about with mum today. last day of helping her for a while. went shopping with her yesterday to put a couch on layby for E for her birthday (FINALLY found one that wasn't smothered with DORA!), and to help her fid stuff for my nieces for Easter. today we'll finish what didnt' get done yesterday. how is it that we went to three major shops (Kmart, target, bigW) - all three were busy and all three only had ONE person working layby - with massive queues! how hard is it for someone to jump in and help? grrrrr
anyhoot - just waiting for E to wake (which she's doing now) and mum to show up (in about half hour) and then we're off. like KL, i'm spending time on the GDUNH, and have a clingy teething bubba.
am waiting on an image i'm having "manipulated" to arrive so i can print it! soooooooooooo hoping it gets here before mum arrives - i really really really want to print it today!
Lachie is improving slowly. He's MUCH better than he was on Wednesday. I'm taking him to the GP today just to get him checked out and ask a few questions. Glad I could get in pretty easily.
Allira's still a nutter. I've been thinking about her Birthday, and decided to do a hungry catterpillar theme. Hoping that SIL can do the invitations for me, otherwise I can source some. Planning on having some of the foods from the book as the party food. Will try and think of a few games in the meantime aswell. Might just have it in the local hall... better than having it at home, and at least that way the kids will have plenty of room to run around and play (also worried about May weather).
Well, I have to go and start getting organised for Lachie's appointment. Worst part about being so isolated... I need a few hours to get ready and then have to add in my hours travel time.
jamie loves elmo too Krystie - it think its called elmo live i wanted to get one for jamie too the age reccomendation is 18 months but oh well lol
well jamie is finally properly sick for the first time and i feel like i could sleep all day after last night and hes not napping at all today ok i lied he just went down then its a long one took him to the doc and he said oh theres nothing i can do just clean his nose with hot water and saline drops meanwhile im getting no sleep i finally get wat sleep deprivation is coz i swear ive never felt this zombie like ever im off to have a nap xoxo
Krystie: Haven't seen either of those series, but I'll believe you
It's funny - I am not at all lustful after these good lookers TBH. Nay, you speak of your celebrity f*** and I have to admit that that's kind of not on my mind... It's sort of like looking at a nice painting, KWIM? There're no hormones racing or anything. But I'm a tough nut to crack these days (just ask DH, whose attempts at cracking are practically on a daily basis, he's so deprived). So I can fully agree that Johnny Depp is SCRUMPTIOUS (I have thought so since 21 Jump Street) but wouldn't jump him if I had the chance - I'd be afraid of bruising his beautiful body: a mighty shame to damage something so pleasing to look at. AND I totally get your DH's interest in Heather Graham too. I think she's hot. I also really think Miranda Kerr is one of the most beautiful people in the world. I love looking at her almost as much as Johnny Depp. Does that make me a bit gay? LOL! Honestly, it's purely aesthetics...
BG: Those couches are a must for every kid, I reckon. Natty's is sooooo well-loved. She's got a Winnie the Pooh one. Glad you found one and that you eventually got some service.
Nicky: Love the hungry caterpillar theme! Natty loves that book - calls it the "callapitta" book. LOL!
Jacinta: Sorry to hear that Jamie is sick too! You are probably also dead-tired because you're preggers. I was asleep on my feet the first 10 weeks or so, and I had a kid who slept pretty well overnight at that stage. I hope things improve soon.
Cathy- Logan hates getting his nappy changed too! It's a major fight just to put a nappy on him. If I let him, he would quite happily be a nudist. Yay for Cara crawling!
Krystie- Sorry to hear Kyson has been a bit grumpy from the teething. Is he only like that when his step brothers are at school?
Amy- I'm beginning think Logan may only have 2 teeth too! The top ones aren't showing any signs of coming through when I look at his top gum. We give Logan a baby wipe to play with when he is getting his nappy changed, and then he carts it around until it goes dry.
Nicky- Glad to hear Lachie is getting better. What's the hungry caterpillar?
Jacinta- Sorry to hear Jamie is sick. Hopefully you won't get it.
AFU, I put Logan on the grass the other day, and he freaked out. I put just his feet on, and he still did the same thing. Does the same with putting his feet on concrete. Will really on put feet, hands and knees on carpet, lino, tiles.
Bridg - the hungry caterpillar is a book for kids about a caterpillar that eats everything - nice theme Nicky!
i'm sitting here looking at the pic i posted on FB - the one that was creatively manipulated -- and trying to decide if i can use that for invites... hmmm decisions decisions... lol
Krystie - We have the 'Elmo Live' - that is definately the one you are talking about, being the self proclaimed Sesame Street Guru I can assure you that you are on the right track!! Bailey likes him, but occassionally it freaks him out and he drops his bottom lip, so we put Elmo out of sight, it really depends on what mood he is in. I'm pretty sure we got it from either Target or Kmart, but it was 2 christmas's ago (we bought it when I was pg), so not sure if they are easy to find, maybe an online store if you cant find it? You are sweet, I wish I WAS lying about my age. I tell you some days I feel like an old woman, I am so unfit atm, I have decided that going back to work will be good for my diet - no more mothers group morning tea cake-fests or browsing through the pantry a million times a day. I went grocery shopping this arvo and bought up on salad and fruit for my lunch box! Glad to hear all is going well with the cycle - hope you had some grade A follicles waving at you at your ultrasound this morning, sounds like you are handling it all like a pro babe!
Cathy - nappy changes are getting challenging here too, although from a brace perspective they are difficult anyway (especially poo's), at least his legs are held open by the brace so if I can keep his hands out of it I can clean up relatively well. The problem we have is that Bailey was just bawling when we laid him on the change table. I now give him a sample pack of the wipes that come with the big nappy boxes, he is so intrigued that it usually amuses him long enough for me to get the nappy changed. Once he tires of that I'll give him something new. I have to turn him onto his belly though to put a new nappy under the brace bar, and that sucks as now he pushes up onto his knees as soon as I flip him which squeezes his bum up against the bar, so I have to be mega quick Just call me Speedy 'Nappy' Gonzales!!
J - hope Jamie feels better soon, and that you dont get it!
Amy - LOL @ you being a bit gay, I think its perfectly normal to appreciate another womans beauty so you sound perfectly hetro to me PMSL. Yeah, re the celebrity F***, its really all talk, no lusting or anything How's work going? Are you in the swing of things now? Does it feel like normal life again? I pulled out my handbag and gave it a clean out (I think I might request a new one for mothers day!!) and filled it up, and I have packed a bag of stuff to set up my desk - eg photos, nice coffee, my coffee mug and a huge box of tissues. Although emotional, surprisingly I am starting to feel quite excited, is that normal? I guess that now that its all a reality I am ready to just get the first day over with and start my 'changed' daily life, if I can't change it I guess embracing it is the way to go....
Nic - I had a look in target for the egg thing yesterday with no luck - was it in with the regular toys or the baby section? I have another local target I might try on the weekend, if I get stuck I will take you up on your offer to shop on my behalf
Bridg - the teething gel is on the way, posted this arvo. Sounds like Logan is aware of different textures with the grass issue. Bailey seems to like it - he curls his toes into it (we have nice soft grass) and has even tried to eat it LOL
Nicky - that is the most awesome party theme - I love the Hungry Little Caterpillar!! - I must get that book, I love remembering books from my childhood, it makes me want to discover them all over again for Bailey tehehehehehe. We are having Baileys party at home (which I know I'll regret when I have to clean up after) but as we'll have a few family staying they can help!!
BG - what IS it with half finished water features? Ours took aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages to put up, but its still not hooked up to the power and Sean still has to put the pond lights in it - I think he is waiting for my little bro to come over from Perth for Baileys birthday, Simon is an electronics technician so he can help Sean wire it all up. We have a little flip out couch too - its Winnie the Pooh also, we dont use it much atm though, we used it when Bailey was first sitting up and couldn't fit in the high chair so it got a bit trashed with food
AFU - Bailey is getting cheekier and cheekier, boy he has a wonderful sense of humour. I shudder to think of the mischief he and Sean will create as he grows He has had me in stiches lately, and then he laughs along at me which makes me laugh even more! We had a great day today - I think he knows it was officially my last day of mat leave and wanted to make it a memorable one for me. He is forever throwing his arms around my neck and I tell you my heart just melts everytime, I love having a baby that is always giving cuddles, he squeezes so tight its just beautiful.
Well I suppose I should also apologise in advance as no doubt my posting ability and persies will decline with my return to work, but I will be lurking and try to post as much as possible. If all else fails then Wednesday nights when Sean goes to band I will declare it BB night for me LOL. I think I might jump on in my work breaks so I can keep up though
I think Bailey is eating too much pumpkin ......LOL
I was just looking at this photo Naomi Graetz's Photos | Facebook and thought he looked a bit 'tanned'. I googled it and found this..... "Babies who eat a lot of carrots or pumpkin can get yellow or orange skin from substances called carotenoids. These substances from the vegetables are chemicals related to Vitamin A, and are not toxic, and will not cause any harm."
I would give him some pumpkin just about everyday (cos he loves the stuff), I think thats the reason. I'll get Sean to take him to the CYH nurse next week just to check
having a bit of a bad week. E has been teethin - the tooth gets soooooooo close than goes away again. anyway - she's not been sleeping much - seems to be worst at night time. between midnight and 6 she has been waking and needing a feed at least four times (are we due a growth spurt?) - anyway, last night we hit 7pm and i put her into bed. she woke an hour later (normal) quite distressed. snuggle, feed, snuggle, back to bed. same about an hour later. wasn't feeling great about what that meant for the night! this kept up til midnight, when she had her feed, then off to bed - and nothing til 5.30 - feed and back to sleep. woke at 7 - same - feed and back to sleep - and has only surfaced just now (9.45). she is feeding often, sleeping more... sounds growth spurtish... she also hasn't had a dirty nappy for a few days again.. a little worried but just keeping an eye on her. this morning she is full of beans again and very smiley so we'll see what happens
Hey mum's and bubs..been a bit MIA with the garage build slightly driving me nuts!!
Everything has been done and will take 4 days to build which starts on Monday...Woo Hoo
Aaron was having an off day yesterday thanks to mum being here I got get so much done.
He is still waking up at least 3-4 times a night...and it feels like my eyes are popping out of my head.
Still waiting to confirm dates for the tests but hope to know early next week.
We also have booked Aaron's Blessing/Naming day for the 11th April so we have something fun to look forward too!!
Naomi, the black skull rattle is so cute...Your place looks like baby land so Aaron and I have decided to visit so he can have a play too!!
The egg thing is in the normal toy area.
May go to the shops today so I'll pick one up for you just in case
Oh yeah Aaron's tip of his noise is also a tad on the orange side, but I find all the food I make or buy is always orange?!?!?
BG, poor E. Hope that tooth hurries up so the little lady can give you and her some sleep.
Bridg, I also put Aaron on the grass yesterday. So funny his toes curled up...Maybe you need to put Logan on the Brady Bunch Lawn...heheheheh
Jacinta, hope Jamie is feeling better today.
Cathy, someone is liking Farmville BTW thanks for some gold...hehehe
We just need to get all the other mums on there too!!
PMSL Naomi, I have heard of that before! We had a friend who was sure her son was jaundiced and was told the same thing. Too many orange veges DH cracked me up at the time by saying his uncle was orange too (he's vegan).
Sounds like you are all set for work. I have found it good for my diet too, although on my days off I am still hopeless I totally understand your excitement. I'll admit to still getting a bit of a kick the night before a work day, knowing I have something I need to be up for and need to get dressed up for, something where someone (besides my lovely family) is needing me and relying on me. There's a little bit of stress still, because it is still new and I'm still learning and I'm just waiting for when I make my first mega mistake. But I think being excited about a new phase in life (while I know you are returning to the same work, it's still new - you've never worked and had a son before) is totally normal and healthy. And that the sadness is also normal and healthy - it only means that we miss our babes. Can I just say though, I would be in so much trouble if I had a photo of Phoebe with me at work - my boobs go crazy enough as it is. I'm kind of jealous of you there, LOL!
BG: Will hunt that pic of yours down on FB when I get a sec. I'm sure it looks fabulous, as you have such an eye for these things.
Bridg: Love the thought of Logan cruising about with a wipe! LOL! So cute. The very hungry caterpillar was a fave of mine as a kid. The book's been around for a while, and has been a popular kids book because it's quite fun in its layout. The pages are different lengths and have little holes in them just the right size for a little person's finger. Perhaps I might gift Logan with a copy - the thought of you and your boys missing out on that book is a bit sad!
Not having a great day today. We had a good breakfast out, but I'm feeling a bit cross with DH. I am struggling with some issues we talked about last night and also with the fact that he's been "incredibly tired" since coming home. He's been on holiday FFS! I just feel like the balance is always tipped in his favour these days. I thought we were supposed to be a partnership. Humph. Anyway, I am trying not to stew over it and just think of positive things and ways to combat what I'm feeling. Sometimes it doesn't help just to verbalise these things to DH - I have to also work out some sort of practical solution or compromise in order to make things better. Just feeling so flat.
I hope the rest of you are having a good weekend.
ETA: Sorry Nic - took me a while to get that posted and missed yours and BG's latest updates. Will BBL to reply.
