BG- They won't look at giving him glasses until he is older, and it may not improve his vision much. Because the eyes develop so much in the 1st 8 years, it is really hard to predict anything, so it's a waiting game really.
Cathy- I think these babies need to stop doing so much 'big peoples' things!
AFU, We are off to the MCHN soon for Logan's post James appointment.
hmmm, if E turns out to have the eye problems i have, she will be getting glasses - i'm not going to wait indefinately just cos she is young. i have the same problems the local guy said E appears to have - and 28years after getting my first glasses, i haven't grown out of it! i don't think she will either - astigmatisms are pretty much a life long thing....
Bridg - glad to hear Logan's appt went well. Have fun at the MCHN today.
Glad to hear you girls had a great time catching up!! I can't wait to be able to take the kids to the theme parks one of these days.
How is everyone? All is going well here, doesn't look like the kids will be affected by FIL's shingles which is great. He is on the mend, but can't watch TV, read, or have lights on as it's affecting his eyes pretty bad. Hopefully his eyes are ok at the end of all of this.
Kids are same old. Allira standing up everywhere showing off and will walk along only holding one of my fingers now. Amazed at her strength for her age.... DS was so different (although he was also smaller).
It's my sister's 21st today, so we're heading into town tonight for dinner. Allira will be good... just whack her in the high chair and continually give her food and we won't hear a peep! haha. Lachie on the other hand.... I'm going prepared with 2 bags full of activities.
Anyway, lots to do before we head off.

Jamie crawls like a monkey lol on his hands and feet and he really gets around and even out the front door the other day :o and he tries to crawl off my bed and hes climbing the furniture i want him to go back to when he would fall asleep in my arms and stayed in one spot its not fair :(

I got the disposable camera developed today. I took photos of the photos as scanner does not work. Have a look!
Took Cara to the chemist and weighed her on the baby scales...10.92kg!! Not bad for just turned 8mths old eh? hehe Think she is my biggest one yet! Laura was 10.8kg at 8mths. But Cara weighed 3710gm at birth, Laura weighed 4020gm. So Cara has really caught up well!
I agree Bridg, these babies need to stop doing grown up things hehe. Cara seems pretty much on track as far as her development goes...not trying to crawl even yet...just up on all 4s the last week or so. She will reach out far on her belly and shuffle up a bit to grab anything she really wants though..like the remote!! The other 3 kids crawled at 9mths and I expect Cara will too. Yassie walked at 14mths, Ronan at 12mths, Laura at 16mths! Yassie and Ronan only weighed 6lb 11oz though (3kg). They were born 39+ or 40 weeks like the other two. Ronan was born on his due date and Cara was almost on her due date (by 1.35hrs hehe). Both Yassie and Laura were breech caesar babies. It's funny that they have that in common...Laura & Yassie - breech/caesar. Ronan/Cara - on due date/natural births.
I TOTALLY get how you can fall in love with them more and more every day! And....it still amazes me that I can love all 4 of my kids the same! :) There is enough love to go round!

We're just heading off for dinner, but wanted to quickly say that I'll try to get all the seaworld (and other holiday pics) uploaded tonight :) I ADORE Kyson's photo with Elmo and Grover all by himself. Too cute. When Elmo let him go I tried to get him to crawl to me, but he stayed there, so Elmo grabbed him again and the girl running the photo thingy had to tell Elmo that he couldn't keep Kyson, hehe.
Oh, and wanted to ask if Kyson is the only one that still hasn't got any teeth? Not that I'm unhappy with it, just curious. I like his little gummy smiles :D

Thanks so much for taking the photos again! Really appreicate it!! Even the photo lady at the kodak shop was asking me what was going on ..as I was using a disposable camera LOL. And I had to say "Oh it's ok, I just forgot my camera" hehe. She knows me well and my kids photos hehe
BG- I doubt James will want to hold off on getting her glasses. There was a little girl in the waiting room who was only just walking, and she had glasses. Logan's eyesight won't be fixed by glasses unfortunately.
AFU, Went ok at the MCHN today. Logans development isn't that of an 8 month old, which I already knew. His eyesight has affected the rate/time he will do things. We have to go back on the 15th for a 2nd screening. The MCHN also said Logans hips and legs need to be looked at asap (Naomi knows the story), so we are back off to the Drs again to get a scan and/or x-ray and a referral to another pead that will hopefully let me in quicker. Means going private, but at the end of the day, money is nothing.
Krystie- Sounds like you are enjoying your holiday. I could only dream of a holiday at the moment!
BG - I was thinking about your post today and I think that sometimes our parents ways have a lot to do with the environment they were brought up in to (especially our Dads), and 30 or so years ago parenting ideas were quite different from the nuturing ways of today. I know my Dad found it hard to show us affection, his own father was a real task master (and a bit of a pr*ck too) and although Dad has softened significantly, he was a strict disciplinarion when we were younger and sometimes we thought he didn't love us (he did - alot), but when you are a kid its hard to understand. Now he is soft as a marshmallow! However we had a great childhood so I really dont know how you must feel, but it must be hard to fathom though that the love and affection you show E perhaps wasn't shown to you in the same way so I just want to give you a big hug :hug: I know from previous posts that there is a lot more to it than that, but your awareness and reflection of your situation is what will give you the strength to break the cycle as you are clearly a fantastic Mum to E which I hope you know, and are proud of :):
Today my mothers group had a catch up with some Mums and Bubs we hadn't seen for a while, the other babies are VERY developed - almost walking, crawling up a storm, climbing etc. It really struck me today how hindered Bailey is with his brace as he sat stationary as all the other babies played together, crawling after each other etc and I had a little cry. So ENJOY your rapidly developing babies doing all the things they should be doing :) (sorry to get on my soapbox but I would LOVE to chase Bailey around!!)

BG- I think what Naomi said was spot on. You and DH ARE awesome parents, and you show E alot of love and I know you will support her with anything she does when she gets older.
Naomi- Huge hugs honey. I can sort of relate to having the baby that's not doing what everyone else's babies are doing, and it IS hard. I think that when Bailey gets his brace off, you and DH won't be able to keep up with him, because he will be unstoppable!!!
Hugs Naomi - i can't imagine how confronting it must have been in that situation. hoping you are ok with it now
i think you are right - i am not my parents, and i am doing all i can to make sure E doesn't have my upbrining. my dad was not just a hardass - he was much worse. he ended up having to go onto the strongest antidepressants on the market to control his temper after throwing me across the room as a teenager. he is a much different person now with his grandchildren but it doesnt' change how he was with us. if anything, it makes it worse because i can see how he should have been and what he is capable of in terms of affection and stuff.

I am sorry I am not much use to anyone atm but know that I am thinking of you all and lurk as much as possible but the last few days have just been laying low.
Aaron had his u/s done last week and still WAITING for his paed to call me with the results, I guess it really doesn’t matter anymore as Aaron will be seeing a Neurosurgeon a week after next for a second opinion. He will also be having a CT scan done that day as well.
My heart is falling apart in this waiting game and all I see is a happy loving little man the thought of possible surgery scares the crap out of me. I know it is ONLY another opinion but why is this scaring me soooo much :wall:
Anyway I better go and get some Zzzzz

Nic: Sweety, the very thought of either of my children needing surgery scares me. But you are right, it is just another opinion. Plus, perhaps seeing a different specialist may in fact set your mind at ease a little more? It is just waiting that does your head in. Who is your pead? My niece's paed is up in the Hunter but they struggle with the same issue - they are always waiting for him. :hug:
Jacinta: Agh, I wouldn't cope with a 10pm bedtime. But then, I know I am up well before 8am on a good day, so that's probably why.
BG: You are DEFINITELY a different person to your parents. You are so patient with E, so understanding of her needs.
It's interesting what Nay says though. I'd have to agree that my dad is totally different now to what he was back then. But he was never abusive, just absent.
Bridg: So sorry that Logan's sight has hindered his development. And OMG, I'm sorry for the hips scare... I really hope he gets the all-clear in that regard. Do let us know how he gets on.
Naomi: Very insightful re the parents. I have often wondered at the way my Dad is so attentive to my kids. Also, even my mum is so much more relaxed and less strict with my children than she was with us. I remember her being very loving and affectionate, but I was scared of being in trouble with her too - she did the best death-stares. But with my kids, she is so lenient, so understanding of toddler-isms. It's either the fact that she's now Grandma and therefore the kids can't really do wrong, or that she worked as a kindy teacher when we were in high school and has been educated in effective ways to deal with little kids... Either way, she's a different person now to then.
Honey, I am sorry for the way the brace has held Bailey back. But. If I'm completely honest, I am really surprised that the 8-9mo babies we are all seeing are so mobile. I think it's an anomaly. In my mothers group with Natalie, most babies were crawling before her (she only began crawling at 11mo, only rolled at 9mo) but she was one of the first to walk at 14mo! With one exception, they all were at least 12mo before they started to walk. HPs I've spoken to say not to worry about walking until 18mo, then if they're not doing it, maybe start to investigate. Crawling isn't a milestone at all. And sitting is supposed to be mastered by around 9mo. Yes, it's really hard seeing other kids develop before yours. I thought Phoebe would be crawling by now, but she's not. She moves around, yes, but she still hasn't worked out how to get those knees and hands moving. I'm ok with it. Truly! It's no indication of how smart she is or isn't... in fact, if they don't walk til later then they have the smarts about them not to bash themselves into things as much, LOL! But I'm really struggling with Natty not being toilet trained yet. I don't know what it is - to me, it seems like this massive failure on both our parts. I'm being mega honest here - wouldn't admit that to anyone but you guys. I don't know how I can feel ok about her not having made any progress in 6 months. *shrug* So yeah, I do know how it feels to be disappointed that your kid isn't right there along with their peers.
Cathy: I had a look at your pics very quickly the other night - you did a great job with the sposie camera! Looks like you guys had a fabulous day. I LOVE the 'worlds' and would go there again in a heartbeat. Bummer that they are quite exxy though, and that my DH hates rollercoasters, LOL! I love them. We need to go with my bestie and her DH because he loves them and she hates them. We can partner-swap for the day ;)
Krystie: There have been a few teeth erupt around here lately, but not sure who's got them or not. Phoebe has had two teeth for months now but no more! LOL! She's been a two-toothed girl for ages. Natalie was the same, it took so long for the top teeth to come through. You may find that Kyson gets his teeth in very quick succession. My nephew got his first tooth at 11mo then he had 8 teeth at 13mo. (And they didn't really bother him either.) But you're right - gummy smiles are GORGEOUS. Those teeth change the look of their faces so much, so enjoy this look while you can.

Hi girls! I just wanted to give you all GBH. I am sorry some of you are going through some tough times, and don't worry, I sit here some days and just think to myself how lucky we are that the kids are healthy and so far don't have any real issues.

Krystie - Allira has no teeth either. Can't even really feel any in her gums, so could be a while yet.
Amy - All the best for you interviews today! I'm sure you will impress everyone and kick some interview butt!
Nicole - I just want to give you a big hug. We were preparing ourselves for being where you are with DS, we're just lucky all of his problems they told me about during the pregnancy turned out to not be problems. GBH for you and your little man.
Bridg - A big hug for you too. I hope that the appts for Logan's hips go better than expected. xx
Naomi - I can picture Bailey sitting there sussing out all the other kids, and working out what he wants to do... once that brace comes off he'll be gone! I can't imagine how you are feeling (and sorry for putting my foot in it with all the bragging). xx
BG - My parents are different with my kids aswell. My dad was a bit of a hard ass when we were kids, and now he is the worlds biggest softie and these kids can wrap him around their little fingers with the tiniest little smirk. It's a bit weird to see actually.
You are a wonderful Mum! You can see the love pour from your posts! Seriously! You've been so attentive to E's needs and seem so in tune with her. You are doing a wonderful job. xx

Please DONT keep it in check, I actually LOVE hearing how proud we all are of our babies achievements, and I want to keep hearing about it. I was feeling a bit low yesterday and the Mums that returned for a visit yesterday are no where near as sensitive and caring as you guys. One of them was all "Woe is me, its so haaaaaaaaaaaaaard, she's into EVERYTHING, I wish she'd just sit in ONE PLACE, it was so EAAAAASY then, at least Bailey stays in one place". I really had to bite my tongue and not say b*tchily "Be careful what you wish for Lady!!". I thought it was such a stupid thing to say. I'm happy to offer up Baileys hip dysplasia to her if she wants an immobile child - FFS woman!!!:
Anyway - please don't apologise, and dont change what you guys post..... or I'll have to get back on my bloody soap box again LOL :D
Oo, I didn't think you were "bragging", Nicky. It truly is lovely to hear how wonderfully and rapidly these kids are developing! Don't feel you need to hold back on my account. I am having a tough time dealing with Nat, but am really not worried about Phoebs. Like Naomi, I have friends who put it on in a really competitive way... even my aunt! She said the other week that my cousin just announced one day that she didn't want to wear nappies anymore and never had an accident after that. And she was only just 2! I roll my eyes now, but it's really not what I need to hear, you know? It's like she's telling me Natty's an idiot because her 2yo could TT in a flash and my 3yo's in nappies still.
I don't think anyone on here talks about their kids' development in a competitive way.
HEY! I got a job!!! Went to the interview @ 9 this morning and got the phone call at 11, LOL! It's secretarial work for a neurosurgeon so I think it will be very interesting too! There's a 3 month probationary period, but it all seems very positive so far. So, there's my woohoo!

Yeah, I have chatted with the woman I'll be job-sharing with a fair bit today. She says once I get my head around it I'll probably find it really "pleasant" work, LOL! The downside is that it's 3 days per week, not 2, but I'll deal. Will have to work out childcare because the days are all wrong, but even with all that I feel really positive about it.
I am going to do two days next week - starting on Monday! Eek! But that's mainly just training, observation etc. Then I'll go in on Thursday. Then the following week I'll do three days. But we're still working it out - there's a lot of training and its a pretty steep learning curve I guess. She did say that if I get a brain tumour I'm in the right place - he's a pretty damn good doctor. (He's no McDreamy though, PMSL!)

AFU, I have the referal for the CT which is on the 15th Feb and then seeing the neuro on the 26th Feb at 7.15am :wall:. At least by the EOM we will have a better idea on what is going on.

Nicky, i don't think you've been bragging any more than the rest of us! and definitely not in a "my kids are better than yours" way. all our bubbas will hit milestones slightly before or slightly after others in the group. doesn't make them better or worse. E was slower getting mobile, but has a good vocab, so it doesn't worry me and i'm sure it's the same for everyone. Naomi - if those biatches upset you about Bailey's mobility again, let me at them! B will get there soon enough and when he does, you will be able to celebrate just as we have. for now though, you need to focus on the things he can do in spite of his brace - he's doing damn well!
Nicole - wouldn't it be funny if the neurosurgeon you're taking A to is the one Amy is working for now?? sorry - was the first thing i thought!
AFU - meltdown city last night - think E had a belly ache - has been her normal self today though - go figure!
BG - Good advice, I normally do focus on all the good stuff, but when sometimes some people just have a way of making you feel crap by bragging about their own achievements (or their babies in this case). Luckily my mothers group will just continue with the three of us only, no more visits from these Mums (I dont think we'll be inviting the others back again, I think we had forgotton how obnoxious they were), the girls I see each week are lovely and supportive, and one of the lovely Mums also takes her DD to swimming with Bailey and I. There are only three of us left, but as we will all be working part time, we should be able to continue meeting up and as we are all local, we are hoping our kids go to the same school hahahaha. I hadn't really expreienced the whole 'baby contest' mother before so now I know what others are talking about when they mention competitive mothers - they are innocent babies FFS!
Nicole - Best of luck (and lots of hugs) for Feb 15th and 26th , I hope you get great news, especially as you will have to get up so early - thats one early appt!!!! I hope you are able to enjoy the next weeks and not stress too much about the appt, but as Mums is easy to give ourselves that advice, but much harder to follow it! I'm starting to plan Baileys First Birthday, Its only really 2.5 months away and I want it pretty much sorted by the time I go back to work (which is only 4 weeks now arrrggghhhhhh). I need help with some wording on the invites though, this is what I have, but it just doesn't 'flow' nicely, any ideas? BG you have some talent in this area...... its really the last line that's doing my head in

don't fret about planning early - i have already been talking to DH about whether we'd have a "theme" as such. E is such an easy going kidlet and just enjoys everything - so we can't do a particular theme (she is obsessed with her pool, but late may and pools - i don't think so!) - so we have pretty much designed her birthday cake, and we're planning on having it on the day of her birthday given it's the Saturday (so, ladies, if you don't have plans on May 29 and want to make the trip out here, E's birthday is on!).
i have to decide how to work out her invites to link in with her cake (yes, i'm a weirdo like that) and then decide whether we have it here or at the local hall (or at mum's or my bro's - they are mildly more winter party friendly... have to work out exactly how to do her cake too - so that it works without looking crap lol - ideas are going a hundred miles per minutes but not sure how to put it in practice
