E uses the 6-18month one - definitely more than 10cm room in there and she is about average height by the grow charts - i'd say there is close to 25cm excess at her feet.

Thanks Vic, it sounds like I am on track with using the 6-18 month one. I might take you up on the UK grobag purchase if I end up going up a size later in the year. Not sure if we will still use them once Bailey is standing though, I am thinking they then become a trip hazard. Does Ryan have the option for Work-From-Home? I know some of the Optus depts have this option, but its very dependant on what your role is. I've found Optus to be very flexible with part time workers, they seem to be very open-minded about work/family life balance so I hope this helps you guys later in the year :)
Amy - LOL @ the mental picture of Phoebes doing a bit of a hunt and gather for dinner hehehehehe. Bailz has started blowing kisses too, he's been doing the open mouthed drool pashes for months but as far as actually doing a proper kiss where you get the lip smacking sound - that only started last weekend - too cute, although he mostly does it during dinner hahahahaha. He is such a funny bugger atm, last night he was in bed with us and I let rip with a bit of a fart (TMI I know) and the cheeky bugger started laughing - I thought he was asleep!! It cracked me up! Anyway it's romance-a-plenty in our room with these shenanigins PMSL. Happy Birthday for Monday! Sean doesn't know but Bailz and I are taking him out for lunch at one of the nice pubs near the city that has an indoor golf driving range (and the yummiest little chocolate shoppe!!). So we'll have a yummy lunch and then I'll spring him a bucket of balls and Bailz and I will hide behind the shatter proof glass to watch him belt the sh*t out of them :D Oh and yeah, the sneaking in doesn't work - Bailz hears the roller door go up before I even drive in the driveway, I have no hope, he has usually crawled to the door before I even get inside - I feel very loved!
Bridg - Glad to hear the twins missed Mum! Day Light Savings ending has its perks, although we've had some early mornings, getting Bailz to sleep at night when its dark is a lot easier. I wasn't too worried as when we went to Perth in January he adjusted to the 2.5hr time difference by the second day. This morning he woke early but fell back to sleep (Wooohoooo)
BG - You are probably right, E would be feeling your anxiety, these little ones are very intuitive. Sorry to hear about the family guff at Easter. Family suck sometimes. Sean's brother and his family aren't coming to Baileys naming day / birthday as its their 11 yo's birthday on that actual day. While I kinda understand, its their kids birthday after all, it is disappointing, I know Sean really wanted them there as they have really mended their relationship over the last 12 months and this is such an important day for Sean, Bailz & I. I think we expected that as we are having it at lunch time, it left the afternoon/evening free for them. Never mind!! I haven't had an RSVP from my brother and family in Shepparton yet, again I totally understand if they cant come - its a bloody long drive with 2 kids, but I know I'll be disappointed if they dont. But in fairness to them, they came over to meet Bailz when he was 7 weeks old, AND come over again at Xmas. Seans brother lives 20 mins away and didn't meet Bailey until he was 12 weeks old!
Cathy - sorry to hear about the sickness sweeping through the family recently, I totally understand how tough it must be to deal with solo, when Bailz was sick I was heavily relying on Sean and I didn't have 3 other kids to worry about. You are a great Mum, I am constantly in awe of you mate. Your pic's show how much love there is in your home, you should be really proud of the family you have created :)
Krystie - hows everything going with your PGD/IVF journey mate? Are you still between cycles, hope all is well with you guys. I will take some more pics but you will LOVE what we did to the playroom today - as we have all tiles I sent Sean off to the reject shop and we now have a total of 5 packets of foam letters covering the floor - Sean spelled out "Bailey Peter Greatz Plus Mum and Dad" (oh and inadvertantly spelt out burger as well - perhaps he was hungry LOL). Anyway I have changed the room around a million times to use the space properly and its coming together now. The alphabet floor looks awesome and so colourful, I think you'll approve :)
Nic - as I posted earlier, GL for tomorrow, let us know how you go when you have time and feel like it! Aaron's easter pics are gorgeous - love the look of mischief on his face with the "Who me?" expression
Nicky, Jacinta and Bella - a big fat smoochie for you MWAH!!
Off to visit my GF tomorrow for lunch (the one that recently had her 2nd bub - the almost 11 pounder!) I only have a few more RDOs left before full time kicks in so I gotta make the most of it :) Also, we had our meeting with the celebrant who is performing Bailz naming day ceremony (we were hoping our Wedding celebrant would do it but she only does weddings these days. Anyhoo, we are having the god parents light a candle (similar to a baptism) and ending it with a little rose petal ceremony. Basically she gets all the kiddies to sprinkle Bailz with petals in four different colours (white representing innocence, Yellow = friendship, Red = love and Pink = um, cant remember, maybe family?). I've adapted that letter I wrote to Bailey when I returned to work into a reading (shortened it a little and made it suit the occasion better), but I am going to get the celebrant to read it on my behalf, as I will be a blubbering mess if I try to read it. The ceremony will only go for 15 mins tops (Bailz will be bored and over it if its much longer) but I am excited as it's gonna be a great day. As I mentioned when I posted my invites on FB you are all welcome :) Would love to have you all here - someone win lotto and buy a heap of plane tickets hehehehe
Best be off!

Naomi, that sounds just lovely! I am sure that you, Sean & Bailey will have a wonderful day! I wish we could be there (and also for the other babies' special days too) but... you know.
Dissapointingly, I don't know that we'll be able to make it down for our annual meet-up this year. We are going away with the parentals in June and then we are hoping to go up to my sister's in Cooktown for Christmas. So we really need to tighten up money-wise if we are going to afford these trips.
I'd better get back to work but will try to pop in again tonight! Hope you all have a good day. xx
I have had such a quiet day in here today! Has been lovely spending some time on BB.
BG: So sorry to hear of the family issues! You usually get along really well with those fam members, don't you? Disappointing. Awesome re the jacket! I love bargains like that.
Cathy: Sorry about the sickness :( That must've been really hard going having the whole family crook like that. Vommies are my LEAST favourite of illnesses!
Bridg: Glad the boys had a good time away (and that they missed you!). How cute that Logan kept looking for them! The girls didn't really have an issue with DLS ending, but we haven't had any strong routines going in this house anyway. I am too disorganised! They are waking between 6 and 7 most mornings, which I consider to be socially acceptable, LOL!
Nay: No idea re the grobags, and no idea re Phoebe's height! We were booked in for a nurse's visit the other week but my car broke down and so we couldn't get there. I still have to make another appt. She hasn't been measured for 3 months!
PMSL @ Bailey laughing at you farting. He's pretty advanced - into fart jokes already ;) Sounds like a great day you have planned for Sean. Enjoy!
Vic: I haven't been on FB much, but what I've seen of your projects is awesome! How do you feel about going back to work fulltime?
Going to SIL's tupperware party tonight. We are learning how to make our own Baileys!
Super quick post, little man is ready for bed.........DRUM ROLL>>>>>>>>>>>>
Well Aaron's HC has not grown in 6 weeks!!
Neuro is happy for me to monitor his head growth with the clinic once a month, and if there is no big jump to see him in September.
Now we just need to wait on last week’s blood to get the clear on the GA (type 1) although the skin results won't be back for a few months.
Dan and I had a blood test too genetic testing and who knows this may even give us some reason for our infertility?!?!?!?
Also have Aaron's naming day this Sunday so and really happy knowing I can relax a bit on that day!!
Promoise to catch up with you all over the weekend
GREAT NEWS Nic! Very Very happy for you
Hope the naming day is wonderful, so good that you can enjoy it with this worry off your chest - post lots of piccies on FB!!
yay nic :)
ok well im going for my 12 weeks scan 2moro hopefully all is well
Jamie took a step a couple of times today he still doesnt quite have the balance yet
Nicole that is fantastic news! Have a wonderful day on Sunday!!!
Hi everyone! Just popping in quickly... not much to say. Buggered from netball training. haha
Will pop in tomorrow if I can think of anything worth typing about.
xxoo
ETA: All the best for tomorrow J!!!! 12 weeks already!! wow How exciting!
great news Nic! hope oyu have an equally fantastic weekend!
goodluck tomorrow J
Nic - Great news! Hope the naming day goes well.
J - Good luck with the scan tomorrow - it seems so long ago I was going for CJ's 12 week scan.
Amy - I think I feel ok about going back fulltime - it was always going to happen at some point because I can earn a lot more than DH so if we want to ever move out of our 2 bed flat and stay in this area it is me that needs to be working. I was hoping to go back part time in old job because money was good for part time and have good maternity but seeing as that has gone by the by, it makes sense for DH to go part time if he can. We have talked about him being a full time SAHD but he needs to stay in a job for a decent amount of time (his record up to now is to change about once a year, he has never found a job he loves and I think we are realising that he probably never will, so just need something he doesn't hate) because if we want more children I will want to have another year off so he needs to be in a job. So maybe SAHD after number 2 - he is very domesticated and the house will be kept in much better order than it is now because I am rubbish with housework and spend any free time doing craft stuff!!!
Naomi - Thanks for the comments about Optus, DH is speaking to his boss about possibilities for later in the year next week. I don't think working from home is an option but in reality has he is just on the phone on incoming there isn't any continuity from day to day required if you see what I mean so I would have thought is ideal for part time. Also he has heard they may be after part time for later in year to cover busy periods anyway.
Mmm off to bed (I meant to write more but got distracted by the footy show!)
everything is a ok baby is measuring close to dates and has a heartbeat of 158 BPM i'll share pics when i have them
Nic- That was the awesomeust news! Celebrate with ice cream!
Jacinta- Glad to hear the u/s went well. Did you happen to see any 'bits'?
Amy- I normally have a semi-routine especially when the boys are at school. I've been a bit slack over the holidays though. Can you make me a Baileys like Naomi's one?
Vic- Craft stuff is heaps better than housework isn't it? :D
AFU, I think Logans top teeth are moving. He's been cranky, and not eating much solid food, and chewing on anything and everything. It's 3 more sleeps until school starts, and the boys are looking forward to it. We'll see what they are like in another 5-10 years.
nope bridg not yet its a bit early but the baby did have their legs crossed
Bridg - How cute that the boys are still at the age where they look forward to going to school. My DSS's would be mroe than happy if the school burnt to the ground and they didn't have to go, lol!
PS. I'm such a spaz! Of course I already had your address!
J - Congrats on the great scan. I love baby ultrasounds. Although it's early and bub's had it's legs crossed, I'm sure you must have been trying to look ;)
Vic - WHilst you may not be perfect with they housework, your crafty-ness and mothering are top-notch! :) It's really good to read that you have a good/positive attitude about heading back to work. Hopefully that will make things much easier when you start back (although tears are still ok if you need ;) ).
Nic - That's super news about Aaron's HC! Finger's crossed for the blood test and the skin test when you finally get the results. Hopefully after the results come back you'll finally get a chance to breathe out instead of having to hold your breath all the time!
Have a wonderful time on Sunday!
Amy - We'll miss you lots if you can't make it to the catch-up, but I'm sure we'll all completely understand as well. I'll keep my fingers crossed that one of the airlines does one of those $1 ticket sales again ;)
Cathy - Seriously I have no idea how you look after 4 kids without help. Super mummy!!! I still bounce Kyson to sleep for his naps, and I bounce him until he is on the edge of sleep at night and then pop him in his cot slightly awake. Sometimes he nods off straight away, other times I have to stay with him while he carries on for a while. Sometimes a "while" is considerably longer than I would hope for, lol.
I hope Laura had a wonderful birthday!
BG - Would have been great if you could come to Kyson's birthday (I would love it if each and every one of you could come), but I totally understand that you can't make it. Hopefully I'll make it out to your neck of the woods sometime soon! :D
Your easter pics are so cute. I swear that egg was as big as E's head! Sorry to hear that there were some family problems, but I hope you still thoroughly enjoyed yourselves nonetheless.
Bella - How cute are baby steps?! Kyson never wants to crawl anymore, and even when he's playing with tpys he tends to prefer to stay on his feet even if it means he has to bend right over to play. Sorry to hear that sleep is an issue with J at the moment. Kyson's teeth have been coming quickly too so I sympathise with you on that one. Hopefully her 6th tooth will pop out soon and you'll get a little rest before any more decide to come!
Nay - So far I adore the photos of Bailey's playroom! Gosh I wish that we had a spare room that could be Kyson's playroom. I've thought about making his nursery more of a playroom, but I'm worried that he'll associate his room less with sleep if I did that... Also, I guess once the next baby comes along and is sharing the nursery that there'll be no room for it to be a playroom. Looks like we'll have to stick with our lounge room doubling as a playroom, lol.
I saw my FS on Wednesday. I'm still between cycles at the moment, but assuming that the karyotyping tests come back normal (they were meant to be back already, but got held up over easter. Should be back in a week) then I'll start another antagonist cycle when AF arrives. I think I ovulated yesterday or the day before, so it should be less than two weeks away. He was surprised at the number of embies with chromosome problems, but still thinks that it's just bad luck and thinks our tests will come back normal. He wants to try for more eggs, and therefore a greater chance of getting a healthy embie for us this time. I asked how many eggs he was aiming for and he said "about 20, but don't tell anyone that", lol! Guess I already let the cat out of the bag now, hehe. I don't think they are meant to aim for more than 12ish, but I'm happy to take the extra risk to get more this time.
Also, your naming day sounds beautiful!
Oh, not sure how long Kyson is, but he's definitely had a growth spurt recently. He used to be able to walk under my computer desk without hitting his head, and now he is at least a couple of cm taller than the bottom of the desk. Also, WII Fit has told me that he has put on 700g in the last 15 days and he now weighs 10.9kg! We have his 12 month check up on the 7th May so I'll get the "official" stats then ;)
Hmmm, my little treasure has learnt how to bite while feeding!!! He now has 5 teeth (last two came up within two days). A couple of days ago he bit me while feeding and managed to draw blood. It was only a little bit, and I think it was an accident, but I made sure he knew it was not on. Then yesterday morning I was watching him feed and saw him purposely bite down. I yelled at him and put him straight down on the floor. He cried. I felt bad but I know he needs to learn this one quickly! I only let him cry a few seconds then explained to him that he's not allowed to bite and that he hurt mummy (I know he can't understand yet, but I figure it's a good practice to begin). Then I told him he could come back for more milk. He came back, sucked 2-3 times then bit again! Back down on the floor with mummy yelling "Uh uh! Ouch! No biting!". That time I "shut up shop" and after I explained he hurt me yadda yadda I told him he could come back for a cuddle. He crawled over, climbed up my legs and stood for a snuggle. He bit again that evening at my mum's house, and then again today at mother's group. It hurts, but the thing I'm finding hardest is that I'm sort of scared while feeding him now. I watch him feeding and when I see his mouth do something different I tend to flinch and pull him away even though he probably wasn't going to bite. I think I just need to not watch while he feeds, and if he bites then I just deal with him and the pain. The worry of being bitten, and my flinching is making let-down come slower and probably making the feeds harder for the both of us. I can see why some woman who may be thinking about weaning would do so as soon as bub's starts biting. I am determined we are going to get through this though!
Jacinta- Some people have been known to find the sex of the baby out at 12 weeks. Are you going to find out?
Krystie- lol. Your funny. Do the DSS's live with you full time? I could imagine how hard it would be getting them motivated to go to school. Ouch re the biting while feeding. Sorry I don't have any practical advice as I have never been in the position. Good luck with the EPU and I will have everything crossed that this round is 'the' round and you get your little bubba.
AFU, Logans sleeping is absolutely terrible at the moment! At night, I have a feeling it's to do with teeth, but he has also been peeing heaps and heaps. He wet through a MCN night nappy with a booster! :o I'm hoping that when the boys are back at school and we are back into the routine, that this will all settle down.
I may not be lurking for the next few days. I have a HEAP of sewing I need to get done, so I can start selling.
i cant not find out lol i have to know hopefully we have a cooperative baby lol jamie was easy it was just there between his legs wide open lol
hehehe Logan was the same. There was no mistaking he was a boy.
Nic: Great news re Aaron's HC! And boo to you for not coming in to visit me, LOL! I could've used the stimulation - Thursday was a very slow day. I hope today was just wonderful. Had beautiful weather for Aaron's naming day! I was at a baptism today and it was glorious.
Jacinta: Brilliant, I'm so pleased the u/s went well! They should be able to get a good geez between bubs' legs at your 20 week one though, eh? Phoebe wasn't particularly co-operative at hers, but they still got a pretty good idea.
Vic: Sounds like a great plan re work in the future. Do you think you guys will stop after bub #2? It would be fabulous to live with someone who's 'domesticated', LOL! DH has no respect for our place, not even his very expensive camera gear that he leaves lying around the joint. I am by no means a clean freak, but sometimes I just wish he gave half as much of a crap as I do. Ooh, sorry... rant over. Didn't realise that venom was in there until I started spurting it out!
Bridg: LOL @ Baileys. Nah, he is one of a kind :) Perhaps Naomi could produce something similar for you... but you'll have to wait a good 9 months or so.
KL: Ooooh, so sorry about the biting. That sucks. I think that's all you can do - just keep taking him off if he does it and he'll grow out of it soon enough. Fortunately Phoebe has only bitten me a couple of times and that was very tentatively - like she knew it was the wrong thing to do but couldn't control herself and just needed to give it a go, KWIM? And I just took her off and put the boob away. But it wasn't hard enough to draw blood! Yep, you'll make it through. Just another of those delightful phases.
Ah, I know I am constantly saying how I'm struggling with Natty, but it keeps going from bad to worse. Today she actually jumped onto the road at my parents' place (it is a main thoroughfare. Fortunately there were no cars coming past). She is obsessed with jumping off things and I know she just wanted to jump off the curb. The thing that pi$$ed me off though was that when I said her name she just ignored me and stayed on the road. I had to physically go and pick her up and boy, I let rip at her! Poor thing was in tears, but I couldn't believe how naughty she was to ignore me in such a situation.
I think I am needing to go to a parenting in-service at the CC centre, or a course or something. I am needing more tools in my parenting toolkit! It is getting easier to leave DH to put P to bed at night so I might try to find an evening one soon.
I'd best go run a bath for the chicks.
Amy - Don't beat yourself up babe, I've never come across a perfect toddler yet, or a perfect parent. I remember running across our street when I was 'bout three after it had been re-bitumised (or however its spelt), I left footprints in the road - I reckon my Mum was bordering on murdering me :o Doesn't change the fact that she's a great Mum and so are you! It's ok to have spastic parenting moments that you wish you'd handled differently - and you know what, you'll have plenty more before your kids are grown, as will the rest of us.
I've been thinking of buying the Toddler Tactics book - Bailey is already testing us, and I figure as its all new territory I might as well arm myself with as much info as I can :D
Anyhoo, just wanted to tell you that I think you are TOPS!!
Oh and :happybirthday: :birthday2: :happybirthday: :birthday2: :happybirthday: :birthday2: for tomorrow
Nay
x
Oh Amy, I can feel your toddler induced pain!!!! Lachie is fricking SHOCKING lately! He also enjoys jumping and ignoring. He always ignores me, even in dangerous situations. It's doing my head in.
I don't know what to do with him, and I'm hoping that it's a phase he will grow out of.... SOON! Luckily we don't live anywhere near a road (LMAO), but then I find that that's also a bad thing because he doesn't really know much about roads even though everytime we go near one, I bend down dna try to explain to him how dangerous it is and that he must hold Mummy or Daddy's hand if he's near one. Ah.... the joys. Hopefully when #2 gets to that age, we'll know exactly how to handle it.
Hi everyone! Not much happening really, apart from me trying to kill myself playing netball! haha. Had our first game Yesterday and I played pretty welkl I thought for 11 years off! Got nearly all my goals in which was good. We didn't win... we got flogged. We are the bottom team for the last few years though... LOL. I'm happy to just get out there and have fun while getting fit really (and having some me time is always a bonus). The kids went with Mum to watch as hubs was off chopping wood for this winter with my Dad. Let's just say, we won't be taking them again until they reach an age where they can behave.... 25 maybe?? LOL
It's freezing! I can't believe the temp difference in one week! This coming week we are supposed to have nights down around 4-5 degrees! We will have the fire going tomorrow no doubt for the first time this year. Will have to make sure I get all the blankets out of storage too.
Ok enough babblefrom me. Will pop back this week. xx
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR TOMORROW AMY!!! Dirty 30 WOOHOO!!!
Thanks for all the birthday wishes on here and on FB lovely ladies.
Nay, is the Toddler Tactics book by Pinky? I know I've heard of it... Have got the Mighty Toddler (Robin Barker) which was not bad. Should probably look at it more often. LOL @ leaving foot-prints in the road! That's actually pretty funny :p
Nicky, glad it is not just mine who is a little feral atm  I can't imagine having Natty at a netball game, particularly if I were on the court! A man got up in church yesterday and said he had tickets to the easter show for an adult and 2 kids that he couldn't use and wanted to give away. My friend next to me said, 'There you go!' to which I replied, 'I would rather shove hot needles into my eyeballs'.
Wowwee, that is mighty cold! We have had such BEAUTIFUL weather the last couple of days and it gets just cool enough overnight for a doona :) Today was spectacular. Mum took me up to Palm Beach and we had lunch (that was after I met up with the ILs for 2nd breakfast!) and we had a play in the park. Phoebe was soooooo cute - I will have to post some pics on FB as I got a couple of beauties on my phone. She was playing in the sand and dirt and having a ball.
Well, I am off to bed as tomorrow is actually going to be a busy one at work... No more lounging around waiting for the phone to ring and playing on BB :)
Night girls. xx
Hi everyone!!
Oh Amy, the hot needles in the eyeballs... I do think similar things when people suggest certain activities for the kids. LOL. I always just smile and do one of those "got nothing nice to say so I will just chuckle" giggles.
How is everyone?
It's gotten really cold so we've had the fire going the last 12 hours. It's an open fireplace too, so last year Adam made an awesome fireguard that is impenetrable. LOL. Allira's actually been quite good and after hovring for the hour or so last night, hasn't really gone near it again today thankfully.
Me, I've just started using the calorie king website. My exercise has been going really well, and I am so much fitter than I was this time last year, but It's not taking the weight away as I would like, so I decided once and for all to try my first "dietry change". If only I was 18/19/20 again where I didn't have to worry about what I ate... I miss being a skinny mini.
So I'm on day 2 today. Am hoping to lose 5 kgs by my Birthday in July, but we'll see.
Allira seems to be teething again. Will be up to tooth number 5 soon. She cut her top 2 teeth on Easter Sunday. No idea which tooth will pop through next.. there are quite a few ready to erupt at any minute. As long as they are as painless as possible.
Ok enough waffle from me. I have children to wrangle.
xxoo
Oh and Allira is 11 months old today :( She's growing too quickly :(
hi all, i was in thw may 1-15 thread but my girl came 8 days late on may 18 so i prob belong in here (and came in on BG's advice)!!
my DD seems to be quite far behind in everything (height, weight, development) and have 'wagged' 2 MCHN visits cause im freaked out what they will say!!
jade has just started commando crawling but refuses to hold her own weight when held up by her hands...she used to but now bends at the hips wanting to sit down....
she is saying mama and dada but dont think theyre directed at us in particular yet...
and she is 71cm long and 8kg (below 25th% in charts)...
oh and she still; has 5 bottles a day and sleeps like crapola... :(
feeling very sorry for myself atm cause i feel like its all my fault DD is behind cause i had horrendous PND and was hospitalised, and didnt bond with DD til she was 6 months and think thats why shes behind...
oh well looking forward to knowing you ladies :)
hey em
i wouldnt be worried yet and it is never ur fault so dont think like that plz it can only make it worse
and girls are sometimes small i know heaps my neice was still wearing 00 after she was one so she cant have been very big
 just plz dont feel like its ur fault
FWIW i havent been to the MCHN since 12 weeks
Hi T_M!
Don't feel guilty!!! All these babies do things at different ages. My son walked before he crawled, and he was 8.4kgs@ 12 months. Tiny, considering he was a touch under 9lbs at birth. Forgot to add, he as still feeding 5 times a night until 11 months of age, and didn't really ever sleep through the night until after he was 12 months old.
Try not to base your child on what everyone else's are doing. They are all so unique.
Welcome to our group! I hope you enjoy it in here... we're all a pretty chatty bunch, but these girls are the loveliest I have ever come across online.
xxoo
Hey Ladies
T_M: Welcome to the group! :) Your little bub look sso cute! Lots of hair! Feel free to add me to facebook if you wish (Cathy Sies - a lot of us Mummies are on there). I agree with JwithJ they are all different. Don't compare your baby with others. My eldest Yasmin took ages to put on weight. She was about 7.85kg at 1 year old! (I just checked my baby book) In contrast my nearly 11mth old is nearly 13kg probably by now! LOL Yasmin weighed about that at 3yrs of age!! As for Laura...she slept through FINALLY at 3yrs! She used to wake up once, and I'd have to go to her bed and settle her again! Becoming a big sister made her grow up heaps I believe.
Amy: We all have sucky moments as parents sometimes. I know I have! And all toddlers have run off at some point. Sometimes it's scary! Do you recall me telling you when Laura got out of the lift at the carpark at the hospital? Arghhh Don't worry we'll get them back one day when we're old and senile hehe
Tooth no 7 has arrived for Cara...and the sleepless nights continue. :) She is soooo cute at the moment though. She's really communicating with us. Pointing and gesturing. She plays a game in the bath at night with Laura and me. I sit on the floor and watch them and Laura gives me "your favourite drink Mummy, coffee milk" LOL and hands it to me in a little pink plastic tea cup (full of bath water ofcourse lol). And now Cara is copying her and handing me the pink cup too (with a big smile on her face hehe).
Just started to pick her up by the arms last night and spin her around a little..she LOVED it hehe
Laura loves to play with the dolls house with her and they play this game with the pop up wiggles tent. Laura goes in there and says "Hello, come in!" and Cara follows her in hehe. They play this every day.
TM- Hey! Welcome! Your NOT a bad mummy. I know how you feel about your child being behind. Logan is behind in a few things.
AFU, I have been lurking, so keeping an eye on everyone. I might get back in tonight and post if I get some time. VA are coming tomorrow with their orthoptist, so have some tidying up to do.
thanks girls i feel a bit better :)
yes jade was born 7pd15oz so we thought she would be a decent size by now but mustve just been born big cause i ate so much cheesecake haha
my baby buddies is very quiet cause alot of the girls have gone back to work or dont use BB now, ive decided to do EN at tafe starting june, fingers crossed i get in, it will be hard but worth it
any other single mums in here?
cathy ill add u to FB my names Emma Softly for those who dont have me (think i have krystie, jacinta and lee already) just let me knowe youre from BB ....and yeah jade was born with tonnes of hair it was dark brown then it went red now its strawberry blonde and aslmost to her shoulders!
hi Em - and welcome to one of the chattiest baby buddies around! lol. please don't blame yourself for Jades size - i've seen pics and she looks healthy. she is just dainty. if you're worried though (and it seems you are) get her checked and see what they have to say. she is a happy little girl, and i would think if there was anything major wrong, she wouldn't be such a happy poppet!
with the sleep thing - as i mentioned on FB, E was sleeping through before but now there is no hope in hell she'll sleep through. she feeds at least twice between midnight and 6am, some nights it's hourly. i honestly can't find a singular cause - it's just the way she is!
Bridg - good luck with the VA visit - hope you can get some help for Logan. that reminds me, really shoudl look at what they have on their site for DH's probs.
sorry for no other persies - tired day today. been out with mum. had a few stresses the last couple of days as someone i know IRL nearly lost his wife and DS to a uterine rupture. it's been playing on my mind lots. went to see his Mum today to check up on them - bub has been flown to melb, and both parents are now in hospital (her with the issues from the c/s - her heart stopped twice during the surgery) and him with crippling back pain. bub is doing ok, but having probs with his lungs (was 5 or 6 weeks early). it's really gotten to me though as DH and I have been talking about going back and i know i have a tendancy to weird scarring.
work starts next Tuesday - still not sure how i feel. it's like its not real yet. i think Monday will see me an absolute mess! oh well, thems the breaks!
E is going to specialist for her eyes on May 5 - less than a month to go!
Hi All,
Krystie- J was biting heaps a while ago. Some really good advice I was given was to be really aware of positioning. They can't really bite when their tounge is extended around the nipple. I noticed that J would pull back off the nipple when she was at the end of a feed. She would have a pretty full belly and would just want to play. She would even kinda think it was funny cos she got a reaction from me. I learnt to watch her and when the nipple was beginning to come out of her mouth I would remove it. If she was really determined I would let her back on but I kept a close eye. I really relate to feeling that sense of fear. When J bit me I was left with a small inflammation that really hurt near the nipple crease and bf alone hurt let alone if she bit. What you are doing taking it away is right. He will learn. My grandmother who raised 7 babies advised me to give a little flick to the cheek immediately if a baby bit. I was really skeptical about that but did do it one night in desperation and almost reflex cos she really hurt me. I say that very hesitantly cos I don't condone violence to children, but when I mentioned it to Barb the LC on here she said "grandma probably had a very good point". Anyway keep persisting, he is a very smart lil boy and you too will work it out.
Emma- You know honey I think that your baby is doing just fine. There is such a difference between all the babies on here. I feel from your post that you are really punishing yourself because maybe you feel there is something that you should be or should have done that you didn't because of your PND. I would like to say catagorically that that is a negative thought that is punishing your psychy. You are not to blame! PND is a horrible disease and you are no more to blame for having it than you would be if you had broken your leg and couldn't play with Jade for a time.Too be honest I don't think that there sounds like there is anything wrong with Jade unless you really think that there is. In which case go get it checked. But don't let anyone get you too caught up with growth charts and that crap. They are a guide. The best assessments are made on whether they are happy and have energy. I may sound like I am a bit passionate about this and for you Emma. I guess I am because I think I may have Post traumatic Stress from my C/section. I have struggled with all my thoughts revolving around what happened to me and how I can make it stop hurting. On my bad days I worry that I don't give Jemima enough focused attention. On my good days I am thankful that I am healing and I know it isn't what I chose for myself. I believe that every struggle gives us things to pass on to our kids we wouldn't have had without it. So hug your new found knowledge about yourself and PND to your self and know you will be a better more compassionate person either now or in the future and that will be your gift to Jade. PS.. Einstein didn't talk till aged 4....... if you were to think about what the MCHN would have said to his mother it probably would make you giggle
AFM- Mima is sleeping all over the shop and is suddenly waking up during o/n feeds and wanting to stay awake.... ggrrr!!! She is also walking everywhere. I have to watch so carefully in public. Couple of days ago we went to a beachside cafe and she was walking up to ppl and talking to them. Or mostly their children. She is a lil charmer. I was watching when someone said to me that she had something in her mouth. She will spit things out when she is asked. Anyway she had a piece of glass in her mouth. Oh my heart just about stopped!! She is just so quick to pick things up now. She now has 7 teeth and another on the way. the last 5 have come in the last 2 months so it has been really hard.
I have also started Zumba. It is that latin american/hip hop sorta excersise classes. I LOVED it!! It was the first class in my town and there were 80 odd chicks there. It felt like a night club with dim lights and disco lights going. Lots of fun and something I could actually find fun and keep going to I think. I took some really gross Before photos in the raw last night PMSL! and am hoping that I can come up with some nicer ones showing some weight loss in a few months.
Alright my couch is calling
Love you all
Bella
TM - Welcome and like the other girls said, it sounds like you are a great Mum and our babies come in all shapes and sizes, and they all do things in their own time. My DS Bailey has always been the littlest baby, here in our forum and in my mothers group locally too. It has caused me worry, but he is healthy, happy and growing at a steady rate so I've learnt (after much worry) that this is him, and to enjoy having a lighter baby to carry around, and one that fits in his little clothes for longer. Bailey was 8.5 kg at his last weigh (which was at 10.5 months) and he might possibly crack the 9kg by his first birthday next week. He has only just started to bear his weight on his legs also, so don't be too concerned mate. I think as mothers we are so damn hard on ourselves sometimes and it sounds like you are doing a great job, under some pretty tough circumstances babe so I applaud you! Stick around in our thread, my fellow belly buddies are the most awesome, supportive and wonderful group of Mum's and they've supported me through meltdowns, tough times and always lend an ear and advice when needed. Also, love your tag - balancing Motherhood and metal - LOVE it! My DH is a Metalhead (and in one of the local metal bands here in Adelaide) so its nice to have another rocking Mumma about the place! Look me up on FB - Naomi Graetz :D
Gals - I'll be back tomorrow for more persies, but just wanted to say BG big hugs and smoochies as you go through the return-to-work journey. If I lived closer I'd come and give you a big squishy hug and then steal some of your delicious veggies from your garden LMAO
I'm off to bed, work was out of control busy today, I interviewed 3 people and two were totally useless, it did my head in. I have this A4 list of things to do/get organised before Baileys party next weekend so will be pretty busy this week and next, so might as well get some sleep while I can :)
Nay
x
BG- Thanks, and I will let everyone know how we go. I can ask Logans case manager tomorrow if she can contact you and even have a chat. She is a lovely lady. Less than a month til you see James?! God that has gone quick!
Emma- Im gonna come steal your DD, coz she is just absolutely gorgeous! After I steal her, Im gonna go to everyone else's house and steal their bubbas. I was a single mum before I met DH. I left the twins father when they were 6 months old, and met DH when they were just over 2.
Logan has been having cows milk on his weetbix in the mornings, and out of a cup. For some reason he wouldn't drink the formula, so tried to wean him onto cows milk. Would only drink straight cows milk. Didn't sleep well for a week or so, so swapped him back last night, and he is sleeping through again.
thanks Bridg! i didn't get to look at the VA website last night - piked and went to bed just as Miss E woke and had a MAMMOTH meltdown - not fun at all! took nearly an hour to resettle her - she woke for a feed a couple of hours later, and then again at 5.14 (yes, i looked at teh clock), and refused to resettle again until somewhere between 7 and 7.30. i refuse to start my day at 5am if she's had a bad day, so i persisted and we just laid in bed - her talking to me a while, rolling over and talking to daddy, and us trying to doze in between. i crashed big time when she did though! she woke up at 9 and has been in a painful mood - screamed on waking, and is not being a defiant ratbag! can't wait til nap time so i can actually have five minutes to get myself some breakfast! she has refused everything but breast milk this morning so i think her gums may be giving her grief -but i can't feel or see any sore spots.
Emma - Cathy is also a single mum, and as Bridg said, she's been there before. don't let that define you or make you feel any different to anyone else. you're a MUM - that's what we all are. the support you will get in this thread has no limits based on marital/relationship status. if you need support, you'll get it!
Nay - thanks for the offer of hugs. i really do think i'm in denial about what is going to happen next week. for the most part, i KNOW E will be ok. she loves her daddy, she loves her grandparents. i don't think she'll lose it unless she gets over tired and mummy isn't there. i cried with her last night when i finally got her calmed enough to feed. DH asked why - i said to him " you were here, you were holding her, and it wasn't enough. she needed me - what if that happens and i'm not here - i don't want her to feel abandoned". but i know part of it was because i was in the ensuite and she could hear me and lost it. i am sure if i'm not here, she will be fine taking comfort from DH/Granma.
Bella - that is scary re the glass! E is quick like that too (though she still needs hands to walk anywhere - so at least i know what she's up to!). the other night, my nephew stayed over. he was playing with blocks on the floor with E, and said to me that she had something in her mouth. i got it out, and before i could even get it right out of her mouth, he said to me it looked like blutak. it WAS blutak - and there is nowhere in our living areas she could get it! i asked him where he'd gotten it and he said he wasn't responsible for it - i worked out later where it came from (the back of our toilet door - E has never been in there!) so i KNOW he was responsible. so now i face the notion that i can't trust him not to lie to me (he's 8), i can't trust him to be safe around E - i was only metres from them, watching him build with the blocks, so i have NFI what happened. thankfully it wasn't a nasty ending - but it could have been and that freaks me out!
argh - she's into something again - better go sort her out!
Hopefully I'll be back for persies a bit later, but wanted to say 'hi' to Emma just before Kyson wakes up.
I love looking at Jades photos on facebook and think she is an absolute doll! My best friend's daughter has similar hair to Jade (slightly shorter, but she's younger too) and has fun putting little clips in it, lol. I don't think you should worry about her weight and other stats. From what I see on fb, she appears to be a very healthy and happy little girl. There are two girls in my mother's group that both have tiny little petite girls as well. One of them is eensy-weensy and starting to stand up and I wonder how her tiny little ankles manage to hold her weight ;) My Kyson seems to be rather quick at things like crawling and walking (and now running! *sigh*), but he's still having between 6-10 breastfeeds a day, wakes 3 hourly overnight for feeds, and hasn't said any words yet. Like jade, he makes "mama" and "dada" sounds, but it's using them as proper words yet. He seems to understand the words though, because if I say "Where's dada?" he'll look towards, or walk to his dad... I'm sure he'll talk in his own time.
As for the PND, there is no way you can blame yourself for that, or for not feeling able to bond with your daughter to begin with. It is a horrible disease and something that you never asked for. My best friend had it with her first child and when she was pregnant with her second she said that she would "chop off her own right foot" if it could guarantee that she wouldn't get it again after the birth. Now that you have bonded with Jade, I'm sure that your relationship with her will get stronger and stronger. It sounds to me like you are doing a wonderful job of being a mummy.
Oh, and I've come to take anything the MCHN's tell me with a grain of salt. I got in trouble from one when I told her we were doing baby-led solids. Kyson was 8 months at the time and I had given him pasta and she told me off because the "chart" said I can't give pasta to him until 9 months... As if 1 month makes some magical difference!!! She also rolls her eyes at me when she asks about his sleeping arrangement and hears that he still co-sleeps for half the night. You don't even want to know her suggestions when she found out he was still waking 3 hourly for feeds. Last visit she asked how his sleeping was going and I just said "he's doing fine" and left it at that. If it doesn't worry me, then why should it worry her?! Ok, I should stop ranting and go get the shopping out of the car before Kyson wakes up. Welcome to our lovely thread! :)
Hello Emma - my DD is a big girl, but in my Mothers group there are two girls who are both very petite about 3 percentile and they are doing great - someone has to be petite to make the average what it is. My DD isn't moving at all yet, she will be the last in MG and is the last in this Baby Buddies group too I think - it is hard when you see all the others moving but is just her personality and probably her size too.
Krystie - Someone told me that wakeful babies reach there milestones sooner, and sounds like Kyson fits that mould! Unlike CJ who is a great sleeper but not a mover, I think she is going to be a talker not a walker actually as she seems to be really having conversations with me (in a Mr Bean or Donald Duck voice) with the odd word thrown in e.g. apple. DH was an early talker and could mimic any word by about 13 months apparently - he still is a very good mimic.
BG - glad you saved the bluetak, I have had to fish a few things out of CJ's mouth that have all been entirely my fault - e.g. rubber discs off bottom of mousemat, plastic tags from shopping etc. I really need to learn to be less of a slob - but I really think you are either genetically neat and tidy or you aren't - DH is and I am not and seems the harder I try the worse I get.
After two nights with night terrors last night was terror free but with a wake up at 3:00am - I am finding it hard to go back to sleep if get woken at the moment which is very unusual for me - maybe I will have to stop drinking coffee I only have one a day but perhaps it is having effect even though never has done before.
Anyway have to go hang out washing while CJ is asleep. Washing is certainly less fun when weather not so good. DH is out at soccer tonight so will be back in later - I keep losing posts which is most annoying, and also have a been a bit MIA because I have gone into creative crafty recycling overdrive!
Ok, I promise I will come in later and do persies.
I was thinking last night, that since we won't all get to make it to everyone's bubbas birthdays, that we could do a KK but birthday style???
I was also thinking that at our meet up in October, that I could make and bring some cupcakes and candles and we could have a mini birthday party??
sounds good Bridg!
Morning mummas and bubbas. Typing 1 handed as Logan is trying to help.
BG- Miss E isn't having a wonder week is she? Logan has been absolutely feral these last few days.
AFU, Have been busy sewing. Logan has been feral so not much else has been done. The other night he did sleep 12 hrs though. He woke once in the middle of the night, so Leigh put him in bed with us, and he slept til he woke at 7.40am. Didn't happen last night though. I tried to dress him when I went to bed, and he woke, so then wanted a bottle and ended up in with me for the night. Leigh had already fallen asleep in the chair.
Hi girls! Not much happening...
Taking the kids in to visit my Dad today. He was admitted to hospital with pancreatitis last night. Apparently morphine helped a little, but they dosed him up most of the night. He was strapped to a BP machine which went off every 15 mintues though... so didn't sleep well.
My parents have never been in hospital before and my poor Dad will be bored out of his scone. My Mum has to specially go out and buy him a pair of PJ's haha. No idea how long he will be in for.
I'm buggered from Netty training last night... the drive to and from was worse though (200km round trip).
Anyway, get these kids off to bed for their day sleep now and once they wake up we'll do another 200kms+. LOL.
Lucky I have cruise control.
xx
Good Morning girls!
I am so loving this weather!! Such a relief after all the hot sticky days. If it could stay like this all year round, maybe rain once a week, I'd be happy. :)
Nicky: Sorry to hear about your Dad. Hope he recovers soon!
Bridg: What's a KK? I really need to get with it with the new terms hehe I don't have a mobile phone anymore either...so I would be all about of touch with sms speak too hehe
Lucky you for having Logan sleep through 12 hrs! Now if you can just teach Cara hehe
Vic: I am a slob. My photos may look like the house is tidy, but I just tidy it up so you can't see the crap in the background lol. I think I take after my Dad, he's relaxed type, and a bit of a slob. My Mum is very organised and tidy. I tidy my house up and it looks acceptable enough even though I'm exhausted cleaning it all day, and then it gets massively messed up for the next day or so, and I'm too stuffed/lazy to bother with it. And then I do it ALL OVER AGAIN..drives me nuts. About twice a week I am picking up a lot of crap! And I'm lazy the rest of the time! Laura is the main culprit with toys all over the floor/house..but even 10 and 13 year olds leaves shoes, socks, papers and crap everywhere! Not to mention THEIR ROOMS! (Esp Yassie) The good thing is, once they get older you can get them to do some chores hehe. Every weekend, either Yassie or Ronan mop and vacum the lounge/hall...LOVE IT hehe They wash dishes for me once a week too (I did have them doing it every night once...but they moaned so much....I do it most of the time now). A nice VERY un greenfriendly tip, if you want a break now and then, get paper plates! How lazy am I! Ok..now the greenies are gonna be after me. But I tell you, as a single Mum with NO time off, no babysitters EVER, no family nearby...I need abreak now and then.
I hope Cerys recovers from the night terrors soon. Maybe too active an imagination? Must be a smart kid I reckon! I don't think coffee (esp 1 or 2 a day..which is all I have) would make any difference. Just a phase she is going through I guess. My kids were all around 18mths or so before I remember that stage.
Cara is very chatty like it sounds Cerys is. All my kids have been big talkers. I am sure books help and talking to them a lot. Cara just LOVES books. WIll go into Laura's room and raid the book box lol She turns the pages now.
Bel: Scary re Jemima's glass in the mouth! I've had 4 babies...and they have all at some point got stuff stuck in their mouths or been in a scary situation. The good thing with having two older ones is they will notice too. Laura had stuff in her mouth probably up to 10 or more times and always freaked me out, but kids were watching and told me too if she had stuff in her mouth. Haven't seen anything major in Cara's mouth yet..a toy coin (which I thought I had put away). I have given her the big whack between the shoulders after almost choking on food once too.
As for the post traumatic stress after your caesar. I can totally relate to that. I had a bad caesar with my first baby and was disappointed I couldn't give birth naturally (though happy to have a healthy breech baby delivered safely). It changed me wanting to have any more children for some time (around 6mths) after Yasmin was born. I felt down again when told I had to have a caesar with Laura. But she was breech like her sister, so I accepted it. I freaked that they would get the anaesthetic wrong again though!! My partner gave them a good talking to before the operation! I had the perfect caesar. Laura came into the world with Robbie Williams playing in the theatre (i got to pick which cd I wanted lol). And then with Cara, I was given no choice at all by my local hospital (she wasn't even full on head down yet). I am sooo glad I went ahead and had my two vbacs. They were such wonderful experiences. Ronan especially, like bad period pain was how I would describe my labour with him. Walking around straight after birth..AWESOME feeling! I would encourage you to seek out a vbac next birth! I am sure you would! It helps heal you, I really believe that, even if the vbac fails, at least you know you tried. I will remind Cara when she is older that SHE got to pick her birth date, not the dr. How many caesar babies do you know are born on a sunday? NONE! I will say to Cara, "You were supposed to be born on the 25th, but you chose to be born on the 31st, a day after your due date instead hehe". And as for being 'fit' in birth....hogwash. I didn't exercise in any of my pregnancies....I delivered just fine! And I was a bit heavier with Ronan, my first vbac, than I am now. I looked quite chubby pregnant with him. Great birth though, STANDING UP!! (leaning over bed). He came out fast though. Cara's birth was better, slower and controlled on the bed leaning over beanbag, but the labour was FULL On posterier pain. OMG....no drugs either. So caesar Mums be happy not to go through that. I am a wimp when it comes to recovery pain after c-section. Would still prefer a few hours of pain and then baby. Then baby born, THEN pain. Everyone is different though. And you all deserve a medal in the end, because ALL of us go through the pain one way or another, and end result is always the main thing.
Krystie: Oh I am sure the health nurses would be annoyed with me too..I co sleep, feed whenever they want boob, feed them to sleep. I am sure babies are more wakeful when going through milestones too. And teeth brings their immunity down I think. Though I know they say it doesn't cause rashes etc..
Emma: I honestly think I had a bit of PND when I got pregnant with Cara. I was just not happy for awhile there. I was in a relationship where I wasn't happy though, so that didn't help. I had no joy for being pregnant for the first 3 or 4 mths like I usually did. I really thought I wasn't pregnant. I dreaded the thought of another caesarean too. I had 2 and was being forced by the hospital to have another. In the end, I empowered myself and changed hospitals. Being a single Mum is tough. Hell, just being a Mum is tough. And in fact, if your hubby is not much help, it's like having an EXTRA kid. In some ways I am so busy, and so exhausted. But I think to myself, at least I have an uncomplicated life without another child to look after LOL If you ever wanna chat, I'm here for you! :)
BG: Good luck with work next week!! I hope E handles it well. *Big Hugs* to you!! We are stronger than we think at times.
Naomi: How's Sean with Bailey now? I bet they have a real little routine going. Nice to see you still post lots of pics too! :)
JwithJ: Hope pregnancy is going well. I look forward to hearing all about it on facebook LOL@Jamie with foot in his mouth photo....I took one of Cara like that awhile ago.
Getting my groceries (Coles) delivered this arvo..woohoo!! Another sanity saver now and then. Who loves dragging 2 kids around a shopping centre? It's $5-7 delivery fee..why wouldn't you? hehe Feels like such a treat..I should do it all the time. But I seem to forget things at times (should make a list I guess). And I miss impulse buying..like magazines hehe
Does anyone elses baby constantly take their bibs off? Gawd it's annoying. She will even try to take her top off sometimes (I think she must think its a bib). Doing washing ALLLLLL the time as she gets soo messy. Tried all types of bibs, pullover, velcro..she gets them all off!! And talking of bibs...off I go....lunchtime! :)
