Peanutter - I just saw your other post, you poor thing! It sucks that you have to go through all this crap with your 'bits'!!! Here's hoping it all heals quickly and as painfree as possible for you. What does this mean for having another bub? Will you be able to have a vb or will it be a c-section?
We had the birthday lunch yesterday and as a result I had a very excited boy up at 5:45am this morning wanting to play with his new toys!!!!! Now to get through birthday day on Wed, then the kindy party on Sunday! Oh, and I promised I'd make him a pirate ship cake......bugger!!!!!!!

I have wrapped her differently tonight & loosened the sleep positioner slightly so she can wriggle a little. We'll see how she goes. I cannot believe she is 5mths already.
Hey, another question, how far out do day care places usually let you know if you get a place? IE, I want a place from January and I'm sure most of them said they allocate places in September, but to date I haven't heard from anyone. Missing a place would be a good way not to be able to go back to work.............but, I really should.
sharon Darcie is the same....day time sleeps are overrated for her.....she only sleeps if I push her in the pram, and as soon as I stop WHAMMO...she's awake for another hour or 2! Lucky I'm awake during the day and can cope coz she sleeps well when it matters!! It's definitely tiring though! Happy Birthday to James for today! I hope it's a special day!
Peta I would just call the ones that you've put your name down for. I think you have to keep ON them to secure your place...not that I know from exprience. Let us know how you go.
AFM - I'm starting the pack up and getting ready for the move....AGAIN! At least this time removalists are onto it, but I want to do a big chuck out and group everything together into some semblance of order so that when they pack, I can unpack with some order at the other end! I have Mum here at the moment so I'll send some of my SPECIAL things with her home, then hopefully the rest will fall into place.
Max totally cleaned up for his birthday...he got SOOO much it was totally ridiculous! I have no idea what I will get him for Xmas now! Probably just clothes. Got even more toys to move to the UK now! Sheesh!

Peta - not sure about childcare, I had ds1 in daycare when he was little but only lasted a couple of months coz my mum and mil wanted to look after him. Yules suggestion sounds like a good one, keep at them to secure the days you want.

re sleeping during the day, Joshua is really variable - some days he'll have a 2-3 hour nap, other days he'll go one sleep cycle (45 mins or so) and that's it! If we're lucky!! No obvious rhyme or reason it it ...
hey - has anyone else's MHCN been at them to start bubs on solids? Joshua is only 4.5 months, and they've raised it with us twice to get cracking onto it ...
I thought it was pretty clear cut that babies don't *need* anything other than boob juice until 6 motnhs, and then from 6-12 months, food is more for play/getting used to/experimenting, as opposed to being necessary for nutrition ... ?
Peanutter I think you're right. I only started Max on solids at 6 months, and he was really interested by then....but breastmilk (or forumula) is still the main source of nutrition. I've noticed that people are feeding their babies younger again so maybe there is a new recommendation out there. CHN's know stuff, but they certainly don't know your child as well as you do, so I just make sure I do what I feel is right for me and my baby.
Shaz Mum saved me from making the mower cake by telling Maxy that we will make it back home! YAY!
Peta: I put Deacon's name down on the waiting list at the childcare centre I wanted him to go to back in January this year. They told me then that they would ring the month before he was due to start to confirm he still needed a spot. When I went in to change his start date from November to January they told me that he got the last full time spot for next year. I would definately follow it up if this is the place you want Aly to go to, just in case.
Deacon does the same thing with moving around in his cot. Most mornings I find him facing the opposite way to how I put him down and up the other end of the cot!!!! I have him in a Grobag at night so his little legs don't go through the gaps, and I've just put a cot bumper around the other night that we were given as a gift coz he woke himself up by knocking his head the other day. I'll have to go into Big W and find one of those mesh thingies today.
Peanutter: Our CHN raised solids at the 3 month check up and I am booked in for a 'solids group' run by one of the CHN's next Friday. They said to me to try to hold off until 6 months, and don't like babies younger than 5 months going to the solids group. That being said there are only 2 out of 8 of us in my mummies group that haven't started our bubs on solids yet. With weight gain, I second what Yules said. How are you going being back at work?? Hope everything is settling down for you *down there*.
Yules: Happy belated birthday for Max. Wow, a lawnmower cake. I wouldn't know where to start with trying to make one of those!!!! Good luck Good luck with your moving. Yay for removalists. I hate moving and think if we ever moved again we would use some too.
Sharon: Happy belated birthday for James. A pirate ship cake. That sounds yummy. I said to DH I want to get one of the kids birthday cakes cook books for when DS has birthdays. Deacon's sleeps change each day too. One day he will have 2 1-2 hour sleeps with a 30min cat nap in the arvo, the next day he will only have 3-4 30 min cat naps through the day. It mostly depends on what we are doing (ie at home or in town) or if I have a heap of house work to catch up on and have him in his rocker for most of the day instead of spending time with him while he's awake.
No AF here yet. We have talked about trying again after Christmas. Because of the trouble we had falling with Deacon, we don't want to leave it too long in case we have the same trouble again next time. At least next time we have some bubsicles waiting for us if we need them so we won't have to go through the full IVF process again.
Crumpet: So happy that wormette is doing well I love the colour you've painted her room. Won't be too much longer now and you will be holding her in your arms
AFM: Not much out of the ordinary happening. Deacon has started babbling. He is getting his d's and l's okay. He half sticks his tongue out when he does it. Very cute!!!! Sometimes it sounds like he says dada, but I think that's more me wanting it to sound like a real word rather than just his babble
BBL, Deacon's woken up. He's just babbling to himself at the moment, but that could change very shortly.
Thanks for your thoughts on daycare girls. I best get on the phone!! after I posted last I got a call from one centre & they are sending me the enrolment forms, but apparently its first in best dressed for those. I thought that's what the list was for I was already on?! Not to worry.
Not much happening here. I did it again yesterday - I put shorts on with a waist too tight & poor little Alyssa was a grumpy all day till I realised what I'd done. Think I would have learnt last time!!
Solids - I've had Aly on them since she was 4 months. She loves it. I don't make it the main focus for her, just giving her 60 grams each at morning tea & dinner. Plus she still has about 700ml of formula each day, so from what I can tell she's pretty much on track.

just thought id give u the run down after my OB appt on tuesday...
ok ladies grab a cuppa coz this bit could be long.....
so OB appt last night....
looooooots of stuff happened OMG.....
so to start with.. iron levels are virtually non existent so im on a double does of iron, im sure my OB never wants me to ***** again!
my vitamin D are the same so im on a double dose of that too.....
i dont have gest diabetes so that was very exciting!! my group B swab was a negative so that was good too..... and my BP oh boy my BP its low, really low 90/40...which became quite evident at ante natal classes, but ill add that story at the bottom....
so now my cervix.....
so as we all know ive been over doing things, and OB wasnt a happy man, i got the look over the glasses!!! oooppsie!!
so we have been warned that it is possible she could come at any time, BUT he thinks we should get to ...32-34 weeks and thats the aim atm...
we are aiming for 30w at this point and then after that 32 and then 34 and then after 34 he said he doesnt care what happens!! LOL....
so we are preparing ourselfs for a earlier arrival than we though and to be honest the likelyhood of hitting 37 is well not likely, but miracles happen.
so he said bed rest at home for 4 weeks, and unless my cervix hits 1.7cm he wont put me into hospital, so i have 8mm to play with.
he is happy its closed above the stitch so thats a good thing.
if my braxton hiocks increase im back on drugs to stop that coz he isnt happy there is action going on there coz that wont help keep my cervix quiet. so i just have to sit back relax and hope to god we get past 30-32 weeks....
i am totally expecting her to be here by 34 weeks i just have a feeling i wont get any further than 34 35 max....
so then we went and had dinner and then back to the hospital for ante natal classes, which proved to be interesting!!
the middie running it promised us a placenta to look at, so we all go and stand in the hall way at the delivery suits and she brings it out....
mean while im feeling hot and dizzy from standing still...
placenta looks well feral and that didnt bother me she was moving it round showing this that and everything else and i nearly ended up on the floor!!!
i had to go and sit back down in the room.... so everyone comes in and i feel like a **** coz they all prob assumed it was from the placenta but it was my BP playing up!! the middie ended up asking me if i was ok at one point coz i lost all colour in my face and could barely keep my eyes open, my hands we sooooooo sweaty and i kept gagging!!!
so needless to say we left at half time and came home and got into bed!!!
so thats about it really for now....
ill keep popping in and out to keep up with how everyone is going!!!
Wow Crumpet, plenty to watch for you. Not long till that 34 week mark though. Make sure you stay in bed & relax over the next month. I am sure your little Princess will arrive safe & well.
I can't believe this weather! Its so cold it seems like winter. The sun is gorgeous but just not hot like it should be for October. I have ordered a Cozy Touch baby sleeping bag for Alyssa to see if that helps keep her all in sleeping. I can't believe the price of some of them! I have a feeling she will hate being restricted & wake up a cranky pants with it, but we'll see. She is sleeping so much more during the days now. We try to keep her active while she's awake, either playing or out in the garden or on her little push along bike. Maybe we're keep her too busy?!
Anyway, best go, she is stirring out there from yet another nap. Hope you all had a great weekend. xo

Peta Get me out of this asian bubble....what is the weather like over there ATM. I know there has been loads of rain, but didn't realise it was COLD on top of that. It has been SOOOOOOO hot here. Just awful hot. Gross! Aly must be having a growth spurt with all the sleeping. I've not heard of that sleeping bag before, I'll have to look them up. I just found on here called Eden & Anais (or something) and it's a muslin sleeping bag. The thinnest I've ever found by far. I've got to go back and get a smaller one. The one I got was way too big for Darcie....although I'll be in cold weather again before I know it!
Mum went back to Perth today...max was devastated! His party went well and we are now on the countdown to leaving Singapore. First a holiday to Thailand, then we are off home! So excited!
Well better go. Max got some Toy Story Walkie talkies for his birthday which require immediate battery attention! I've decided that for every single kids future birthday I go to, I'm going to provide batteries in different sizes....there's nothing like letting a kid down with a new toy with no power!

Gosh it has been so long since I've read let alone posted...to cut a very long story short....moved back to Perth DD1 broke her arm in 1st week then picked up Scarlet fever from the hospital...back to hospital and then picked up hand foot and mouth...which DD2 then caught too...both very very sick little girls...I averaged about 2 hours sleep a night for about 3 weeks....then we got an offer on our house that we'd just moved back to so we packed up and moved straight back to the house we were in before...and let me say...moving house twice in 4 weeks is INSANE!!!! So all that has pushed me over the edge and I've now been diagnosed with PND...no wonder!@>! Have just started on the meds and hoping to feel alot better soon. Hope to get in here more often now...I've missed BB so much! Will do my best to catch up on everyone's news. Exxx
OMG you are all such a chatty bunch!! I can never find enough time to get on long enough to read everything and post! By the time I put Zen to bed Im ready for bed too.

Solids- I havent had any nurses mention anything just people in general shocked that we havent started him on solids! I get pretty defensive with them cos they seem to think Im wrong for waiting till 6 months. When I did bring it up with the nurse she said to avoid solids before 6months. All bubs are different but we will definately be waiting till he hits 6months.
I tried to give him a bottle for the first time the other day, just with boiled water in it, then another with EBM, but he wouldnt have a bar of it! Im not complaining I kinda felt a bit chuffed that he thought BF was better than the bottle hehe.
AF- Urrgghhhhh........ after I had Jeremy 11yrs ago it took 8months for it to return! This time it took 4months, blerghh! But I guess cos Im fully BF it wont come back regular. In some ways that's a pain cos we cant try for another bub until I stop BF and can track my cycle perfectly. Annoying! We dont want to try again til next year anyway but I will have to stop the feeding.
I am turning a blind eye to nappy sales to try and curb my addiction. I just dont have the room for more in the house haha. I am soo excited though this week I have a new dummy coming out for Zalren made of all natural products which is one whole pice, no cracks so it is more hygienic. Plus they make it in the cherry shape!!! All he takes is the tommee tippee cherry dummies... AKA the ugly dummies! Why dont they make cute ones in a cherry shape?!
Got Zarlen booked in for swimming classes in Novemebr, so excited cos he loves water! We always take him in the spa.
He is still so little too! He is perfectly healthy & on track with all the milestones etc but just little. He weighs about 6.7kg now but he is quite tall. Now he sits on my hip which is so much easier. Is very much a chatter box... loves his jolly jumper. No teeth yet and no signs of it either.

Miskilla Hey I was worried about you after one of your FB statuses! So glad you could pop in and say hi! I"m with you RE: the solids. I'm beginning to wonder whether I'm missing some new recommendation or somthing as loads of people are now feeding solids before six months, which is contrary to what I was told to do with Max. Not that there is anything wrong with it of course...but like you, Darcie is fully BF and won't have a bar of anything else just yet. (not that I've tried food!). Swimming lessons YAY! I loved it when I started with Max at 5 months. Not yet started anything with Darcie. If I'm home in Perth for long enough then I might just start them before I head off to the colder weather.
Max had a random spew night last night. I have a cold and I'm buggered today! Poor little thing. I have no idea what triggered it. Darcie is sleeping on the spare bed and it's rather uncomfortable....I sleep on it with her coz she rolls around so much I'm scared she will roll off, so I'm pretty sore from that too. Oh woe is me!
Shaz The pics of the Pirate cake and James' Pirate party are awesome. What a fun day! Was the cake as tasty as it was artistic!!!
All the stuff for moving out of Singapore is coming together slowly. DH's work wants him to move to Jersey as a dependant on my British Passport which I find rather funny! He always bags the poms! I'm also in the process of trying to get British Passports for both the kids. I've got people coming in this week to give me quotes on moving this week, and trying to catch up with as many friends as I can before I leave. We had a little birthday party for Max on the weekend so I caught up with friends there, but it's just weird that this little Singapore chapter is ending. Looks like we will have to be staying in Perth a little bit longer than anticipated as we have to wait for British visa for DH and so our passports will be with the 'authorities' so won't be able to go anywhere. I'm secretly happy about that. This week we are going to Phuket for a week of relaxation (I hope!) then I'll be out of here!!!!
