Sleepy - We're using chux for wipes (We're trying to keep things natural - worried about skin problems as both DH and I have issues) and DH insists on using hot water so we have a thermos in the bathroom and wet each cloth with warm water so Bos isn't shocked by the cold.
BW - Yep, that pic is soooo cute! I am still in the process of updating my sig - I took off my ticker and added DS in yesterday but it doesn't seem to have worked. Will try again when I have the time (and energy!)
Phoenix - I am officially very jealous that you are able to get through the night with just one feed. Bos fed at 9:30, 12:00, 2:30, 5:00 and 9:00am. And he doesn't like to go straight back to sleep either. DH and I stayed up for 2 1/2 hours total just trying to settle him after feeds.
AFM - Bosley was really really unsettled yesterday afternoon and DH got all stressy and anxious, meaning I had 2 males to try and calm. I eventually ordered DH out of the house to do some gardening, so we have a nice weed-free patch now . I am wondering if it was something I ate...
Last nappy change Boz's poo was green - any idea what's caused it?
Boz's belly button bit came off tonight after his bath; can I count that as a milestone? I was excited anyway, lol!
Hi to everyone else, hope you and your bubbas are doing well.
Been a busy day out & about today. Went and weighed little miss and she has put on 300gms since last Wednesday, so mummy seems to be a good cow , she's just cracked the 3.5kg after being 270gms under her birth weight (3.16kgs) when she was discharged.
She was a bit of a terror last night and wouldn't settle after her bath & 10.30 feed, DH was a sweetie and stayed up until she settled (12.30) so I could get to bed and have some sleep before her 2.00-2.30 feed. Think my love of licorice bullets might be to blame....oh well packet is finished now and will wait a while before I try them again, so can add them to cabbage as a wind culprit.
Oh I also got myself a tortellini breastfeeding pillow today......OMG now I realise how uncomfortable I really was feeding amongst a mass of pillows.
Jleigh - ohhh Bos is a cutie, great pic in your ticker. I'm trying not to jinx myself with her sleep pattern so far, figure it's matter of time before she gives her mummy a few nights of torture, most likely when DH goes back to work and I'm home all by myself for two weeks at a time.
BW - that pic is adorable! hmmm wipes warmer wonder how I can con DH into one of those, I feel so cruel with cold wipes on her bum and she kicks up a stink everytime. I planned on using cloth wipes but the amount of poo's a day disposibles wipes are just easier at moment.
Sleepy - Hello, great to see you on here, it is great to have our group of girls & bubbies all together - just waiting on the last few to make the way into the world and join us
I need help please - I think the only one who may be able to help could be Traylee - but perhaps the other mummies may know. How do I know how much to feed bubba??? I am currently feeding Hunter 100mls every 4-5 hours. How do I know when to increase the amount?? He seems to drink the 100mls at most feeds so I thought he may want more but this morning increased it to see how much more he would take, he took 130mls but then only took 70mls at his next feed. I feel lost....also this may seem like a silly question, but the scales in the chemists, can you just go in and use these or do you have to go when someone is in there? I am interested in seeing if he is back to his birth weight but the open at the child clinic isnt until next Thursday....
Superstar - If you think your little man needs more, say before bed, put an extra 20mls in. If he drinks it great! If not, then you know he's getting enough. It's just all about trying and seeing how Hunter goes. If you feel he needs more, just up the mls a bit at a time. Good luck.
Elijah lost his cord yesterday, after just 4 days! I couldn't believe it! My dr said everything with him is fast! Lol. He is also nearly 4kg. So he has put on 300g since birth. Dr is very happy. He didn't get weighed on discharge because we left a day early. Had a great sleep last night, we are co-sleeping, as this seems to be the only way we getting enough sleep and it's freezing at the moment! So it's warmer too. I managed to get up this morning and getthe other 3 ready for school on time, so I'm wrapped about that! Lol. The things you take for granted when you're pregnant! We had a good nap this afternoon too, so we are doing well so far!
Hope you're all having a great day, and Socks should be joining us soon! Yay!
superstar if sleeping well prolly no need to up how much, you will no when to up it again cause hunter wont settle or sleep long hours, and will happily take more, scarlet only has about 75 to 90mls happily, but only sleeps about 3 to 4hrs , we try upping but she wont take it really or spews it all up. which is weird cause hayley started at 120mls, but she was 4kgs baby, scarlet was only 3.3kgs, id say if hunter is sleeping well then leave it how you are going atm
my midwife nurse told me takes about 2 weeks to get back to birth weight usually, so id give it that at least.
I finally did my ticker last night, thanks to 'someone's' instructions on the Belly Buddies thread It's not the best picture of Bosley, but it'll do for the moment and I can update it later.
Bosley doesn't seem to want to sleep during the day - he was awake from 9 til 2:30 except for about 30 minutes in my arms - he cries if he's put down and even a walk in the pram didn't help. Should I be trying to get him to sleep or let him stay awake and hope it means a better night's sleep? Last night we got 4 hrs, 5 hrs and 3 hrs between feeds so I was stoked! better not say too much or I might jinx things!
Question time!!
How many singlets do you guys have for your little ones? And what sizes are your bubs wearing? Just wondering if it's worth buying Bosley any more 0000 or if he'll grow out of them too quickly. ATM we only have 5, but it's not enough. The 000 swim on him!
How's everyone going with the BF? My nipples are almost constantly tingly, very sensitive. It still hurts for the first couple of seconds when he latches on, but after that I'm ok. Plenty of cracking though - thank goodness for Lansinoh! Oh, and the leaking is pretty frustrating, especially at night time as I find I need to wear a bra to hold the breast pads in place and it can make it pretty uncomfy to sleep in. And when I get out of the shower, I drip constantly and have to hold the breast pads in place with one hand while I dry with the other! Kinda funny but kinda annoying iykwim.
What/How do you play with/amuse bubs during awake times? Bos will go in his bassinet for about 5 minutes before he gets stroppy, so we have to amuse him. He likes being sung to and will look at a rattle or musical toy if we hold it for about 2 minutes. The rest of the time he wants to be held or cradled or rocked or chest to chest. It's exhausting after 5 hours (like today!) and I can't get anything done (even going to the loo - he's screaming by the time I've done and takes ages to settle!
Sorry for all the questions, but it's interesting to know what everyone else is doing.
Sleepy - Elijah sounds like a fast healer! DH asked me if I wanted to keep Bosley's stump but that's kinda gross imo!
Pish - How are you going with your baby sling? Do you use it much and do you find it comfy? DH bought me a Bubba Moe for Mother's Day but so far I've been too sore to wear it. Is anyone else wearing their bub? At home?
I keep the little yellow clip off the cord, but obviously throw away the stump....lol. I keep all the hospital tags and the cot card too. I make little rememberance boxes for each bub.
As for breastfeeding, my boobies leak like crazy...I have to wear a bra to bed. I leak way too much if I don't, especially when the "fill" up. Lol. I use a cloth nappy to soak the leak of the side Eli isn't feeding on. My nipples aren't cracked yet. Lol, but I'll be stocking up on that soon enough!
Singlets - I have 4 0000 size singlets, but am going to get more, but the next size up, cos winter is coming and it doesn't
matter if they are too big. Elijah is just mostly wearing wonder suits at the moment, so you can't really see them.
Has anyone started getting their baby bonus yet? Or registered the babys birth yet?
I went thru my bounty bag today, there are a few useful samples in there. Like the Johnson's baby bath and wipes. Good size for a nappy bag!
Ok well gotta go and feed again......lol

Heehee I hope the instructions didn't come across as rude! I was doing them quickly from my phone and realised they were probably a bit abrupt!!
JLeigh: I have 10 singlets for Kaylee, and about 20 of the long sleeved body suits. Kaylee is still in 0000 and since singlets stretch (and the ones from target are so long...down to her knees), I'm happy to be sticking to them for a while longer yet!
Sleepwise for you, I suggest (based on previous experience at work, and working with families with sleep issues), I recommend you try and get Bosley to sleep during the day, people in sleep circles often use the quote "Sleep promotes sleep"...the more little ones sleep during the day, the more easily they sleep at night.
Also, you may find that he's awake and restless due to overstimulation...being in the outside world is quite overwhelming for little ones...to treat "arsenic hour" they recommend turning off the tv, radio etc, minimal interactions (as in holding bubs in front of you and chatting etc), and dim light etc.
For evening arsenic hour I've always recommended a nice warm bath, dim light, quiet talking, a feed, then into bed....it might be worth trying that in the middle of the day (just pull the curtains half shut or something) if you can and see if you can coax him into a nap?
As for amusing her, Kaylee likes to just watch the world go by, but I like to have a chat with her, or lay her on her play mat and tap the swinging toys for her.
Sleepy: I have to wear a bra to bed too, wish I didn't have to, but its better than wet patches! Given that I can feed Kaylee, and then express 200ml per breast!
:Hello: to everyone else! I hope you're all going well!
AFM: Kaylee is pretty good...she struggles with wind, and I've discovered that corn, broccoli and chocolate make it worse!
Still..when she settles she settles well...last night she fed at 5:30pm, slept til 11:30pm, fed, slept til 3:30am, slept, woke and fed at 8:30am (5, 4, 5) she was in bed after a feed and a bath at 6:00pm tonight, so we shall see!
Sorry to gate crash your thread....just noticed some of the gals from the ttc thread last year and wanted to say a big Congrats on the arrival of your little bundles of joy!
Babywrangler- My little girl was born breech and the dr was worried about her hips. We had a scan at 10 days and the sonographer could see everything she needed to just fine. She had some minor issues with her hips, but she said bub's hips may improve by themselves. We had another scan at 5 weeks with some improvement from the first, and we will be having a third scan at 12 weeks just to be sure her hips are still improving and looking great. Moral of the story is...find another place that does ultrasounds on babies! lol! I hope you little girls hips are ok.
okay, i will sneak back out now....best of luck with your new bubs!
for those of you formula feeding, what one are you using,
im currently using plain old s26, (not gold) and im finding bubs to get green pebby poo, so constipated, i used s26 with hayley and had no dramas that i can remeber,
im thinking about changing to heinz nurture as i have been reading about it on forums and people seem to think its good with the constipation and puking side,
i have heard alot of the gold brands also cause constipation,
Traylee01 - I used Heinz Nurture with my last son, from 3 months, and it was great. Easy to mix, cheaper than most formulas and I had absolutely no problems with constipation. I used S26 with my first son, and he had such bad constipation he was in hospital. I don't recommend anyone use S26, but it works for some people. Heinz Nurture is the one I would use again if I were to go to formula.
Traylee - we are using Karicare (not gold) and bubs seems to be loving it...not too much trouble with wind - last night was the first incidence of a 2 hour waking schedule and is regularly doing mustard poos (colour and consistancy) :-) How much is Scarlet having at each feed and how much does she feed...I am not sure if I am feeding Hunter enough - although he seems happy most of the time so I dont know why I am stressing :-)
Sleepy - that little hat in the pic is so adorable....I must get onto taking some good photos!!! Must go to spotlight to get some material for backdrops.
Yeah I agree with you regarding the ultrasound, in fact, when I called the next day for the results, even the Dr said "Im fully prepared to write a referral for a specialist right now" to which I said yes!
So even if the u/s people insist on being turds, we already have the ball rolling!!
Well, after complaining that Bosley has been awake all day for the past two days, he's basically slept all day today except for about an hour. And for most of that he lay awake and amused himself! DH and I have been waiting around all day for him to wake and be stroppy, but so far, nothing!
DH 'looked after' (ie put him in his bassinet and he slept soundly the whole time) Bosley this morning while I had a bath (refer to my avi if you're not sure how much this means to me!) - it's what I asked for as my birthday pressie! We're venturing out to my parents for my b'day lunch tomorrow so we'll see how we go - it's about a 40 minute drive.
BW - We have 5 l/s bodysuits/wondersuits, which is barely enough. Maybe we need more of those too! I have a whole heap of s/s ones and l/s with no legs, but it's a bit chilly to wear them except in the middle of the day and he usually wets through anything with no legs - I think his legs are still too skinny for his nappies.
You might be right about the overstimulation during the day. DH loves to play/talk to him and I've had to tell him over and over again not to be all chatty and play at night! Maybe he needs to cool it a little during the day too! And we do tend to have the TV on most of the time with the bassinet in the lounge as white noise. Today I made DH (much to his sadness) leave the bassinet in the bedroom, so that may be why he was able to sleep so much better...
I think Bosley doesn't like caffeine, because we had green poo again last night and the only thing I'd had was a cup of tea both afternoons - it's back to decaf for me!
Traylee - A friend had issues with reflux with the formula she was using (s26? Might have been gold, not sure) and had to change. I think she went to Karicare but can't be sure. Anyway, it was much thicker and she had no problems.
Hi there to everyone else! How are you going with your little ones?
yea, i went to get some heinz today and gave her first bottle earlier, she had 100mls, so will soon see about the poo thing working,
for the time being earlier i put the brown sugar in her formula half a teaspoon and that really does help with her poo, but i dont like to do it cause its sugar,
hence changing, but it does work lol.
she was having about 70 to 90mls, and the heinz is made up in 50ml lots, per scoop, so i gave her 100mls.
how much is eveyrone else bubs having, the s26 was made up in 60ml lots per scoop, wish they were all the same scoop sizes lol
Jleigh - with the singlets I've got about 4 x 0000 singlets & about 10 singlet suits in 000 the singlet suits are still big on her but under clothes can't really tell. Glad to hear you had a better day yesterday with Bos sleeping. I want to get a sling but haven't worked out which one to get, you'll have to let me know how you get on with yours.
Sleepy - I have to sleep in a bra too, otherwise DH would be flooded out the bed lol does that ever settle down or is that it now until I finish BF'ing? We've still got her belly button bit (gross) I wanted to chuck it out but DH wanted to keep it, so I put it aside and told him to deal with it haha.
BW - my turn for a question with you, I want DH to do one bottle feed a week (midwife recommended) so that she gets used to bottle and will feed if we need her too if I can't for any reason. So really I have no idea how much she really would need or how to reheat it and how warm it's supposed to be, I'd be guessing body temp as that is how warm my milk would be???
A big hello to Superstar, Traylee, Marni, Pish and anyone I've missed.
AFM - Little munchkin is still doing well. Worked out licorice bullets may the the cause of an unsettled time during the week which is a bummer coz I'm addicted to them lol oh well probably better for my waistline in the long run. I've survived our first week in cloth nappies, she is in sposies overnight coz of her sleep times but during the day in cloth. Only had one leaky pooey nappy so far and I consider that good odds, as we have pooey nappies every single nappy change.
ahhh little miss is stirring & DH is cooking me breakie - well brunch now looking at the time. Hope everyone has a wonderful day with your little ones
Phoenix76 - The boobies will settle down. Lol. They just getting used to feeding, it might take a few weeks, but it'll happen. As for expressing, you can freeze it, and as for warming, you just need to put it in hot water and then test it on the inside of your wrist. You'll know if it's too hot. Just put it in the microwave for about 20 seconds or so just to gauge how ling your microwave takes. They all different. I used to put a full milk bottle in the microwave for Cooper for about 40ish seconds. But like I said, just have to try and see what's right for you.
How's the Heinz working for you traylee01?
We had a pretty windy night last night, but I think I worked it out to be a few things.....bananas, onion, and I had a little tuna tin with tomato and onion on sandwhicjes for lunch yesterday, so I think I'll be avoiding anything ghat tastes good for a while....lol. He was waking every 2 hours or so and it was terrible. He was pooping and farting all night. Changed his bum about 5 times! And he hates it! So DH wasn't sleeping much either lol. Oh well, he goes back to work tomorrow.....as long as he gets sleep tonight!
