superstar, hunter would cry alot if he wasnt getting enough, plus he would wake up alot more than every 4hrs, lol
seems like ur little man is very happy and content you are a lucky one, scarlet only has about 90mls every 2 to 3hrs, soemtimes she will go longer, if im lucky
i think scarlet has gained a bit, we got on scales with her so i think she is slightly higher than her birth weight now, i was gona take to chemist to get weighed today with nurse person but had to drop hubby off for train and then went into target and woolies etc so just couldnt be stuffed

sleepy and jleigh, yea i have put scarlet in with me 2 times now when she is really stirring early in mornings when troy brings her in to me, she snuggs up next to me, i put my arm under her head and she lays on pilow to and snugs up and sleeps, although makes funny noises still, but sometimes it works,
but i dont want to get into a habit of it with her cause i dont want her wanting that al the time and getting use to it, she needs to learn to sleep in her own bed lol eventually

heehee ok, I'll try again for personals later, but re expressing:

I have an avent pump (though there are plenty of other good ones out there). I purchased it for $60 on ebay (it was brand new, still wrapped in its plastic packaging) though even from k-mart they are only around the $99 mark...there are all different avent ones. The "disposable" milk storage ones are hard to come by now, as they no longer make them, they have a bottle without a base in it.

You can express into storage bags, or avent make a product called Via which can be used with the pump, and you can attach a teat to it etc, and can be stored in the freezer and so on.

Ok...so, I only feed Kaylee from one side at a time, so then I express the other side (otherwise I explode!). If I'm full, and its a good hour or so before Kaylee's next feed, I'll express then too.
At the moment I get between 150 and 200ml per side when I express, and I fed Kaylee from a bottle today, and she took 100ml, so I'm definitely getting enough for a feed each time I express (this morning before I left the house, Kaylee was due for a feed, however I was giving her an expressed feed, so I expressed, and got a total of 350ml.

EBM can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months, and defrosted in either hot water, or a bottle warmer. Its very similar to watered down milk in terms of how long it takes to defrost...left to "air" defrost its a good couple of hours, defrosting in hot water only takes about 10 minutes...but when I was feeding boyo solely expressed milk from a bottle, I would take the days feeds out of the freezer in the morning and place them in the fridge, that way they had started the process before he needed a bottle....I'd also put them in the hot water about 15mins before he was due for a feed (assuming 4 hourly feeds) so they were ready before he wanted them!

Jleigh - Sounds like you've had a rough couple of days, I'm a fan of having a good cry when it all gets too much. I've just been for a walk down to chemist and got some breastmilk bags and going to sit down and do my first "proper" express, rest I've done have just been to give my breasts some relief when they feel like bursting. Going to attempt a semi bottle feed tonight as A has taken to cluster feeding from about 5-11pm and my nipples need a break lol.

Superstar - I'm with you on the sleep, I LOVE my sleep - I've got a good sleeper and still feel like a zombie. I'm lucky she knows night from day too and her nightime feed is a dream feed where she barely wakes up and goes straight back down. I used to rub my belly everynight when I was pregnant before bed and tell her that it was bedtime & time to sleep, maybe she got the hint hahaha.

BW - thanks again for the expressing info, it's all such a learning curve this motherhood thing and nothing you read before really prepares you. Great news that you managed to get an appointment with the specialist so quickly and not the usual weeks or months that appointments can take.

Marni - wow that is a great weight gain, glad to hear little P is growing well.

Esme - hello, good to hear from you and that B is doing well too. Got a giggle with you squirting him in the face, I got myself in the eye other day trying to get her to latch properly.

Not that much to report here except A is either having a grown spurt or trying to increase my milk supply as past couple of nights between about 5-11.30pm she has become a cluster feeding nightmare and my nipples are peeling like they were when I first started BF'ing OUCH. She only goes down for about half hour/hour and then up again crying unless she's being held or fed. That said once she is down and settled she is out for the count and went right through till 5.30 this morning:hide:

Have the CAFHS nurse coming for our home visit on Friday morning, she has to have her hearing rechecked as it came up a "refer" in hospital, so fingers crossed this one comes back normal and will be good to see how much she's put on since last week.

oh that's what I was going to ask....

What are you noticing about your little bubs that they've inherited from you and DH. A has my ears, nose & fingers and my slow waking stretching & crankiness lol. She has DH's lips, chin & toes and I joke his impatience :)

Phoenix76 - Elijah has almost everything of his daddy. His toes, lips, nose, ears, cankles.....lmao. Eli has my shape head tho. I guess that made birth easier. Cooper has daddys head, big and block shape lol. Oh and Elijah frowns alot. So does DH!

Has anyone considered having an alcoholic beverage or 2 yet? Lol. I have thought about it, but not sure as I think it'll give bubs wind!

Phoenix - P has everything of her daddy. Both of my girls have been spitting images of DH. No mistaking who their father is, lol! With your nipples, you could try nipple shields until they heal, I've had to use them and they really do help when you are in pain.

Sleepy - I have considered alcohol, but havn't drunk any - I didn't while pregnant either.

Erin - Babies do have a growth spurt around 2 weeks so it is likely that is what is going on.

Traylee - Hope you get some sleep tonight!

JLeigh - I used to cry in the shower alot! You don't feel as bad when there is water mixed with your tears either. Also I think you can hire a breast pump from chemists or hospitals if you want to try them before you buy one. Might be something to look into.

Hi girls! I've been meaning to mention this for weeks (before the births even started!)
There's a great book (but I saved my money and looked at the chart on the website) called 'the wonder weeks'.
It outlines specific weeks in a childs (any childs) life where they have a burst of development. These developmental births often coincide with increased crankiness, feeding, sleep disturbances etc.
It's great, and accurate (we matched the markers with boyo!) the first, as most of us have seen is around 2 weeks (remember the 2 hour feeding etc?!).

It's worth a look!!! (just google the wonder weeks)

Better get boyo to crèche (am writing this on my phone while little lady has brekky!!)

Sleepy - I've been having the occasional half glass of red wine with dinner, A usually feeds around 5.30 - 6.00 and we eat straight after she's finished and my glass of wine with dinner was one thing I really missed while pregnant. So far it doesn't seem to be causing any problems wind wise, she's been really unsettled from that feed anyway till about 10.00-11.00pm for past few days, so figure it's good for me LOL.

Jleigh - I've got a closer to nature breast pump, I got out about 30ml yesterday arvo and defrosted what I had in freezer for DH to make up a 50ml feed which she took from bottle & guts down no problems. So relieved she will take it and DH can feed her if I ever need. I topped her up afterwards.

Marni - was looking at the nipple shields in the chemist yesterday, have been coating them in lansinoh between feeds & they are better today coz I got a good break overnight, I'm almost ashamed to admit she slept from 10.30pm til 5.00am the past two nights after reading about everyone's sleepless nights :redface:

Hi All.

We had a pretty good night sleep, Elijah fed at 9pm, woke at 2am for another feed, then was grizzly at 5am with wind pains. We went out for dinner last night as it was DH's birthday, i had a fair bit of coke (still afraid to have alcohol yet), but not sure if thats what did it. But he has been asleep since about 10ish now, and is starting to stir for another feed...I probably should have had a nap...but i think it's too late now...oh well.

Anyway, hope you're all having a great day with your bubs, and enjoying all the little cuddles and kisses....I can't stop kissing Elijah..he is just sooo adorable....and i love the way he stretches, and arches his back..and purses his lips....just wanna eat him up....lol

sleepy sounds like scarlet lol, she went down bout 7pm, woke at 11ish, then again at 2.30 then 5.30ish, wasnt to bad she was easier to get to sleep last night so i slept in between and they were good sleeps lol

yea i put hayley to bed at 8.30 and then i went to sleep to so it helped having the extra bit, troy will be home at 4ish from coast so maybe he can have her tonight and ill have full night sleep,
although it was nice cause i like to kiss her and talk to her and cuddle lol.
eve though im tired i no she cant help waking for feeds, she will grow out of it,
dont u love watching them sleep during day making funny faces and grinning :)

i want to get her a playmat and give her time to play, and also give her belly time to so she gets use to it

I love watching her sleep, so innocent & peaceful and the funny faces are sooo cute and so are the wind smiles. Can't wait for the real ones :)

I sneak into her room while she's sleeping and just watch her for a minute or two, I still find it hard to believe she's mine.

Yeah they just gorgeous! Even when they fart. Lol. And I love those windy smiles. So beautiful!

i no what u mean, we have wanted another for so long, so pretty much you no hayley is 6.5 so at least 4.5yrs of that of wanting one and it not happening,
i went on diet shakes (optifast) lost 21kgs in 5 months, ( i didnt stick to just shakes all time i ate to at times when i wanted ) so took longer, and started to feel sick on them and found out i was pregnant, i was in shock, after trying so long, i wasnt expecting it i had given up and thought it wasnt goin to happen, i went threw so many emotions and downers and worry then when my fluid got high i was more worried,
but now im so happy to have 2 little girls, so sweet, i still have 20kgs to lose to get to goal weight, im glad when i got home on scales to see im back down to my pre preg weight lol i was alittle worried cause i gained 14kgs pregnant lol but lost it all pretty much straight away as i did have alot of fluid lol

anyways sorry to ramble but im just so happy things have worked out for all of us, and how lucky we all are to have our little bundles in our arms

The farts crack me up, she did one so loud this morning while DH was holding her I blamed him LOL

Traylee - it's amazing the journey everyone has had to be here with their littlies. A huge congrats on being back to your pre-preg weight. I was happy when I made it back too coz the doc's had been onto me about not putting too much weight on, I had put on 8kgs going by weigh in they did when I went into hospital , now just got the last 10-12kgs to go.

ahhh got cranky baby, the arsenic hours are starting early tonight by the sounds of it :(

I'm sorry, but I just have to get something off my chest! I am really annoyed by a certain ad on tv. From KFC. The ad where the husband and wife are driving thru the drive thru, and she's in labour....as if you'd be going thru a drive thru when you're in that much pain! And she doesn't even look like she's in pain....I know because I was driving to the hospital having contractions! And I wasn't smiling, I was holding the handle above the window grunting with each contraction!

Sorry but that ad just irritates me to no end!

lol its a funny add, but yea pretty dumb,
i was in car with my mum when she was in labour with my brother when i was 15, and she was holding onto handle to as she couldnt sit properly,
i me being me, said oh mum its ok think about sex it will cheer u up, it didnt lol she was a bit cranky i said that, but i wasnt thinking thats what got her into the mess in first place
was funny though
but yea pretty silly add lol

Evening all!!!

We arrived home last night, but I have been so busy, haven't had a chance to get on here.

Hadley travelled so well in the car!!! We are so lucky! H is a great sleeper, feeder and traveller, as is (and was as a baby) T. So my grandad got to meet our newest arrival which I am so glad! We got photos of him with H and then a few with both H and T, but he doesn't handle T running around and fidgetting, so we made it quick. So sad to see my strong, independant grandad so sick and so out of it from the pain killers he's on. I can see that the end is near and that just breaks my heart, I've always been quite close to him, but he is 73 so he's had a good life (not that it makes it any easier).

Anyways enough of my rambling. Hope you don't mind but I'm just going to start fresh from here rather than trying to catch up on everything. I hope all the littlies are settling in nicely and mummies are recovering well!

P is now in 000 bodysuits! She is too long for 0000. I am a little sad but happy she is growing so well. We are 3 weeks old today and just about to go into infant nappies! Hope everyone has a good day, I have to go to a physio class at the hosp and then do groceries. I'm not looking forward to that it has been about a month since we did a proper shop so it will cost a fortune!

marni, yea second night was better ish, troy had her last night and i said dont bring her in to me till after 7 lol, i was so nice after his 4.5hr drive home lol
scarlet is in 000 to, she was fron start but they were bit long and long in arms, but good length for her now, still the arms bit long, but not as bad as they were, i found the 0000 squashed her legs up to much lol

WOW, I can't believe your bubs are so big!!! I have just got H in 0000 she has been in 00000 as the 0000 were just too big!!

The comm nurse is coming at 11:30, really looking forward to seeing how much weight my little girl has put on. She has such cute chubby cheeks and they've got bigger so I know she's definately putting on weight!

We had a great night last night, only 1 feed through the night, not sure what time it was as we don't have a clock in our room. We're co-sleeping which I honestly never thought I'd even consider!!! She has had a snotty nose causing her to choke and throw up so I have been way too scared to have her on her back in another room. I must say it makes night feeds the best! I just have to pull out the boob, put her on then have a nap until she comes off, quickly change her bum, then swap boobs. She falls asleep on the second boob and we both have a solid sleep until the next feed! So much better than getting up and down several times a night! :)

Kaylee is a pip squeak too! She's still in 0000 (and pumpkin patch prem size) at 4 weeks!

Newborn patch stuff swims on her, and I looked at a 000 suit today and just laughed...I'd never find her in it!!!

scarlet is only in the wondersuits in 000, some other stuff in 000 doesnt fit swims on her, so i could say some stuff would be 0000 but yea the bonds wondersuits or ones from like bigw etc fit in 000

Our appoinment went really well with the nurse. H has put on 520g since birth and grown 4cm!!! I knew I was a good cow but didn't expect quite that much gain! I couldn't be happier, T didn't get back to her birth weight for weeks, she just kept loosing so great to hear things are different this time.

Afternoon everyone

Pish - Welcome back, glad to hear you had a good time and your granddad got to meet his new grand daughter. A is still in 0000 clothes, she is in 000 wondersuits & singlet suits even though they are a bit big on her plus her cloth bum fills them out a bit. 0000 wondersuits seem to be short in the legs for her and she's still not even 51cm yet and only 3.6kgs at 4 weeks.

BW - I pulled out some 000 outfits I can't wait to put on her.......they went back in the drawer for a few more weeks.

Sleepy - I haven't seen teh KFC ad but now I want to lol.

We had our home visit by nurse today, A only put on 140gms in 8 days (she put on 300grams the week before) so I have to add an extra feed in and might add in some expressing and see how she goes next week. I had a feeling my milk was slowing down for some reason, I found a milkshake in a breast feeding thread on here with Activite & skim milk powder so will give that a go from tomorrow, I've just tried Activite in milk and it's yummy. There are also some lactation cookies I've been looking at making, just got to find the motivation.

Apart from that she's grown nearly 3cms from birth and her head circumference has grown by 3.5cms and nurse was really happy with her and apparently those "wind" smiles I've been getting past day or two are actually real smiles :D She also had a refer on her hearing test but passed the repeat test today with flying colours so that was a relief for us.

A big hello to everyone, off to feed little miss. I can't quite multitask that yet and I have to get all comfy and in position on sofa LOL

i dont no about the whole smile with wnd pain, scarlet smiles alot in her sleep and grins, and its so cute,
i dont think its wind, soemtimes now when i touch her cheek and try tickle she grins but not as much as in her sleep, she does the widest biggest grins today while falling asleep and i cracked up laughing it was so cute.
im gonna take bubs to get weighed next week maybe and see how much she has gained

Thank you everyone for your kind words and positive comments. I feel a lot better after seeing the Community Health Nurse and chatting to her. She also saw B grizzly and helped me settle him (which took quite an effort and gave her a chance to see that he can be a little 'difficult').
We watched a DVD about Tired Signs in babies. It was great and confirmed that B is definately overtired/overstimulated a lot of the time. We got some info and hints (The Triple P brochures are pretty good) on how to settle and everything they had said not to settle or feed them to sleep but help them to self-settle instead. DH is sad because it means that he can't rush over and cuddle him as soon as he so much as whimpers and he stresses heaps when B cries. But for me it's a godsend because it was the being right there all the time and holding him that was a big part of making me feel so tired and resentful!

B got weighed and measured again and has put on over 1/2kg and 2 1/2cm in length. :dance: He's just fitting into the 0000 wondersuits still, but I reckon will need to go to 000 in a week or so - it's the legs here too, even though he's only 49.5cm. All the other brands still have oodles of room in 0000 though. It's kind of annoying how different brands are so different in size!

B has his dad's ears and lips and my fingers and toes. The jury is still out as to whose nose he has! We love watching him sleep because he has the best poses. Today he slept with one arm straight out in front, right in the air. And yep, he smiles in his sleep too (sooooo cute!)

Traylee - The CH nurse suggested we weigh B every week for the 1st 6 wks (the CH centre has scales you can use anytime) - can you go there?

Pish - Glad your trip went well and that you have 2 good travellers. Sounds like your grandad was glad to meet Hadley. Well done on 'growing' her so well!

Phoenix - I've just about managed to master reading a mag and feeding but anything else is out due to the mound of pillows I need to be comfy! The CH Nurse said about 120g or more a week gain is normal so sounds like you have nothing to worry about...

BW - Ta for all the BF info. I haven't looked into it any more but at least now I have lots of info.

AFM - Went to the docs this morning as my asthma has been playing up and I seem to have an allergy to Napi-San (lovely rash on my hand from all those dirty cloths). I also have a bit of an infection on my C/S scar and got the swine flu and whooping cough vaccines as well. The Dr did an ECG and spiro-something-or-other and sent me for a chest x-ray just to make sure it was asthma and not a blood clot on the lung from the C/S too so I reckon I've had the works today!

jleigh we have a health nurse at local chemist who is there eveyr wed, so i was just gonna take weds, and maybe weigh at home to lol when we get on and stuff,
i nver got told with either child to go each week thats weird, hayley i took monthly i think but id like to keep check anyways but im formula feeding and i no she gaining cause we got on other day and she was heavier, think it was like a 300gram difference

I've been lucky enough to pick up a tummy bug, wow lucky me! (TMI warning) have had the runs for the past couple of days and today was really bad. Tummy cramps have been aweful and DH decided he want to go out for the day and stay out tonight so have had to soldier on with the littlies, but it's not been so bad thankfully. Heres hoping all be back to normal tomorrow! :)

Well I had better go, T is doing her very best to wake H so she can have a cuddle!

tiff i no how u feel, i had the same kinda tummy thing other day it lasted 24hrs, i had runny poo and bad belly ache to and wondered what it was from,
tmi i no, but how is eveyrones bleeding goin, mine has been on and off since coming out of hossy, but seems to have stopped last 2 days, gone to like a light brownish now, but will prolly come back i no.

scarlet has been sleeping well today, she is only taking about 60 to 80mls but least she aint throwing it up like she was, she seems happier now.

she was very unsettled last night i ws getting so frustrated lol but lucky troy had during night, lol so i slept all night
cause troy is a night person he stays up all night to have her and sleeps most of the day lol

Hi all. Just a quick one to say hi to everyone, and let you all know I'm still here. Lol. Have been very tired the last few days. But I had a good nap today, so I feel much better. One of my boobies is getting really sharp pains and I think it may be blocked, so I think I better go have a shower and express from it before it turns into mastitis (sp?). It really hurts. I had mastitis when I stopped feeding Cooper, and it got infected and I ended up having anti biotics.

Elijah has been pretty good at night, only waking twice generally, but he has had a bit of wind the last few nights, so wakes up screaming and I have to pat him and put his dummy back in. The light sleeping makes me really tired. I haven't been able to do any food shopping for the last two days cos it just seems hard to get out of the house. DH has been a great help, cooking dinners and cleaning where he can. So that's nice.

Ok well bub needs to go to bed, hopefully I'll be back for persies soon.

Oh and I think DH had that tummy bug last week. He was awake all night, running to the loo. Wasn't good. But at least no one else got it. And as for the bleeding, it's slowing down, there is usually nothing there in the mornngs, but it's light during the day and hopefully it'll stop soon ;)

i had scarlet last night gave troy a rest, i was abit annoyed anyways at him lol, he said he stays awake all night when he has her, he watches movies on his pc while she sleeps, which means theres is a light on all time when she in there lol, well the light from the pc, cause if he goes to sleep to hard to wake up, i was like u cant do that she will get use to it and get confused with night and day,
but anywyas i had her in with me, she woke up at 12.30, 4, and then again at 6.30
yeamy bleeding seems to come soemtimes during day like after bending soemtimes or doin weird things lol, so i highly doubt its completly finished,
TMI troy wanted to have sex last night i was like no, not yet not ready (im worried about more bleeding coming lol)
i have been wanting weirdly enough i didnt think i would but i should wait till my 6 week chekcup from dr first, i think ur meant to with csections anyays even though my belly looks great and healing well :)

My DH says my body is looking very sexy...and i think he is quite keen to DTD soon...and I'm not sore or anything, its just the bleeding. Once that stops - it all systems go! lol.

We had an ok night sleep, woke 3 times, so I'm quite tired again today, but we got the food shopping done tho, which was great! I feel better knowing there are chocolate biscuits and stuff....lol. I'm still craving chocolates....and I don't think that gives Eli wind, I think its just onions and chilli and garlic, the usual culprits! Oh and bananas too...they are terrible things for gas/wind!

Afternoon

My DH is another keen to DTD, I've recovered pretty well and not sore anymore, bleeding stopped after about 3 weeks (only lost my stitches earlier this week).......I'm just too damn tired lol

Only issue I do have is pelvic floor weakness, does anyone else have issues and does it get better with time? I try to remember to do my excercises but forget more often than I remember, never thought sneezing would be so much of a problem lol.

Tina - Welcome, how is your little man settling in at home? Great to hear your DH is taking to fatherhood so well, isn't it wonderful just watching them together.

Jleigh - Glad you got some answers & help from the nurse, hoping B is settling a bit better for you now.

Sleepy - I'm lucky too with the chocolate not giving her wind, but think my beloved morning coffee was responsible for her arsenic hours at night. Haven't had one for 2-3 days and she's been fine again at night, so giving that up for a while which is going to kill me as I don't function well without my morning coffee.

Hello Superstar, Traylee, Socks, Marni, BW, Esme, Erin & PMcask and anyone I might have missed.

Nothing much to report here, yesterday I did my first public BF.....well it was in the car but still away from home lol, I had given DH an experience for stunt car driving for his birthday we were supposed to go back in January but that was when dad was in hospital and yesterday was next time they were running it in Adelaide. A was really well behaved and slept most of time in her pram.

Weather is yuck here today and I'm still in my PJ's but better go have a shower.

has anyone else bubs got a sniffy cloggy nose,
i been thinking teething already cause she keeps putting my finger in her mouth and chewing on it, and its bit swollen in there, hayley got her first 2 teeth at 3 months old, but teethed early.

but then today she has been ok up till 1ish then woke up clogged sniffly nose and crap and then i thought oh maybe im over dressing her and took her wondersuit off, then she screamed and wouldnt settle and crap and i put it back on and she went to sleep with some more bottle,
what is eveyrone dressing there bubs in, she lives in the bonds suits thats it, and we r inside, and its pretty chilly,
i also read dry air can make there nose cloggy
this morning at 4am when she wouldnt settle she was all cloggy and makking weird noise and im always worried about her chest from in hosssy and all the fluid she swollowed and had the crap removed so im always worried about it,

anyways sorry for the rant on, if she not better and stuff tomorrow i will see about taking her to drs

Phoenix - Have you thought about decaf? Or tea? Or even Milo? I need my morning coffee too, so if I couldn't have it, I'd be trying something else.

Traylee01 - I don't know. Maybe her stuffy nose is milk in her nasal passage. I know babies sometimes vomit and it comes out their noses. If Hayley teethed early, then maybe it's possible. But if you're worried, maybe you should take her to the dr. Eli has had a bit of a stuffy nose the other night, but it was because of snot. Lol. Grose but I had to get it out so he could breathe properly.

Hi all
Just a quick note to say that I'm around but not finding much time to read all the posts. I know I don't technically fit into this group, but I don't know anyone in the next!

Evelyn is a great baby and is much more sleepy than Annabelle was, even as a newborn, so I'm really appreciating getting a bit of a break. Annabelle is taking things really well. I think she realises that Evelyn is here to stay, but does want some mum cuddles sometimes and asks DH to take "little baby" off me so she can have them. I don't blame her. Just hope we do ok once DH has gone back to work.

I'll try and find time to write up my labour story at some point, but basically things went pretty normally. Spontaneous onset, active labour was about 5 hrs and pushing was probably about 30-40 mins. Managed to hold out on drugs until about 7-8cm where my waters were broken, then I didn't give up the gas. After having an epi the first time round, it was nice (but very painful) not to have one this time. We came home the next day and have been going great guns with feeding. Evelyn was 3808g (8lb 6oz), so pretty big for a small me, but managed to make her way out without doing TOO much damage.

I'll try and catch up on some posts. I hope you're all enjoying having little babies around and are getting enough sleep to keep your heads up. :)
