Hi ladies,
We got home on Sunday night, but I have been a bit busy to jump on here, then when I got time yesterday my computer was stuffing up. All seems to be ok today, but I am glad we are getting a new one soon.
If it's ok with you all I'm going to start fresh from today rather than try to catch up on everything.
H and T are both sick! H has had high temps a very green running nose, throwing up greenies, even having green poo along with a horrible cough, poor little baby, so we've been having lots of cuddles. Dr said to just keep doing what I'm doing and not to be afraid to give her Panadol for those temps. As for T, her nose is running like a tap, but this thankfully clear and has an aweful cough and weezing like mad. Got her on a puffer again which gives her a bit of relief. Even with 2 sick girls I am happy to report I'm happy and healthy!!! :) lol
H had her first 8 hour sleep the other night, it was lovely. She is now doing on average 7 hours at night which is great, When I get up to her, on goes the air con and we all wake to a beautifully warm house! :)
Anyways ladies I hope you all have a great day

Fertility - there is a temp increase on the day you are most fertile (when you may notice ewcm (egg white cervical mucas)), sperm can survive for 3-4days, to my knowledge its girl sperm who last the distance, and you are still in your fertile period the day after that spike. at least that is the knowledge i have from my time ttc. My DH knows if he doesnt tarp up then he isnt getting any loving! TMI - ha asked if we could do it a bit then put it on...again i said no cause of pre-ejauculation...he thought i was making it up.
Routine - poor Zen fits into our routine. i attempt to keep his feed times regular but if we are going somewhere he may get fed half hr early/late. he generally feeds between 7-8pm then sleeps till 4am and is generally up by 6am.
Feeding - i have a box of farex on hand for when he appears to need that bit extra.it has been tempting to give a spoon at night with last feed & try to get that extra hr or two sleep but i will wait till he seems to need the extra nourishment.
-
yea tina im not temtping lol, im wondering if i od on that ewcm day, or after, i stoped cramping on that day night ish, so what im wodnering is if you stop cramping if o is over, i only had that day of the ewcm lots of it, but i think last night while dtd sorry tmi again but it felt like we could get alot more in if you no what i mean felt comfier and yea so now ill be worried for the next few weeks,
i said to hubby i feel like i have cheated and done soemthign wrong in guilt, he laughed and said me to he said oooops, i said yea but it was so much better without the rubber lol they so suck, we rnt use to using them at all so its horrid when we do,
oh well time will tell i guess

Hi Everyone
Damn it, I'm stiill not getting notifications and now so far behind in what's going on in here. Had a quick read but have to sit down when I've got more time to catch up properly.
Birth Control - I'd die if I got pregnant just now, I've started taking the mini-pill but so hopeless in remembering to take it think I'm going to go and have the Mirena IUD put in. Have heard pretty good reports on it from a few people, it lasts five years but you can have it removed at any time and your fertility comes straight back.
Rash - It does sound like milk spots, A had them quite bad across her forehead and cheeks. It's gone now but still get them come up occasionally.
BW - What fantastic news with K getting her harness off and the all clear on her UTI follow up  Don't know what I"m doing wrong with the Itti's they've been washed quite a few times, hot washed etc and they leak after about an hour.
Tiff - Welcome back, your poor little girls being sick, hope they are feeling better real soon and that you stay healthy.
JLeigh - the flushable liners we bought off ebay, they are made of viscose and I haven't had any issue with nappy rash so far (have with sposies).
Hello to Tina, Marni, PM, Caplay, Erin, Socks, Traylee and anyone I've missed I promise I'll try and keep up - will be easier next week DH is back to work on Tuesday :)
Had my last official mothers group yesterday but we are all going to try and meet up again next week - they all seem like a nice bunch of ladies so hopefully it will keep going as it's great to get out amongst other mums.
A's sleeping is only getting better each night, she had her first night in her gro-bag and slept for 10 hours till 7.30, fed and then slept again until 10.30.......oh and she's now sleeping again :) she has no real routine except that morning sleep but I'm definately not complaining since she does such a great effort at night.
hmmm I'm supposed to be downloading a council application form to demolish this place.....better get to it :)
Have a great day ladies

hi all
I'm going to reply via topic again as we've had a few common themes this week.
Nappies/liners - I've had Evelyn in cloth occasionally but her thighs are still a bit small for the small BBH magicalls. For both girls I use eenies flushable liners and the cheapest I've found them is the roll of 500 from the ebay shop Bumpy Buns. I started using these with Annabelle because she would get eczema and these keep her pretty dry. I love that they're flushable so you don't have to deal with the solids too much!
Routine - I'm trying to implement a bit of a routine, but it's not easy with E only sleeping for half an hour then often not resettling. I'm hoping she'll start sleeping longer soon because she doesn't want to feed any more often than 3-3.5hrly during the day and I'm trying to stick with feed/play/sleep. Basically we bath/shower both girls at 7pm then A is in bed by 7:30 and I normally start feeding E while reading A stories, then she goes to bed, then I finish feeding and settle. She's normally asleep by 8:30. Lately we've been having a 3:30-4:30am feed then up by about 7:30/8am for another feed and to start the day. Feed about 11am, 2/2:30, 5:30/6 then bedtime one. Whatever I can get out of her sleep-wise between the feeds is great but I often put her in the sling about 3:30/4pm for that last sleep in the hope that it will be a big one. She can't seem to stay awake much more than 1-1.5hrs without either falling asleep wherever she is or getting cranky. I can't wait to move E to a sleeping bag at night time but her arms are still way out of control.
Rash - E's is quite bad at the moment on her face, head and neck. I thought it was baby acne as some of the ones in her hair were a bit pussy but it's gotten really dry and I'm wondering now if it's dermatitis or eczema. I'll ask the doc when we go for needles next week if it's still there/bad. I don't want to moisturise it if it is baby acne because that will make it worse but if it's eczema (with both DH and DD1 get) then you need to moisturise regularly.
[B]
better go, E hit her half hour sleep cycle. I will resettle until she gets the message! ;)
-
PM - I hope that E starts settling for you better soon. Have you tried her side or belly? I know P will not sleep on her back.
Traylee - Are you trying for another bub? I don't think I could even consider it!
Pish - Welcome back! Hope the girls get better soon.
Phoenix - When will you demolish?
JLeigh - Hi!!!
Sleepy - Hi to you as well!
Soft Spots - Has anyone else noticed their bubs soft spot droop? Not completely sunk but just enough to notice? Phoebes has done it a few times but she isn't unwell but I don't know whether to be worried or not?
I bought the Angelcare baby monitor today so if I manage to set it up will try putting P in her cot overnight! Not really sure how she will go but I think she will be fine. I have a 2.5 tog sleeping bag to keep her warm!
-
hi Marni
E resettled this afternoon after me complaining! I have her in the hugabub for her late arvo nap though, I like to keep her close for one sleep in the day. Will prob have to stop that soon though or she will begin demanding it!
Re soft spots - I'm pretty sure they depress when they're hungry/thirsty as it's a sign of hydration, so if it's just before a feed I wouldn't worry.
-
marni no i am not lol, just we dtd without using protection so i was bit concerned as i lots of the ewcm on tues so maybe that was my o day so ill be safe
i havent had a normal period come back yet but that im pretty sure was def ovulation cause it was exacly like ewcm, and the sat night and sun etc i had pains in ovary pelvis area.
me having a csection i gotta be careful, but im not allowed on contraceptives so only thing is condoms and they suck
-
Pm - She's not hungry or thirsty, this has happened after a feed and she isn't dehydrated, thats why it is so confusing! Yay on the resettling.
Traylee - Oh, you may be a little worried for a while then...
My monitor has to charge for 15 hours before I can use it!!! So P is still with us tonight, her bed tomorrow night!
-
Morning all
Marni - Not sure on the soft spot, I honestly haven't noticed A's but that could be because of the hair :) Hopefully demolition will be about 4-6 weeks after we move out, there is a few things we want to salvage out of the place before they knock it down. After living in this dump for 8 years, I am getting excited about having a new place & most importantly a kitchen with benchspace, I love to cook but this kitchen depresses me it's so small and useless.
PM - Great news on E re-settling for you, hoping she keeps it up. A has taken to having her afternoon nap in her pram, not sure if that's a good or bad thing though.
Hello to everyone else, it's Friday (am I the only one who loses track of what day it is) and only 3 days till DH is gone again :( but I know I can do it now so not so stressed. I haven't got my period back yet either, the 25th of this month will be 12 months since my last one.......am not complaining and will be real sad if and when it shows up again. Mum took ages to get hers back so hoping I'm like her.
Everything is still ticking along quite well here, A is growing up fast and everyday is taking in more of the world around her. Most of the time she's pretty placid & content, though nappy/clothes change time can bring on a trantrum of epic proportions and anyone would think I'm pulling her toe nails out or something.
Have a great weekend everyone, the weather is cold but sunny here so going to try and make the most of it :)
-
Hi all.
Elijah had his needles this morning. I can't believe he is 2 months old already! Poor baby screamed when he got them.. So sad! But he is asleep now. Hopefully he sleeps it off, and doesn't get too sick from them.
I had a preg test this morning at the Dr, and thank goodness it was negative! I have been getting a few dizzy spells, felt like i was going to be sick this morning, and feeling very tired, even tho E is sleeping better. So I was a bit worried. I don't hink I could handle having another one right now.
I had a really bad day yesterday, ended up in tears and just couldn't deal with everything. Cooper was squealing the place down, he wouldn't stop misbehaving, he hurt E twice. He tried to pick him up out of his bouncer, and it toppled over, I ran to the loungeroom and found E face down under his bouncer, thank goodness he wasn't seriously hurt. Then later on in the evening, E was having floor time, when Cooper decided he was going to run into E. He hit his head with the front of his little ride on car...I was not impressed with him yesterday. I had a melt down! I was tired and stressed and just needed a break! Cooper is at daycare today, so I'm having a quiet day.
Is anyone else finding it hard to eat properly? I don't get much of a chance to eat healthy enmough, or at all sometimes. I just grab whatever is in the fridge, and it's usually chocolate biscuits or donuts or whatever is easiest...I am not losing weight because of it...I'm not happy with myself and I can't fit any of my old clothes, without looking like a beached whale, with muffin top hanging over the top of my jeans. I really hate it, and I' don't get time to myself to do anything....I hope it changes raelly soon, because DH isn't going to get any loving if I keep feeling like this!
-
Sleepy - oh you poor thing, big hugs to you on having such a rotten day yesterday. I would have had a meltdown too. Hopefully E sleeps his needles off today so you can have a nice relaxing day at home just the two of you.
Eating - I try to eat healthy (when I eat) but for some reason after being good while pregnant all I want now is chocolate, biscuits & coke and I've been eating it like they are never going to be making it ever again......it's like I'm getting my cravings now!
-
Sleepy - My eating is terrible. Ihave only just eaten today and it is 2pm. I seem to live on coffee. I hope that you have a much better day today!!! At least you have DTD we still havent cause I am still bleeding a little.
Phoenix - You will be fine without DH - I am sure it will get easier each time but obviously you will still miss him!
-
we haven't dtd yet either, I'm still a little freaked out after my tear, that and bfing completely removes any desire!
E fell asleep in the trolley at the shops (I only just popped in) and had 20 mins then thought nap time was over so we're a bit out of whack this arvo. I let her play for a little while and am trying to get her to have a bit more of a nap. She's not hungry, but she is tired so fingers crossed we get back on track before bed time!
Eating - I tend to eat with A and eat whatever I make for her, so at least I know I'll have some toast in the morning, some snacky foods at lunch (fruit, crackers, cheese) and then dinner. I am still hungry in between meals though so try and snack on fruit or muesli bars or similar (or biscuits if I have been bad and bought some). I made chocolate pudding last night though, so have been nibbling on that most of today :S
Marni - yay you can use your monitor tonight!
Sleepy - phew to not being pregnant! That would have been a very short age gap!
Ah, she's not having a bar of this extra sleep, better go see what I can do. I got the big one down for a nap so i can dedicate a bit of time to the small one. I'm so glad A is still napping! She's 2 next week! Next thing I know it'll be E that's turning 2.
Hi to everyone else, hope you're having a good day. I had a great day yesterday with both girls so that gave me some fuel for a while :)
-
Morning all how was everyones night?
Marni- How did P go in her own bed with the moniter etc?
Soft spot- I have noticed Mays as it is quite visable due to her not havig much hair sometimes it does seem sunken abit but then comes right again i also see it pulsating sometimes is that normal?
Pheonix- i also havent got AF back yet i am pretty sure with my last DD it was back by now but hey i am not complaining either although i have thought for the last week it is going to arrive soon but still hasnt goodluck with the demolition and eveything.
Sleepy- Oh i can console with you i had a shocker of a day yesterday with the 2 older children 51/2 and 7 yrs and neally had a break down moment when DP went out for abit Our DS has been a shocker lately back answering and being a little smart i am really at my wits end with him he has been like it most of the holidays how old are your children? i am hoping today is a better day i never would of thought a boy and girl would fight so much heres hoping May and Lola 18mths get along alot better.
How did E go last night after his needles?
Eating- i am a shocker i am lucky to eat by afternoon atm with all the kids at home i seem to never stop just for a min to have something i also grab and eat on the run but at tea time i will take the time to sit and eat a meal with everyone but half the time just grab whats quick and easy to need to try make time to sit have proper breakfast and lunch etc.
PM- Oh they grow up so quick dont they i cant believe it was 7 yrs ago i had caprice DD1 she will be a teenager before we know it. Hope E had a sleep for you.
A big hello to everyone else.
AFM- well we have had a interesting couple of days May hasnt been herself normally she sleeps and settles so well in the day but yesterday and the day before she has been cat napping and just not herself also back to taking a couple hours to settle at night time again (thought we might of got past that) i am not sure whether it is from the needles on tuesday or a growth spurt? or just the reflux as she has been very spewy the last couple days and i forgot to ask the doc about that tuesday totally blew my mind with all the screamimg from DD2 might have to make an appointment just for that as it dosent seem to be any better. She also has a touch of oral thrush so had to go the chemist and get some stuff for that She has cradle cap in her eyebrows oh she just seems to be in the wars atm poor little darl.
whats everyones plans for the weekend? me nothing much Mum comes this afternoon so am looking forward to seeing her. other then i get up this morning and it is blowing a gale outside and am scared a tree might fall as we have quite a few big gums round us going to be cold and wet here so indoors for us.
Anyway May gone back to sleep so might try do a few things before they all get up takecare and have a nice weekend everyone.
-
Hi
Caplay - I had a better day yesterday. Cooper is 3, and only just turned 3 last week. The others are Jhye and he's 8 and Kyle who is 12, nearly 13. E was pretty unsettled last night, from about 1am. He wasn't hungry he was just unsettled and kept wanting his dummy put back in.
I was quite happy when I got the negative result yesterday. I think having another one wouldn't be so bad, but having such a small age gap would be terrible, considering E wouldn't even be walking by that stage!
We have no plans this weekend, just going to take it easy I think. It's alot windy and possibly rainy. So doubt we'll be going anywhere. Hope you all have a great weekend tho.
-
cap we had shocker of a day yesterday to i was concered, s wasnt sleeping took ages to settle last night and had spews like spit up after every feed also, i thought we had just got on top of the reflux but ill see and might go to drs.
she seems to be fine today not bringing anything up and hast cried one today yet, only but 5mins ago for bottle, so i dunno wats gion on, she is just over 9 weeks now,
hope she stays settled, i put farex in her bottle last night to try help she only had half though
-
Unsettled bubs - Sorry to hear there seems to be a few of these lately. B seems to have gotten over his grumpy spell and we haven't had any tears for two days. A few grizzles of course, but nothing much.
Traylee - I know nothing about this, but was wondering if S could be upset because of the food. A midwife told me that bubs digestive system can't handle solids so early and it upsets them, so could that be it??
Food - I live for eating and MUST eat every few hours or I get grumpy and shaky, but I do sometimes miss out. If B wakes before me in the morning and I can't get breaky in first, I have a glass of juice while I feed, then eat straight after while he's on his play mat. I have been having hot milo/tea for a snack then lunch is usually leftovers or a jaffle etc when he's napping. Dinner is something easy (e.g I cut everything for a stir fry/casserole etc whenever I have 5 mins spare and make sure I make enough to freeze another batch). I am basically only making stuff I don't have to cut and can eat one-handed so I can do it while I feed! I have also been baking a healthy banana loaf and freezing it in slices so I can just grab one on the run. Fruit is good too!
Sleepy - Glad the test was negative!!
Caplay - Hope M gets better.
AFM - All my antenatal group are having a BBQ tomorrow so hoping it doesn't rain too much. Gotta go, B is after a feed...
By the way, he's starting to fit into some 000 clothes!! Cool but sad at the same time.
-
jleigh na i only gave her food last nioght after all the up brining of milk tokeep it down which seemed to help, cause she had half a bottle with farex and then went to sleep wiht no spewing, appernely it helps with reflux if u use it they have reccomended it to a few friends of mine.
but she has been fine today so i duno what was goin on really, maybe another spurt not sure glad she is sleeping today and eating well, she didnt sleep at all yesterday realy maybe 30mins to 1hr in total since she woke up, but like i said not sure if teething causes it cause she has a few raised bits and a sharp bit at top of mouth on both sides poking threw so i dunno
-
Back to finish my post...
Phoenix - I hope you enjoy your last couple of days with DH. I am much more confident after a week without mine (well, during the day only!), so I know what you mean. I felt so proud of myself that I managed to get out of the house a few times on my own, make tea and even get a little housework done! Still not sure how the mums to more-than-one cope though....
Sleepy and caplay - for you after your horrible-sounding days!
pmccask - It's amazing how energised a good day with our little ones can make us feel, isn't it?
AF - Still nothing here either, which is more than OK by me!
Fontanelles - After reading previous posts, I had to go look at B's. It is definitely more noticeable at some times than at others.
Hope everyone else is looking after themselves and that everyone's bub is sleeping, eating and pooping well, lol! ;)
-
Soft spots - They are meant to be sunken sometimes. But if it is sunken for a very long period of time it means they are dehydrated. But I don't think any of us have anything to worry about. As for the pulsating, it's the veins. Again nothing to worry about.
-
Thanks Sleepy! I will now stop worrying. I never noticed it with T and she had less hair than P!
Traylee - Hope S settles soon. It's awful when they are sad!
Cap - Hopefully it will all settle for you this week with your big kids back at school! I had rough days and I only have one bigger one!
JLeigh - Well done on your first week alone! It gets easier, but you still have days when it's impossible to get anything done and days when you claim it was impossible cause you just couldn't be bothered! lol
Eating - I don't eat as well as I should but does any other breastfeeding mums find that they just don't seem to get full?!
Phoebe has been a bit unsettled, I don't know if it is the reflux? She also seems to prefer feeding from my left breast rather than the right? I don't know whether to go and see my dr again to try the better medication for her. Its sad when she is so upset. I am also trying to sort her clothes. The 0000 are all gone and trying to get the 00 in. She is growing so fast!
-
Marni - Apparently my Dr told me that babies prefer one breast over the other. E prefers my right breast and it appears twice as big. I do however have an inverted nipple on my left breast too. E is really unsettled on my left breast. He pulls and squirms and plays up a bit. But apparently that is also normal. Lol
-
Hi Guys,
I'm trying to catch up (yet again), we've had an interesting week with Kaylee's reflux playing up again, her meds seems to be keeping it at bay at the moment, just.
She's on losec which comes in tablet form...so I have to grind half a tab per day up with water and give it to her, but I've found a chemist that can make it in liquid suspension form, so I'm going to be looking into that tomorrow.
Also, I have just started the journey to relactation (I had let my milk dry up when we switched to formula....which we did cause we thought my milk was causing her reflux)....but, with it starting up again, I know it wasn't the feeding....so...we are trying to give it another shot!
-
evening all
BW - good luck with relactating! I can imagine that would be a tough journey. Fingers crossed things work out for you. When A was little she was on Zoton which also only came in a tablet, but there was one chemist (half an hr drive away) that made it into a suspension and it was so much easier. Hopefully Kaylee won't need the meds for too long.
Swaddling - I've got a qu. Does anyone have a bubbaroo joey pouch? E breaks out of any swaddle I can do and I've been looking into swaddling blankets in an attempt to get her to crack more than one sleep cycle during naps. I'd be interested to hear any opinions on the bubbaroos. A slept on her tummy when she was a baby and so flailing arms was never too much of a problem, but E sleeps on her back.
Boobs - I have one that seems to let down a lot more quickly than the other and as a result E struggles a bit with that side, especially if it's been a while between feeds, but the other seems not to drain fully and feels as though the ducts get a little blocked. They're crazy things!
AFM - we had a bit of a rough night last night with E not waking fully but being a bit unsettled. She's had a rash on her face and it's really started to dry out. I suspect it's itchy because every time she managed to get her hands out of the swaddle she is rubbing her face. Hopefully she's more settled tonight. She's certainly come alive the last 2 weeks though, which I think is contributing to her not resettling during day sleeps, but it's nice that she's more animated now. We've had a fairly busy weekend and have quite a few visitors planned for this week, so fingers crossed both girls behave themselves. The weather in Perth is awful at the moment and I'm going a bit cabin crazy not being able to go for walks. Hopefully the sun comes out soon!
I hope everyone's having a great weekend and have a good week ahead.
-
Pm- swaddling, I too have a houdini! We use an ergo coccoon which is great! Also there is another one which I can't quote remember, if you want the name just let me know, they are zippered suits, they look funny but have been my lifesaver! You can google them! Hope this helps :-)
-
PM - Try the Woombie, Babies Galore also sell a similar one but I can't remember the name of it. You could also google the double wrap. I dont wrap as P sleeps on her belly and I use a GroBag.
Super - Hi! How are you going. I hope going back to work goes well!
BW - Good luck with the relactation. I hope Kaylees reflux settles soon, I think we need to move up from the Zantac too.
I am going to the movies today! I'm a little nervous about leaving Phoebe though, even though I know she will be fine.
-
yea to the reflux issues, i was actualy thikiing about switghing to the s26 anti reflux one but im not sure, she has been good and no brining any really up only spit up, but im still wondering about this play up time in avos, you no the squirming and unsettled ness,
she slept from 8pm till 4.40am this morning so im happy and stil asleep now, but due to wake up soon im guessing :)
-
Hi Marni - we are good, Hunter is back to sleeping through 7pm-630pm/700am with a dreamfeed - so everything is great! :-) Hopefulyl he keeps it up or my return to work will be difficult! Not looking forward to leaving my little man, but my family are so excited to be looking after him it makes me feel a lot better, he will have a fabulous time being spoilt, he really is the apple of not only mine and his daddys eyes but my mum and dad, my nanna and his aunty - all of whom will be looking after him. It has got to the stage if one of them knows I am visiting one of them the others arrange to go over for cuddles too - it is very cute! Although I am no longer important it is all about the little man! :-)
Good job on the woombie - I was trying to remember its name but for the life of me couldnt remember!
I am not sure if Hunter has any reflux issues, I mean sometimes he is really unsettled and I can hear him bringing something up but it doesnt come out (TMI you know when you vomit and get that burning in your throat - thats what I imagine it is) and we have spewing all the time...I think he gets every outfit he is in :-) so most of the time he is in a bib but it ends up on his shorts too. I am thinking of getting some thickener for his formula but will see how I go.
Anyway Hunters sleep time better go! Hi to everyone else :-)
-
Hi everyone, hope you all had a great weekend!
Superstar - Hi, glad to hear things are going well with little H. Good luck on your return to work.
Traylee - Could S be suffering from a bit of colic, that generally starts up in the afternoon with them being unsettled for a few hours. I found infants friends a life saver, A is finally growing out of it and hasn't needed it for nearly a week now.
PM - I've got a houdini too but I started her in a growbag a few nights ago, I tried it a while ago and she wouldn't have a bar of sleeping unwrapped but this time she's sleeping no problems so think wrapping is might be just for the odd nap.
BW - Hello, best of luck with the relactating. How does that work? Hoping you can get the medication in suspension form, would make it so much easier to give to K - don't understand why they would make children/baby medication in tablet form anyway.
Jleigh - It does get easier having them on your own and you'll be suprised what a couple of weeks makes with the development & ability to amuse themselves. Just a couple of weeks ago I couldn't get anything done once A was awake as she needed my constant attention or cuddles but now she loves to sit in her pram or bouncer and just watch whatever I'm doing as I natter away to her. I just take her wherever I am, like hanging out the clothes or in the kitchen while I'm cooking.
Feeding - A prefers my right side, the left side she will feed off mostly but sometimes she can be real fussy and a pain so I swap her just to get the feeding done.
Question for everyone BF'ing - How long do your little ones feed for, most times A will only feed for about 10mins max. She's a real gulper so don't know if she's getting her fix that she needs really quickly. She feeds every 3-4 hours and sleeps right through the night, putting on weight and a generally contented baby so not too worried but just curious as to how long everyone else feeds for.
Someone is fighting their morning nap, better go and see if I can get her to settle so I can have a quick shower :) Have a great day everyone
-
phoenix, yea i use infants friend again every so often
she slept from 8pm till 4.40 this mronign an went back down so that made me happy, lol
-
Hi lovely ladies!
Sorry I have been MIA, our computer blew up so I'm waiting for my new one, goodness knows when we'll have it! So just wanted to pop in, I hope you're all happy and well and I will get on here when I can.
Pheonix - H only feeds for about 10-15 mins these days. She feeds any where between 2-4 hours during the day and is satisfied. I give her both boobs, allowing her to come off when she's done with the first, giving her a good burp (even change her nappy for some extra tummy settling time), then onto the other boob. She is settled and gaining weight, so that a good indication if bub is satisfied and getting enough. T use to prefer my R boob, one thing you do need to be careful of is the left on doing most of the milk making and the right slowing its production down, you will get lop sided and it can be difficult to increse the production again to even things up, thats what I found anyways :)
Take care ladies, I'll be back on when I can! (I'm at the office now, but when I'm here I have to answer phones, serve customers and direct staff, so I do my best to stay off the work computers!!! lol )

B/fing - Boz takes anywhere from 30-40 mins to feed (around 20 mins on the first side). He doesn't seem to prefer one side to the other, but now I'm curious and will have to check!
Unsettled bubs- It is completely normal for babies to have at least one unsettled period each day. Boz usually has his in the afternoon, or if he's tired. I would try not to worry as I don't think any medication will 'fix' it as nothing is really wrong, they're just being babies! Having said that, it doesn't make it any easier to deal with. ;)
Tiff - Hope your computer is fixed soon.
Phoenix - Most of the time B will sit in his bouncer and watch whatever I am doing - it's sooo much easier and heaps more fun for me than when he needed constant cuddles. I actually quite enjoy singing/talking/dancing with him!
SSM - Re: bringing up stuff but nothing there, B does the same (it sounds horrible!). I was worried for a while it could have been silent reflux, but it doesn't seem to worry him and he has no acid smell on his breath. Does Hunter?
pmc - Not sure if this is the same as what everyone else suggested, but one mum at mother's group uses a wrap thingie that has velcro so bub is secured. Sounds good. BTW - when one mum at the group said she doesn't wrap her bub, the nurse got all uppity and spent 10 mins telling us how important it is to wrap bubs until they lose their startle reflex. I mean, she went off!!
BW - Hope you get your milk back OK. Would love to hear how it all works...
Question - How is everyone going with their bubs and tummy time? How often do you do it and for how long? And how is bubs doing? B doesn't seem all that keen and I get about 2 mins max before he grizzles. We try almost every awake time. I do think he's getting better though.
BTW - I put a couple of photos of Boz on my BB album if you want to check them out!
AFM - Poor Boz had a mixed up arvo yesterday. He went down for a sleep about 5pm but instead of waking at about 5:50pm, slept right through. We woke him at 6:45pm for a bath, but he was fast asleep and I think would have slept through the night. He was soooooo upset when DH woke him and just bawled hysterically while we changed him. He calmed for his shower but bawled again when I was drying him. Surprisingly, he calmed down and slept from 7:45pm - 5am, then went back to bed and slept 'til 8:45am! He NEVER goes back down for longer than 1 hour (if at all) after he wakes from his long sleep, but has done 3 out of the last 4 days. Today he's only had two little naps though (is still having his second one now).

Seems A had her unsettled time early today.......she was a cranky early this arvo and wouldn't settle but she has finally admitted defeat and gone down for a nap - hope she still sleeps tonight as we have to be up and out the house at 6.30 tomorrow morning to get DH to airport. I must admit I am so glad she's grown out of the colic , there was nothing worse than seeing her in so much pain and not being able to do anything until she passed all the backed up wind.
SSM - A does that gagging/half vomit thing too, I can hear it come half up but like Boz, it doesn't seem to bother her except for the funny face she pulls at the taste.
JLeigh - Can't believe the nurse got so worked up over someone not wrapping their bub, I figure whatever suits the baby and if they have no sleeping issues don't see what the problem would be.
Oh well nap time didn't last that long.

Well, it appears Mr Hunter is ready not to be wrapped, today he actually broke the zipper on his swaddle and it is stuffed. I have another one but when I put him down for bed tonight he was struggling to get his hands out so I unzippered it and am hoping for the best. I dont actually have a sleeping bag in his size (I have 2 6months plus) so I will go tomorrow and grab one. He has been down an hour and not a peep - maybe it is going to be easier than I thought. Mind you I still have it on unzippered so if he stirs early in the morning I will be back in there to zip him up. The midwife at our clinic actually told me I would have issues with stopping swaddling but it appears she is wrong. He also did 2 sleeps today without it, ok one it was actually on but when I went in to check on him after an hour and a half sleeping (usually he stirs after one sleep cycle and I hear him settle himself (on a good sleep) or I have to go resettle by patting) and found the zipper busted completely and his socks off, he must have been struggling hard in his sleep lol.
I dont think there is any acid smell, so I think I just have a normal unsettled bub...thankfully the other 22 hours of the day he is a happy little boy. Cant believe he is 10 weeks old tomorrow.

scarlet hates being wrapped, she has pretty much since like 3 days old, we just put blanket up to her chest just above belly button, but under her arms, and she seems happier, if you put it higher she pushes and fusses till it off lol
im hoping she wakes soon for a nother feed before real bed time, her last feed was at 5, she is asleep in troys bed lol so prolly wont wake for a bit lol

Morning All
BFeeding - Elijah has feeds every 3 or so hours during the day. He feeds for about 10 minutes on one side, i usually burp him, then change his bum, then offer himt he other side. Most of the time he takes it, and has 5-10 minutes as well. He is sleeping thru the night again - phew thank goodness! He stopped after his needles, but I also think that had something to do with the pillow. I took it away about the same time, but I gave it back to him last night, and he slept thru. He is alseep now too, enjoying his sleep more with it. He also has a big sleep only once during the day, which is after lunch time, usually for 2 hours or so. Then cap naps until bed time.
Wrapping - I still wrap E in a bunny rug everyday, but leave his hands out. He doesn't like his hands being inside the rug. Plus I think it keps him warmer. I do have to look for the sleeping bags I have, see if one will fit him now...I can't remember..lol
ASM - We are coping quite well, still is a bit of an effort to get out of the house, especially when I'm tired. But we are getting there. I'm glad school is back, and it's good because E woke at 6.40, and my alarm was set for 7am, so it worked out well...enough time to feed one side, then burp and change bum before I had to get the others up. It's always good when I do most things in the evening before bed, makes it easier for me in the mornings. Plus I love my slow cooker! Sooo easy then when it comes to dinner time!
Does anybody else's boobs still hurt when they fill up? The "let down" feeling? Mine do some times, but seem to get worse when E sleeps thru! Thank goodness it doesn't last long!
-
Feeding - Phoebe generally feeds 3-4 hourly through the day. Sometimes a little more often but I try not to let her go any longer. She is normally finished feeding in 20mins tops. Effecient little bubba! Sleepy, I definatley get the let down pain. Makes me fold my arms over my boobs!
Sleep - Phoebe normally has a big sleep in the morning and arvo and cat naps in the middle. She sleeps most of the night though. Normally only wakes once to feed if that. The last 2 nights we have just popped the dummy back in and she has gone to sleep though! We don't wrap, she has grobags that I put her in though and she sleeps on her belly, just refuses to settle on her back.
Tummy time - She loves it! But she isn't a fan of laying on her back. She is also pushing herself up on her arms to have a look around too! JLeigh - Maybe try rolling towel up and putting it under his arms so he is propped a bit or let him have tummy time on your chest? He may like lying on you and watching you more?!
SSM - He really doesnt want to be wrapped anymore!
Hi to all mummies, hope you are having a great day!
-
Oh yeah tummy time. E loves it. He also is pishing himself up to look around. He even lifted his legs the other day. He talks and plays then likes his dummy and just lies there on his belly for ages. Sometimes even falls asleep there. But if he does get upset I just move him to his bouncer chair for a while.
-
Tummy time - I probably don't give her as much as I should but her favourite position when I'm carrying her around is up looking over my shoulder, which the nurse said is the equivanlent plus she gets some every night when she gets a massage (if she's not throwing a tanty about being naked), am going to try some time on the fit ball to see if she likes that.
oh she must know as soon as I get on here to post...........BBL
