    HAPPY NEW YEAR GIRLS!

I didn't make midnight but was up at 1.30 am feeding, does that count? hee hee

We had a quiet night, dinner at the in-laws for DH's birthday and came home about 10.30 pm. I did lose my nipple shield at their house though so not happy, managed to feed ok through the night without it but Amelia definitely feeds better with them cause she's used to them now, woops. Will have to go see if I can find another one, assuming the chemists sell them.....I got my other one in the hospital!

Hope you all had lovely nights and hi Telly, great to hear from you!

Hi JDs mum, I love the name of your doggie, Elvis, that's so cute! What sort of doggie? I have 2 staffies, Nugget and Molly, my other babies. Nugget is 14 in March and Molly has just turned 9.

    Hi Girls,'

Im also with you too Natty and Telly, I dont have any formula in the house. I wasnt too keen on BF this time around cause I had such a bad time feeding DS, but as with everything else, this time is different and I am really enjoying it.
Someone mentioned that one of their breasts didnt feel 'as full' as the other one anymore, but that is normal. Your breasts dont always have that full feeling because, when you first start feeding your baby your breasts make too much milk until your body works out how much your baby needs. Once that happens they wont have that hard full feeling unless you dont feed for ages.

We had a very unexciting NYE. We did watch the fireworks on TV but that was only cause I was feeding Ruby, otherwise I think we would have already been in bed! Our DD1 has been staying at my mums since Boxing Day so Dh and I have done up her room. We have re painted it, put up new curtains, got her a double bed with new bedding and DH has made her side tables and draws. She is going to be SO excited when she comes home on Sunday. Im excited thinking about her reaction! I think she will cry

I cant wait til Ruby works out the difference between night and day. She has a period of about 2 hours where she is awake during the night but wont just lie in her bassinette, she wants to be occupied. Do you think it will be worth trying to keep her awake during the day, or will she just get too tired and cranky?

    Happy New Years Lovelies

Hi Ubba and Telly, remember back in our belly buddies group, one of you and I had a discusion about bf? Well it really got me thinking and I thought I couldnt knock what I hadnt tried and now I am fiercely defending my decision to all who dares question me about it lol...I seriously thought Id have a lot more support for bf IRL but all I get is comments "oh are you feeding again?" "She shouldnt need to eat again surely?" I just want to yell at them and say we have this sorted it is none of your business how much she feeds...It has even been suggested that the feeding is causing bellyaches which I have said "If she is not hungry she will not drink" so there...I hope I'm right lol...and I actually might start a thread in the bf section about it...just to make sure...

So all of you who are ff maybe we should swap and everyone can get of my case! grr lol..

JDs mum how funny are dogs with firecrackers!! Nikki our bordercollie ran into the glass door the other night poor thing we couldnt appreciate the funny side as V was crying at the time lol...I hear you on the constant BF isnt it tiring? Do you miss the tired signs or does she just want to stay up? m finding it hard to distinguish but its getting a bit easier now...Did I mention how CUTE Abbey is??

Hi Alison, yep I think it counts lol...Alison maybe you can ring the hossy and ask what brand the shield was there are lots of types...and sizes it might help on your search..

    Hi Everyone else!!!

A friend of mine came over with her 2 kids last night and we discovered that nothing will ever go according to plan ever again lol...we ate late, her kids whinged, mine wouldnt sleep and we watched the fireworks then called it a night !!!! NOT what I imagined back in my youth haha....

Oh I got "Buzz" on PS3 for Chrissy only because we got the playstation for free on promotion but the game is cool as, at least its something you can play but leave if you need to and its fun for a group of 4 its just a quiz game so nothing too tchnical and dh and I were playing this morning it was a nice moment, anyway....

Hi Ubba - not sure what to do re the sleeping issue at night, I'm having the same during the day at the moment, Amelia just doesn't want to go down, I'm getting nothing done as I have to keep picking her up! Grrrrr. Wonder if it's a growth spurt?!

Hi Heavenly - couch sounds great, if it's free even better!

Hi Natty - I love that Buzz game hee hee, we played Wii Sports kids vs adults on Christmas Night and we won, was quite hilarious!

tellytubby - I would be excited too if Abbey slept for 7 hours straight - what a dream!!! Theo must be a good baby!!! Hope he keeps it up for you....

Alison1973 - I ended up buying a couple of shields from the hospital when I left....it was easier than scouring around the chemists for one - have you contacted the hospital to see if you could get another?? I was visiting my Granmda in her nursing home the other day and fed Abbey whilst we were there and left my shield in it's little container behind on her nightstand...I didnt realise til about 1/2 an hour after we were home and got into a panic cause I thought she might throw it out not realising what is was (and her minds not completely there either) so rang the staff to see if they could pick it up and put it at the front counter and DH went and got it...they probably thought I was a mad woman calling up in a frenzy about a nipple shield!! But I'd be lost without it!
Elvis is a blue cattle dog...he's about 8 years old and we have a red one as well called Bella...she usually freaks out with the fireworks and runs around the place but we didnt see her last night so I think she hid in the shed....they are quite mental these dogs...I feel sorry for them though cause they were my babies 2 years ago and were inside all the time and went to the beach every Sunday morning and now they have really dropped down in the priority order in the house so I have to work on that for their sake!

nattyfred - I dont know about the tired signs, I can usually tell....I dont think she was really tired on Wed for some reason, just wanted to feed all the time...she doesnt throw it up or anything so I'm assuming she wants it...sometimes though I'm probably lazy and instead of walking around with her or bouncing her on the ball that we have I just put her on the boob and hope she drops off to sleep and then put her down...funny about your dog, that would have been hilarious if V werent kicking up a stink....her and Abbey look very much alike so they are both cuties : )

My best friend from school has been back home for the past week and popping over and visiting and I think I'm putting her off getting married and having kids by living in this madhouse!!!! I think she thinks it's all a bit mental with JD screaming around the joint and me sitting on the lounge with my boobs out watching him trash the place...definitely didnt imagine myself doing this 10 years ago!!! Wouldnt change it for the world though even when I'm pulling my hair out!!

Abbey is sleeping very well today so I'm pretty scared about tonight...hope she doesnt feel like partying cause I certainly dont! : )-

Hi JDsMum - re your doggies, ours are the same, they've always been my babies and whilst they are still allowed inside (they're staffies) and we are trying to keep things like they were before you can't help but not give them as much attention hey. They've only been for 2 walks since Amelia was born, poor things. Luckily the boy is too old and can't walk far anyway so we tend to kick the soccer ball to Molly and that tires her out enough. She was very much a "daddy's girl" before though and DH doesn't give her the same attention as before so I've told him to make more of an effort ha ha. Oh and I found some nipple shields at the chemist, phew! Not the Medela brand like I got at the hospital but the Avent brand. Will give them a go and if they're crap I've got afternoon tea at the hospital on Tuesday for all the girls who had babies around the week I did so I will ask the lactation consultant for more then. I should've bought more than 1 but wasn't expecting to become so reliant on them! Your story of retrieving them from your Grandma's nursing home was funny, I'd have done the same. I was in a mad panic last night when I realised I lost it at DH's mum and dads. I was scouring the pavement in the dark trying to find it without having to outloud say to his dad that I was looking for my nipple shield, how embarrassing!

Well, Amelia is finally asleep after seriously being awake from lunch time until 6.00 pm! I hope she sleeps well tonight! Although it's been 3 hours since her last feed but I hate to wake her after only 1.5 hours so I might leave it a bit and not worry about my routine for now, I will let her wake up and let me know when she's hungry again!

Jd's mum - i'm pretty much like you too, i find it easier just to flop a boobie out and put theo on, hoping he'll fall asleep that way. I know they say not to let them get used to it but i really couldn't give a hoot. DD fell asleep that way until she was 12 months and it didn't bother me.

haha iknow what you mean about living in a mad house too. Our homes sound very similar! toys EVERYWHERE and a very cranky mum glued to a couched with a baby attached to a boob. My mum actually bought dd a toy megaphone yesterday.... .... i'm sure you can visualise how peaceful and serene my house is now, hahaha. how old is jd? i don't think my sister will ever have kids, i've scared her too much, haha.

alison glad you got a new nipple shield, hope it works well for you. I've never used one, so i have no idea what they even look like - but i'm now assuming they're hard to find in a dark place? hahaha. love the new photos of amelia on fb - such a cutie.

mon sounds nice having an outdoor area, wish we had some place like that. i tried to turn the shed into somehting similar but it didn't really work, dh's tools and crap have taken over, and its just very much a man shed. I actually get in trouble if i hang washing in there because "it looks too womanly" ... yet he's happy to wwear the clean clothes! men!

natty i remember having the bfing discussion with you, and asking you to give it a go before you say its not for you, hehe. I'm glad you gave it a go, and i'm glad it is for you I know what you mean about people saying comments about v being on the boob, irritating mil made a similar comment the other day "every time i see this boy he's attached the boob".. argh.. shut up beartch, stop talking to me! haha ah i cant stand that woman. I don't really have any advice, just your her mum and you know whats best. maybe head over to the bfing threads and ask them, they're awesome when it comes to the bfing advice. x

i've been getting so irritated lately. like reallly reallly bad pms. is anyone else like this or am i a weirdo? everything is driving me nuts, i feel like i could kick dh in the shin and laugh with pleasure.. bahahahahahaha. he's driving me insane. he doesn't do anything, and if he does you'd swear he deserves a nobel prize the way he carries on. think i might go shopping today and spend money, as his punishment. no idea what i'm punishing him for, i just am. See?? is this attitude normal??

    love ya all xx

    Hi Girls!

Hi Telly - thanks for your lovely comments about my piccies. And yep, I think it's our hormones, I've been having little bouts of pms type outbursts LOL. Like you Mon I get annoyed when DH sleeps period, let alone sleeps in ha ha. He naps on the couch in the arvos which I know I could do but once Amelia goes to sleep I have other things to do! Then during the night when I'm sitting in bed with Amelia attached to my boob and I'm dog tired and cranky and he's lying there snoring I swear I could punch him in the face and enjoy it. ha ha. This morning he had to go to one of his jobs for the morning so I didn't even get my bottle feed out of him while I slept, grrr! Although, I did end up feeding Amelia lying down in bed (bf) and kind of slept while she fed so didn't get out of bed until 8.30am. Men, they just DO NOT get it it!

Hi Tygress - Happy New Year to you too, hope you had a lovely time at your parents place.

    Hi to everyone else.

    Hi Everyone,

Tygress- Hi! Hope you had a great Chrissy and New Year. How have you been?

Telly- I have been irritated with DH too but because he is on holidays and I am sick of seeing him all day every day! I know it sounds bad because he is being such a great help - getting up to Ruby to bring her to me for night feeds, taking our other kids out so I only have to deal with Ruby, cooking tea some nights, taking Ruby for a walk around the shops while I spend an hour in the chang rooms and he has painted our DD1's room and made side tables and a chest of draws too - maybe I am being selfish but its nice to have a break from him too. Plus he always come out with a smart ass comment when I am trying to be serious. When he goes back to work in a couple of weeks I will be complaining that he wont be here haha.

Alison- I LOVE feeding lying down, I do it that way every night for the middle of the night feed and usually for the 6 am feed cause Ruby goes straight to sleep and I usually do too. I put her back in her bed after the middle of the night feed but leave her in our bed for the 6am one.

JD- Are you on facebook? Look me up if you want to add me - Rebecca Ozols

    Hi everyone else!

Hi Girls - OMG I think I'm going to scream! Yesterday and today Amelia will NOT sleep during the day, she's crying unless I hold her and I can't get anything done! She's sleeping fine at night, what on earth is going on!!!!!! I can't get anything done and I don't know what's wrong with her!

Man...I am having sooo much trouble giving up my chocolate....it's my one true weakness...I'm trying to ration it so it doesnt give Abbey wind but I still think it's doing it to her...I need a soft serve machine installed in the house if I cant have chocolate I've decided...I need something!

I was completely right about my night last night, didnt really want to sleep anyway thanks Abbey - I've got loads of energy to keep on going 24/7 NOT! God, it was nearly every hour I reckon...In the end I ended up sleeping sitting up on the lounge with her on my chest...I dont know how my neck isnt broken after doing that...hopefully not the same tonight..DH is working this weekend and then as normal through the week so it's going to be a long and trying one I feel...

tellytubby - JD is just over 2 and a half now and I hope he's going through the 'Terrible 2's' cause if he's like the way he's being now all the time I dont know how I'll cope....he screams and yells all the time for no reason, doesnt listen to a word I say which just ends up with me going off at him and then more screaming and tears from him...my mum and I went down to the shops with him and Abbey this morning and never again...I chased the little bugger from the front to the back of Best & Less and then he wailed and carried on screaming for Ma (my mum) like I was the Wicked Witch of the West or something and the rest of the morning pretty much followed on like that. I have told him that he is never going to the shops again with me and dragged him home. Little poophead. Check out my pic's on FB of the lounge room - he know's I cant get to him and goes ballistic when I'm feeding Abbey...the other day he dragged a stool from the kitchen straight past me and into his room, climbed up and pulled his closet apart throwing clothes everywhere...arrrrggghhhh!

My DH drives me insane sometimes too...I know he works heaps etc but I'm still sitting up half the night on the lounge like a zombie and looking after the kids all day...I think he thinks I've got it pretty cruisey compared to him...and nothing is ever his fault, there's always something/one else (usually me!) to blame and I could punch him in the face too....I think we are all quite normal!

Ubba82 - Have added you on FB!

Hi girls.......I have a very unsettled little girl yesterday and today, she is sleeping fine at night but won't sleep during the day and won't stop crying unless I hold her. I don't know what's wrong with her! It's starting to stress me out!

Alison, am going through the same thing with James at the moment, and like you it is stressing me out.... I haven't hardly managed to get off the damn couch with him all day.... I have just put him down in his bassinet 2 hours after his last feed and now I can hear him again..... so frustrating.
I think my hormones are still all over the place too cos I at times I feel so useless and close to tears. Also have starting bleeding heavily again so not sure what is going on there.

Ubba - I've been ok, ups and downs really... hopefully things will even out over the next few weeks. What about you?

OMG I'm so jealous of you all who can BF your bubs. I'd love to not have to be stuffing around with bottles and formula etc after all this time the most I have managed to express is 40mls in one sitting.
Being at my folks was good for my Mum's support, I'd get up with James around 6am and she would take him so I could go back to bed which was divine.
I'm with you all about DH sleeping during the nights, it is so annoying that he can sleep while James is screaming while I'm trying to warm up his bottle etc... but I guess I'm going to have to get used to it when he goes back to work on Monday. I'm a bit worried about how I'm going to cope, but I guess I just will.

We have another clinic appointment on Monday, can't wait to see how much weight James has put on, he has really filled out a bit in the last couple of weeks which is great to see!!

Just wondering does this feeling of being completely out of your depth get better??
Hats off to you girls who have more than one bub, I truly do not know how you do it!!!!
