Hi Tygress welcome back! just click on one of our tickers it will take you to the website I have never expressed bore than 50ml cos im too scared ill run dry for the next feed lol but i doubt id get much more, sometimes i worry but V is getting chubby so it must be the full fat variety lol...I guess one good thing about ff is they drink it fast...

Alison and Tygress, I think V and I had the same thing as you where they are really clingy and I am just now starting to be able to put her down, it must be a developmental stage r something...plus they love you best right now which is sweet but frustrating too...

Shayna I saw on fb you had another crap night sorry to hear it. Id like to say it gets better but I dont want to hex myself..Everytime I brag she is getting better she turns into a little psycho

Ubba I love feeding in bed too, Vs 11pm feed I try to feed then put her in her bed but Ive been falling asleep lol..The early morning one she usually stays so we can sleep longer...I cheated today I really wanted a sleep so I lay down with her and got a feed and 3 hours sleep in yeah! Im scared shell get too used to it tho...

Lol Telly I think you and I would be great friends irl! You crack me up!.. Another here thats a fan of punching dh in the fce lol...Imagine how quick they would wake lol...

Heavenly, I love the game you need the buzzers too but as you say it is way cheaper with ps2, we got a bundle but im going to use a voucher I got for kk for some other ones i think there is music, film and tv and some other themes The couch sounds good too zI like the modular ones you can change them around to suit your mood lol.

Hi Tygress - grrr isn't it frustrating! Amelia has been more settled this arvo, we took her out for a couple of hours but evidently I topped her up with formula first and it did the trick. Don't stress re FF'ing, BF'ing isn't all it's cracked up to be! I can't keep up with her demand so have to FF in between anyway. Like you, I can only express about 40ml at a time too! We just do what we have to huh! As for bleeding, my subsided about 4 days ago now, when I BF I still get some discharge (sorry TMI) but that's it, I'm even contemplating swimming in my sister's pool tomorrow, it's going to be 39 degrees in Perth tomorrow! Have you been doing too much as I read that can bring on heavier bleeding? Oh and like Natty says, formula feeding is much quicker, when you BF you feel like you're doing it all friggin day ha ha!

Natty's right, click on one of our tickers and it will take you to the Lilypie website so you can create your own.

We'll get there mate, we're all doing the best we can and I think we're all doing great, good days/bad days, we'll get better as we go along ha ha.

    xx

hi to everyone alse... how are all your bubbas coping with the hot weather??

    How did everyone's night go?

James spent from 3.00-4.15am in bed with us.... something I said I never would do!!!

Then we were up again at 6:30am. He is now sleeping in my arms, will stay settled when I put him down for about 10 minutes then back in the arms again!!

    DH is STILL sleeping!!! Grrrrrr

Are you still swaddling your bubs in the heat? James likes to be wrapped up tight but the poor little mite gets so sweaty even in just a nappy and muslin wrap...

Hi guys - gee I feel like I've been missing in action for ages - just never seem to get time to sit and read everyone's posts!!!

Hope everyone had an awesome new years, we didn't do anything, we were up at midnight thanks to DD2, and then again at 3am, and then 6am! So lucky I only had a couple of beers that night and didn't really need sleep or anything!

Tygress - DD2 now sleeps on her belly, so no swaddling for us. The first time we put her on her belly she slept for 5 hours straight, so we are sticking to it!! lol... she went from 5pm to 10pm (when we woke her up for a feed) and then slept till 5am - so um yeah - belly sleeping rocks in this house!! My other two were belly sleepers though, so its not surprising that the 3rd child is.

Oh - and yes I know its against SIDS recommendations, but we have a breathing monitor so we're not too concerned about anything happening - plus she can raise her head and put it in the other direction - which is a big thing.

DD2 was a bit unsettled yesterday, found it hard to get her to stay asleep, but once she was asleep we got a good hour or two out of her. I think they are just waking up a bit more and seeing the world is pretty scary for them, so just want their mumma's comfort. Thank god I have DH here so I don't have to have her strapped to me all day - I have packing and cleaning to do (which reminds me, I should get off my butt and do some cleaning since most of the kitchen stuff is all packed up in boxes ready to go!)

I said to DH just before that I think the leap from 1 child to having 2 is actually harder than the jump from 2 -3. Sure you are busier, and never have time to scratch your butt or pee - but in terms of kids behaviour and settling in I think its much easier! This was my theory to DH - when you go from 1 to 2, #1 has to learn how to share their parents, and its a HUGE adjustment. Although when #3 comes along, #1 and #2 are used to sharing their parents, so its not that much of an adjustment for them - cos they have already been doing it!

Well thats my theory anyway, I'm finding the adjustment period better than when I had DD1 - that was hard.

Better go clean or something I suppose - sorry I didn't address everyone I forget what everyone has said. But to those feeling guilty about any way they are parenting - DON'T - cos in a couple of years time - it ain't gonna matter

i found going from 2-3 harder cos mally never minded when niesha came and its easy to coordernate 2 for naps but not 3

tygress have you tried swaddling with the arms out they say from around 6 weeks its easier cause they have less of those jerky arm movements that wake them and bub might not get as hot that way

    Hi Girls!

We had a good night, the usual 3 hourly routine which is good after the last couple of unsettled days! I've just read in one of my books that they can go through a growth spurt at about 5 weeks and need more food so I am wondering if that's what Amelia is going through. I cant put her down without crying as we speak! She goes to sleep in my arms or on my lap and as soon as I put her down she wakes up. She's also definitely more hungry and I'm having to top her BF feeds up with a little bit of formula as she's still hungry. Oh well, will just have to ride with it for now I guess. At least she's settled during the night so far, that's something!

Off to my sister's this arvo for a swim as it's 39 degrees in Perth today! I let the dogs out when I was up feeding at 2.30 am this morning and it was already warm then! Inside with the aircon at the moment so haven't ventured out yet.

Hi Tygress - I'm still swaddling Amelia but I'm using either a light muslin wrap (some of the ones I've got are stiff and thick and I don't like them) but mostly use a wrap from Pumpkin Patch, it's lovely soft cotton. We have aircon though so it's about 21 degrees in the room so not hot. She sleeps in a singlet and nappy at the moment. They said to check if their neck feels quite sweaty than they are too hot...the heat is a big SIDS factor they say.

Hi Arimeh - re the tummy thing, my sisters kids all slept on their tummy's too. Amelia doesn't like sleeping on her back so we put her on her side, apparently another no no as they can roll onto their tummy but she never has. The nurse at the hospital said as long as you swaddle them with the arm on the side they are laying out it will prevent them from rolling. Like you we have a monitor too. All the SIDS things are just preventative, they really don't know exactly what causes it. Amelia doesn't like being on her tummy for long so I doubt she'd sleep like that without crying anyway. Even tummy time is only for about 5 or 10 mins as she gets cranky after a while ha ha.

I put ruby to sleep on her side too, she just settles so much better although I havnt yet tried her on her tummy yet, DH, myself and the other 2 kids sleep on their tummies so, like you Arimeh, it would make sense if Ruby did too. She loves to lie on our chest too and often falls asleep that way. We dont have a monitor but she can lift and move her head.

Tygress- Nice work on the ticker! Glad you worked it out ok

Yeah DS doesn't have a nap anymore and hasn't for about a year, so I guess its easier for me cos its still only 2 naps to co-ordinate

Hi Ubba - Amelia loves lying on DH's chest too and that's the only time she'll sleep on her tummy! They do that every night after tummy time. I reckon it's cause they can hear the heart beat.

pmsl.. I think I've had maybe 2 day naps in 3 years.. ROFL...

And yes, 3 kids - only got 2 hands!! Someone always has to wait..

Alison - I reckon you're right about the heartbeat.. plus it would smell all nice for them and be awfully warm...

Ubba - yeah we figured she would love sleeping on her belly because she loves tummy time on our chests as well, and always settles well in the middle of the night if I put her on my chest.

At the moment DH has her in the Bubba Moe (she is sleeeeping) which I am actually selling, so lucky I haven't sold it yet cos he couldn't be bothered going downstairs and getting the close carrier out of the car... lol..lucky I've got a mei tai coming to me I suppose.. hehehehe

Hey Mel - Loving your new avvy - very nice! I just bought myself a close carrier, hope it is right for us!

Heavenly- I was shatterred when DS stopped having day sleeps - and I didnt even have any babies to look after lol, I still didnt have enough hands!

Alison- You are right with the heartbeat theory, it reminds the babies of being in the womb

AFM- Ruby has been awake ALL day! Well from 9am til 4.30pm. I fed her, burped her, changed her rocked, cuddled and wraped her. She would fall asleep in my arms but as soon as I put her down she was awake again. I got sick of going back and forth to give her the dummy that it was easier to get her up. The of course I was stuck on the couch cause she wanted a boob again.
My mum arrived and took Ruby off me and of course she slept, then mum put her in her bed and she slept for the next hour.....of course!!
She woke up after I had my dinner, had a feed and mum rocked her off again and put her back to bed, shes still asleep now, just hoping she sleeps tonight.

Hope you all have a fab night!!!

Yeah Sterla did it - awesome huh!! You'll love the Close Carrier, its so comfy and not painful whatsoever - and Eden falls asleep in it immediately - so I like that

I hope Ruby sleeps for you tonight - she might surprise you and do a sleep through

Does anyone give their baby water? My Mum suggested it when I told her how unsettled James has been and how hot its been. I know if they are BF they say don't need water but what about FF??

Hi Tygress, BF babies dont need water but FF babies do. Make sure it has been boiled and cooled before you give it to him.
