Hi Miss Magpie - wow Trent sounds like a lovely growing boy. I think I have a girl like that, she likes her food! I'm half bf'ing and half formula feeding these days - mostly top ups, do you do both or just formula? I'm past feeling guilty as it keeps her happy. I was wondering though if it would bring on ovulation/AF earlier, I'm still mostly bf'ing though, pretty much every feed but one, some times two. Good luck with the hearing thing for Trent, you have reminded me to book in for Amelia's free hearing test, must do that tomorrow! I'm sure Trent will be fine. I can't believe he's 2 months already, wow time flies huh! Amelia has just started properly smiling, can't wait till she's doing it all the time too!

    Hi Girls!!

Thanks for all your support....it's so hard sometimes isnt it?

I have now got some Infants Friend which we did use for JD but I cant remember if it worked or not so we'll see how it goes....how do you give stuff like that to your babies?? She spat it out when I gave it to her straight so I put it in with some boiled water and she drank most of that and tried the same this morning but wont take it now....I'll try it again before her next feed and she might be hungry enough that she'll just drink it....

Poor DH last night...after finally getting her to sleep after hours of her being up, napping for 20 mins then up again I went to bed at about 10 and then he stayed up watching TV and she must have woken up sometime after that and I just couldnt get up I was that pooped....next thing I remember is waking up at 1:40am and he was still sitting on the lounge with her...I was mortified!! I feel so guilty with him being up all that time and me sleeping when he's working 2 jobs...anyway, I fed her and she went back down until nearly 7am....with us both on the lounge though...god I'm going to die on that thing!

Geez...she's awake again now - been up since 7am just got her down and I can see her arms and legs flapping around!!! GOD!!!

Sorry no personals....will come back later fingers crossed and finish this!!

Hope everyones bubba's are behaving! Not like mine!!

Hi Shayna - Oh my goodness, poor DH! Although not your fault, I have had those moments where I've been that exhausted I can't even utter words, that's when the formula comes out for DH! I hope the Infants Friend helps so you both can have some reprieve soon.

I am having good nights but not as good days, Amelia just does not want to sleep and she just cries unless someone is holding her, grrrr. But, in saying that, last night she slept a long one again, nearly 6 hours so I think I'll sacrifice the days for the nights. It's just that I can't get off the couch during the day and my back and shoulders and arms are so sore and tired from holding her. I think I might have to start wearing the Baby Bjorn around the house, or get another type of sling for around the house, any suggestions on one that's easy and not too hot to wear. I have shoulder and neck issues so can't have anything that's going to be put strain on my muscles.

I've got afternoon tea at the hospital this afternoon, although it's super hot in Perth so not overly looking forward to getting her in and out of the car. Not to mention I'll have to lift the pram in and out of the car and I'm not supposed to until next week. Hmmm.

    Hi Ladies!

OMG i think i might have mastitis!!!! My left boob is killing me! It feels like there is a lump behind the nipple and it is really sore there and under the nipple! It is killing me to feed on that side...
I think i might ring the ABA for some advice cos i'd hate for it to get worse.

    Sorry for the 'me' post

    Have a great day

Oh Kymmy I hope you dont have mastitis, have heard its VERY painful.

Alison - I too would sacrifice the days for a good nights sleep! I think a sling is a MUST in your situation so you can get some things done during the day. Speaking of heat, its going to warm up here in Melbourne towards the end of the week, not looking forward to it. I am now fully formula feeding Trent. I gave up bfeeding on Christmas Eve. Felt really guilty and sad about it but now I know it was the best decision for both me and Trent as now we have more "playtime" whereas before it was all feeding.

JDsmum - you poor thing! The same has happened to me with my DP. They are trying to do the right thing but its awful when you know they will be up in a few hours for work. But when you are so exhausted, sometimes these things happen. With the infacol I give Trent I used to use the syringe and inject it into his mouth (which he didnt like!) I now mix it in with his formula.

AFM - well Trent started ROLLING this morning I had him on his play mat for his "tummytime" while I made breakfast. When I came back a few minutes later, he was on his back, I was like what the?!?!? So I put him back on his tummy in and no time at all, he flipped himself over again, lol He definately prefers being on his back as he can see more and now that he can flip himself over from his tummy to his back, I guess tummy time is OVER, hehe My clever little man

Am taking him to get his first lot of immunisation tonight. Not looking forward to it :-( Have heard they scream when they inject them and then they are very unsettled afterwards. I have baby panadol on hand as I have heard this helps to settle them down. I hate it when he cries with wind pain let alone needles :-(

    Take care girls,
    Tania

Hey ladies, i have been reading but having a real hard time trying to post, probably the reason why my posts are always halfarsed.

miss magpie my gosh he is rolling!!!! wahoo!! What a clever little man! i remember kaili was rolling early too, (although not that early), and when i told the middies they didn't believe me! grrr. Thats great news, before you know it he'll be sitting up Gosh these babies need to stop bloody growing!!! i want them to be little for as long as possible hehe

ALison i hope you enjoyed your afternoon tea. We had playgroup this morning and it was very hot too. breastfeeding theo under the mum's house with absolutely no wind, i almost died!!! and you know how they're like a hot little waterbottle at the best of times, gee i swealtered. i hope youre ok getting the pram in and out, take it easy remember!! a friend of mine pulled her stitches out last week from doing too much, so its definately possible! and i bet very painful.

kymmy mon is right, nice hot shower and massage the lump, heat packs, and see your dr. I had mastitis with kaili and faaarrr out it bloody hurts!!!! i hope it clears up for you asap! glad archie is sleeping well, cosleeping is grand! haha, i let theo have his main sleep in his cot, then early hours of the morning i put him in with me and we both sleep great (well, me not so much - but him definately! haha). I know we'll both regret our decisions later on when we can't get them OUT of our bed, haha, but we'll just deal with that when the time comes hey! I was like you too, i remember with kaili my bleeding had stopped, and i had already had my first period when i went for my 6 week check up! sucks doesn't it! you hear of these women getting lucky with no period for 6 months or so - and you're still getting monthly! argh! Haven't gotten mine yet this time round, so fingers crossed it'll stay that way for a while.

JDs mum, with Kaili we had marina.. something? totally forget the name. But the only way i could get her to have it, was to squirt it down the back of her throat with srynige (sp?) thingo! I know that sounds terrible, but i had a lot of troubles, and it worked well - because obviously she had no choice in the matter. I would time it well tho, make sure she took a breath and then bam! squirt! she would cry becuase it gave her a bit of a fright - i hope this helsp!

Tygress i hope everything works out well with the retained placenta. They would obviously have to put you under a general to remove it? would definately explain the milk supply. If it is that, and they remove it, would you then be able to begin bfing again (if you wanted) ? just curious thats all.

Hey billy! hope everythings goin well!

AFM - i've been really organised these past two days, which is making me feel great! The only thing is i'm sacrificing my sleep, hahaha. always one or the other! TOnight i've made a chicken lasagne, hope it tastes good, and more importantly i hope the tomato base doesn't upset my little man.

went to the clinic yesterday and had theo weighed etc. He put on 600 grams in two weeks, which i'm stoked about, and he has also grown 8.5cm since birth! woohoo! The midwife is saying he's going to be a tall guy, as both his arms and legs are quite long and lanky. His sister is also a tall girl, she's in the 90 percentile.

anyway, i've gotta book him in for his needles (he's 6 weeks today! noo!) is it true you now book them monthly, rather than weekly???? ie, he'll get done on the 24th of jan (born 24th nov), as opposed to at 8 weeks ?

okay i gotta go and have some girl time with dd, poor little darlin'

    Hi Ladies,

Just a quick one from me -
Miss Magpie- Where did you hae your baby? I had Ruby at Box Hill and they offer a free hearing test before you leave the hossy. The put a couple of electrodes on the bub and earphones over their ears. They can tell you on the spot if there is a problem or not. Apparantly they only used to do this test on babies that had a family history of hearing problems but now offer it to all babies. I will have a look for the brochure and give you the name of the program. DS has a murmur too, my GP dicovered it by mistake one day and said it should just fix itself and she will keep an eye on it. Nothing else has ever been done about it and its been about 2.5 years since it was found.

JD's- I hope things arent too hard for you at home at the moment, babies can be very trying as we all know. Just remember if her crying does get too much for you to just put her down and go outside where you can hear her. Crying wont do her any harm for a few minutes and it could save your sanity. Try taking her for a walk in the pram, the fresh air will be good for all of you. We are all here for you too if you need us xxx

Kymmy- You poor thing, I had mastitis with DS and the pain was excrutiating. I was on antibiotics for 2 weeks and my supply dropped in that breast. Hopefully the ABA give you some good tips, also do what Heavenly said.

Mon- OMG 3 months already!! She is looking really good - I love the photo of the two of you in the shower.

Hi everyone else, I will be back later to reply to the ones I missed, Im off to cook dinner - hotdogs! I know, very slack .....

JD's Mum... lol, I know how you feel - the couch feels like a permanent attachment to my bum these days!!! And don't feel bad about staying in bed, you obviously needed the rest. Also re the wind thing, we have tried Infants friend and Brauers Colic Relief, and I have just today bought Infacol. Will let you know if I have success with that one.

Miss Magpie, wow Trent is growing so well, it's nice to see them thriving isn't it? Good luck with his hearing, did he not have a test in hospital? James had to have one before we came home where they stuck these riduculous looking plastic things over his tiny ears!!
Woohooo for the rolling over too!! And good luck for the jabs, hope he doesn't get too irritable!

Alison, how'd your afternoon tea go?

Kymmy - definitely ring the ABA. Apparently cabbage leaves are great for mastitis and frozen huggies they told me in hossy!?!?! It could be a blocked milk duct if it's a little lump too.

Telly - wow I thought James was growing fast by whacking on 4 cms!! That's great that Theo's doing so well! And go you for cooking lasagne! I'm lucky if I can get a shower these last few days!

AFM - Had U/S today, they couldn't see much in the uterus, so either I have passed all that was there or it was AF!?!? Who knows, guess I'll find out more when I go back to the OB next week, but a BIG relief that I don't have to go back to hospital!!!

James went to the clinic yesterday and he has put on almost a kilo in 3 weeks! But we suspect he has colic and silent reflux, so he is now on Mylanta with each feed, hopefully this will help him, he has seemed more settled this arvo so here's hoping!!

My milk seems to have gone totally, my boobs have been soft for days, so today I have officially givn up on BF. DH and I decided that the measley 20mls of boob milk a day was hardly going to make much of a difference, so the breast pump has been returned to the hire place. I think I'm ok with this..

Also I splurged and bought James a fisher price cradle swing, I hope he likes it and it helps settle him!

Hi girls, I've been lurking instead of posting, but I'm rid of my visitors now (my house is a pigsty) I have great admiration for people with more than one kid and don't use daycare for the older ones - DS1 has a cold and I've got nothing done today & yesterday (his daycare days) I so need to clean the house (although I could be doing that now to tell the truth) after having all the family here at Christmas & my bro & his gf staying until the weekend, but Mr I has wanted to be held the last two days and when he (finally) decided he was going to sleep in the bassinette DS1 has needed me.

Pages back, someone asked about wrapping when its hot - my Mum has been wrapping Mr I and leaving his feet exposed and he settled well (when Mum did it, I have not got the knack, he'd come undone about a minute after I did it). There's a book at my library called Babygami (or something like that) which shows lots of different ways to wrap - maybe do a google images search?

Mrs Magpie - rolling already wow! Must put Mr I on the floor for tummy time - although I don't want to have him on the floor when its just me with the 2 boys as DS1 is a bit over enthusiastic with his cuddling and needs to be supervised closely. Mr I holds his head up really well so i haven't been worrying about too much tummy time.

I had to get groceries today, dropped DS1 off to my Dad's and circled the car parks for about 20 mins with an increasing volume crying Mr I before giving up and giving in to extortion and getting my car washed for $22 just so I could get an undercover park close to the shops(its raining here and tourist season).

Gotta go DS1 needs me. Hi to everyone!

    Hi Girls!

Hi Tygress - great to hear you don't need to go back to hospital, what a relief!

Hi Snowylove - great to hear from you, wow you've just got rid of your visitors, you must be exhausted!

For those who have given up BF'ing, well done, I think it's hard to do huh, I'm formula feeding more often these days, my milk isn't enough for my little piggy, I mostly BF but I can see the full time formula not being that far away perhaps.....we shall see. I got another 6 hours out of Amelia last night, she prefers a full tummy that's for sure!

Hi Telly - I visited a friend this morning too, she's 39 weeks pregnant and no aircon, I tried to BF and poor Amelia was so sweaty and me too, I gave up and took her home to finish it in the aircon, revolting here today!

Hi Ubba - hope you are doing well lovely.

Hi Kymmy - your poor boobies, are you ok? I have these great little booby heat/cold packs my friend got for me. I can give you the details if you want to get some, they are great for engorgement and helping with mastitis. I think they're $30 for a pack of two.

Hi Mon - OMG 3 months already, WTF!! How fast is this going girls, it's scary!

Afternoon tea at the hospital was nice, one of the girls from ante natal was there, she had her baby the same day!!! I didn't even see her, mind you, I didn't leave the room much when I was there LOL. We were given everyone's contact details and we're going to catch up for a cuppa in a couple of weeks. Funny, my aqua class girls there's all girls but one boy, this group was all boys but Amelia and another one, funny. I weighed Amelia but they did it so fast I don't remember if she was 4.1 kgs or 4.5 kgs.....have mothers group Thursday so will check it properly then. Either way, she's definitely gaining which is good. Oh and DH was annoyed earlier, Amelia's blood group results came in the mail and she has my blood group not his, sucked in LOL!

Gotta go, Amelia just finished feeding (while I typed how terrible am I, no wonder my shoulders and back ache) and now she's poo'd, awesome! Waiting for DH to come home and bath her....oh hang on, she's still going, might wait a while ha ha - the bad thing about combining BF'ing with FF'ing, you get the runny BF poo with the stinky formula poo, fabulous!

    Hello Ladies,

Thanks for your words of wisdom... I love you gals!

Well I just got back from the Doc.. I definately have mastitis! Have been put on antibiotics. She said it was great that i came in when I did as it gets very bad very quickly.
Hopefully the antibiotics will work fast cos my boob is killing me! Archie was feeding from it before and decided he'd pull his head away with my nipple still in him mouth!!! OUCHHHHHHHHH!!!!

    Anyway, i'm being summonsed...

hope you all have a great night x

Not terrible at all - its called multi-tasking! I dunno how I'd go if I had to ff and actually have to pay attention while feeding. With my laziness being glued to the couch feeding DS1 when he was new was great - I got to watch heaps of DVD's. Wouldn't be so good now I've got to chase DS1 about. Gotta work on my posture while feeding though (or visit my chiro who'd tell me to work on my posture).

Kymmy hope your boob responds quickly to the ab's and not so sore soon.

After a peaceful afternoon, James now has diarrhea from the mylanta! So annoying to find something that helps him settle but causes another problem.

Wishing you all a trouble free night!

Hi Kymmy - I'm glad you went to the doc straight away, I know a girl who went on antibiotics for mastitis and by the next day she felt much better so I think they work pretty quickly. Take care of that boob in the meantime.

Hi Snowy - ha ha I haven't tried typing while using the bottle yet, it's one thing to do it while BF'ing but with a bottle would be a real artform ha ha. I have had times when I've gotten carried away typing only to look down and realise Amelia is so far away from my boob and she's doing the sucking motion with her mouth and there's nothing there, LOL! Poor munchkin.

Hi Tygress - oh no!!!! Is there something else you can try???? Amelia's poo explosion while I was on before was a doozey.........boy did it stink - yesterdays formula top up coming through mixed with the lovely runny mustard poo of breast milk. YUK!! She went straight into the bath. She was screaming and as soon as she hit that water she was so peaceful....gotta love the bath. She's now on dads chest asleep, the usual position in the evenings! She only wants me for my boobs....oh well, at least someone does ha ha.

Hi Girls - TMI alert.....I think I definitely have hemorroids (sp?) or a fissure or something! It's still hurting when I go to the toilet and today I even had some bleeding! Do I just go to the chemist and ask for something specific or can you buy it in the supermarkets? I've never had this before ever so have no idea! Also, without sounding revolting I can't feel anything on the outside so if it is roids they must be on the inside. Can you even use cream in that instance? Don't suppose they go away on their own? Hoping someone knows about them so you can help me LOL! Trust me to get these! Grrr.

Only got 4 hours out of Amelia last night so there goes the 6 hours from the previous night. I do however think it's because she wet her nappy so much it leaked onto her bassinette mattress and DH had the timer on the aircon and it turned off so it was stifling in the bedroom, idiot! It's so hot here at the moment!

I have a friend popping in shortly, she hasn't seen Amelia yet and we've been friends for over 10 years so quite excited although I did tell her to excuse the mess, I can't be bothered tidying up, not that it's too bad but it does look like a little bomb has hit it ha ha!

    How is everyone today?
