Fi, you have done so well having all those people stay in your house for this long, as bad as it sounds i kinda get sick of DH when he's home for more than a fe3w weeks, i guess its coz im used to him not being her ALL the time, and when he gets time off he;s home 24\7 and it drives me batty, we all get into our little routine that works for us iguess.
afm, i havent given Miss A any formula (not even any top ups) in 2 days.. and both mornings (this morning and yesterday morning) she woke up at 2am BOTH days.. so im not sure if the formula has anything to do with it and if it does i might reconsider putting her back on it. ALSO the last 2 days been feeding her lots, all short feeds, like i was told to do (10-15mins max) and would have to do it both sides each feed, she was feeding almost every hour (this happened for 2 days *sigh* ) yesterday she was really grizzly and a little unsettled (nothing ajor just not herself) then i put her to bed at like 7.30pm 2 abd a bit hours later i expressed before i went to bed (trying to stimulate supply more than anything) and only got 25 freaking mls THATS IT!!!! i nearly cried no wonder my baby was sooky she was eating and getting nothing then when she woke at 2am i fed her both sides and she looking for more so i gave her the 25mls id expressed and she went to sleep after AGES... im just so torn. i text DH saying

he doesnt want her FF but she just isnt getting enough from me... i feel like a yoyo going back and forth.. making a decision then changing my mind a million times its doing my freakin head in...

oh sweetie I dont know what to say , but is she having plenty of wet nappies, etc her cluster feeding can actually be a growth spurt time also the more she feeds to begin with the more you will produce IYKWIM!!!
can babies have growth spurts at anytime? i guess thats a silly question. lol
He wants the absolute best for her so he wants her breast fed, he doesnt mind if i supplement and use both but he wants me to bf for as long as i can (i will be going back to work in april/may so ill most likely have to stop then )
yeah theres a bog group of growth spurts I think Luke is going thru one ATM, oh ok re FF I hope it gets easier dont push yourself to much drink plenty and eat heaps of good stuff just relax feed her when she wants the house wont fall down if you spend all day feeding and cuddling
as for wet nappies if she is havign at least 6-8 good ones then she is getting enough to drink ...
Ok.... 4 people down and 2 to go! Then they are all coming back for a few days At least we will get a break for a few days which will be nice as I'm utterly exhausted.
Stevie, sounds like the BF is getting back on track A lot of people FF at night for that very reason - they usually sleep longer as it is heavier than breast milk. Miss A is probably feeding lots at the moment to increase your supply and once it has increased she will probably slow down. Also, she probably is going through a growth spurt and is just more hungry at the moment. You're doing really well! As for going back to work, are you going back FT? Returning to work doesn't have to mean the end of BF. Unfortunately I'm returning to work in Feb only part time though, and I still intend on BF. I will just have to express for those days I am at work. Your workplace has to be supportive of BF mothers and allow you the right to express at work if that is what you want to do. Sorry, I'm certainly not telling you what to do, just letting you know that returning to work doesn't have to mean giving up BF if it is something you still want to do.
Finding suitable sleeping arrangements for Leila with a house full of people was hard work! At first we had Leila in the portable cot in our room (people were sleeping in the nursery) but we found that was really hard. The cot was given to us and unfortunately it was missing a few bits so we couldn't raise it meaning she was down really low and it was very hard on my back getting her in & out and trying to settle /restettle her. So then i decided to get the cot mattress and just put it on the floor.... great idea except my baby is actually a caterpillar!!!! Twice she managed to wriggle her way off the mattress and onto the floor - fully swaddled mind you! Cant' leave that girl alone for a second and she's only 2 months old!
Time to go and encourage the last 2 guests to make a move on out of here!!
just quickly (ill bbl as DH is coming home today so have a bunch of things to do)
but while i remember..
my baby doesnt wriggle around? is that normal. i dont swaddle or wrap her (only did it the first night she was home from hospital) and if she's on her back she generally doesnt move anywhere. if i prop her on the couch next to me she'll wriggle til she's lying down lol.

I hear you on a wiggler Fi, I had luke on a cot matress on floor the other week when it was real hot, went downstairs to hang some washign jack comes racing down lukes crying so I head up thinking he had just woken nope he had wriggled off the matress and under the fish tank stand he was swaddled as well we are actually moving Luke into his big cot next week fulltime, he wiggles so much in the basinette it moves unless the brakes are on and he wiggles so much he ends up with his arm under the matress *sigh*
well girls we are off to Agnes for the long weekend this arvie so have a safe ad happy new years catch ya in 2010
stevie does she sleep on her back ?? Luke is a belly sleeper so he has more oportunities to wriggle and move if he is on his back he tends to just move his arms and legs
yeh she sleeps on her back, ive put her on her belly when she wasnt settling and that didnt help, she's not a fan.
yeh she kicks her legs around (enough to kick the blankets off) and waves her arms around enough, i guess its a little harder to wriggle around lol.
when i give her tummy time she moves around a fair but, somehow she manages to move herself backwards LOL.

Stevie, don't stress about Miss A not wriggling as Leila is a tummy sleeper too and it is far easier for them to move on their tummies. When I put her on her back to play she mostly just throws her arms & legs around although just in the last few days she's started rolling from side to side... cheeky little girl! Also I forgot to ask re BF are you still getting assistance from the ABA? I think there are natural things that you can take that help increase your supply and they might be able to help with that. Like i said, you're doing a great job you've had such a tough run with it and I admire your perserverance
My bf is getting alot better, this morningmy supply is much better, btu im dropping Miss A off at MILs while i go and get jon so i will have to make sure i def feed her just before i go and then ill have to express after ive picked him up. i dont want to throw it all out now hwile its still not doing it properly.
Last night i gae her a FF before bed (she went down at around 8) i expressed a little after that and i only got 60ml.. but oh well she did sleep til 4am tho fed her then we both went back to sleep til 8
Stevie- The bfing sounds like its coming along nicly. I have always wondered if feeding half and half would somewhat confuse bubs or damage the mums supply. But it sounds like you are doing a great job and Ali is thriving
Dont read into to many things that other bubs are doing that Miss A may not be doing yet as every baby is different and they truly do things at their own pace My babies sleep on their back, but get 'tummy time' at through the day.

little bit of a me post, Luke has finally settled down with his feeds he is having about 5-6 feeds a say between 120 - 180 ml generally 3 x 180ml and the others are anywhere in between, we add 1/2 scoop of thickener and infants friends to every feed so he is really settled he is starting to sleep well again still wakign for a feed over night but is now settling back down within 20-30min of waking and last ngiht he slept in the big cot over night for the first time, so its time to pack up the bassinette I am so sad as he is my last baby but I am not ready to sell the bassinette thinking of leaving it set up with stuffed toys in it though

Good on you to everyone who made it to midnight!! I sort of did but not by choice... our guests finally left NYE and we were absolutely exhausted, had planned to stay up or even go and watch the fireworks but we couldn't get off the couch I think i went to bed at about 10 but then some silly person started playing with fireworks in the estate where we live at around midnight and the dog next door went crazy and spent over an hour trying to climb the fence (owners were out) so that woke me up and kept me up for a while
Rach, glad Luck is settled and sleeping well. He does well to drink 180mls at a time - what a little champion! I don't know how I will feel when I have my last baby but I imagine it would be hard to let go of everything, maybe you should leave the basinette filled with toys for a while and then when you are ready you can put it away?
AFM well ladies it is a very difficult day for me.... my little girl is having her first day at child care I'm going back to work part time at the start of Feb but due to the nature of child care and limited places etc there was a vacancy now which I had to take in order to have her there from Feb. I'm looking at it as a way to gently ease us both into it. Because I'm not actually at work yet she doesn't have to stay in there all day so I'll just leave her there for about 3 hours today and see how she goes. if she has a sleep and takes the bottle happily enough then I will feel more comfortable about it. BUT she is just so tiny! She's only 9 weeks old and I feel like such a terrible mother - I don't want to dump her in child care - I want to look after her myself, she is my baby!!! Unfortunately though, due to financial reasons I have to return to work. I'm so sad and angry and frustrated at my situation
