Nope, no mixing. Just straight cows milk. He actually had it cold the first few times. I still give it to him cold if we're out, otherwise I'll warm it up

fluff - Yay on the walkin! You'll have to video it. But not yay on the illness. I hope he's doing better now!

Teeth - Thanks for the answers on teeth. I have been using a cloth to wipe her teeth but then thought maybe I should get a toothbrush so she gets used to that.

Food - M is ok on solids but I don't reckon she eats all that much still. I've decided to move her lunch bottle to after lunch. Today I tried cows milk in a sippy cup. She had a bit. Then I moved it to a bottle and she did drink it all. I want to phase out the bottles but she doesn't take a sippy cup well. What sippy cups are people using?

I am happy to report no vertigo attacks this week. I am still not feeling great though. But hopefully on the road to better!

Try a straw instead - they can easily self regulate and sometimes a sippy cup is still hard if they have to lift it for another few months etc. Start with the take and toss type - not the spillproof ones, then they learn what the straw does and dont look back.

I suppose now i feel lucky Zander never took a bottle cos I dont have to worry about getting rid of it LOL.

Once they take a straw too - what I do - and have just bought again - is the UHT 6 x 200mls packs with straws attached - just like the juice boxes. Great for travelling and out and about instead of carrying out milk that might leak or whatever. And UHT milk is same nutritionally as refrigerated - I have triple checked with for all of my kids. So if out - he can have the boxes, home, a cup - cool hey

If Z has an early feed like 6am - I give him brekky around 6.45ish - if he wakes later he is usually hungry for food and the kids are eating breakky then, so into the highchair for food, then b/f about 30 mins later. Also a b/f after lunch, and before bed. Occasionally he will want one late arvo - usually cos I have been busy or out and havent given him a full arvo snack

Z has the same issue as his brother - when he gets a cold his airways become restricted and he has asthma like symptoms - so he too is on a puffer at the moment for 2 weeks morning and night until the URTI passes - but being in child care 2 days that will probably take that long anyway. But as soon as it is gone, he doesnt need it - DS1 is exactly the same and so is DH - so not true asthma, but all in the allergy family we have hey!

we have introduced milk the last 10 days on 50mls a day to start and have only given it to him cold - but again cos he hasnt had bottles or formula heated so no diff for him. He had around 100mls today so will check his nappies tomorrow. I am hoping to stop the day/lunch feed - which i do at work anyway and boobs are fine.

need some warm milk and a warm bed - night!

opppss I meant straw cups. Sorry I call straw and sippy the same. Actually I'm thinking of going backwards and trying sippy cup again today. She drank more from a sippy cup I think than she does from a straw. I think cos it just flows out with her sippy cup. No sucking required. Anyway, I'll give that a go first before I go buying some more straw cups.

Georgi - thanks for the advice on the milk, will start after her next tub of formula is gone, at $28 a pop i'm not wasting a drop! hehe
Also going to wait and see how we go at her MCHN appt on Monday, i think she has grown in length but hoping her weight is on the rise... the amount she eats if it's not then theres something wrong... lol

SamiH - Poor Z, respiratory probs are always horrible in little ones... hope he's over it ASAP. I had never thought of those UHT milks, Ava only drinks from a sippy cup but gave her some milk to try from her left over breaky and she didn't really like it, will introduce bit by bit and see how we go...

*Tanya* - am so glad no more vertigo attacks this week, it stays this way!
I can't believe M is 1 in a week, actually can't believe Ava is 1 in 4 days.. OMG where has the time gone?
I also wanted to say a big thanks for agreeing to me my PIG, it means a lot to me and i can't wait to organise to catch up after the girls birthdays and before #2 arrives...

Who else is in Melb, i have the worst PG brain at the moment... lol

Well better get going, got my cousins lil boys 1st B'day cake today, no party just afternoon cake or something.
Ava bought him a tonka truck (3yrs +) and a Wiggles DVD.
With the truck it says 3yrs plus but they are indestructible and i don't think there is anything that could hurt him, what does everyone else think?
If his parents don't want him using it we are happy for them to put it aside for him.. every boy, or girl for that matter NEEDS a tonka truck at some stage!
I hope Ava gets one one day... hehe

Well best be off, so much to do over the next week, can't believe this time next week ppl will be starting to arrive, the house will be getting filled with food and presents and my lil girl will be 1... the time has gone so quick!

big thanks for agreeing to me my PIG
*oink oink* Sorry couldn't resist. That's fine. I'm happy to do it. It's not exactly hard work on my part and.. I get to find out details before everyone else.

Yeah it would be good to meet up. Once I'm feeling a bit more stable I'll organise something at my place.

ohh.. yeah I keep forgetting to mention that I am taking M to see another paed! The appointment is on Monday. I've still been worried about her weight and people still comment on how small she is and tell me to fatten her up, etc. Anyway, apparently this guy is an expert in weight or something and my MCHN reckons he'll say she's fine. I just thought it would be good to get a second opinion because the last paed I saw wasn't all that helpful. So fingers crossed for Monday. Hopefully it'll just be.. everything is ok and no tests or anything.

Avasmum - Hope you here that Ava is doing well at her MCHN appointment.

*Tanya* - you make me laugh...

am hoping that Ava has put on enough, maybe she might finally be above the 10th % for weight and 25th for height.

She's not far of her cous Zac now so i know she has had a growth spurt.. well , will keep everyone posted.

Hope your all well, was a big day at Zac's birthday for Ava, she ate cake and fairy bread, she LOVED IT and his Tonka truck (might get her one from Santa) but her teeth are killing her, her gums are so swollen it feels like when you have an ulsar (sp?) and is really puffy.. my poor girl.. hope they are out b4 next week.

Sorry to be nosey.... But what's this about TANYA being AVASMUM's PIG? I must've missed something......

AVASMUM I didn't realise that you had concerns about Ava's weight. I'm sure the MCHN will say she's fine. They all have different opinions on milk. My research says cows milk is fine from 9months, but I was happier to stay on the formula till 12. As long as they eat a healthy diet then cows milk is fine. It seems like Ava eats like BJ does, I'm wondering how her poops are? Since I cut back on BJ's milk, he is eating more, but boy oh boy, he is just a pooping machine. I initially thought it was his teething, and it still may be, but now I think it might be cause of all the food he's eating. They are quite always sqishy & quite light in colour ( SAMI - I know you love the poop talk so jump in when you please lol)

TANYA I'm sure the paed is going to say that Maya is fine. It sounds like she is very, very normal. There are LOADS of babies that are small. It doesn't matter if she's petite, she may even have a later growth spurt. I can understand that you'd be worried, but she knows what she wants to eat & drink & there's not much you can do about it. You are doing such a fantastic job, and you worry cause you're a great mum, but remember you can only do what you can do and you do do it well

SAMI Can cow's milk give them runny poo's? I used UHT milk alot with BJ, for his cereal & stuff cause I never knew when I was gonna need it & I didn't wanna waste the fresh stuff. From what I've read, there is nothing wrong with it all. Good idea to get the little ones with straws. I never thought of that. Will get some when I go shopping next

    FLUFF Hope Jacks better now

We had another 1st birthday yesterday. We got there a couple of hours late though. BJ was sleeping, plus I had to make dinner for DH to take to work. There were these rotten bugs EVERYWHERE & somehow they ended up home with us. The party was in a park. We had to have a bath as soon as we got home.

What time is everyones bubs waking up now? BJ is waking at 5.50am every morning. I'm not sure if it's the poo in his nappy that's waking him or if it's cause the sun is up earlier now. Yesterday he seemed so tired, so I put him to bed at 9.30am, by 9.50am he was still whinging in his cot, which is uncommon for him, so DH went in to tell him to go to sleep & realised he'd done a poo. Once he was changed & back into bed, he went straight to sleep. So obviously he won't sleep with a dirty nappy.... I can't blame him really. Why can't he hold on till 7am. I'm gonna try putting him to bed later tonight to see if that works. I don't think it will, but am gonna try anyway.

    Anyway.... I've really rambled today haven't I....

    Have a great Sunday!

    Hello lovely ladies and babies!!

We are all going well. The biggest news we have is that we didn't need to have the surgery!! WOW!!! We went to the GP the afternoon before for something totally different and she had a look and said that it had seperated by over half so no need to put Bethany through it all. Again WOW!! What a relief.

So now we are getting ready for the big 1st birthday party. We are having the party on the Saturday and we are just having a BBQ at the beach. So sasuages, bread, salad and nibbles plus a cake. Pretty low key and simple.

    Otherwise not much news here.

amy - That's fantastic news that Bethany no longer requires an op. Her party sounds fun. I love the idea of a BBQ.

Georgi - Yeah it's tough for me sometimes not to worry about her size. The other day I was in a baby shop buying M an outfit and was buying size 6 months pants and the woman said "Oh that's for babies who are 6 months and older so it won't fit your baby." She was very surprised when I told her that M is actually 11 months. And then she said "Oh she is so so small." *sigh* Thing is M fits in size 0 tops and size 00 bottoms. She's long but skinny. Anyway, I think it will be good to get this paeds opinion.

M also poos many times a day. They are always squishy too.

Sorry to hear BJ is waking so early. M wakes at 8.30am so I have a very civilised girl. But then she doesn't go to bed till 8.30pm.

I just signed up for life membership cos it's so cheap. I'm also thinking of changing my username too but dunno what to. Any ideas? I didn't actually pick *Tanya*. I just typed it in to see if it was available and it went straight through to being approved instead. It's not a bad name really, given it's my name, but just was wanting something different.

Well.. this will be a big week! Babies turning ONE!

Georgi - lol Tanya is going to be my post it girl when #2 arrives...
I have always been worried bout poor Ava's weight, not because she doesn't eat or anything but she has always been small, she has always been in the 10th % for her weight and no more than the 25th % for her height, everyone always commented about how tiny she is.
I am nearly 6 foot and quite large so i guess ppl just assume she should be too, funnily enough i was tiny as a baby too.
She has always been a very happy smiley baby and developmentally has done things as she should but i am sooooo over the "oh she's tiny" comments.. hoping the MCHN can say she's above the 10th% for once.
Ava's poos are gross, she normally has 1-2 a day and they are disgusting, she eats like a horse, the other day she had 3 slices of jam toast for breakfast!

Amy_o - for Bethany, that is great news she doesn't have to go through an op, you must be relieved.
Have fun with the birthday, wish we could get away with a beach BBQ, sounds wonderful.

*Tanya* - hmm give me a couple of days and i might have some name suggestions for you... hope M's paed appt goes well, keep us informed.

    Hi to everyone else.

well AFM slowly getting things in order for Ava's party extravaganza, so far we have 65 confirmed and if the remaining ppl are coming then thats 90! OMG!
Her cake is organised, her lolly bags for older kids and goody bags for babies are partially done (gotta find loot bags big enough to fit books etc), getting her balloons on Tuesday night to setup for her b'day wed morning and then HOPEFULLY they stay up til Saturday, only doing two helium balloons and the rest normal, also getting a couple of hanging things for the lounge that i will put outside on sat! Also got butterfly window stickers from the cheap shop and 3 butterfly deco's aswell...
It's going to be full on but i can't wait, my lil girl is 1 in 3 days!
I am going to take sooooooooooooooooo many photos it's not funny but am hoping for a good one of her in the bathroom at 10:20am... not many people get a photo in the same place and same time as their birth!

Well i have rambled, sorry... Ava is waking about 6-7am every morning and has done for AGES, i think her top teeth are on their way through and she was in my bed from 1am last night , i am hoping they are through before wed and her party sat.. don't want her upset on her big day.

    well night all!

    hiya everyone,

Have been reading and not posting very slack! Quick update - back at work for a week now... have found out there's no waiting time for mat leave, woo hoo.

X has been drinking cow's milk for a bit, and I introduced it gradually (just mixed it with his EBM) cos he wouldn't take it straight... but once he got used to about 50:50 then he was fine to take it straight. Wake-up times are crazy atm... try 9am! We're actually trying to get him to wake up earlier...

amy_o - fantastic news about Bethany, I'm thrilled for you!!

avasmum & Tanya - very exciting with 1st birthday's coming up!!! And good luck with the weight gains too.

His party was great fun (can't remember if I've given update) but pretty low-key, nothing too fancy, but we all had a ball.

k gotta run, BBL another day hopefully with more personals.

Hey everyone, just a quick one as trying to get some stuff done while Ava is asleep.

    Her current stats are:

    Weight - 8.32kg (10th%)
    Height - 72cm (25th%)
    Head - 46cm (75th%)

So i am happy to report she has stayed at her usual rates, not dropped off on anything so the MCHN was very happy, she couldn't believe how much miss piggy eats!
This morn she had some puffed wheat AND THEN 2 slices of toast... hmmmm

So i guess aslong as she stays as happy as she normally is, is eating, weeing and pooing i have nothing to worry about.
Her eczema has flared on her back and stomach, little redish dots and very dry skin so off to buy a new moisturiser for her - has anyone tried the QV one, is it any good?

Also going to start her on milk from next week, will get half way through this tin of formula then start mixing it together until it's all milk and see how we go!

Well best be off, she fell asleep in my arms at the MCHN and stayed asleep during 2 car transfers so not sure how long i have to do some things.

    Hi everyone

Happy Birthday Belfie my love xxxxxxxx

Hope you have had a wonderful day and everyone spoiled you at work

Girls, I am cutting the umbilical cord to BB - I will still be around and will read once a week or similar - but I just dont have the time to be as active on it anymore. BB certainly has been an enjoyable part of my life, meeting some wonderful and kindred friends, but I am just too busy now that I am back at work and 3 kids and a travelling hubby.

I will still be on FB cos that is easier to be quick in replies and photos etc - sometimes on here it can take ages for things to work, and I get sidetracked reading other threads etc - before I know it I have wasted Zanders entire sleep time online

Happy 1st birthdays this week for all the other girls, and the week after for Jack!!!

    xxxxxxx

Sami - Aww.. I'll miss you. Make sure you still stalk this thread and post once in a while. I know what you mean though. I only really read this thread now and occasionally look at other ones if I have spare time. It can be very time consuming on here.

Avasmum - It sounds like Ava is doing really well. With those stats I wouldn't be worried at all. Ava would be a giant compared to Maya! Did you come up with a better name for me? I always struggle to think of good names for things like this. LOL

belfie - Hope you had a great day.

So we saw the new paed today and he said he is concerned about M and even though that was hard to hear at the same time it is a relief for me because I have been concerned too! He made me feel guilty though that I didn't come see him earlier. He showed me M's weight chart and said "why didn't you see me when she was 3 months old? That's when other parents would have been rushing to my door and I would have been concerned too and would have done tests then." I am feeling guilty that I didn't do something earlier. I have been concerned but everyone keeps saying "oh she's just small" or they tell me to fatten her up. It's not about putting FAT on her. It's whether or not she's healthy! Anyway, that's what he's about, checking if she's healthy. So today she had a blood test! I was so anxious for her and nearly cried. But she was such a trooper - no tears!! Aww.. and she got a superman sticker. LOL so cute. We also have to collect wee and poo samples.

Anyway, so while I am feeling guilty I am also relieved that someone is finally doing something!! Hopefully it'll all come back normal but if it doesn't then we can do something about it.
