Not much going on here... am organising Caitlin's christening which will be in Feb 2010 as that was the first date available. Need to get invites out to family who aren't local so they have the best chance of being able to attend.

Hi girls thanks for the warm welcome, sorry I havent been in much but we have been living in "Colic County" for the last week and it hasnt been fun. I think I have found the solution though I bought a Hug a Bub and it has been a lifesaver...she is settled, upright and falls straight to sleep and I can still function and do stuff for the other 3. It has been a real eye opener for me, my other 3 were the best babies just ate and slept but this one is so demanding, wont sleep in her cot so she is co sleeping with me, is fussy and colicy and is a real cling on...my mum reckons it is her revenge cause I was exactly the same way apparently lol. But she is my last baby so I guess I will just ride the wave cause I know it will get better, this is just the settling in period and in a month or 2 it will all be a distant memory.....I hope lol!!!

I hope everyone is doing well and coping ok with the sleep deprivation and cracked nipples the things we do for our kids huh...lucky we love the little beggars so much xxx

Hi girls, I hear you Nina! I just can't believe how long it takes to get ella settled after a feed. The doc has told me to give her 1ml of mylanta before a feed to see if it helps as she thinks she has reflux and the acid is distressing her! So hoping it works out.

Hey mummies,how is it all going?? Have been feeling naughty for not getting on here to see how you are all doing and not a heap of posting going on so obviously you are all pretty busy with bubs too!!!

Easha - thanks for feedback re feeding after vomiting. I have found that seems to be the way, she still seems at least moderately satisfied with a feed even if sick...the pr.vom has settled down a bit, maybe once every second day. Laughed about the tv, i too was having that temptation, watching 3/4 of a show whilst feeding and wanting to watch the rest but knowing its just silly and i should go to bed!!! My life has been changed remarkably in the last week due to the installation of foxtel IQ!!! OMG this is the best invention (after beautiful bubbas of course!!) It allows me to easily tape whatever and it is set up to tape all my fave shows every time they come on and i can pause and rewind live tv - so if bub cracks it and needs me for 5 mins i can just pause whatever i am watching or if phone rings etc... I also basically tape everything so i never have to watch ads....loving the IQ - big luxury at a time when meant to be cost cutting, but justify as SOO much less being spent on social stuff, eating out etc...the entertainment spending is well down anyways......

Brooke - oscar is gorgeous!!! Sorry you are having a tough time, but as you said if visitors are settling down it will help a lot - i have found the interest in bubs lovely but exhausting and far from being home and "bored" as i feared (LOL!! - i had no idea!!) my main trouble is making sure i am not overscheduled with catch ups and hang out for days with nothing on. On the other hand i am trying to drink up the visits and "attention" so to speak as i know the novelty will wear off for people!!! It is so lovely showing bub off being proud first time mummy but yep it def. adds to the strain as well....

Nina - what exactly is a hug a bub??? Glad its working anyways!!!!!

AFM - Well overall i think i am doing pretty well, mostly cos i think i have landed what is (so far) a not too tricky bub to look after. She sleeps for reasonable gaps at night(4-5 hours and getting longer) which lets a bit of sleep happen and helps a lot. She has a more unsettled time say 5 - 10 pm where she seems to "cluster feed", every 1 -2 hours for 3 or 4 feeds, but this then means maybe 1 4-6 hour followed by a four hour gap ie. really only getting up once right in the middle of the night, so figure the evening cluster feeds worth it for the overnight bit!! The vomiting has settled and not bad now and she is having a bit more awake time. Tonight we didnt fight the awake time which we did a bit at first and it was nice really - she sat up with us on the couch lying back on dads lap just looking around and interacting with us - it was nice for hub to spend a bit of time with her after work too.

HUb started new job yesterday and i had a small meltdown last night - felt like i had been a pretty good mummy all day but wasnt such a good wife ie. i had been a good nanny and maid but not such a great partner - he is gone from house about 3 hours more a day than i am used to compared to his old job, not a great time to have this change. i found the hours b/w when he used to get home and when he did (4.30 pm - 7.30 pm) quite stressful and depressing and by the time he got home i was exhausted and grumpy and didnt do a great job of hearing all about his day etc... i went through a whole lot of mixed emotions, ashamed to say but almost angry at him for being so upbeat about his great day, why didnt he miss us more??? and yay for you it was all very stimulating and exciting, i changed nappies all day!!! And yes i would rather make the salad while you hold the baby than the other way around cos i have been holding the baby ALL day!!! Meltdown was late at night, exhausted and by bed time felt like me and hub had hardly spent time together and basically if i was feeling this tired and overwhelmed after day one, how am i going to beafter he works eleven out of the next twelve days!!!! Anyways day 2 went MUCH better and i am feeling great today - one day at a time...... hugs to everyone, how are you all doing??????? No time to edit, hope ok!!

henri - i know what you mean, dont feel bad, ive been so mean to my DF the last week due to stress with uni and i feel terrible too! also you are VERY lucky to only get up once i night i still have to feed him 2 to 3 times a night and then wake up call is at 5 am everyday!

AFM - my bubs is almost 2months old allready! we are going to start planning our wedding after new years yay! oh and would you believe my bub is allready 6 kilos! after being a half a kilo underweight when i brought him home, he is such a budda i have to put powder under his 3 chins coz it gets all sweaty and yucky under there now and he has grown out of all his clothes and is nearly in 0's!

Thanks Henri- i am a little biased, but hey what mother isnt right?
dont get me wrong i am loving all the attention he is recieving! he absolutly loves attention, He is a ladies man for sure!
its just i find my visitors tend to over welcome the stay.
the past few days have been great though, DP had some mates come up from Sydney over the weekend just gone for his bday, they are 23/24 yrs old and they were absolutly great with Oscar spoilt him rotten it was really funny seeing these young single carefree guys empty there suitcases with teddies, jump suits, haviana thongs (sooo cutee) and even a pair of tiny jeans- they dont fit just yet but i cant wait to put them on him!!
the first night they decided to take DP out to celebrate his bday, they returned home about 430am, and were such good boys didnt even so much as squeek like a mouse.
so DP was in the good books. then the next night they decided to go out again so i decided to go for a sleep over at my mums (oscars nannies) and OMG he was an angel now my mum things i make up all the drama, typical.

anyway thats my story! hope everything is going great for you ladies.

M+H+B - HI! Yep, i think the DP's, DF's and DH's are copping it a bit at the moment!! Surely its not just yours and mine??!! Mine has been so helpful when home but obviously things have to change now he is back at work, so its just an adjustment period i guess. I had been trying hard and succeeding in first few weeks in not telling him he was doing things wrong with bubs, but last two days the way he does things with her is bugging me - i guess my confidence with her has surged forward as i am with her all day and he has lost a bit of confidence not being around her so much, i just have to try and be more patient...... and yep, i know i am so lucky that stephi sleeps well at night so far, fingers crossed it continues....not sure how i would cope if she wasn't that way, maybe i was sent one that the universe knew i could cope with....

V.exciting re wedding plans - hope it all goes well!!! Had to laugh re your bubbas 3 chins!! Stephi is getting real chubby cheeks (bringing back slightly horrid memories of being called "chubby checkers" at primary school () - hope they disappear b4 she gets to school, but for the moment are v.cute!!!!

Brooke- and i have to say again - gorgeous bub!!!! Glad it went well with hubs mates - lucky you get on well with them. Makes all the diff. when they are good with/excited about bubs. I find myself getting a bit offended if people dont gush!!! Definitely feel warmer towards those who do!!!! LOL about oscar ebehaving at nans - people keep saying what a little angel stephi is (as they all look when fast asleep) and really she is great but i still find myself saying "come to my place at 4am when she is hungry and angry she has to get her nappy changed first"!!! She has a great scream on her when she tries, DH enjoyed telling all his mates she got given BOG (best on ground) in the nursery overnight in hossie for biggest screamer!!!!!

AFM - first trip to supermarket today went off ok, went straight after a feed and she slept the whole timeyay for stephi!! Was not impressed with baby capsule trolleys which were old and horrible and i hated putting her in it, not mad on using those again - anyone else got tips how they manage supermarket?? Mostly aiming to do it on weekends when one of us can babysit and the other go and just quick trips for a couple of items during week - but when you do go how do you handle it???? I havent got a baby bjorn or similar, sling, anyone got these and can tell me how useful they are finding them? Are they any good for s.market shopping???

Have been reading but haven't gotten around to posting for a while. You all sound like you are doing so well and your bubs experiences are already bringing back memories of DD at that stage... even though it wasn't all that long ago! In some ways I feel like she is going through some of them again and is behaving some days like a baby of her corrected age. The ECHN said that some of it may be true and that I need to take each day as it comes - well der!

Bit of an update on DD... she was just over 5kg at her last weigh in (22nd Oct) and she is over three different sized clothes... some 00000 still fit (pants and tops etc), mostly in 0000 but some of her onesies suits are now 000. She had some gunk in her eye the other day - I did think it was conjunctivitis but now I don't think it was... think it was just some spring pollen or something. I have been squirting BM into the eye to flush it out and it is working wonders. Um can't think of much else... other than DP and I have been very naughty and been DTD with no protection whatsoever... I really have my fingers crossed that breastfeeding is holding back any cycles... and double fingers crossed that my PCOS is still wreaking havoc on any cycle I 'may' have... AF is still at bay but I am wondering if I should get a pg test just to make sure... argh! We now have condoms! We were hoping to have the next one in around 2011 but any earlier will be fine as well... though I would like to wait until DD turns 1 at least.

We are in Cowra at the moment - my sister found out last Monday that her baby grew wings and became an angel so we are up here to help her whilst she recovers from the D&C.

I can't believe my DD will be 3months old in 4 days - my oh my time has flown! DD is still in newborn sposies but we tried her in the infant size today - they do fit but they are so huge on her! The newborn sizes fit much better but I know it won't be long until she fits the infants size! I don't know many 3month olds that still fit into newborn nappies LOL

We are heading back to Sydney tomorrow after spending time with my sister and looking after my niece. I got a glimpse into life with two and it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. I took my niece and my DD down to the shops by myself - I was surprised at how easy it was. I got DD out first and put her into the sling and then got niece out and she walked until we got to the trolleys and then she hoped in there... I am sure it wouldn't always be easy but I was imaging all sorts of horrible moments but none eventuated!

Easha - I found distracting myself (with a book, TV, and sometimes conversation) would help the expressing flow. What type of pump are you using? I also used the medela swing and it was a godsend whilst DD was in hospital.

tk - my heart goes out to your sis, ive been there before and it is very hard emotionally and the D&C is quite scary, but not painful. i hope she is recovering ok.

AFM- my boy is already 6.2 kilos! and in crawler nappies and is only 2 months old i dont know if they will make nappies big enough for him soon!

rayden is in the 95th percentile for her weight and height .. 5020 gms and 57cms long..

tk1999- wow 3mths old soon how fast has that gone by ..

went to a wedding and 1st time ive left rayden mind you it was only for 2 hrs i just went to the ceremony and mum said she was great ,, although refused the expressed milk she gagged.. thats a prob as eventually i gotta get a job..
